DISCLAIMER: I do not own Harry Potter
For 3 days, John had looked through the Journal of Rudas. He still couldn't understand the code, he could only continue to re-read the page about the Chest of Dreams, the page was filled with theories about where it could be, but most were crossed out. John couldn't help but wonder who Rudas was, but he thought he would know someone he could ask. John went over to the mirror in the Gryffindor Common Room and cast Communico to talk to Ken.
"Hey John, been a few days, what can I do for you?"
"Hey Uncle Ken, I was wondering, do you know anything about someone called Rudas?"
Ken went wide-eyed at the sound of the name.
"Where did you here that name?"
"Um, I heard it around."
"Well, if that name is being discussed around school, you need to tell the teachers, immediately."
"Why? Who is he?"
"A very dangerous dark wizard, that is all you need to know."
"But…"
"But nothing, I gotta go, I'll talk to you later."
A wave of his wand and Ken broke off the communication. John was confused but he still had questions. If he couldn't get answers about Rudas, maybe he could find answers about the Chest of Dreams, there was one person he knew he could talk to, or rather, one ghost. John grabbed his robes when he saw Isaac.
"Hey John, you going somewhere?"
"Yeah, I need to talk to Professor Binns about something." said John
"Mind if I join you?"
"Sure."
John and Isaac left the common room, while they walked through the halls, they saw Filch on a ladder, doing some dusting. Filch got shocked when Peeves burst out from the wall and screamed in his face. Filch fell from the ladder.
"Oh no, Arresto Momentum!" said John
Filch slowed down as he fell and gently landed safely on the ground.
"Mr. Filch, are you okay?"
"I'm…I'm okay, uh, th-thanks."
Filch picked up Mrs. Norris and only walked off. John and Isaac continued to the History of Magic classroom, Professor Binns was marking some tests.
"Hello Professor Binns." said John
"Ah, John, Isaac, lovely to see you, what can I do for you?"
"Um, I had a question for you, have you ever heard about the Chest of Dreams?"
"I have, but you don't need to concern yourself with that."
"Why not?"
"The Chest of Dreams is nothing more than a legend, a myth."
"But surely all legends must come from some truth."
"There has never been any proof of it's existence."
"Well, what's the story about it?"
"I am telling you, it is not important, now, if you don't mind, I have…work…to…zzzzzz."
Professor Binns fell asleep at his desk and John and Isaac left. Later, John and Isaac were joined by Octavia in the Great Hall.
"I found it, the Chest of Dreams…"
Octavia slammed a book onto the table.
"It says here that the Chest was rumoured to have been created by a group of powerful wizards, inside is said to be the power to grant a single wish to whoever finds it."
"But I'm guessing that it's never been found." said Isaac
"Correct, over the years, many witches and wizards have tried to look for it, but no one has succeeded, apparently, there is a saying that the way can be found when light is shown to the creature that can never more be quoted." said Octavia
"What does that mean?" asked Isaac
"No idea, and from the looks of it in this book, Rudas didn't know either." said John, looking through Rudas' journal.
Later on, John sat in his bed with the journal in his hand, he felt something on his lap and saw his kitten, Hecate, cuddling up to him. John smiled and stroked her. After a few minutes, she jumped onto his nightstand, knocking something onto the floor. John picked up the box that had been knocked onto the floor, he hadn't tried to open it yet. He tried to force it open, but it didn't work. He got an idea and set it on the floor before taking out his wand.
"Cistem Aperio!"
John regretted it when the light bounced off the box and right back at him, he was knocked back against the wall and fell to the ground.
"Ow!"
A few days later, John had some free time after Defense Against the Dark Arts, Professor Cassowary was a very skilled teacher, due to her previous work as an Auror, she was also well travelled and knew how to deal with dark creatures, such as the topic of today's class, Vampires. After class, John sat at the fountain in the courtyard, looking at the box, he was approached by Isaac and Octavia.
"We've been looking for you. What are you doing here?" said Isaac
"Oh, it's just this box, my uncle got it from the fire from when I was a baby, I'm wondering how to open it, my uncle has tried for years."
"That should be easy…"
Octavia takes out her wand.
"Octavia, NO!"
"Alohomora."
The box didn't open, but Octavia felt a small pain as her arm started twisting the wrong way until she dropped her wand.
"OW!"
"So that's why he hasn't opened it."
