Prolouge- Diary, Doodles, and Déjà vu.
The dark brown haired girl peeked at the tiny clock on her wooden desk, honey brown eyes heavy with lack of sleep. 1: 19 A.M. And still, sleep showed no signs of coming. She sighed lightly as it clicked over to 1:20, and went back to writing in her diary.
Its just hit a full half hour now. I should be asleep! I'm going to fail that algebra test tomorrow. But then, I always seem to fail them, so I guess there's no harm in staying up. Of course, Daddy isn't going to be happy about another bad grade. I really need to get some help. Maybe a tutor. Possibly a brain transplant.
She doodled mindlessly in the margin of the page. A boy with unruly hair popped up. Ulrich. Maybe he could help me… She drifted off in reverie of her German night in shining armor, but a thought abruptly stopped her. Nah, he got a worse grade than me on the last math test, and that's saying something. Maybe the super-brain, Jeremie. Another doodle made itself known, of a thin faced child with glasses. He's not even in the class, and yet I'm sure he could do my homework without ever looking at the book. Incredible. Wish I had that kind of brainpower. Her mind wandered as she drummed her clear-polished nails on the desk, pencil scratching across paper. Another boy, with impossibly spiky hair and a wide grin, and a dark haired scowling female joined their friends on the diary page.
Odd. Never was there a more fitting name. I wonder if his friends even know his real name. She smirked, amused at some faraway memory. He looks better in purple than I do. If I wasn't so amazed, I'd call it unfair. A hearty yawn escaped her mouth, and she made no attempt to conceal her rudeness in her silent room. Being the principal's daughter did have its perks. Not having to share a living space. Although… sometimes she wished she did have a roommate. Maybe then she…
She yanked herself out of her thoughts and drifted back to the last doodle on the page. Instantly, an annoyed huff rose in her and echoed about the room. Yumi. My rival for sweet Ulrich's affections. Oh, what am I saying? She's got him, I don't, and I'd give anything to figure out how! How she won him over with her coldness and that attitude when all I do is shower him with affection! She set her chair on two legs, sighed, then smiled a bit. Playing hard to get? Well, maybe Yumi is more advanced than I thought. Technique noted.
Two minutes later, scratches filled the page, random words, images, all running amok among the pink lines of her diary. XANA. Aelita. Lyoko. Elevator? Broken arm…Water. Monster. Another yawn filled the room, and finally she dropped her pen and locked her diary back, storing it in the false bottom of her vanity. Her mind was still on the four. The Quartet. She tied her hair under a Hello Kitty scarf and crawled into her bed.
I've been wanting to be a part of their group for ages… but it seems so hopeless. As she thought, a familiar wave of deja-vu washed over her. It seemed to happen a lot at this school.
With a well aimed shoe at the light switch, Sissi Delmas shut her eyes and finally slept for the night.
