The Owl Familia: The Family That Will Grow Forever:
Vee's Joins The Fun

The next few days were a whirlwind of events; helping Camila and Vee get settled into the Owl House. They also needed to come up with a plan so Camila could get used to the food of the Isles. Eda, of course, just wanted to knock Camila down and do what Gwen did with Luz.

Though Lilith did notice the strange look that entered the older human's eyes, Camila agreed with the ex-coven head to keep that idea on the table. It was Gwen and Willia who came up with the answer; the odd healer would make a pill from the Elder Keeper's remedy and the human vet would take it once a day.

After that problem was taken care of, the Familia helped Camila look for a job best suited to her skills. Though everyone ensured the human mother didn't need to go to the trouble, Camila was determined not to be a burden to her new family.

That was nearly 4 days ago, and during all of this time, Lilith couldn't help but feel a little worried for Vee. It didn't escape her how fidgety the basilisk was; Vee was looking over her shoulder the first two days she was back.

Then there was the fact that she refused to go outside or change into her true form. The most she would change was having her ears and natural eyes out, and patches of yellow skin around her cheeks.

So, when the family took Camila out on a tour of Bonesborough, to end at Hexside, Lilith had said she needed to pass. There was a potion order she would like to complete sooner than later. It wasn't a lie, but the potion wouldn't take much time to complete, and she plans to use her time for something different.

"Vee," Lilith called warmly. "Can I ask how you are settling in?"

The basilisk was currently in the living room and using the Owl Familia's portal to browse through something called the internet through her human scroll. She jumped when Lilith called to her but blushed slightly when she realized she what did.

Honestly, if Lilith wasn't so concerned for the creature she might have found the entire thing cute.

"O-Oh, Ms. Lilith," Vee stammered nervously. "I thought you were working on a potion order?"

Lilith offered the newest member of her family a kind smile and walked up to the couch. She tried to put on a casual air as she took a seat on the couch. She noticed that Vee was eyeing her warily, and tried to keep herself as relaxed as possible.

"I am, but I need to let the potion simmer for about thirty minutes before I can finish things," Lilith explained, and offered Vee a warm smile. "So, while I wait, I figured I would see how everything's going with you."

Vee's guard was up as she looked at the witch beside her. She was looking for any signs that the witch was trying to trick her. But all she saw was warmth and love in the witch's eyes. Despite her better judgment telling her otherwise, the young basilisk found herself relaxing just a bit.

"It's…just being here is bringing up a lot of memories," Vee said bittersweetly.

"Yes, I don't doubt that dear," Lilith replied with a nod. "But you don't have to worry about that anymore. The ones responsible for your suffering are caught or are in the process of being caught."

Vee let out a faint sigh and brought her knees up to her chin. She began to absent-mindedly play with a lock of hair as she thought over some more recent events. Lilit noticed the sudden change but waited for Vee to continue.

"It's just more than the bad memories this place brings," Vee mumbled after a minute's pause. "But two months ago, I went through my first shedding. It was also the time I learned that I was Lactose Intolerant."

Lilith blinked at this new piece of information; she remembered her niece telling her that she inherited her intolerance from her mother. So, for her adopted sister to have the same thing was something else.

"I thought I was really sick when all of that happened."

The sad voice of Vee broke Lilith from her thoughts, and the potionist looked at the young creature. She could feel her heart break slightly when she saw that Vee had curled more into herself, and looked ready to start crying.

With a small sigh and a smile, the ex-coven head carefully got closer and gently took the basilisk into a small embrace. Vee flinched slightly but didn't try to break free. Instead, she leaned a bit more into the embrace and took in the witch's scent.

It wasn't like the scent of roses and lavender that Vee was used to, but the scent was enough to soothe her nerves. Soon, she felt herself relax completely as Lilith began to run a hand through the basilisk's hair.

"When mo-Camila calmed me down," Vee began, "And explained things to me I don't understand my body fully works and that scares me."

Lilith frowned as she thought back to the many secret rooms that were uncovered when Belos was defeated. Among them was the room where the Basilisk project was housed. She didn't understand the report completely, but apparently, Philip had used a mix of magic to bring five fossilized eggs back to life.

So, it's understandable that someone brought back in such a manner wouldn't understand their bodies. And this made Lilith's hatred of that human jump another 10 points.

"And…I know it's silly," Vee said weakly, bringing Lilith out of her thoughts. "But I'm jealous of Luz for having not one but two childhoods."

