A/N: I hope you enjoy this! Prompt: "You have to let go"

Every weekend in the U.A. dorms two students would be chosen to get groceries for the week- this week it was Midoriya's and Shinsou's turn.

Midoriya had woken up and going through his normal routines before meeting up with Shinsou in the common room.

"Hey Shinsou! Did you get the money?"

Shinsou gave a single nod to his head, waving the money around in the air. The two of them were quick to get out the door, hoping to get the trip done quickly so they could be back at UA sooner.

They would have normally went to the store close by but Ashido had insisted that they go to the mall instead. Once she explained that a new dessert shop had opened up and she really wanted to get something from the place; she was quickly backed up. With the rest of the class begging along with Ashido, the two were quickly persuaded to bring back something from the shop.

Which is why they were walking around the mall trying to find everything on the list. At first everything was going well- they had split up the list and headed in different directions as soon as they entered the store promising to meet at the registers once they were done. Most of the stuff was easy to find, but a few of the needed stuff required them to search around at other stores to find. After about two hours of running back and forth the two had their arms stuffed.

"I don't know how we're gonna bring the dessert back with us." Shinsou's voice startled him out of his thoughts.

"Me neither... But I would rather not face the girls if we failed to bring their desserts back."

"Agreed."

And with that thought they headed towards the giant map, and located the shop. The shop was on the third floor, so they started their walk to the escalators. He tried to remember what everyone had wanted but sense they had never been before and the shop didn't yet have an online menu to look at, they only had ideas of what the other wanted. He knew Eri wanted something apple related but for pretty much everyone else he only had a list of stuff they didn't want and his past knowledge of flavors his classmates enjoyed. He hoped the place had bags to put the food in, otherwise they might have to call another student out to help them- something they should have thought about beforehand.

When they finally arrived at the shop they saw a decent sized line waiting to order. They walked over to the booths placing down the groceries before joining the line. Midoriya ignored the strangers talking around him in favor of staring at the menu upfront. He continued to stare at the menu, trying to figure out what to order everyone before they reached the front. The line had been moving at a decent pace, so they were almost at the counter when something went wrong.

Screams...

Screams of terror-

The conversation around him dimmed when more screams of terror came. He took a deep breath before getting in a battle stance. He had to figure out what was going on and stop it. He wouldn't let anyone else get hurt. As he pushed past the people to the shop doors, he noticed Shinsou in a battle stance as well.

"Shinsou watch them! I'll go see what's going on! Call for back up!"

Before the other boy could protest he let the familiar power of one for all crawl across his body, using it to dart out the door. Greeting him was a crowd of people pushing past each other. He rushed in the opposing direction as them hoping to find the supposed villain soon. Within a minute he had stopped seeing people all together.

This is not good.

The air had an eerie aura to it. Blood-curling chills raced up his body as he found the crime scene. There was a giant whole in the middle of the floor, with a closer look he noticed that whatever had created the whole was powerful enough to tear through a few floors of the mall.

Everything was painted a blood red color. Corpses lined the floors. Even though it hadn't been long since the first scream, a fowl smell filled the air causes him to gag.

He tried looking around for any survivors but found none. The villain had seemed to disappear as well.

Unsure of what to do, he stood there for a few more seconds. He stumbled backwards as he realized that he had left Shinsou alone and that the villain had disappeared.

Please let Shinsou and the civilians be alright. Please!

He ran faster than he had ever run before in order to get back.

Please be alright!

Along the way he spotted some new trails of blood and a few corpses but no sign that the villain was still there. He reached the front of the shop only to realize the citizens from inside and a few he had caught running early were spread out, all near an outer wall trying to back away further. On the other side of them was a tall, muscular looking character with a cloak to conceal his identity.

Fear entered his veins as he saw the villain raise his glowing hands towards them. Scanning the crowd he caught Shinsou standing on the complete opposite side of the crowd, holding what appeared to be a broken jaw. Right as the villain started letting go of the blast Midoriya jumped, using his own quirk to force as many civilians as he could away from it. The blast seemed to have missed killing anyone right of the bat, only causing injuries, some that would probably be fatal if not treated soon. The blast instead hit the outer wall causing the room to be exposed to the outside.

With the villains attention now on him, many of the people took it as an opportunity to flee. The only ones who remained were himself, the villain, Shinsou, the heavily injured, and the petrified. Shinsou seemed to be trying to help the remaining civilians leave.

As the villain raised his hands again he found himself jumping the villain. Unfortunately the blast was already in the middle of being set free when he landed the hit, causing the blast to hit another portion of the building. At first glance he started trying to restrain the now passed out villain; not worried about the damage the blast had done.

The feeling changed as he heard a giant creak right before the building started to crumble near the edge. Luckily it seemed that only that the loose areas near the edge were going to fall off but dread hit him when he spotted Shinsou standing near the crumbling floor, seeming to have just finished checking for any forgotten survivors.

He jumped forward as the floor beneath the other started crumbling. He ended up skiting across the floor, barely catching Shinsou by the wrist. Relief washed over him as he started pulling his classmate up, only to be crushed again as the ceiling above them started crumbling, causing a barrier to start being built. As the roof continued to crumble a large piece of rubble struck his arm- stopping his efforts of pulling Shinsou up. After what seemed like forever the crashing had stopped but they had ran into a new problem.

"Shinsou we need to hurry! I don't know how much longer the building will last! My hands stuck, I can't pull you up with this boulder on top. Trying pushing it off with your free hand, okay?"

He heard Shinsou let out a grunt, before feeling the rubble being pushed, except it wasn't moving off his arm. No... it was only rocking back and forth on top his arm. He tried to hold it in as best he could but a small scream slipped past his lips- the rubble instantly stopped moving.

"No! You can't stop! Come on, I can see an open path behind me! We just need to get this off!" He tried shoving the boulder but nothing seemed to budge it off his arm. No matter how hard he pushed the only thing he obtained was additional pain. The building around them started to creak again.

"M-...Dor-ya...yo-o-u a...ve t-o l-...e-t g-o-o!"

"No, I'm not letting you go!"

How dare Shinsou suggest that!

"Never! Never Shinsou! Never!"

The other boy didn't answer. Shinsou seemed to just be sitting there until he felt a sharp pain hit his hand, causing him to instantly open his hand.

"Shinsou! No! No!"

He felt tears run down his face as he screamed his throat raw. He pulled his arm free but didn't run out.

Shinsou... he was dead...
