SO! Long time no see. As you know if you've been reading, I'd started this during quarantine, and then quarantine was over and I just fell off the face of the Fanfic planet.

I absolutely HATE when I get into a story and the author simply never finishes it, so I wasn't bouta do y'all like that. I appreciate an ending even if it does come 5 years after the last update, but maybe that's just me. Lol

So here it is, Chapters 23, 24, and 25 all at once (barring any upload issues). I think you've waited long enough, don't you?

Note: I've never been to Disneyland, just Disneyworld and that was 10+ years ago, so apologies if the rides I mention aren't near one another (I know they're not, lol) and you can't realistically get from one to the other in the timeframes implied. Taking some creative liberties here. Lol

FYI; I literally haven't watched Grey's since 16x01 so I'm waayy behind but I know the highlights (i.e. MerDer dream reunion, Maggie married Winston, Jesse left the show) not that any of those things matter in this Post 16x01 universe.

Okay, Enough Of My Rambling. Happy Reading!

It'd been 2 weeks since they decided to take a family vacation, and they were finally on their way. They'd waited so that both Maggie and Harriet would be cast-free, and Maggie's ankle would be healed. No sense in going on vacation with a 5 year old when you can't do all the things with her. While Maggie, Jackson, and Harriet were sitting on the Avery jet waiting to take off, Maggie thought back to how they'd gotten here and chuckled.

Maggie, Jackson and Harriet were at the table having dinner, discussing the possibility of a family vacation.

"Okay Hattie bear, where should we go?" Maggie asks

"The Bahamas" Harriet says without skipping a beat.

"The Bahamas?" Maggie questions confused.

"Yupp."

Jackson chuckles and pulls Harriet into his lap, "Okay, the Bahamas. But is there any particular reason why you chose there?"

"Well Maggie's been sad a lot, and I remember she said she loves it in the Bahamas. I think it'll make her not sad anymore." Harriet replies matter-of-factly.

At that Maggie's heart fills with equal parts joy and sorrow. This little girl loves her so much that given the choice, she'd chosen a place that she thought Maggie would love instead of choosing a place she'd love.

Maggie cup Harriet's face with both hands and says "Aw, Hattie. That means everything to me the fact that you want to make me happy, but you know what would make me the happiest?"

"What? Not the Bahamas?" Harriet questions.

"Nope."

"Then what?"

"I want you to pick where YOU really wanna go, and watch you have fun and enjoy it. That'll make me the happiest."

"Are you sure?"

"Absolutely."

"Okay, then I guess we can go to Disneyland, but only on one condition" Harriet deadpans.

Maggie raises a brow and Jackson chuckles and asks "Condition? But—okay, I'll bite, what's your condition Harriet?"

"Weeeelll, I think-"

Maggie is brought out of her thoughts by the sound of Harriet's squeal, followed by her nieces and nephew's shouts as they board the jet.

Yupp. Harriet's condition was that her cousins get to tag along. She didn't want them to feel left out if they went without them. And apparently Jackson and Maggie just weren't "fun enough for Disney" Harriet's words, clearly not theirs.

Of course there was no way Maggie and Jackson were taking 4 kids to Disneyland alone without losing their minds and possibly a child, so Meredith and Amelia tagged along as well.

"You chose well sister" Amelia says as she steps on the jet whistling.

"Oh hush" Maggie chuckles.

As Meredith and Amelia take the seats facing Maggie and Jackson, Meredith says "even though I know, I always forget just how rich you are Avery."

"So! How you doing with having to leave Greyson behind Amelia?" Maggie asks to change the subject.

Amelia sighs, "Ughh, it's the worst. I keep telling myself it's just one week, but it still sucks."

"Well, we did say you didn't have to come. The 3 of us can handle 4 kids." Meredith says.

Amelia looks at her incredulously "And let you guys have all the fun? Absolutely not!"

"Everyone take your seats, and fasten your seatbelts, we're ready for takeoff" comes over the speaker and everyone takes their seats, buckles up, and talks animatedly with one another about all the things they're excited to do.

Jackson leans against a gate, his legs crossed at the ankles, and a set of Mickey Mouse ears on his head as he watches his 2 favorite girls bite into opposite sides of a turkey leg the size of Maggie's head, hair included, as Meredith snaps a picture.

Once the picture is taken, Harriet runs back to a table where Zola, Bailey, and Ellis sit eating a light snack before they get back to the rides. They'd chosen to stay at Disney's Grand Californian hotel, and it had been the best decision. It made each day of fun and adventure a little bit easier considering they were already on park grounds.