Lilith looked at Vee and saw she was staring at Luz's baby book, and she smiled.

"Would you like to join Luz and Amity this weekend?" the ex-head coven asked kindly.

Vee looked at the witch in confusion, blinking two times.

(Two days later)

"UGGGHHH," Luz groaned as she slumped on the kitchen's island. "This part is so boring!"

The Owl Familia was currently in the kitchen waiting as Lilith finished prepping the rejuvenation potions for the "knock-Down" weekend that was to come.

"What did you think, Luz?" Amity asked good-naturedly. "That mom would just say some words, wave her hands and everything would be ready?"

Camila didn't even try to stop the small giggle that escaped her when Luz's only response was to groan into the island again. It was clear to the older human that this was a thing the group did to pass the time.

However, she was curious about one thing.

"But why are you mixing the potion with juice?" Camila asked curiously.

Lilith stopped mixing for a moment and looked at the newest member of her family with a kind smile.

"The answer is quite simple; rejuvenation potions are so strong it's easier to get the desired results by diluting it with something like a drink."

"And it helps with the titan-awfully taste," Eda added with a catty grin. "I wished I could have done that with my old elixirs."

Camila ignored the offhand comment and watched as Lilith finished mixing and she pooled the potion into three shot glasses. Lilith must have sensed Camila staring and she continued with her explanation.

"Dosage also plays an important role in using rejuvenation potions correctly. Too low of a dosage and you might not reach the desired age or the time you would like to remain in such a state. Isn't that right, Edalyn?"

Now it was Eda's turn to groan and send a glare her sister's way. "Are you ever going to get off my back about that?"

"Sister, if you had been legal at the time," Lilith began, making her way to the fridge, "Your commitment to your craft would have been called into question."

Eda snorted and put her hands on her hips in defiance. "Look, it may not have worked like I wanted but I wouldn't change a thing."

Camila noticed the looks on the kids' faces and couldn't help but ask, "I take it this is also normal?"

The older human giggled when Luz and Amity nodded their heads.

Lilith returned to the island and handed the teens a black potion each. Camila watched as her daughter and fiance looked at the vial with sour expressions. Both just sighed, opened the vial, and down the potion in one go. The vet watched as the two visibly shuddered and grimaced at the taste.

"May ask what the second potion was for?" Camila asked curiously.

"The way a rejuvenation potion works is that it takes ten hours to alter someone," Lilith explains kindly. "Two hours to settle into a person's body and eight hours to rejuvenate. It also takes about eight hours for someone to return to their natural age."

"What our kids just drank was part of an acceleration agent," Eda suddenly said, "It will stay in them until they get the other half. That will cut the return in half and allow them to stay the full weekend knocked-down."

Camila nodded, still not fully understanding the process, but trusted the elder witches on the matter.

Vee looked at the glass in front of her as Luz and Amity took their glasses and drank the potion without a second thought. Some part of her thought about making a lame joke, about not needing the potion. She quickly pushed that thought aside.

Lilith and Eda had been nothing back kind to her this past week; Lilith had assured her that if she didn't like it, she wouldn't have to do this again. So, swallowing all of her doubts, Vee gingerly took the glass and downed her potion.

"Now, I guess we, wait?" the young basilisk asked uncertainty.

The founding members of the Owl Familia nodded, and Eda suddenly brought Camila close.

"And you're sleeping with me tonight, Pads."

The human vet let out a cute noise and had a faint blush on her cheeks. The Familia got a good laugh out of that, and Vee could feel some of her worry ease.

(The Next Morning)

Eda and Camila woke up at about the same time, and a quick check on the clock confirmed the time.

"Did something go wrong with the potion?" the vet asked, a hint of worry creeping into her voice.

Eda slowly shook her head, trying to keep the worry out of her face. It was well past nine o'clock, so the kids should have finished getting "knocked-down" nearly 90 minutes ago.

"No, I and Lily had done this for over 4 months," Eda replied, trying to soothe her nerves. "So something else must have happened."

Like the titan answering her, the door opened and the "knock-down" Coven walked slowly into the room. Vee's hands were being held by Luz and Amity, and the "knocked-down" Basilisk was crying silently.

"V-V's sad," Luz told the adult sadly.

The sight just broke Camila's heart, and the human was out of the witch's nest in an instant. Despite her concerns, she approached her adopted daughter slowly. Vee heard someone coming and looked up, her eyes wide with terror. The human put on a warm smile and kneeled so the two were near eye level.

