NC-17; As a reminder I'm not great with sex scenes, lol. Especially considering I rushed through this.
I really wanted to finish the story before I lost my fire again so I didn't have time to sit with it and write it over multiple times.

Maggie stood on the rooftop, looking down at the rose petal filled pool in awe. She was grateful for the retractable rooftop enclosure Jackson had added as part of the renovations pre-move in. They decided on it for Harriet's safety and also so they could come up here on cold winter nights and still enjoy the space. This was by far Maggie's favorite part of the house, and she's almost positive it's why Jackson chose this spot to propose.
She couldn't believe how beautiful and thoughtful Jackson's proposal had been. And doing it on their first night in their new home was a stroke of genius. She honestly hadn't seen it coming. It'd been 3 months since they'd lost the baby, and while they were doing amazing, they still hadn't made love. Neither one had even attempted anything more than intense make out sessions since the night Maggie had come onto him and he'd rightfully put a stop to things. It hadn't been intentional, not on Maggie's end at least. They were just really enjoying relating, communicating, and spending time together healing. Their relationship was stronger than it'd ever been.
Maggie's thoughts are halted when she feels Jackson wrap his arms around her waist from behind. She jumps a little and he chuckles as he places a kiss on her head.
"What were you so deep in thought about?"
She turns in his arms so she's facing him and looks up into his blue eyes "Did you get her down okay?"
"I did. I had to read two stories but she seemed okay. She loves everything you let her pick for her room. Said she doesn't even miss her old one."
Maggie laughs and then doubles back to his question, "I was just thinking about how amazing, beautiful, and unexpected tonight was."
"I'm glad you loved it. Although, it was hardly unexpected. Big mouth down there told you there was a ring."
"I know, I just-" she fiddles with the chain around his neck and avoids his gaze but he grips her chin and tilts her head back until blue meets brown.
"You just what? Talk to me."
"I just didn't think you'd ask just yet."
"Why not? You think I jumped the gun?"
"NO! God no. I just- we just- I mean, we haven't made love in months."
"And?" Jackson shrugs, "it's not because there's anything wrong in our relationship. Personally, I think our bond is stronger than it's ever been."
"Me too," she interrupts, "I was actually thinking about that while I was waiting for you to come back."
"Look, we, you especially, went through something traumatic. I'm in no rush. Afterall, we have the rest of our lives for that." He smirks.
She chuckles then looks up at him through her lashes, "I am ready though. To make love again I mean."
"Mag-"
"I'm not just saying it. I mean it. Proposal or not, I wanted us to celebrate our first night here properly." She says before she pushes up on her toes and pulls Jackson into her for a kiss. When she deepens the kiss, Jackson lifts her off the ground and her legs immediately wrap around his waist. He walks them over to the outdoor daybed he'd chosen with this very thing in mind, and lays her gently on her back.
He looks down at her and asks, "Are you sure?"
She simply pulls her shirt over her head revealing her bare chest in response. Jackson takes his answer and pulls her pants and thong off at once. Jackson stares down at her completely bare, wearing nothing but the 15 carat ring he placed on her finger an hour ago, and he's sure he's never seen anything more beautiful.
He strips down to nothing and Maggie's breath gets caught in her throat at the sight of him towering over her in his birthday suit. She was sure she'd lose it if she didn't have him immediately, "are you just gonna stand there and stare?" she manages to croak out.
"Not a chance," Jackson says as he kneels down and peppers hot open mouthed kisses up her thighs.
"Jackson ple-" she starts breathlessly, but she's cut off when his tongue makes contact with her core for the first time in months and she has to stop herself from exploding right then.
He simultaneously licks and sucks her clit as she squirms. Then he sticks his finger in her and before he can add a second finger, she's crying out as she comes. He continues licking and sucking as she rides out her orgasm. When her body relaxes he pulls back and smirks up at her. "Miss me?" he asks as he kisses his way up her body before he captures her lips.
