I do not own Naruto or RWBY. Hello everyone, and welcome to Kaguya of Remnant. As the story description states, this is a "what-if" story about Kimimaro being in the RWBYverse. Hope you all enjoy
"Run, Kimimaro! Run!"
Young Kimimaro turned around to see his mother running through the streets of their town with black and white creatures chasing after her. He stretched out his hand and called out to her, but his voice didn't sound.
Kimimaro's mother stretched out her hand, but just as she reached her son, a clawed hand pierced through her chest. Blood spewed all over Kimimaro's face as he watched his mother get lifted off the ground and tossed to the side like a ragdoll. More of the black and white creatures emerged seemingly from out of nowhere and devoured his mother's corpse. He gazed up at the monster just as it was bringing its clawed hand down on top of him.
Kimimaro opened his eyes and sat up in his small bed, waking from his nightmare. It was the same one he'd had since he was a boy. Since his mother's death, the destruction of his village, and his father's disappearance. He got out of bed and walked to the window to look out over the city of Atlas. Kimimaro was a lean seventeen-year-old male with vivid green eyes, two red dots on his forehead, and long white hair that reached his midback with bangs that framed his face.
"Master Kimimaro? Are you awake?" The door opened and in walked an older, slightly overweight man with balding brown hair, a large, bushy mustache, and light brown eyes."Ah, good. Lord Schnee wishes to speak with you."
"Mhmm." Kimimaro gathered his clothing, which comprised a white, loose-fitting, long-sleeved, zip-up shirt with the Atlas insignia, dark blue pants that cut off mid-calf, ankle bandages, and open-toed, light-colored sandals.
"Also, young Ms. Schnee wanted you to meet her in the courtyard. I believe she said something about going shopping."
Kimimaro finished getting dressed and looked back at the man. "Thank you, Klein. I will see them immediately."
Klein gave a kind smile as his eyes flashed yellow. "You had another nightmare, didn't you?" Kimimaro didn't answer. "I know you've had it rough since the passing of your mother. You've endured a lot, and so much has been asked of you from Lord Schnee. I hope you know that you have friends here you can talk to." Kimimaro gave a small nod as he walked past the man and out into a massive hallway.
Kimimaro swiftly made his way to Jacques Schnee's office, where he could hear him arguing with someone. "I do not care what she wants! She is my daughter, and she will attend Atlas academy whether she likes it or not!"
"She does not want to stay under your constant gaze, father. She wants to venture out, discover who she is and what she wants to do with her life." There was a pause. "Besides, Professor Ozpin has already accepted her."
"He would DARE undermine me? And you support him?!"
"Of course not, father. I will inform Ozpin that you have rejected his offer and relay the news to Weiss."
"Good. Now, get out!" The door swung open and out walked Weiss' older sister, Winter. She eyed the young boy before making her way past him and down the hall. Jacques noticed the boy. "Kimimaro, enter!" Jacques rubbed his temples as Kimimaro entered the room before speaking, "I'm glad you made haste and came to see me. It seems that good for nothing Klein can do something right after all. I assume you heard what Winter and I were discussing?" Kimimaro gave a small nod. "Why would Weiss want to go to Beacon of all places? Atlas has the greatest school of them all with the best funding and technology." Kimimaro said nothing as he waited for Jacques to finish. Jacques sighed and said, "However, to rant is not why I've called you here. I've received disturbing news that someone may be targeting my daughter, Weiss, to get to me." Jacques folded his hands in front of his face. "I have my money on those damn Faunus workers that I had to lay off, but this type of cowardice is the sort of thing the White Fang is known. Weiss wanted to go out today, despite my disapproval, so I'm tasking you, Kimimaro, with watching over my daughter. See to it that no harm comes to her while in the city. Is that understood?" Kimimaro gave a small nod of acknowledgment before turning to leave. "Kimimaro." The boy turned his head. "I've known you since you were a young boy. You've never failed a task I've given you, but this one is of utmost importance. See to it that you tread carefully and protect my daughter."
"Of course, Lord Schnee." Kimimaro walked out of the room, closing the door behind him as he did so. He walked through the halls, was greeted by several of the mansions workers, before walking out the entrance doors and into the bright, blazing sunlight. Sure enough, standing in the courtyard tapping her foot impatiently, was his long time friend, Weiss. There were only three people in Atlas that he could call a friend; Weiss, Winter, and Klein.
Weiss turned around when she heard footsteps. She saw Kimimaro and placed her hands on her hips. "Well, it's about time you showed up. I've been waiting here for over an hour."
"I apologize, Ms. Schnee. Your father wanted to see me."
"Father? What did he want? Also, I've told you a hundred times, call me Weiss. We've known each other since we were kids."
"Of course, Weiss; your father tasked me with guarding you while in the city. He fears someone may try to target you to get to him."