"Hola, my poca cria," Camila said warmly. "Do you know who I am?"

Vee just had to look at the face of the woman she now sees as her mother and her fears disappeared. Vee turned suddenly shy and looked at the floor. Camila wouldn't allow this, and gently cupped Vee's face. She made the shape-shifter look into her warm eyes, and silently urged her.

"M-Mommy," Vee squeaked cutely with a blush appearing on her cheeks.

Camila beamed with motherly pride and she scooped her little demon into a hug. She cuddled Vee as she nestled against the demon's cheeks. Vee didn't even try to stop the warm giggle that escaped her.

"That's right, my poca cria," Camila gushed warmly, "I'm you mami, and I don't want you to ever forget that."

Eda had watched all of this and couldn't help but smile warmly at the scene. She suddenly groaned when a familiar weight dropped on her lap. She sent her adopted daughter a good-natured glare and wrapped the human in a hug.

"Can't stand to be out of the light, huh, witchlet?" Eda asked humorously.

Luz's only response was to giggle heartedly and that caused Eda's smile to return. She heard another giggle and looked at the door to see Amity giggling behind her hands. With a good-natured eye roll, Eda whistled, and Amity was suddenly lifted off the floor.

It looked like the "knocked-down" witch was about to fly into her aunt's arms when Lilith came up behind her daughter. She quickly canceled her sister's spell and took her daughter into a hug.

"I am so glad I got the good child," the ex-coven head said lightheartedly and kissed Amity on the forehead. "Though I hate to break up this tender moment, breakfast is ready, and it's best eaten warm."

Right on cue, the stomachs of the "Knocked-down" coven growled. The mother shared a laugh when their daughters' faces went red. Eda, with Luz in her arms, got out of bed, and together the Owl Familia went downstairs for breakfast.

Breakfast was just some oatmeal, or what passed as oatmeal in the demon, and toast. The second Eda put Luz on her high chair, the human dove face-first into her meal. Camila may have known what was coming, but that didn't stop her from giggling.

She had truly forgotten how adorable her daughter was at her current age.

"Mija," Camila said warmly.

The human adult suddenly gasp when she watched Amity dive face-first into her meal. Camila was about to say something when she saw Vee eyeing her meal uncertainty.

'Go ahead, Cria," Camila urged with a warm smile. "You might have fun."

Vee looked at her mother and then back at her meal, still uncertain. She took a small breath and then dove into her meal. It took Vee less of a second to get into things and she began eating with gusto.

The mothers couldn't help but smile and laugh warmly at this. It was just too adorable not to like. Camila suddenly felt a tap on her shoulder and looked into the smiling face of her fellow mother. Eda held out a camera and the human took it.

The vet got a quick run down on how a demon camera works and then got into a good angle. Once she was sure she had all three "knock-downs" in the picture, she took it. She took two more just so Eda and Lilith would have copies for their books.

"Now, the fun for the adults can begin," Eda said in a challenging tone, confusing the human.

(SC)

Turns out the fun Eda was talking about was bathing the kids. In the end, the Sisters Clawthorne made it into a game of who could, after bathing the kids, get them out of the fastest. The loser would have to do the dishes throughout the entire weekend.

Camila remembered how much Luz loved baths when she was little, but add Amity into the mix and you get some adorable antics that require more pictures. Once Vee joined in the bath, it took the mothers 20 minutes to get their kids out of the bath and dried.

Camila was the winner of "bath wars", though she suspected that the witches let her win. Now, with the bath done, it was time to move on to "mommy-kiddy" time, as Eda called it. That meant Camila was about to see the only room she was denied during the house tour nearly a week ago.

But, with a name like the "Knocked-down" room, she could figure out what was behind the door. Camila was right; the second she entered the room, she saw a room truly fit for someone the kids' current age.

To the human left was a dresser, a mother/daughter vanity, and a toy chest with a chicken plush on it, colored lilac. The same items were to the human's right and were clearly Luz's if the rainbow colors were anything to go on.

Camila couldn't help but stare at the rabbit plush on her daughter's toy chest. A light blush formed on her cheeks as she imagined Luz taking a nap and cuddling the toy.

Lilith's warm and motherly voice broke the human out of her daydream.

"Now, how do you want your hair for the weekend? Matching or different?"

Camila watched as matching smiles blossomed on the "knock-down" couple's face, and they intertwine their hands where their soul stone bracelets usually rest.

"Matching!"

