The next day. Dave turned off his alarm and flipped over and put his arm around Hunter.
"Morning." Hunter said groggily
"Morning. How did you sleep?" Dave asked
"Fine." Hunter said
"So. You have any work you -have to do today?" Dave asked
"I have a showing I need to do." Hunter said
"Okay. Well. I am taking the next couple weeks off till some of this calms down. I'm calling the highschool both girls need the day off at least." Dave said
Hunter nodded. "Okay."
"Let me know what your schedule for the week is like so I can make you that massage appointment." Dave said
Hunter took a breath and nodded. "Okay."
"And I'm going to tell you because we are a team. Rosie had a complete breakdown last night. I will make sure its handled I just would want to know if the roles were reversed." Dave said
Hunter nodded. "Okay."
"You do what you have to for work today. And let me handle everything else today." Dave said
Hunter let out a breath. "I do need to go to the hospital."
"Does it have to be you?" Dave asked
"Yes. Have to talk to the doctors about the next step." Hunter said
"Okay. I will get someone to come stay with the kids. I will go with you." Dave said
"Dave. You don't have to." Hunter said
"Aaron has made it clear if I don't ask for help with something he will show up anyways. So I will get him or someone else to come stay with the kids. Bring Jack too so they can all play together. And I am going with you to the hospital. To support you." Dave said, "I assume its sometime this afternoon?"
"Yeah. Scheduled for four." Hunter said
"Okay. Perfect." Dave said kissing him. They both got up and got ready for the day. Dave went and woke up the younger five. Telling Hayley who was waking up to stay in bed. She was getting a much-needed day off. He went to Rosie's room and told her the same thing. Rosie tried to argue but Dave told her he was not giving her a choice. Rosie sighed.
She waited till her dad was distracted and snuck out the house and went to school.
Dave got the kids all fed and ready for school and on the bus to school and Hunter out the door to work. He went and checked on Hayley who was asleep again. Dave smiled and went to check on Rosie and found she was gone. He looked outside and saw her car was gone. He sighed. He looked at Sascha and shook his head.
"Rosie is so unbelievable stubborn." He said to the dog
Sascha barked.
Dave chuckled "Was that an agreement? Come on lets get you some food." He said
Sascha followed Dave and Dave fed him and let him outside afterwards.
Rosie got to school and went to her class. She got there just in time. She went through her day. In pre-calculus her teacher went to her desk. "You still interested in that retake?" he asked her
"Yes sir." Rosie said
"You have studied I trust?" He asked
"Yes." Rosie said
"Come at lunch time. You can eat your lunch while you do it." He said
"Okay. Thank you!" Rosie said
"You should tell your friends. Pretty sure every one of them came to me begging me to let you do a retake and to look at your past record as an example of how that grade is not a normal for you." He said
Rosie's jaw dropped.
"Yeah. Figured you had no idea." He said with a smile. "Lunch."
"I will be here." Rosie said with a smile.
She went to a final class before lunch and as she went to her locker to get her lunch and she had a text from her dad.
'Come home at lunch.' He said
Rosie texted him back 'I cant. Mr. Huffman is giving me my retake at lunch. I'm okay. I can finish the day. Sorry I disobeyed you.' She sent before putting her phone back in her locker and grabbing her lunch and what she needed for the test and went to the class and did her test. When she finished she handed it in. "Thank you." She said
"No problem. You are a smart girl with a bright future. In the future don't stress about one grade." He said
"I cant afford a bad grade. Harvard is my top choice. If I get one bad grade." Rosie said
"Harvard is an amazing university. But you don't need to go to a top university to be good at whatever you choose to do in the future." He said
"But it certainly will help me get into the better companies. And make the big bucks." Rosie said
"Money isn't everything Miss Rossi." He said
"No. Its not. I agree. But we need money in this world." Rosie said
"True." He said "Go."
Rosie went to her locker where Nolan was standing with her favorite giant cookie from the cafeteria. She smiled
"How was the test?" Noel asked
"It was good. Did much better." Rosie said
"Good." Noel said
"So. Were you one of the friends who went to him?" Rosie asked
Noel smiled "Yes."
