Author's Headnote: Did you miss me? Well, compared to my other fanfics, this one is nowhere as popular. Likely because I'm not the first Male RWBY fic writer. Though, I'm not the first RWBY Vampire fic writer either. But anyways... time for the new chapter... finally.
Also, about the one chapter being one day? Turns out I'm gonna ditch that.

End of Main Character status report
Beacon Academy, June 7, Monday, Early Morning, RWBN Dormitory
Rueben had woken up... given it's around June. The school has issued summer uniforms given that summer is approaching and with it... the intense heat of the next four months. It was the uniform handed out in May, except it didn't have a jacket. Which was basically... just it. Short-sleeved button shirt, pants, shoes... It's mostly the same save for the torso. The girls' uniforms are similar in that regard.
Rueben had put on his uniform and woke up the girls. Soon after, he left the dorm to let them change. The girls do value their privacy, after all. But this should be enough for them to get through the day. Rueben already did everything he needed to, so... he just went out to get some breakfast.
Beacon Academy, June 7, Monday, Early Morning, Dormitory Lounge
Back at the lounge, well... the dining hall part. He got a simple breakfast and began to eat. He saw Nora, too. As he was eating his breakfast, Nora sat down across from him and began to start a conversation. Knowing Nora, it means he's going to be in for a rather interesting conversation.
"So... Early squad, right?" Nora asked.
"Huh?" Rueben said, confused.
"Oh, we wake up early, get everything done first, y'know, early squad!"
"That's... not a thing."
"Oh, you just sound like Ren when you say that!"
"Pretty sure I've already spoken more words than him on average."
"Alright, fair. He doesn't talk much."
"Besides, I always get up early so the girls have enough time to change and have their privacy. They don't like the idea of a guy being near them when they change."
"Oh, Phoenix is like that, she's very short tempered. She doesn't even like other girls seeing her change... or when putting on her body makeup. And she applies it to her entire body."
"That sounds very expensive."
"Not sure where she gets the stuff though, or why she has a lot of it."
"Not sure how Jaune puts up with her."
"Though, Phoenix is the main reason that CRDL doesn't bother Jaune. Because they are afraid of her."
"I don't even know why Phoenix is so... feared."
"Eh, I don't know, I know much about her as you do."
"Have you tried talking to her?"
"I did. But she told to me to get away from her or I'll be covered in my own blood."
"I don't think anyone with that short of a temper should be here..."
"Perhaps, but at least she's on our team."
"Just make sure you don't get on her bad side." Rueben said.
The two of them went to eat their breakfast, and then proceeded to head to class early. Being that Rueben had nothing else to do... and not sure about Nora, though. Though, Nora is a bit... eccentric to say at the very least. Wonder how Ren puts up with him.
Beacon Academy, June 7, Monday, Noon, Cafeteria
It is now lunchtime. Though, Rueben usually borders the essentials which surprises everyone around him. He did not grow up in a place where food was abundant... well, food that doesn't have a non-zero chance of causing death. Technically, all food can be given through choking. But they didn't have to deal with potentially poisonous food.
So... They were all eating. He was eating with his team and JNPR. They eventually came around as a friend group, despite Weiss' competitive protest and that 'all teams are rivals, not friends.' mindset. But there's no need to compete over defending oneself against the grimm. Nobody's gonna compete for points over who killed the most grimm.
He's been sort of getting along with his team. Though, Pyrrha's a bit more friendly than the others. Whilst Blake and Rueben spend more time due to their training sessions. And Weiss with shopping sessions. He doesn't know them enough to call them friends, though. But they do get along.
Grimm are typically dangerous and vile beasts, which is common knowledge. But now with access to dust? They're even more dangerous. Apparently, this trend had started around at least ten years ago, to Rueben's knowledge. Though, he doesn't know why. But it shows that mankind and the grimm are in a forever conflict and arms race. One to ensure the destruction to the other.
Rueben had heard some grunting pushing. He had looked up. He can see Team CRDL... which acts very malevolent for wannabe huntsmen. Cardin Winchester, Russel Thresh, Dove Bronzewig, and Skye Lark. They were all harassing a red-head student with dark skin. From the looks of it, he was blind. This irritated Rueben.
"Hey, guys. Look." Rueben said.
Everyone had looked at where Rueben is. The blind kid is being pushed around, not even knowing who is responsible for his torture, along with holding something that is stolen from him. Everyone had a disgusted look on their face, like sniffing a carton of expired milk. The smell was absolutely awful and it was turning into a chunky paste, so one would normally dump it down the sink, but the chunky bits were still there. Ya, it was that face of disgust is what's on their face.
"Picking on the disabled? What's wrong with them!?" Blake said, in disgust.
"That's not very nice, why would anyone do that?" Pyrrha asked.
