Hey guys, What's up? Chirith here, back with another chapter.
This is the last chapter for the 1st arc, the arrival arc, this arc speaks about the two years Ren has lived in Orario. The next arc would probably have Ren's life in Orario during the time between after this arc and before Hestia arrives which is six months before Canon.
If you guys are confused, Ren already leveled up several times Before this chapter as it is a few months after the last one.
Disclaimer: I do not own Danmachi, only my OC and the plot of this fic.
Well, onto the reviews!
Shen1412 - Formerly Enigma95: Well, you won't be disappointed at what this chapter will have.
P2YCH0P0MP: Who knows, but she is so adorable! Sadly, I just got back to Genshin after being trapped in offline Video game hell. I'm looking at you Kingdom come: Deliverance! You too, Skyrim! Side note, I saw you have Couer as a favorite author. Hello, my fellow person of culture, I made a jaune fic inspired by his inspired destiny, I should update that.
razorhusky234: Definitely not a RenxFreya. These two are more like siblings than anything. I am not completely sure who to ship Ren with but Freya is a definite no. Riveria is actually a top candidate among others. Girls such as Hestia, Lilli, Ais, etc., are a definite no.
"Strange, has anyone seen Ren?" Freya, the goddess of love, asked her children she entered the room where the executives were. Suddenly, everyone looked at her and started to wonder, where is their fellow executive?
"Ren said he would not be attending several meetings because he was looking for a place to have a house built by a lake near Orario," Ottar answered, remembering the conversation he had with his fellow executive.
"Huh? Is that why he had his helpers hire some builders?" Allen Frommel added. "I saw some of them running around some guys from the Goibniu Familia."
"Maybe, he's building his retirement home?" Offered Hogni as he took a bite of some pudding. "He told me, he wanted one near a peaceful countryside and I'm welcome to visit."
"Why not ask him?" Hedin offered as he looked at his fellow executives. A small white orb with feathery wings landed on his shoulder. "My Golem saw him on the line for entry into Orario."
"I see," Freya replied before noticing something. "Is there something wrong, Hedin?"
"I... It's better for you to see this." Hedin, the former elven king set the winged orb on the ground and it opened up in the middle, revealing a set of teeth and an image appeared in the air.
Their missing executive, dressed in simple clothes with a rugged fur traveling cloak around him carried a young white-haired elven girl on his shoulders, smiling as she pointed at numerous things excitedly.
They all saw how their usually stressed fellow executive chuckled and explained things to her. Fou, was on her shoulders and that was until he set her down once it was their turn.
"..."
"..."
"..."
"Did he kidnap a little girl?" One of the four quadruplets asked, only to be smacked on the head by his brothers.
"Wait... It's not done yet." The image was still playing and a few minutes later, it showed Ren buying and spoiling the little girl. The sight made someone's heart ache yet strengthened their resolve. That was still happening until a certain high elf appeared in front of Ren alongside a certain blonde.
"Interesting," Freya said as she sa on the chair, followed by her executives.
The advisor
"Fou! Fou!"
"Princess, slow down," I said to the adorable child in front of me with a cloak around her. It was small like her and it made her look cuter.
"But, Ren!" She whined while stopping as her stomach let out a growl and her face turned red.
"Now, now. No need for any whining. I'll spend tomorrow with you again." I told her with a smile.
Smiling at my answer, she rushed to my side and immediately held my hand with her own small ones.
"Come on, let's get some Jagamarkun."
"Jagamarkun?" she tilted her head as she asked that, her green eyes filled with confusion and curiosity.
"They're fried potatoes," I answered as I walked with her. There were a lot of people in Orario, all from various races, backgrounds, etc.
"Can I have some? Like a lot?!"
"Of course, but only enough for you to eat and finish," I said as I gently carried her with one arm using my gauntlet-covered right arm.
Arriving at the stall that sold said treats, I gently sat her down on a nearby bench and bought some. A somewhat spicy version for me, and one good for children.
"Here you go." She took the fried treat with both hands and excitedly bit into it. She recoiled and pulled her mouth off the snack before having her eyes tear up.
"It's too hot!" She complained as she looked at it.
"Let it cool first," I said to her as I took a seat by her right
She took some breaths to blow at the snack before biting it.
"It's good!" She said with a smile, her pointy ears twitching as she ate more and more.
"One more," I said to the stall employee who nodded and made some more.
Life was good. Nothing can make me feel anything else.
"I'm surprised to see you without your mask."
Except for her.
My possible Fiancee.
"Riveria," I greeted before noticing something. She was not alone, she had Ais with her. She was looking at the Jagamarkun on my hand.
Fuck it.
"Come on, my treat," I said as I handed the little one another Jagamarkun.
I just blinked for a moment and the sword princess was already beside me, looking at me expectantly. She reminds me of a dog like this.
"Ais," With one word, the sword princess backed off, and was she shivering?
