Once everyone was inside, Kira spoke through the microphone. "Now, as you probably know, His Majesty, King Goobot has...fallen ill."

The assemblage gasped softly and whispered to one another when they heard the news.

"Yes, yes, this may sound harrowing to hear." Amelia said while staring down at me. "But I assure you that it'll soon get better, for as we speak, a successor to the throne has been chosen. And that successor is..."

Before she could say more, the sound of the assembly doors opening cut her off.

We all turned to see...

"Milady de Winter!" I gasped upon seeing her. "From 'The Three Musketeers!'"

Mr. Krabs looked at me, saying. "You've been reading his books* too many times, have you, son?"

Upon seeing the little falcon perched on Milady's shoulder, Darwin hid beind Eliza, telling her. "Don't let that devilish pigeon get near me."

"Darwin, relax." said Eliza. "He's not looking at you."

As she spoke, the falcon had its' eyes set on me and the Imaginaries.

"Uh, Sulley? Doesn't that bird look familiar?" whispered Mike.

"A little bit on the small side." Sulley whispered back. "But, yeah. He really does."

"A little bird was saying in my ear that His Egg-cellency is passing the crown to someone else." Milady said while giving her falcon a scratch.

"Yes, he is." said Amelia. "Which leads us to announce his successor."

"And I'm afraid, Miss de Winter," added Mr. Arrow. "You'll be less obliged to hear that King Goobot's successor is none other than..."

"Nathan Rosenberg!" Kira proclaimed.

Everyone gasped while Milady said with disbelief. "What?"

As the soft whispering turned into muttering, SpongeBob hurried to me, saying. "He chose you to be the next King?"

"And you never told us?!" added Patrick.

I couldn't answer. Instead, I turned to Mr. Beckwith, who walked up to the front of the room, saying. "Excuse me? Excuse me!"

The muttering turned to silence as they listened to him say. "Look, I may be as flustered as you are about this, but as far as I'm concerned, I'm afraid that this could be an enormous responsibility for Nathan, especially when this is his last year at Foster City School, along with those attending 5th Grade."

My eyes starten to widen when he said the words...

"Last year?"

"Well, I do believe we can put this whole debacle to rest." said Milady. "And since he will not be able to..."

"Halt your words, Miss de Winter." interrupted Mr. Arrow. "We may still have a king, but who knows how long he'll last."

"Which is why young Nathan is our best bet to take the position." added Amelia.

"And what makes him worthy of being the next king?" asked Milady.

"Because he saved his life from the Alpha Bullies, as well as ours." said Kira.

Hardly noticing everyone nodding in agreement, Milady said. "Regardless, this boy is not fit to rule over anything!"

"He'll learn, all right, whether he's ready or not." Amelia said, walking down to Milady. "Now, remove yourself from this room or I'll be forced to have Mr. Arrow make you leave."

Milady stared coldly at her, then turned to me and my friends.

"We'll see who rules this school once I'm through with all of you!" she warned us while leaving the room, slamming the doors on her way out.

Those who watched Milady go turned back to the stage, where Amelia said. "Back to class, everyone This assembly has been adjourned."

Author's Note:

*The books Mr. Krabs was referring to were three of which that came Mr. Beckwith's book collection, consisting of the junior novelizations of "The Wizard of Oz," Disney's "The Prince and the Pauper," starring Mickey Mouse, and "Great Illustrated Classics: The Three Musketeers," which I've read numerous times during the Year of the 5th Grade.
