WRITER'S COMMENT: This is my first song parody in a long time, but I was pretty happy with it. It basically wrote itself, and didn't take too much time out from work I should've been doing. LOL In any case, this is yet another song for Evangelion, this time sung upbeat and cheerily, and to the tune of one of my favorite Christmas songs, The Waitresses' "Christmas Wrapping." And yes, I know I'm sane. Thanks.

EVANGELION: Always Look on the Bright Side of Life

By Miguel A. E. Betita © 2004
(with apologies to The Waitresses)

I came back yesterday to town
'Cause my dad, the Commander, had sent for me
But he couldn't even pick me up
So he sent this chick who looks slutty

And ridiculous, but still, I moved in,
With a penguin that drinks beer.
Found out my mom's a giant robot;
What the hell is happening here?

In Tokyo-3. They tell me to fight,
But really, what could I do then?
Got beat up the first day of school
Just 'cuz I'm the "tenkousen"

Who was simply, a bit clumsy.
Oh my god, this new job bites.
My dad's in love with albino jail bait
And the new redhead is pickin' a fight

With me, but I couldn't care less.
She thinks she knows everything!
Thinks she's so cool—wait, what's that sound?
Oh—just The Phone That Never Rings.

Then there's Angels, 18 in all,
Crashing like they own the place.
I gotta fight them, but I'm not too keen,
Should I go, or should I stay?

Can't decide. Boy, this job's rough!
The first ten seemed like a breeze
But they got smart and then fought back
Someone, get me outta here, please!

Always look on! Always look on!
Always look on the bright side of life.
Always look on! Always look on!
Always look on the bright side of life.
Always look on! Always look on!
Always look on the bright side of life.
Always look on! Always look on!
Always look on the bright side of life.

Flashback some 15 years,
It's not your typical fairy tale
Girl writes paper, boy meets girl
Then asks teacher to pay his bail

So then they build a robot
Or biomech, call it what you will
Mom disappears, then the Second Impact
Headlines read, "Billions are killed!"

Dad continues without mom
Though things are never the same.
He asks some lady to build his PC
It works but it's got parts of her brain

Back to now, another Angel attack
Is threatening the whole world!
We stave it off, but at what cost?
Nuked it with albino girl

To top it all off, the red-head's gone,
Ran way to possibly go crazy, too
At least we've got a replacement
And it's another boy, named Kaworu

Nagisa. I like that name.
Something inside says, I like him too!
He said he loved me, but it was a lie;
You can't blame me 'cause he wanted to die!

"I simply want to be alone," I said
"Need a break; this year's been crazy."
Thought it was over, but then soldiers came
Felt like a pawn in a huge game.

Suddenly Red-Head's eaten alive
And the world was filled with white light!
Everyone is dead, now, thanks to me
Who knew I was a symbol of Christ?

Always look on! Always look on!
Always look on the bright side of life.
Always look on! Always look on!
Always look on the bright side of life.

- end.