Rosie sighed
"I know you said you wanted to handle it yourself but given everything you have been through we wanted to help, and this was how we decided to do so." Nolan said
"Fine." Rosie said kissing him
He kissed her back and they both went to their next class. When Rosie finished her day she saw a new text from her dad.
'You are to come straight home after school. If you do not you will be in far more trouble than you already are for disobeying me.' Dave had sent her.
Rosie sighed and grabbed her stuff and went straight home.
Dave came to the door arms crossed.
"That look isn't going to make me regret going to school. I did the retake and know I did much better." Rosie said
"I'm glad but it could have waited for another day." Dave said
"What if I didn't show up today and he decided not to give me a chance?" Rosie asked
Dave shook his head. "When I tell you to do something. You do it. I don't speak just to waste my breath."
Rosie sighed "Yes sir." She said
Dave swatted her butt hard. "Don't disobey me again."
Rosie yelped "Yes sir." She said
"I am going to the hospital to meet Papa. Derek is staying with you and Hayley and the littles when they get home. You do as he says." Dave said
"Yes sir." Rosie said
"Derek. Hey." She said
"Hey bubbles." Derek said
"You know you're a smart man you cant come up with a better nickname?" She asked with a smirk
Derek chuckled "Nicknames don't have to be 'smart' they just need to fit the person. And considering how bubbly you can be."
"Wait I though it was because of blowing bubbles with Jack and Henry?" Rosie asked
"Can have multiple reasons." Derek said
Dave kissed her head. "I love you."
"I love you too. And I didn't need the day off." She said before she walked away quickly.
Dave shook his head and looked at Derek "Thank you."
"Always here to help Dave." Derek said, "I don't think I have ever seen a teen fight to go -to school."
Dave chuckled "I'm glad she loves school. But she needs some time off."
"I don't disagree. If you don't mind I can try talking to her about it?" Derek offered
"Go ahead. And I wish you luck." Dave said he left.
Derek went followed where Rosie had gone. Found her in the living room with Hayley
"Did I miss anything good at lunch today?" Hayley asked
"Not sure. I did a makeup test at lunch." Rosie said
"Dad was pissed when you said no to coming home at lunch." Hayley said
Rosie chuckled and shrugged "Not the first and wont be the last time I piss him off."
"Would you two like a snack?" Derek asked
Rosie looked up. "I distinctly remember Penelope telling you to stay out of the kitchen when we were at the cabin because if you look at food it messes up."
Derek chuckled "She exaggerated. I can put together a snack thank you very much."
Hayley chuckled
"I can make a snack myself. Thank you for the offer." Rosie said
"Same." Hayley said
"I've been told to make sure you -both have a snack." Derek said
Rosie rolled her eyes and got up and went and put together a snack.
Derek followed "Did you roll your eyes at me?"
"No. I rolled them at my dad." Rosie said
"Really because your dad isn't here." Derek said
"But that statement was coming from my dad. God forbid I don't have a snack when I come home because I'm not hungry." Rosie said
Derek sighed. "Rose. He doesn't want you to end up where you were."
"I know. And I don't want to be there either. And not having a snack when I get home wont trigger it. If I started skipping multiple meals I could understand but one. Fucking. Snack." Rosie said
"Have you tried to talk to him about this?" Derek asked
"Of course." Rosie said, "When it comes to my eating he doesn't listen."
Derek nodded. "Okay. Well eat something. Doesn't have to be a lot. And I will see if I can get him to lay off you abit."
"How you going to do that?" Rosie asked
"Talk to him." Derek said
"I wish you luck." She said grabbing a couple snack pack things that had cheese and some nuts in it and a can of Dr. Pepper and going to sit down in the living room. Handing Hayley one of the snack packs.
Hayley took it "Thanks."
"Yup. Figured don't want to get him in trouble because we didn't do what we were told." Rosie said
"You're pissed at Derek?" Hayley asked
"No. At dad." Rosie said
"Ah. Yeah." Hayley said
"How are you feeling?" Rosie asked
"Bit nauseous." Hayley said
"Nauseous?" Derek asked
"Yup." Hayley said
"You getting sick?" Derek asked
"No." Hayley said
"Than what is it?" Derek asked
Hayley looked at Rosie and smirked.