As they kiss, Maggie reaches down between them and wraps her hand around his dick and strokes him. "Shit, baby." Jackson growls as he pulls her hand away. "I'm not gonna last. I need to be inside you."
"I need you inside me." she pants. Within seconds Jackson is pushing into her inch by agonizing inch, stretching her and giving her body time to adjust to his size. "Jackson. Faster. Harder" she cries out. He gives her what she wants as he slides in and out of her warm, tight opening.
"I'm close," she says breathlessly, "don't stop."
"Fuck!" Jackson says through clenched teeth, "Come for me baby."
His words are her undoing and Maggie comes for the second time that night, and Jackson's orgasm follows immediately after as he calls out her name.
They lie there side by side, both trying to catch their breath. Maggie shifts to lay her head on his chest as he wraps an arm around her and places a chaste kiss on her forehead.
"You okay?" he asks.
"Okay? I'm amazing. I can't believe it's been as long as it has without that" she chuckles.
"You and me both."
About 10 minutes had gone by and neither had said a word. They were content to simply lay together looking out at the skyline. The only movement had been Jackson leaning over to grab the plush blanket to cover themselves with.
Jackson had begun to doze off when he heard Maggie's soft voice, "Sooo"
"Sooo" He responds as he gently caresses her arm.
"We're getting married?" she asks shyly as she looks up at him.
"We're getting married," he says as he kisses her lips, "tomorrow preferably."
At that Maggie chuckles, "I'm pretty sure I have surgery tomorrow. You do too if I'm not mistaken."
"Fine, what time frame were you thinking?"
"Hmm, a year?"
"A YEAR? Nope. Absolutely not."
"What? Why? That's a good amount of time to plan a wedding."
"Mag-"
"I want a wedding Jackson."
"I know. So do I. I just want it to happen soon."
"Jackson. Things are booked a year out for weddings."
"Maggie." he sighs.
"Jackson."
"I know you like to fight against what it means, but I'm an Avery and you will be too."
"Oooh kay."
"You can have everything you want without compromising or waiting a whole year."
It's Maggie's turn to sigh now, "I don't fight against it, I'm just not used to it. And honestly, I forget sometimes what that means."
"I get that, but now that you've been reminded... timeframe?"
Maggie rolls her eyes and chuckles, "Fine. Is 6 months, okay?"
"It is if it has to be, but I'm not kidding Maggie. I want you as my wife as soon as possible, but I also want you to have your dream wedding so I'm willing to compromise a little."
"Compromise?" her brow raises.
"I agreed to 6 months, when I'd prefer 6 hours. Compromise."
She laughs out loud at this, "Well aren't I lucky my fiancé is such a patient man?"
"You definitely are. Now enough talking." He says as he flips her on her back and kisses her.
The following morning had been chaotic in the Pierce-Avery household, and Maggie was exhausted. Between having to get up earlier because they were now further away from the hospital, and having to adjust their morning routine with the new space in mind, Maggie had been moving frantically since the moment she woke up.
Now that they'd finally made it to the hospital, and dropped Harriet off at daycare they were finally able to breathe a little bit. You know it's a lot when the place they find peace is in the midst of Grey-Sloan craziness.
Jackson looked on as Maggie removed her engagement ring and placed it in the pocket of her lab coat. "What are you doing?" he demanded.
She raised a brow and rolls her eyes, "Down boy. I haven't told my sisters yet. I can't very well walk around with this glacier on my finger and hope no one sees it before I tell them."
"Oh. Okay."
"Jackson, you do know this ring isn't practical. I'm going to have to take it off more than I leave it on."
"And why is that?"
"I'm a surgeon Avery." She rolls her eyes.
He sighs, "should I have gotten something different?"
Maggie's hand clamps down on her pocket that the ring is in, "God no. I love this ring. I'm just letting you know."
He grips her hips and places a chaste kiss on her lips, "consider it known. Guess that means we need to hurry up and get that wedding band in place, huh?"