"They likely feel inferior to their superiors, so they stamp down on anyone who's weak to make themselves feel better." Weiss retorted.
Blake looked at Weiss.
"What?" Weiss said, confused.
"Nothing." Blake retorted.
"How about we break their legs? See how they like it?" Nora asked.
"Nora. We're not crippling people over bullying." Ren retorted.
"Ren's right, that's a bit excessive." Jaune stated.
"Hey, has anyone seen Phoenix?" Rueben asked.
Everyone looked for Phoenix. She was not where she was sitting. Before everyone had seen the indecent bullying, she was sitting between Jaune and Nora. But now... She's...
She's approaching the bullies, and then proceeding to kick Cardin in the groin, and then in the gut. She then spat in his face and then kicked him in the groin again, which is much more than she did with Jaune. Phoenix had then given an evil glare to the other three, before they ran away. Phoenix had then decided to sit back down at the lunch table where she would continue eating.
Rueben, on the other hand. Had gotten up and picked up the strange device on the floor. From what it looks like, it's an occular device. He had given it to the blind kid. He put on the device and nodded.
"Were you the one who scared away the bullies?" the blind kid asked.
"No, that was someone else." Rueben stated.
"Well... tell them I said thanks. Mostly those types of people pick on faunas. Guess they decided to expand to people like me."
"So, you are blind?"
"Yes, I'm blind. I can't see with my eyes. This device lets me use my aura to see. And before you ask, no I can't see colors. Not that I'd know what they'd look like anyway. And no, I can't read, either... this device only lets me 'see' shapes."
"I guess those are frequently asked."
"Yes, they are. Now, if you would excuse me, my teammates are expecting me." the blind kid said, leaving.
Rueben watched as the blind kid had left around. Well, calling him a kid is an exaggeration, he looks older than his teammates. But 'blind guy' or 'blind boy' doesn't run off the tongue as much. Should have asked for his name, though.
Well, no matter. Rueben had sat down and continued to eat his food. The rest of the day would go on like normal.
Beacon Academy, June 7, Monday, Nighttime, JNPR Dorm
Rueben, after spending some time training and getting his skills out of the way, decided it would be best to head to bed. However, the girls were planning a slumber party. Which includes the two girls of JNPR and a rabbit faunas as well. Which means Rueben is to sleep in the JNPR dorm.
The JNPR dorm has relatively the same layout as the RWBN dorm, except the layout is inverted, especially from being across the hall. Though, the furniture is way different, and the couch looks nicer. Given the cushions are all the same color, and it looks relatively new. They even have a Holovision set-up. The bookshelves are chalked full, though only two cabinets have books in them, the rest of the shelves have random assortments of items. Picture frames, toys, and other junk.
The kicthen was mostly samish. Kitchen with a dining room look. The bathrooms were the same, too. The bedroom was quite a mess. Especially on Phoenix's side. There was a chair with a bunch of mirrors, a box of contact lenses, and a series of flattened cardboard, covered in said paint. In addition to the large number of body paint cannisters.
And from what he was told. Yes, Phoenix sprays her whole body. Though, he thought that was an exaggeration. From the looks of it. It wasn't an exaggeration.
Rueben was on the couch, getting ready to sleep, with a spare uniform to change into for the following morning. Mostly because he doesn't want to touch Phoenix's mini-body paint studio. Speaking of... where is phoenix? The slumber party in the RWBN dorm, maybe. But is she the kind of girl who'd partake in something like that?
However, those questions would have to wait, as Jaune would approach him.
"Hey... is everything alright?" Jaune asked.
"I'm fine, though I could have gotten a head's up about this." Rueben said, sounding a little irritated.
"I understand that. The girls having their little thing together."
"No. We're not having a sleepover. Besides, literally all of our guy friends are in this dorm right now."
"Technically we are having a sleepover because-"
"Shush, don't want to hear it."
"Alright fine."
"Now, I need to get some sleep. I don't have time to talk about your personal problems."
Rueben had gotten one of the couch pillows and headed to sleep. Though, it took a while because the couch was not as comfortable as the bed, and he got too used to sleeping in a bed. In which he scolds himself for, he was sleeping on a tent floor earlier in his life. And now... he spoiled himself.
Though, he may have been coming up as a bit rude on Jaune. Mostly because he was tired and was kicked out of a dorm for something he wasn't told about.
Beacon Academy, June 8, Tuesday, Early Morning, JNPR Dorm
Rueben had gotten up and headed to the guest bathroom to change. It took around five minutes. He had then, carrying his old clothes, headed off to the laundro-mat to put them in. However, as he was walking out, he saw Nora in a T-shirt and sweatpants walking in the dorm.
"Hey Rueben, what were you doing here?" Nora asked.
"The girls kicked me out of the dorm for your slumber party, so I crashed here." Rueben stated.