Not my problem. "Do you want some?" The little girl by my side showed the piece of snack in her hand to the sword princess.
Seeing this, Ais knelt and smiled at her before taking a bite of the fried potato snack, making her smile.
Is this what being a proud father feels like?
"Stop that, that grin is unsettling,"
And just like that, my happiness was chained by Riveria.
"Shut up, mother hen," I said, and it was a success, she glared at me with a hint of red on her face. Hah! I won! Feeling a tug on my cloak, I focused my attention on the girl beside me.
"Are you fighting?" Her green eyes were tearing up. Oh no, oh no! Don't cry!
"No, no, no. We're not crying, right?" I said while giving the elven princess a look.
"Yes we are little one," She said with a faint smirk.
You fucking knife-eared asshole! A pout was aimed at me.
"You promised..." The little princess said as her eyes teared up even more. She's sobbing.
What do I do?!
I'm only good with killing stuff!
"I'm only joking, little one," Riveria said, kneeling on the ground to match the little princess' eye level.
Hearing this, the little one looked at her with tear-stained eyes. "Really?" She asked through sobs. Reaching into my pockets, I pulled out a clean handkerchief and wiped her tears.
"Yes, it's something we do all the time." Okay, that was definitely true. Ever since she found out my real face, she would often have some way of teasing me as we brainstormed ways to cancel our impending engagement and removing my Count status in her home forest.
I have no intention of being a member of the nobility. Too many rules and things to remember.
"Now, why don't you stay here with Ais, I have some things to talk about with your..." She looked at me. "Who is she?"
"Oh, I forgot about that. This is Nahida," I said, introducing the child to her.
"Her eyes..." Riveria said as she looked at Nahida.
"Ren is my uncle!"
My heart!
So cute!
"Excuse me, Nahida." The future queen of the elves rose to her feet and grabbed the back of my clothes. "Ais, take care of little Nahida, and feel free to eat with her."
"We will," Ais said as she eyed the Jagamarkun while Nahida.
"Please... don't hurt uncle Ren."
My heart. My soul.
"Your uncle and I would need to talk. I promise I won't hurt him."
"Okay..." She said, a bit unsure as she watched me get dragged away by the violent woman.
"I see, so that's what happened," Riveria said as we stopped in a stall that sells bottled drinks.
"Yeah, not really proud of what I did, but it works," I replied while handing her a bottle of juice. "She'll hate me if she knew the truth."
"Ren, the position you gained is a demanding one," Riveria said as she took the bottle. "But now, I know why you received it."
"Don't patronize me, princess," I said as I opened the bottle. Mango juice, my favorite.
"Nahida and her family are important to mine," Riveria said as she gave me a look, "and for you to do so without knowing..."
"She reminded me of some of my family back home." I cut in as an ethereal blue bird with a strip of paper inside it landed on my shoulder.
"So, you do have some weaknesses, you selfish human," Riveria said as he finished her bottle while I bought some for Ais and Nahida.
"Careful, Elf. Your true self is showing," I said with a smirk. "Can I ask you a favor?"
"What is it?" She asked while looking at me as we walked through the crowded streets of Orario back to where the kids were.
"Do you mind if Nahida stays in your Familia home, I don't want some idiots being a bad influence to her."
"You did not have to ask, I would just tell Loki," Riveria replied causing a small smile on my face. Honestly, she just loves children.
"Mother hen," I said without any bite as we walked.
"You're one to talk. You've been acting like you're her father." She said.
"No comments," I said as we arrived at the stall only to see a monster version of Dora the explorer.
Oh, she was arguing with Ais. Wait... why is.
Why is Nahida crying and her face... she has a bruise.
"Cruz! Don't do something-"
Huh? What was that Riveria?
Why is everyone kneeling, why are the walls cracking?
"Ke! Ke! Ke! Only if you were only as beautiful as me!" The monster Dora said as she towered over Ais and Nahida. "My beauty puts everyone to shame, even goddesses." She proclaimed.
"... You're nothing but an ugly bully!" Nahida cried out with tears in her eyes. Ais, it seems like I owe you a favor.
Allen is here, huh?
"You stupid brat!" Phryne shouted as she raised her hand. "I am even more beautiful than that slut Freya!"
"Hah! How Annooooyiiiing." I said as I walked ahead of Riveria. "Did no one tell you noooot to hit kiiids?"
"Keh! A cutie, huh? I'll have fun breaking you."
"Whaaaat a paaaaiiin" I said as I looked at her. "No thanks, I have someone else and my hand would be better than you ever will be." I said, making sure the last part was quiet enough for Nahida to not hear.
"You!" She charged at me, I could see Riveria try to move but I motioned for her not to.
"Nahida, please close your eyes. Ais, cover her ears please." I said, smiling as much as I could as I saw them do so.
"You brat!" The toad said as she brought her hand down. Just before it hit me, she was suddenly launched away.