Camila didn't know how much more she could take; it's been barely two hours and she could feel her heart ready to explode from cuteness overload. Thankfully, she didn't have to endure this alone.

"Why do you ask that every time, Lily?" Eda asked good-naturally.

Lilith offered her sister a smile and replied, "Because it's cute."

Eda rolled her eyes and she and Luz went over to Luz's side of the room, and Lilith took Amity to her side. Camila watched as the mothers began to get the kids ready for the day, and then looked at Vee with a soft smile.

The "knock-down" basilisk's eyes were sparkling as she looked at the dressers. Vee was no doubt thinking about all of the pretty dresses she could try on.

Camila couldn't help but giggle as she said, " Cria, would you like to try on some dresses? I'm sure your…sister would mind. Right, Mija?"

The human looked at her human daughter, and Luz nodded eagerly. Camila giggled when saw her daughter's action had caused the brush Eda was using to go flying out of the witch's hand. Unsurprisingly, the ex-wild witch just pick up another brush from the vanity and went back to things.

Camila just chuckled at this, and then looked at her other daughter. She frowned as she noticed was Vee was doing; she was trying to change into her human form. She watched as Vee's scale started to soften, and change color. She didn't get far, as Vee popped back into her normal form.

Vee looked at her body in confusion, and tried again; she brought her hands close to her chest and shut her eyes tight. The "knocked-down" creature's body began to shake as she tried to shift again. She got a little further this; her tail starting to shift into a pair of legs. It didn't last and Vee popped back to normal.

The basilisk was about to cry as she tried one last time, and the results ended the same. The entire scene would have been cute if Vee's sad face wasn't pulling at Camila's heart.

Thankfully, Luz came to her sister's recuse; she jumped off her chair and rushed up to Vee. She whispered something in the basilisk's ears, and then her face lit up as Vee looked at her in awe.

Vee gave a determined nod, and Luz took a step back as Vee tried one more time. Everyone in the room watched with curiosity as Vee began to shake. At first, they couldn't see any changes happening. Soon, however, the Owl Familia could see Vee's tail starting to shrink.

Camila gasped as she realized what Luz had suggested, and couldn't help but encourage her demon daughter. "You can do it, cria!"

Vee nodded and pushed just a little harder. With a small pop sound, her tail turned into a pair of legs. She opened her eyes with a gasp and looked at her new legs. They were like the best of her body and had small claws on them.

Still, she was beaming with childish pride as she looked up at her mother. Despite having seen Vee change many times before, this time felt different. It felt like Camila was watching her daughter take her first steps, and she couldn't help but gush.

"OOOHH, I'm so proud of you, cria!" the human screamed with motherly pride and scooped Vee into a hug. "Now, about we try on some pretty dresses?"

With a light blush, Vee nodded eagerly.

While Luz and Amity had gone with their trademarked "knocked-down" looks, Vee had spent 30 minutes trying on outfits until they found Vee's own "knocked-down" look.

Vee had gone with a long sleeve pale orange dress that complemented her scales nicely. The skirt of the dress was flat and went past Vee's knees, and she wore a pair of brown sandals.

To complete her look, Vee had had hair tied back into a ponytail that rested on the top of her head, and she had an orange bandana tied around her head. There was a picture of a pumpkin on the bandana.

All and all, Vee was too cute for words, and Camila insisted the three lined up so she could get a picture. So, Luz and Amity held their plush toys in their hands as their stood next to Vee, and all smiled with cute faces as Camila took a picture.

"And here I thought I have seen every fang-rotting cutey stuff our kids could show us," Eda said offhandedly.

Luz got a mischievous look in her eyes, and she whispered something to the others. The three looked back at their mothers and their eyes were sparkling mischievously.

"You just had to say something, sister," Lilith groaned, but had a good-natured smile.

"Oh, Auntie Edy-" the current bard witch blushed when she heard her new family member call her aunt.

"Auntie Wu-" Lilith giggled with a light blush at her human niece's voice.

"Auntie Cammy-" Camila gasped as she heard her future daughter-in-law call to her in such a cute way.

"-LUVE YOU!" the three said with cute pouts.

Well, that was it for the three mothers; Camila put down the camera and rushed over to the "knock-down" kids, alongside the witches. The human took Amity, Eda took Vee, and Lilith took Luz in hugs and began kissing their cheeks.

The group of six was so busy, they didn't see a certain loveable ex-scout enter the room. Steve took the camera and took three pictures. He carefully placed the photos on a dresser and took his leave before anyone realized he was there.