"Oh, sorry for that? Did you sleep in one of the beds?"
"No, I slept on the couch."
"Oh, again. Sorry. Now excuse me I gotta go wake up Renny and Jaune."
"Is Phoenix still asleep?"
"Nope. I'm too afraid to wake her up."
Rueben paused for a bit.
"So... you saw Jaune's collection of Pumpkin Pete figurines?"
"That's what those rabbits are called?"
"Yep."
"Anyways-"
"WAIT! I wanna know, what did you guys do together?"
"Sleep."
"That's it?"
"Ya. Not much of a night-person."
"Oh."
"Anyways, I'm not gonna wake up my team or the girls. They kicked me out of the dorm, seems fair that I let them be late for class."
"Fair. Anyways, we have history class today."
Rueben sighed. Yep. History class. It was led by the professor Bartholomew Oobleck. He's very strict with his lectures. Anything short of perfection. Doodling, napping, being late, even answering a question incorrectly would be sentenced with detention. He also deducts points for being late or absent. The bookmark definition of a strict teacher, according to Weiss. He pays attention to class, last he checked. The current class is about the great war. The war has had an impact to this very day. The separation of head of state and government, the official establishment of the huntsmen academies, and a co-operative peace-term to help the four realms united in peace and co-operation against the ongoing conflict of grimm. The human and faunas population had dropped by 60% in that war, according to him. Which is a rather big exaggeration.
Anyways, he prepares for class. After he puts his clothes in the laundro-mat, of course.
Beacon Academy, June 8, Tuesday, Morning, History Class (In Session)
The layout of the history classroom is similar to the grimm studies one. Though, one would replace the small arena with actual desk space, then that would be the room. Most of the main classes that don't direct involve combat are samish. History, Literature, Mathematics, and Forensic classes have the same layout, two of them use the same classroom.
They are talking about the battle at Fort castle. Which was adjacent to Mt. Hill. It was also across from the stream river, where the grass fields were on one end, and the aforementioned Mt. Hill was on the other. The attacking side was led by General Commander (Yes, that was his last name), whilst the defending side was a faunas resistance faction. This was taking place in eastern Vale, by the way. The faunas resistance faction was led by a leader named Guerilla (Yes, that was his first name). Something about this just doesn't make a lot of sense. Most of these seem like stock names they just ran out of ideas to name them for... though, Rueben himself was from a village named Terrace, which was known to have plenty of farms. Not surprising, since his own mother was a farmer.
The teacher is very hyper and has terrible sense of pacing. he tends to move the subject quite too fast, and then when he's done, he dismisses the class, leaving those who have detention to stay for the rest of the period.
Rueben, Jaune, Ren, Nora, and Blake showed up on time. The girls who attended the slumber party all got detention for being late, including Weiss.
"Now the biggest mistake that General Commander did at the Battle of Fort Castle was that he attacked at night. And do you know why? Because the Faunas had an advantage! Mr. Arc! Why were the faunas at an advantage at the battle?" Professor Oobleck stated.
"Uhh... they had really good hearing, so they knew they were coming a couple miles away?" Jaune guessed.
"Close, but incorrect. You now receive Detention, Mr. Arc! Mr. Winchester, state the correct answer, or receive detention!"
"Well, it should be easier to teach an animal than a person." Cardin said, with bigotry. Picking on the disabled and faunas? That's just wrong.
"You will receive two days' worth of detention for that remark alone, and another one for getting the answer wrong. What about you, Ms. Belladonna?" Professor Oobleck stated.
"Night vision. Faunas have innate night-vision so they can see clearly in the dark as well as with light." Blake stated.
"That is correct: Ms. Belladonna. General Commander didn't know this, and his forces were routed the second they attempted to strike the faunas forces in the sleep. And he was forced to retreat, being the only non-casualty among his forces. One should study history, unless they wish to repeat it. And one should also study their enemy, unless they wish to end up being like General Commander. Class Dismissed. Those who have been sentenced to Detention are required to stay until the end of the period, and then report for lunch. Do not bring food."
Rueben heard that as his cue to get up and leave the class. The students that arrived on time and didn't get a wrong answer also had gotten up. Rueben had left the class room, and given the time to spare, he decided to spend some time with Blake. May as well find out what happened last night.
Beacon Academy, June 8, Tuesday, Morning, School Corridor
Rueben and Blake were walking down the corridor. Though, they are around somewhere no one is near, and they are talking quietly so no one else can hear them.
"So... what exactly was going on you had to kick me out last night?" Rueben asked.
"It was a girl's party, it was Pyrrha's idea. She wanted some time with the girls. They spent the first 10 minutes talking about boys, the next 10 doing eachother's hair, played some games, and then passed out from exhaustion."