"Whaaaaat a pain!"
"What was that?!" The monster Dora said as she stood up only to realize one thing, the right side of her chest was caved in, and her hand was hanging limply and was longer than usual as if it was a piece of spaghetti. "My arm! It hurts! How dare you do this to my beau-"
She turned quiet when I smashed the empty bottle on her jaw, sending shards across her face before jabbing the broken part I had in her throat. Suddenly, her body fell forward as fast as an Almiraj running away, pressing the glass shards into her throat deeper.
I pressed a boot, after storing my greaves inside my armory, on her head and made her look at me.
"Tell the others I killed hello if you see them," I said to her while allowing my burning Devouring Apocalypse to manifest. I could see how her body was slowly getting flattened and enjoyed how she let out some screams. "Tell them, the sage of Freya, sent you."
She not only insulted and blasphemed the one that saved me, the one that gave me another chance in life, the one that gave me a family, but she also hurt the one I swore to protect.
"Cruz, calm down." The voice of someone familiar and a hand on my shoulder pulled me out of the red-filled haze. Huh?
Countless amazoness were around me, all knocked out and foaming on their mouths while some buildings were damaged. What happened?
A green dress with a white apron, blonde hair, and pointy ears. Ryuu?!
"Ren!" Nahida shouted as she ran to me, wasting no time at the... FILTH on my boot, I gave Ryuu a nod and rushed to hug the scared little girl that held onto me tightly. "I was so scared."
"I know, sorry for leaving you," I said as I carried her in my arms.
"It's okay..." She said while holding me close. I could feel her peek over my shoulder and look at Ryuu. "Thank you for calming, Ren, pretty big sis."
Well, at least she is happy.
Man, picking up music as a hobby truly doe help your nerves.
"Farewell
To all the earthly remains
No burdens
No further debts to be paid
Atlas
Can rest his weary bones
The weight of the world
All falls away
In time"
No matter how much I stressed over and teased the other it seems like I'm no different. At least, Nahida would sleep properly tonight with Riveria. Maybe I can have her meet Mia. A harp does make the best noise, especially here.
"Goodbye
To all the plans that we made
No contracts
I'm free to do as I may
No hunger
No sleep except to dream
Mild and warm
Safe from all harm
Calm"
I should thank that man I met the other day for selling me this harp. It's pretty good. Even my audience thinks so too.
"Good riddance
To all the thieves
To all the fools that stifled me
They've come and gone
And passed me by
Good riddance
To all"
Maybe I should give Ais an Excelia booster as thanks for saving Nahida. I should go on a holiday. I'm losing my mind.
"Farewell
To all the earthly remains
No burdens
No further debts to be paid
Atlas
Can rest his weary bones
The weight of the world
All falls away
In time"
The sound of the song I played and sang resounded through the pleasure quarters from my position on top of its spire, A crescendo of ruins, roaring flames, screams, and destruction echoed through Orarior in a beautiful yet distorted symphony.
"Oh my God, I'm turning into a member of the simp faction..." I whispered as I looked at the bloody pile of blood, flesh, and guts that used to be Phryne. She was still alive, killing her would be too forgiving, her soul stuck into the broken pile of mass that was once her body while my audience, the other members of Ishtar Familia to fall to their knees in despair. Numerous bottles of broken priceless elixir could be found.
But, I guess this night is not such a waste. Crippling the Ishtar Familia, ruining their reputation by spreading some rumors about her, and taking away the Renard, a.k.a. the fox girl named Haruhime. The girl was passed with my jacket around her as a blanket.
"Hey, do you want to sing for me? Toads are not good singers, maybe you can sing for me?" I asked the members of Ishtar Familia as I looked at them. After all, like the others, I am a distorted remnant of what I once was. All of Freya's enemies will suffer and be destroyed. I will help her attain her wish, to get her Odr (fated one) as payment for all that she gave me.
HOO! Finally done!
Seems like Ren snapped and Ryuu snapped him out of it. I wonder what will happen next.
The song Ren is singing i called good riddance from the game, Hades.
Also, the Phryne is still alive just highly damaged. Don't forget that.
Any recommendations for girls to love Ren? Might give him a small harem.
What would be a good second name for him?
1. Utgard-Loki
2. Vana Yngvi
If I decide to add Daedric princes as deities, he will be known to them as the cursed gardener of Hermaeus Mora.
It's a cool name!
Also, the small orb with wings is based off of Timcanpy from and the blue bird is based off the swallow whips from Tokyo ravens. Both are good animes. Ren found a way to make them and the executives all have some. Freya uses her blue birds to scout some potential Familia members while the others use it for their gain.
Allen, for example, uses his to make sure Freya (as Syr) is kept an eye on at all times along with Anya.
The next chapter might be delayed due to me finding out about Skyrim mods... please help me.
Anyways, see you guys soon!
P.S.: I might rewrite my overpowered mage from Skyrim.