Weiss scoffed and turned her back on the mansion. "Yeah, right. He only wants you with me to spy on me." She entered a waiting vehicle with Kimimaro following close behind. "So, I assume Father told you about how I was trying to leave this place to go to Beacon?"
Kimimaro nodded and asked, "If you don't mind my asking, Weiss, why would you want to go to Beacon?"
"Because I'm tired of being treated like a delicate little flower. I want to venture out and become a Huntress and receive recognition for my abilities instead of my status."
"I think you should do what makes you the happiest. Whether Beacon or Atlas, I know you'll become a great Huntress." A small blush formed on Weiss' face as she turned away from him. She looked out the window as the vehicle came to a stop, having arrived at their destination. The two exited the vehicle and began walking around town, going to various stores such as clothing, shoes, and some dust ones for her weapon. While Weiss was in one of these stores, Kimimaro, who was waiting outside, noticed a crying child with no parental figure anywhere to be seen. He walked up to the child and knelt in front of them. "Are you ok?"
"I..I lost m..my mommy," the child said between hiccups.
Weiss exited the store with a bag and noticed Kimimaro talking to the child. "Is everything ok? What's wrong?"
"The girl is lost and can't find her mother."
Weiss knelt beside the young girl and gave her a kind smile. "Don't worry. We'll help you find your mother." She held out her hand for the young girl to take, and as she did so, Weiss noticed the girl had a dog's tail. She was a Faunus. Weiss hesitated but took the young child's hand and began leading her around with Kimimaro following closely behind. They went to several places and asked several people around town but had no luck. Thankfully, though, the young girl had stopped crying and seemed to be having fun. A bright smile formed on her face when Kimimaro picked a flower from a nearby garden and placed it in her hair. The three stopped by an ice cream parlor to have a treat before continuing their search well into the evening with, unfortunately, little luck. "What should we do? We can't search all night." The young girl named Claire was off playing out of ear-shot.
"We may have to go to the Atlas Police so they can take over."
"You know the police don't care about Faunus. They'll throw her into an orphanage rather than help."
Claire's ears perked up, and she turned toward a dark alleyway. "Mommy?" Weiss and Kimimaro turned to her as she took off toward the alley.
"Claire, wait!" Weiss and Kimimaro chased after Claire, who had rounded a corner and out of their sight. The two rounded the corner and came to a stop upon seeing Claire standing in the center of the alley with nothing more than a single overhead light lighting up the dark alley. "Claire? Are you alright?" Weiss slowly crept toward the girl and reached out her hand.
"Weiss, it's a trap!" Kimimaro placed himself in front of Weiss and assumed a defensive stance.
"Well, aren't you the perspective one. I can see now why Jacques keeps you around." An older man, a Faunus, walked out of the shadows with several armed guards following with him. He placed a hand on the child's shoulder and said, "Nice work, Claire."
"Grant? What's going on?" She heard movement behind her and turned her head to see several more armed guards, but these had bone masks that covered their faces. She turned back to Grant with realization. "The White Fang?! Grant, how could you? You said the White Fang was nothing more than an organization of terrorists!"
"That was before your father threw me and so many others away! He called us trash, tools to be used, and thrown out! The White Fang gave us a chance to feed our families and stop the injustice that has plagued my kind!"
"Joining them isn't the answer!"
"And letting my family and people suffer is? You'll never understand, Weiss. You live in luxury while everyone else in Atlas scrambles for bits." He looked down at Claire before saying, "Do you know what happened to this child's parents?" He looked Weiss in the eyes and said, "They died in a dust mining accident. Did your father make any effort to help their orphaned child? No. Instead, he got angry at the amount of dust that was lost."
There's a moment of silence before Weiss broke it. "Claire, I'm sorry."
"It doesn't matter now. I have the task of turning you into the White Fang. There, they will ransom for your release."
"What?! Are you insane? The White Fang has a bounty out for me. Turning me over to them will mean my death."
"No, they've given me their word that no harm will come to you." Grant motioned for the White Fang members to take her away.
"You can't trust them, Grant!"
Grant's face fell with regret. "I gave fifteen years of my life to your father. I ran his dust mines with loyalty and never questioned him. The White Fang is all I have left." The White Fang surrounded Weiss and Kimimaro. Grant looked at Weiss with sad eyes and said, "I am sorry."
Weiss went for her weapon, but she had left it in the vehicle along with their other stuff. One White Fang member walked forward and reached a hand toward Weiss only to receive a foot across his face. The man's mask shattered as his head hit the ground where he lay unconscious. Kimimaro placed his foot back on the ground and glared at the others surrounding them. "Back off," he said with a cold tone.
"Y..you bastard!" The second White Fang member swung his sword at Kimimaro, aiming for his head.