This is their last day, before they head home and this trip had been amazing for everyone. It was the perfect reset button on a particularly dark period for everyone involved. He hadn't seen Harriet or Maggie laugh and smile this much in so long. If it was possible he'd keep them here in their perfect Disneyland bubble and never leave. Never have to go home to deal with life—

"JACKSON"

His thoughts are interrupted by a shout from Maggie who is now standing in front of him waving a hand in front of his face.

He wraps his arms around her waist as he dips and kisses her once on the lips and then all over her face as she giggles and holds her Mickey ears in place.

"Jaackson. You're gonna ruin my ears." She laughs, "you know I had to pin this hat to my hair. And you better not make my turkey leg fall." she says as he stands her upright and adjusts her ears for her.

"Sorry, I forgot." He laughs.

"Yeah, yeah. What had you so distracted?"

"I was just thinking" he says as he looks toward the table where everyone was just a minute ago, "Hey, where'd everyone go?"

"They left while you were in dreamland instead of Disneyland" Maggie laughs at her own corny joke, "They're gonna go get on the Dumbo ride again. I need to finish this turkey leg, so I told them to go without us."

"Maggie, you're gonna get sick with the way you've been eating those turkey legs"

"Am not!"

"You've eaten 2 a day since we've been here. Where does it even go?" he asks with wide eyes.

Maggie just shrugs and takes another bite of her turkey leg. "So, bite for your thoughts?" she asks as she holds her turkey leg out to him.

Jackson turns his head away, "I'll tell you my thoughts but you can keep the turkey leg," He starts as he grabs her hand and begins walking in the direction of the Dumbo ride. "I was just thinking about how happy you and Harriet have been this past week. I'm a little sad it's ending"

She can tell by the tone of his voice he's talking about more than the trip, "Yeah. Me too. But Jackson, the trip is ending, not our happiness. Everyone's spirits took a huge blow with the baby, and April and life but we're okay. We have each other, and the rest of our big crazy family to propel us through. There's a lifetime worth of happiness ahead of us post Disneyland."

Jackson smiles down at Maggie wondering how he got so lucky, but instead of deepening the moment he decided they should live in the moment and enjoy it, "So," he smirks "are you thinking what I'm thinking?"

"Only if what you're thinking is we ditch them and hit Space Mountain again."

"I knew there was a reason I loved you" he says as he drags her off in the direction of their favorite ride.

Later that evening, everyone got dressed up and headed to dinner. Their dinner location was a surprise for the kids tonight. They'd been letting the kids choose which Disney restaurants they'd wanted to go to the whole trip. They'd done so many including Flo's V8 Cafe, Café Orleans, Bengal Barbeque, and even Plaza Inn. But the kids were going to flip when they saw where they were eating tonight.

Much to Maggie and Meredith's displeasure, Jackson had spent an obscene amount of money to make tonight special for the kids. Amelia of course was all for it.

"you guys are acting like it'd even make a dent in his account." She'd said when they'd fought against it.

Because they had been in a deadlock they'd called levelheaded Richard to be the tiebreaker. Maggie nor Meredith had expected him to vote against them, but they should've considering he was like a grandfather to all the kids. Everyone knows the Grandkids trump the kids every time. And because they lost, they would be having dinner in Cinderella's Castle and they'd have the place all to themselves. They'd have one on one time with all the Disney Princesses as well as Mickey and his crew.

"OH MY GOSH!" Zola shouts as soon as she realizes what they're walking towards, "NO WAY! Aunt Maggie, is what I think is happening actually happening?"

And just like that, Maggie knows all the money in the world is worth this moment. The childlike wonder in Zola's eyes as she looks up at Maggie justifies the means. Maggie simply smiles and nods, and Zola hugs her then takes off to explain to the little's what's happening. Seconds later she hears everyone's delighted shouts as Jackson gently squeezes her hand letting her know without words that this is why he did it, and he'd do it again.

Maggie is sitting in her lab looking over the latest results from the animal trials of her rechargeable hearts when Alex barges in without knocking.

"Uhh, hi Alex. Where's the fire?" Maggie asks with a raised brows.

"Huh? Oh. Nothing. I just realized I haven't spoken to you in a while. How are you?"

"I'm fine. What about you?"

It's Alex's turn to fraise his brow, "Fine?"

"Fine."

"Are you sure? It's almost Christmas."

Maggie looks at him like he's lost it, "Ohhh… kayyy. And?"

"And, we're supposed to be having a Kardashian Christmas or whatever, in your 100 million dollar mansion but Jackson said you guys are probably going to sell it and find somewhere else."