"So... was Phoenix with you all?"
"She managed to smuggle in some liquor. And before you ask, it went nothing like what you'd think it went."
"Uhhh... what?"
"Oh, never mind. So ya... she drank most of it, got drunk, punched a hole in the wall. And then collapsed on the ground. I went to bed early, but I could still hear what was going on."
"How does Jaune put up with that?"
"I don't know. And I feel sorry for him. Phoenix and Nora must be a chore to put up with."
"And I just found out that half of JNPR's bedroom is reserved for her body-painting."
"I thought she only painted the stuff that showed."
"Nope, entire body."
"How much paint was there?"
"Enough to last her a whole four years."
"Wow. That is a lot of paint."
"She's very committed to having people not see her real skin color. Not sure why."
"Maybe it's like hair dye?"
"Yes, but why go through all the effort and get so much paint? Hair dye lasts for quite longer than body paint... I think."
"I'm not an expert in that category, either."
Rueben and Blake waited until Weiss and Pyrrha came back from detention to head to the next class. The class routine had gone on as usual. Save for Weiss and Pyrrha serving Oobleck's lunch detention. Though, that's mostly their fault. Though, he will get yelled at for not waking them up. But he'll say that he would have woken them up if they hadn't kicked him out.
He sighed and prepared for the inevitable.
Beacon Academy, June 8, Tuesday, Evening, Dorm Roof
Despite being not a flat building, there is a part of the roof that is flat and connected to the rest of the building. It's a green deck with a porch and everything. Rueben came here with for a breath of fresh air. Though, he's surprised to see Jaune here, also doing the same thing.
He approached Jaune.
"No, I'm not gonna jump." Jaune retorted.
"I didn't think that." Rueben said.
"Oh... so why are you here?"
"To get a breath of fresh air. The girls were blaming me for their detention session, so I gotten earful, then they kicked me out of the dorm again."
"Huh..."
"Don't worry, I think they'll get over it. It's the summer season."
"Oh ya, Summer is coming around..."
"Cheer up, things can only get better. I mean you got accepted to Beacon, your combat skills can only improve. I only had basic skills, and my team tends to help me learn to fight. Pretty sure there's a reason you got accepted."
"Not for an honest reason..."
"What do you mean?"
"Well... don't tell my team this... but... I faked my way here."
"That explains a lot."
"Huh?"
"Your combat skills were worse than mine, and you countered it by dirty fighting."
"Well, at least you're honest."
"Besides, you were given a warning to leave, but you committed. I don't think anyone would care if you faked your transcripts."
"Really?"
"Ya, so just get better at fighting, and don't bother me when I sleep. Also, you look ridiculous in your pajamas."
"Thanks for that retort."
"Eh, honesty is a sign of friendship."
"Ya, I guess so."
"So how about we head back and get some sleep? Hopefully the girls would let me sleep in my dorm again sooner or later."
The two of them head back to JNPR's dorm to rest for the night. Another night on the couch. To be fair, it is a better couch than the one in his dorm. So he has that going for him.
Beacon Academy, June 9, Wednesday, Crack of Dawn, JNPR Dorm
"WAKEY WAKEY!" Nora's voice screamed.
Rueben jumped out of couch scared for his life and crashed on the floor. He got up to see... Nora.
"Nora, what is wrong with you?" Rueben asked.
"I need to make sure my early squad mate is up."
"I told you, that's not a thing."
"I want it to be a thing..."
Rueben sighed.
"Yay!" Nora said, with cheer in her voice.
"Don't get your hopes up. I still need to change into my uniform and wake up my team, if I must wake up this early, so do they."
"Oh, maybe that's why you're leader."
"No, I'm just cranky that I woke up around... 3 AM?"
"Yep. I always wake up at 3 AM."
"When do you go to sleep?"
"Usually 8 PM, but sometimes 10 PM."
"Huh..."
"I like to be up early."
Rueben sighed and proceeded to head back to his dorm to get a change of clothes, and to wake up his team. Maybe now they won't complain about being late to class now. He also must assert himself to make sure he doesn't have to be kicked out of the dorm again. Unless he risks being woken up by Nora at 3 AM again. Especially since when anyone's sleep is being interrupted, they end up being in a bad mood all morning, and then calm down sometime in the afternoon. He also has accidentally conceded into giving in to Nora's 'Early squad' thing. So, he has to hang out with her early in the morning.
There's also a field trip on Friday to go to Forever Fall. Which is apparently a forest filled with trees that grow red leaves, that simulate the season of autumn. Not sure why a forest would want to be in a perpetual autumn. But Rueben shrugged on that idea, nature's weird like that.
Author's Footnote: It's been a while, I've been updating my main story all October, but don't worry, I'll help get to you guys now, too. Just let me know what you think, that's all. See you next chapter.