"May I?" Rosie asked
"Go for it." Hayley said with a smirk
"For a profiler you are pretty damn clueless." Rosie said
"What?" Derek asked
"I'm pregnant." Hayley said
"Wait. What? Wh…" Derek clued in and nodded
"Will -you help me kill him?" Rosie asked Derek
"No. I will make sure he is punished to the full extent of the law." Derek said
"Boring." Rosie said
"Rosie. Leave it alone. Let the legal system do its job." Derek said
"Whatever." Rosie said
"I'm just verifying. Your parents know?" Derek asked
"Yes." Hayley said
"Okay." Derek said, "You need anything you let me know."
Hayley nodded. "Thank you. I will."
Rosie got up. "I've got homework."
"Why don't you leave it for tomorrow?" Derek asked
"Because it needs to be done by tomorrow." Rosie said
"I don't think you are going to school tomorrow." Derek said
"Yes I am." Rosie said walking away and going to her room.
"Yeah. She is as stubborn as it gets." Hayley said
"I have realized that yes." Derek said "You okay? Need gingerale or anything?"
"I'm okay." Hayley said
"Do you know what you are going to do?" Derek asked
Hayley shrugged.
"Just so you know. I would never judge any decision you make." Derek said
"Thanks." Hayley said
The front door opened, and the littles all came inside.
Derek went to meet them and help them get winter gear off. Hayley went and put together a snack for them. Derek came into the kitchen "You know I can actually cook." Derek said with a smirk
Hayley chuckled. "I'm sure you can. Just wanted to help."
The littles all had snacks.
"Whomever has homework. You should go start it." Derek said
Callie and the twins went to start. The younger two went to watch some cartoons.
Hayley took a breath. "I'm going to go lay down."
"You okay?" Derek asked
"Just tired." Hayley said before she went off.
Derek went and knocked on Rosie's door
"Yes?" Rosie said
Derek went in. "Wow your book collection has grown."
Rosie chuckled and pointed to under her bed. "Three boxes of books. No space on the shelves left."
Derek chuckled "I can build you some hanging shelves. If you would like. And your dad is okay with it."
"Thanks. That would be great. I'll ask him." Rosie said
"But only if you co-operate with him." Derek said
"Ah. A bribe." Rosie said
"No. A reward for good behaviour." Derek said with a smirk
"Like a prisoner. Oh okay. That makes sense." She said with a smirk
Derek laughed "You definitely have that quick wit down."
"Derek. I'm sixteen. I need to not miss school unless it is absolutely necessary. This year and next year are going to be the two years collages look at. If I miss a lot of school. It wont look good." Rosie said
Derek nodded. "I get that. But if you end up making yourself sick because you don't take mental health days when you need them you wont get to collage at all."
Rosie let out a breath.
"Do you really think you don't need a couple days?" Derek asked, "He told me about your break down last night."
Rosie sighed.
"We all get to points where we cant take anymore. How about this. I will talk to your dad. I will take tomorrow off. I will get what I need and come build you the book shelves. And you can help me. Let me teach you. You get a day off like he wants but you are doing something productive." Derek said
Rosie nodded abit "Okay."
"Good." Derek said. "How's the homework coming?"
"Not bad." Rosie said
"What are your classes this year?" Derek asked
"pre-calculus, chemistry, english, german, social studies, Phys-ed, and photography." Rosie said
"Favorite class?" Derek asked
"Photography." Rosie said
"Least favorite?" Derek asked
"At the moment german." Rosie said
"Ah. Yeah. Why did you take german?" Derek asked
"Already did two years of Italian." Rosie said
"Did you have to do another language?" Derek asked
"No. But I might want to travel some day. Good to know as many languages as possible." Rosie said
"You want to visit Germany?" Derek asked
"I want to visit the world." Rosie said
Derek nodded. "I think that's great. But to get there. You need to take care of your wellbeing."