"Jackson said what? Why would he say that? This is the first I'm hearing of it. And it was not 100 million dollars."

"Why wouldn't he say it Mags? The house was ready 2 months ago and you haven't said a thing about it. We all get why you're not ready but it's time to make a decision."

"Alex…"

"Look, you know we all love you so no one's going to push you. No one but me that is." He smirks. "I'm the only one with enough balls to tell you what you need to hear."

Maggie laughs, "You're probably right there. Everyone else has this little thing called empathy." She teases. "No but honestly Alex, I haven't thought about the house because I've just been so busy getting caught up on work. Jackson and I are working on things and getting stronger every day, and we've been finding a new rhythm now that we Harriet full time. It's been hella busy. It wasn't intentional. I mean it crossed my mind when we had Thanksgiving at Mere's cause the plan was to have it at our new house, but again, he hadn't mentioned it again and it completely slipped my mind."

"Okay, that all makes sense. So, now that it's at the forefront of your mind, what are you thinking and feeling?"

Maggie sits and thinks for a while, letting herself feel whatever she does in regards to the house and she's surprised when all she feels is excitement at the prospect of moving. There's still an undercurrent of sadness but it's the same sadness she walks around with every day. The sadness she knows will always be there for both her baby and her mom.

"Don't worry Alex. We've got 3 weeks. You'll get your Kardashian Christmas. I'll talk to Jackson tonight."

Alex nods, "I mean I'm excited about it, especially since you guys didn't take me to Disney" he laughs "but if you're not ready Mags that's fine. I just know no one else will address it."

"No, no. it's fine. You were right to bring it up. Thank you Alex." Maggie says as she stands and hugs him.

"Alright," Alex says as he holds her loosely "enough of this."

Jackson walks into the penthouse that evening to find Harriet watching Moana for the millionth time, while Maggie is in the kitchen cooking what smells like lasagna. Thank God. He was starving. He gives Harriet a kiss on the forehead, and heads to the kitchen to greet Maggie.

"Hey baby," he says as she's taking the lasagna out the oven.

Maggie places the dish on the counter and walks over to kiss Jackson, "Hi babe. How are you?"

"I'm good. Starving."

"Lucky you. Can you take Harriet upstairs and you two wash up for dinner while I finish up in here?"

"Aye aye Captain." He says as he gives her one more kiss and heads upstairs with Harriet at his side.

Maggie had left the hospital after her talk with Alex and stopped by the new house. She wanted to be sure before she brought it up to Jackson, that she was actually okay with living there. She knew now without a doubt that she was ready for the move. More than ready.

When Jackson and Harriet come back down, dinner is on the table and they all sit down to eat. They each take turns talking about their day and anything else that comes to mind.

They're almost done when Maggie claps her hands in front of her and says, "So"

"uh oh" Jackson whispers to Harriet but loud enough for Maggie to hear, "did you feed your veggies to the fish again Harriet?"

Harriet laughs, "No silly. Fish can't eat veggies. I know that now." She says at the same time Maggie says "Oh hush Jackson."

"Did I leave the toilet seat up again? Did you fall in?"

Maggie points her fork at him, "actually, you did and we'll talk about that later Sir but if you don't mind I'd like to say what I was trying to say."

"Ooh, ooh I know. You broke the washing machine again."

Maggie rolls her eyes exasperated, " you know what? I think Hattie and I will move into the new house without you. You're way too annoying."

At that Jackson freezes, surely he heard wrong.

"Really?" Harriet squeals. "We finally get to go to the forever home? Yayyy!"

Maggie pulls Harriet to her lap and focuses on her while Jackson learns to breathe again. "Yes we do. It's about time, don't you think?"

Suddenly Harriet is serious and says "Are you sure? I don't want my Maggie bear to be sad."

"Sad?"

"Yeah. I wasn't a'posed to say anything about the new house to you cause it makes you sad a'cause of our baby in heaven."

Maggie looks up at Jackson and sees his eyes are welling up with tears, before she can say anything Harriet grabs her face and tilts her head so she's looking her in the eye "Are you sure?" she asks again. If she wasn't so serious Maggie would laugh.

"Yes. I'm sure Hattie bear."

"Yayyy!"

"Hey Harriet, can you do me a favor and go pick out which pajamas you wanna wear tonight, then we'll come up and help you."

Harriet jumps off Maggie's lap, "Okay, but you don't have to help me. I'm a big girl." She says as she skips off.

Maggie gets up and sits on Jackson lap and his arms instinctively wrap around her waist. He kisses her shoulder and then asks the same question Harriet did just minutes ago, "Are you sure?"