Amelia and Meredith were in the plant room talking when Maggie walked in.
"Uhh, hello. I've been looking everywhere for you two" she huffs.
"Uhh, hello. Did you call one of us? I have no missed messages, what about you Mere?" Amelia says cheekily.
"Nope." Meredith replies, "We honestly didn't think you and Avery would make it in today."
"What? Why not? What do you know?" Maggie asks looking rapidly between her sisters.
"Uhh, that you guys spent your first night in your new house" Meredith says.
"Oh."
Amelia raises a brow, "oh?"
"Yes. Oh."
"Is there something else we should know?" Meredith asks.
"What? No. I mean…. Well" Maggie stutters before she smiles brighter than her sisters have ever seen.
Amelia's jaw drops and Meredith smirks in recognition.
"Pay up Amelia" Meredith says at the same time that Maggie shouts "WE'RE GETTING MARRIED!" waving her hand for her sisters to see the ring she discreetly slipped on while standing there. "Wait, what?" Maggie asks but she's attacked by her sisters hugging her and congratulating her. They talk excitedly and animatedly over one another as they begin talking about the proposal and wedding plans.
6 Months Later
Maggie and Jackson had spent the past 6 months preparing for this day. From cake tastings, to venue tours, to wardrobe fittings, they'd done it all and to Jackson's surprise he'd enjoyed every second of it. Well, except for the floral appointments, he could've done without those. But planning this day with Maggie, deciding on things that represented them as a couple, not as individuals, it had been a good time. Now that the day was finally here, they were both excited for two things: 1) They'd finally end this day as husband and wife. Something that's taken forever. And 2) the planning would be over.
Fun as it was, any longer and they just might have hit a point where they were ready to kill each other. Better to end it while things are still going well.
The moment was overwhelming for Maggie as she thought back to her childhood. She was an only child, and she never really had any friends because she had always been so much younger than everyone around. Weird too. She was so much weirder than everyone growing up. But as she looked around her bridal suite, and thought about the day ahead of her she couldn't help but smile and fight back tears of joy. She didn't want to ruin her makeup just yet, but life had been amazing to her. All the loneliness, the hard work, the fear, the unbearable heartbreak, it all lead her to this very moment. She was marrying the love of her life with her sisters by her side. She had nieces and nephews whom she adored, and they adored her the same. A hospital full of friends. Both of her fathers would be there to walk her down the aisle. Her soon to be mother-in-love, Catherine, who had been amazing and invaluable throughout the planning of the wedding, considering how much she missed her mom. And she had a 6 year old girl out there, that she couldn't believe she could now call daughter. Life was amazing.
She looked in the mirror and gently touched the necklace around her neck as she thought back to last night.
"Alright, you two break it up," Amelia says as she grabs Maggie's hand and attempts to pull her from Jackson's hold but he just holds on tighter.
"It's 12 hours. You'll see each other in 12 hours." Meredith says from her spot by the door, "Let go Jackson."
He places a kiss on Maggie's forehead and looks at Amelia, "okay, okay. Can you all just give us five minutes alone and she's all yours? I promise."
"Five minutes. Make it quick." Amelia says as she let's go of Maggie's hand and walks out, leaving them alone in their home where the guys were staying with the kids, while the ladies went to stay in a suite at the vineyard where they were getting married tomorrow.
Jackson pulls Maggie towards the living room, "come on. you heard them. I don't have much time but I wanted to give you your wedding present."
"Oh. I have yours at the hotel. I was going to give it to you after the wedding. I wish I knew."
"No, no. baby it's okay. After is perfect, it's just really important that you have this before you walk down the aisle."
Maggie looks at him nervously, "Ohh… kay"
Jackson laughs and pulls something from under the couch cushion, and her jaw drops. That box. Everyone knows that box. It's Tiffany blue, and that means diamonds. "Jackson…."
