Secret Crisis: Battleworld Chapter 16
"Umber Eyes, anything on our bio weapon?" Asked Chris.
"No readings yet Alpha."
"Alright. Let's sweep the area and draw these freaks' attention." said Chris.
Jill kicks down the door checking around.
"Clear!"
She takes point on alert checking every corner.
"Alright. Where's the basement level from here?" Asked Jill.
"We're going to have to take the stairs a few floors down." said Scott pulling up the map.
He leads the team to the emergency stairwell.
"Shit." Sara cursed.
"Lead the way Lang" said Zombie Hunter Spider-Man.
"We don't have time to lose." said Jill.
Scott leads the team down several flights of stairs as Sara struggled over time to keep up getting extremely winded.
"Of all the times...*panting*... I chose to get... out of shape *wheezing*" she said while huffing and puffing
"Don't worry. Almost there." assured Scott.
Sara adjusting her suit while wiping her sweat then said
"I hope so"
"Hang in there. The sooner we get the power back on, the sooner we leave this hell hole" said Jill.
"How the hell are you not winded?" Sara asked.
"I may be getting old, but that doesn't mean I can't still go." she explained.
Scott opens the door to the maintenance room.
"Uhhh, it's this way,"
"Whatever you're about to do, do it know" said Jill.
"Don't worry. Shouldn't take me but a couple of minutes.
*BANG!*
The others look around in concern.
"Think you can double time it?" Asked Jill
"Alpha! Massive reading coming from the tower!" said Lobo.
"That's gotta be the bio weapon. Plot a course back to Avengers tower. I'm going in!"
The sounds of the undead began to grow louder and closer.
"It shouldn't take me but a few minutes to restart the arc reactor that powers this place up. Keep us covered." said Scott.
Jill goes to count the rounds from her handgun.
"We got incoming"
Sara pulls out her sword as if turns a Blaze.
"Remind me again if you fought zombies before?" Asked Jill
"This makes my third. One of those times I died" Explained Sara
Jill looks at Sara confused.
"Long story"
Right outside, Chris enters Avengers Tower.
"Alpha to squad, I'm entering the tower."
"Tundra here. I'm detecting a massive number of bio weapons heading towards thr basement. They won't last long."
"Not on my watch. Keep me posted on their progress and wait for my call. As soon as I grab them, we're heading for the extraction point." ordered Chris.
He aims his assault rifle around as the horde of the undead begin to notice him.
"Alright one at a time, take a number!"
Chris opens fire, mowing down the zombies, to clear the area.
"Front lobby is clear. Tundra, where I'm heading?" Asked Chris.
"Down the hall, last door on the right. The emergency stairwell"
"Of course."
"Stay frosty captain, there's a lot of bioweapons between you and the targets."
"Man it sucks to be popular."
Chris walks his way to the hall with a path of the undead. He opens fire as the undead began to attempt to swarm him. He runs out of ammo and then used his rifle to hold back a zombie then reached for his pistol to finish it off. He reloads his assault rifle before continuing on.
"Any readings on the Scarlet Bio Weapon?" Asked Chris.
"She's getting close."
"Then I don't have time to waste"
Chris opens the door to the emergency stairwell and sprints his way down below taking down more zombies with his pistol and karambit knife for the close quarters environment.
As he continues to kill the zombies, he starts to hear the gunfire and screaming.
"Hang on Jill. I'm almost there"
Jill was going for nothing but headshots to thin the heard, reloading what seems like every five seconds.
Sara decapitated zombie after zombie with some being engulfed in flames burning others in the process.
Zombie Hunter Spider-Man webbed the herd to create some distance as Sara would light the web with flames as a trap.
"ANY TIME NOW SCOTT!" shouts Sara chopping a zombie head off.
"Almost..."
"There's too many of them!" shouts Zombie Hunter Spider-Man.
Then a flash grenade rolls in the floor blinding everyone as their hearing gets muffled.
As the others felt the Flashbang go off, they slowly heard the sound of automatic gunfire get louder and clearer. Their blurry vision starts to make out a man in tactical gear killing the remaining zombies.
Jill was the first person to see who it was.
"Chris?"
"Jill"
"You must be Chris Redfield" said Zombie Hunter Spider-Man.
"You told your new friends about me?" Asked Chris.
Jill smiled. "You know I had to"
The two shared a long overdue hug as it's been a very long time since either seen or spoke to one another.
"We don't have a lot of time. Is the power restored?" Asked Chris.
Scott turned to see the arc reactor begin to power up the tower.
"Everything should be up and running."
"Good. Alpha to Squad, I've secured the packages. Head to the extraction coordinates."
"Roger that Alpha, Tundra out"
"We gotta move. Where's the nearest elevator?" Asked Chris.
"Not far" said Scott.
"Good. Let's move"
Chris leads the team to the nearest elevator as a wall busted through the side revealing the zombie Scarlet Witch.
"Wanda?"
"MADE CONTACT WITH SCARLET BIO WEAPON!!" shouts Chris opening fire.
Zombie Wanda used her magic to stop the bullets.
"Oh shit."
Chris and then Jill opened fire onto the zombie scarlet Witch to no avail with the chaos magic acting as a shield.
Zombie Hunter Spider-Man used the opportunity to web her hands up giving Chris an opening to throw a flashbang.
"MOVE!!"
They used the opportunity to sprint past her and make a break for the elevator. Sara frantically mashed the button with the doors slowly opening up.
Wanda then breaks free and screams out to the horde after the team.
"Oh great. What now?" Asked Chris aimed and primed at Wanda.
"Sounds like she's ringing the dinner bell." said Sara.
The horse began to form behind her and make a sprint for the elevator.
"Roof. Now!"
Sara pressed the button to get straight to the roof while Chris and Jill held the horde off with the doors closing just in the nick of time.