Swift as lightning, Kimimaro grabbed his left shoulder and yanked out a sword made purely of bone! Their weapons clashed, but Kimimaro's was sharper, resulting in the man's sword shattering to pieces. The boy pivoted his footing and kicked the man in the head. Without skipping a beat, Kimimaro spun through the air and kicked a third White Fang member into a wall, knocking the two out in under a second. He turned around just as the fourth and fifth began firing their guns at him.
"No! Don't harm Weiss," Grant shouted.
Kimimaro grabbed his right shoulder and pulled out a second sword. He then proceeded to block and deflect the incoming bullets with ease, his arms moving in a blur. After a short moment, the two White Fang ran out of ammo, but before they were able to reload their guns, Kimimaro charged forward and sliced their weapons in half. He then kicked one of the men into the other and knocked the two into a wall, rendering them unconscious. The boy then turned his gaze on Grant and the other Faunuses, who were shaking with fear. When the eerie sounds of police sirens began to permeate the night air, the rest of the armed Faunuses turned to run away. However, to their shock, Kimimaro was now standing on the other side of them, blocking their way out.
"You're not going anywhere, Grant," Weiss said with a tinge of venom. "You are going to answer for your actions."
The Atlas Police arrived and took all the Faunus into custody, leaving Claire, who continued to remain silent, into the hands of Weiss and Kimimaro. Grant, before he entered the police vehicle, looked back at Weiss and said, "Congratulations, Weiss. You have single handily ruined these men's last chance to have a life, to feed their families. I guess the apple doesn't fall far from the Schnee tree."
"Do not try to pass the blame on to Weiss. These men followed you in hopes of a solution to their life. Whatever happens to them is on you."
Grant looked at Kimimaro and said, "That may be, but heed my word boy. Sooner or later, Jacques will have no use for you, and, like so many others, you too will get tossed out like trash. Get out while you can. Before its too late." With that, Grant got shoved into the waiting vehicle and taken away.
Weiss watched the vehicle pull away before looking at Kimimaro and saying, "Father would never do that, Kimimaro. You are too important."
"Hmm." Kimimaro turned toward Claire and asked, "What are we going to do with you?"
Claire looked up at him with an angry expression. She then pulled away and ran down the sidewalk before turning around and saying, "I can take care of myself! I don't need any help, especially from a Schnee!" With that, Claire disappeared into the crowd, leaving the two alone.
Later that night, when Weiss and Kimimaro arrived back home, Jacques demanded to see the boy, having heard what had happened from the police. Kimimaro entered his office and waited. "So, the rumors are true. The White Fang is after Weiss." He turned toward Kimimaro and continued, "I'm glad you went with her today, but this only complicates this issue."
"What would you have me do, Lord Schnee?"
Jacques sighed and said, "I...am permitting Weiss to go to Beacon Academy, and you will be going with her. You will be acting as her permanent bodyguard. Is that understood?"
"Of course, my Lord." Kimimaro turned to begin packing up when Jacques stopped him. "Hmm?"
"I heard you didn't kill any of the White Fang today. Why?"
"I did not wish for Weiss to witness that much bloodshed."
Jacques nodded his head before asking, "And the little girl. What was her name again?"
"Claire. She ran after the police took the White Fang into custody."
"From now on, Kimimaro, you will kill all White Fang and those associated with them. No matter the circumstances. Is that understood?"
Kimimaro hesitated before answering. "Yes, Lord Schnee."
"Good, now go tell Weiss the news and get packed up."
Kimimaro nodded his head and left the office. He made his way to Weiss' room and knocked gently. There was the sound of shuffling and something, or someone, falling over before the door finally opened. "What! Oh, Kimimaro." She suddenly felt self-conscious standing there in front of her friend with little more than a night-gown. "I...is there something you needed?"
"You're father wanted me to tell you that he is permitting you to go to Beacon Academy." Weiss was shocked to hear this news, and when she asked why her father changed his mind, the boy said, "Due to the events of today, your father believes it will safer at Beacon. We leave in the morning."
"Wait, you're coming too?"
"Yes. Your father wants me to watch over you. I will be there as your bodyguard."
"Well, tell my father that I don't need a bodyguard! I can take care of myself!" Weiss slammed the door in Kimimaro's face, angered that her father was using her friend to keep an eye on her. But, after a few seconds, she opened the door and said, "I'm sorry, you didn't deserve that. If it wasn't for you today, who knows what would have happened. So, thank you, Kimimaro."
"I told you long ago, Weiss. You are my closest friend, and I would do anything for you. So, do not think of me being there as a babysitter or even a bodyguard. Think of me merely as your weapon, an extension of yourself to use as you see fit." Weiss wanted to tell him that he was more than a simple tool, but before she could, Kimimaro turned and walked away, returning to his room to begin packing his things. So, she did as well, and the next morning, the two were on their way to Vale, ready to start their life at Beacon Academy.