"I get it. I will take tomorrow off." Rosie said
Derek nodded.
"Go ahead. Tell my dad you got through to me." Rosie said
Derek chuckled. "I didn't come talk to you just for your dad's sake. I did it because I care about you bubbles."
Rosie smiled abit. "I really hate that nickname."
Derek shrugged. "We don't get to pick our own nicknames."
"I'm going to come up with something for you." Rosie said
Derek chuckled. "Go for it." He got up. "Emily knows a lot of languages. She might be able to help you with the german."
"I'll ask. Thanks." Rosie said
Derek left her room and went and checked on everyone before going and sitting with Scar and Kara to watch the cartoons they were watching.
Dave and Hunter came into the house around 6 with takeout. The kids all came down for dinner. Dave told Derek he was staying and not to argue.
"See. How annoying he can be." Rosie said to Derek.
Derek smirked and shrugged.
"Its called caring for the people we care about." Hunter said to her.
Rosie shook her head and sat down.
They all started to eat.
"I noticed Rosie's got an overflow of books. I could build some hanging bookcases to give her some more room." Derek said
Dave nodded abit. "I'm sure you could."
"I could do it tomorrow. Since she will be taking the day off she could help." Derek said
Dave got the point Derek was making. "Okay. Hunter any issues?"
"No." Hunter said
"Okay. Sounds great." Dave told Derek.
They finished eating and Rosie and Callie cleared up the kitchen.
The other kids all went off to find things to do.
"They didn't give you any trouble?" Dave asked Derek
"Nope." Derek said
"Good." Hunter said
"I did tell Rose. I would talk to you about something." Derek said
"Okay." Dave said
"I have no experience with anyone with an eating disorder. And you obviously do. And maybe I got played. But I also think if she is pushed to eat when she isn't hungry it could cause other eating disordered behaviours." Derek aid
"I've been telling you this for weeks." Hunter told Dave
Dave let out a breath.
"And I think I have said what I need to. I will see you tomorrow." Derek said getting up and leaving
"If she starts skipping meals we can deal with it than. But I think its time you let her take over her own eating." Hunter said, "Something that can be taken off your plate."
"And added to hers." Dave said
"Its her plate that it should be on. We will watch her but let her take the control back." Hunter said
"Okay." Dave said
"I will talk to her about it?" Hunter offered
"Okay." Dave said
"I will let her know about our appointment as well." Hunter said
"Good." Dave said, "And let her know she doesn't go there will be consequences."
"I will yes." Hunter said
"And the same goes for you." Dave said with a smirk
Hunter chuckled. "Okay." He got up and kissed him "Thank you for going with me. It really helped."
Dave kissed him "Will always have your back."
Hunter went and knocked on Rosie's door.
"Yes." Rosie said
Hunter went in. "How was your afternoon?"
"Fine. Got my homework done." Rosie said
"Good." Hunter said he sat on her bed. "So. Dad and I talked. And Derek put his two-sense in. We are going to ease up on you and eating. We will still be keeping an eye on you, but you control when you eat, what you eat. So on." Hunter said "If we see you slipping back into old habits we will take back over. Okay?"
Rosie smiled. "Yes. Understood. Thank you."
"Good. And we have our massages tomorrow morning. 9am. You argue about going. There will be consequences." Hunter said
"Wont argue. I will be up and ready to go." Rosie said
"Good." Hunter said
"Did dad tell you I did my retake?" Rosie asked
"He did while he told me you went to school after he told you not to." Hunter said
Rosie let out a breath.
"How was the test?" Hunter asked
"Good. Did much better I know it." Rosie said
"Good." Hunter said. "The next time you ignore something dad or I tell you to do you will be over my knee. Understood?"
"Yes sir." Rosie said
"So. More bookshelf space coming." Hunter said with a smile
"Yes. I'm looking forward to learning how to build it too." Rosie said
Hunter smiled "Good. Now its getting late you should get some sleep."
"Just going to shower and than go to bed." Rosie said
"Good." Hunter said. He kissed her head and left her room
The house started to quiet down with everyone in bed in the next hour