"Positive" she says with a bright smile. "I actually stopped by today."

"Really?" he asks shocked.

"Yeah. I wanted to be sure, you know?"

"And you're sure?"

Maggie rolls her eyes, "Yes Jackson. For the third time in just as many minutes, I'm sure. Thank you for giving me the time and space to work through it all but I'm okay now. I'm ready to move forward."

"I love you Maggie." he says as he kisses her.

She leans her forehead against his and replies, "I love you too baby."

It's two weeks before Christmas and they've finally finish moving in all their things. It was a good thing all the construction had been done already or they never would have made their Christmas deadline. This would be their first night sleeping in the new home and everyone was excited to start the next chapter in their lives.

Maggie was down in the kitchen cooking their first family dinner in her new kitchen. She'd decided to make one of her specialties, homemade pizza. It was Harriet's favorite. She had just taken the pizza out the oven when she realized how quiet it was. Sure, the house was huge but she just knew something was off. She walks upstairs shouting for Jackson and Harriet, with no response. So she goes up to the third floor and calls out for them again. This time she hears Harriet shout back "Maggie up here!"

They were up on the roof. At the very least Harriet was. But she knew better than to go up there on her own so Maggie was sure Jackson was with her. They really needed to get walkie talkies or something around this place.

When she gets up to the roof she stops in her tracks and her jaw drops. There's no way this is happening. There in front of her, is Jackson kneeling on one knee next to the rooftop pool. The pool is filled with red rose petals and written in it in white rose petals is "will you marry me?"

"Jackson…" she says as she walks toward him with tears streaming down her face.

"Say yes. Say yes." Harriet says jumping up and down next to Jackson.

Jackson chuckles, "One second princess, daddy has to ask first."

"Oops. Sorry."

Maggie's standing directly in front of him now and he reaches out to grab her hand.

"Margaret Pierce, you are not only the love of my life, you're my best friend.-"

"You're my best friend too." Harriet interrupts.

At that Maggie starts ugly crying and Jackson chuckles and shakes his head.

"As I was saying, there's no one else in this world I'd rather go through the lowest lows, and highest highs with. You've loved my daughter as if she was your own, without reservation from the start. You're our missing puzzle piece-"

And as if they'd rehearsed it a thousand times, Harriet joins in and together they say "Will you marry us Maggie?"

Maggie kneels down so she's level with them and through her tears she says "Yes! A million times, yes!"

Harriet squeals while Jackson places the ring on Maggie's finger, then kisses it, and then pulls her in for a long deep kiss. They pull apart when Harriet jumps on Maggie's back. Maggie pulls her around and sits her in her lap as they all sit there on the ground by the side of the pool.

"Maggie" Harriet breaks the silence.

"Yes princess?"

"I don't actually want to marry you. I mean I want you to marry my daddy but not me. I just wanted to help him make it special. He said you'd love it." she says as she scrunches up her face.

Jackson and Maggie chuckle, "And he was right, I loved it. Thank you for helping him. But I get that. That makes sense." She was amazed at how smart Harriet was every single day.

"I do have a question for you." she says seriously.

"Shoot."

"Will you be my mommy?"

"Well… I'll be your stepmom when your daddy and I get married."

"No, I mean will you be my eagle mommy?"

At this Jackson cuts in, "She means will you adopt her?"

"Wait, what? Ohh, legal mommy"

"That's what I said." Harriet huffs

"Jackson, are you sure? I mean-"

"We're sure." He says cutting her off, "1000%. We discussed it and we agreed you should adopt her, if that's something you want."

"Of course it's something I want. I just want to be sure you're sure."

"Positive."

"But—"

"Later." He cuts her off and she simply nods, knowing this isn't something they want Harriet to hear.

"Of course I'll adopt you Hattie bear." Maggie says as she squeezes Harriet and gives her kisses all over her face.

Jackson had gotten April to sign over her parental rights after she was sentenced to 8 years in prison for pushing Maggie down the stairs and causing her miscarriage. He'd been able to appeal to the part of her that was always a good mother to Harriet, and only wanted what was best for her. He hoped that when April got out, she was in a better headspace and could be an active part of Harriet's life. He wasn't trying to cut her out forever but he knew Harriet needed this. Especially when he and Maggie began having children. He didn't want her to feel left out, or less than.

Jackson sat and watched as his ring glistened on Maggie's finger while she tickled Harriet. This is the life he'd always wanted, and he was excited for it to start. This would definitely be a short engagement. No way was he waiting long to make Maggie his wife and Harriet's mom.