"I know. I know. You're not into flashy but I promise this is perfect for you. I know you said your dress would act as your something new, but I wonder if you'd reconsider." He says as he opens the box. And again, her jaw drops as she gasps. "Jackson, it's – I.."
He chuckles and gently pushes her chin up so that her mouth closes, "what do you think?"
She looks down at the classic line necklace sitting pretty in the box as she timidly reaches out and touches it. Aside from her engagement ring, this was by far the most extravagant thing she'd ever received, and still, just like he'd said, it was perfect for her. It wasn't super flashy and gaudy, it was simple perfection. A round platinum diamond necklace. Simple, understated, yet breathtaking elegance.
"Jackson, I don't know what to say. I love it. I love you. It's perfect."
"So you'll wear it as your something new?" he asks with a bright smile.
"Of course I will." She beams, "and oh my God, it's so beautiful and timeless, maybe it could be Harriet's something old in the future."
He didn't know how he could, but he loved her even more in that moment. This was her big day and she was thinking about his daughter, their daughter. She was perfect. "That'd be amazing."
"I know it's for tomorrow, but I want the first person to place it on me to be you. Will you?" she asks as she turns her back to him and lifts her hair.
"With pleasure." He removes the necklace from its resting place, clasps it around her neck, and then places a kiss at the nape of her neck.
She turns to him and smiles that heart stopping smile, "how does it look baby?"
"Breathtaking."
Knock. Knock.
She was brought out of her musings by the knock on the door.
"It's open" she calls out.
Her dad and Richard walk in and both are speechless at the sight of her.
Her dad grabs her hands in his, "Baby girl, you look stunning."
"I second that." Richard says as he places a hand on her shoulder.
She was wearing a pure white lace mermaid gown with a soft tulle train. It had a sweetheart neckline and was off the shoulder. There was intricate beading across the neckline that really made the dress pop. Maggie's favorite part though? The back where it dipped all the way down to the small of her back. She knew Jackson would love it and she couldn't wait to see his reaction.
"So, you ready to get out there?"
She smiles bright without a nerve in sight, "Ready."
Jackson was in his Groom's suite with Ben, Alex, and Owen, who were standing up for him, laughing as they reminisced on his Bachelor party two nights ago. They'd had a great time eating, drinking, and playing pool and blackjack.
"You seem mighty calm for someone getting married in less than an hour" Alex points out.
"Yeah, well" Jackson says as he smiles, "she's the one. This is right."
Ben claps him on the shoulder, "I'm happy for you man. I'm glad you both fought so hard and made it here."
"Thanks bro. I appreciate that."
"Where you guys going for your honeymoon again?" Owen questions.
"The Maldives, but Maggie doesn't know so don't say anything to anyone." Jackson warns. "Not even Amelia. Especially not Amelia."
"Got it. That sounds like a good time."
Just as he's about to reply his mom opens the door and smiles at him, "You ready baby?"
"Ready mom."
Jackson stood at the top of the aisle and watched the wedding party make their way down the aisle. He smiled ear to ear when Harriet and Ellis skipped down the aisle throwing rose petals, followed closely by Bailey pulling a wagon with Greyson sitting snuggly in it.
When the opening chords of From This Moment by Shania Twain began playing began playing, everyone stood and Jackson held his breath. He couldn't wait to see Maggie. When she finally appeared at the end of the aisle, Jackson lost all coherent thought. He knew she'd look beautiful but this? Wow.
From this moment, life has begun
From this moment, you are the one
Right beside you is where I belong
From this moment on
From this moment, I have been blessed
I live only for your happiness
And for your love, I'd give my last breath
From this moment on
She looked more stunning than he ever could have imagined. He immediately began tearing up. When she finally made it to him, he noticed her eyes were also welling up with tears, "You're breathtaking" he said as he grabbed her hand and helped her up the 2 steps to the alter.
"You look amazing as well," she says shyly.
When they are in place the pastor begins, "We are gathered here today before friends, family, and above all else, God, to witness the holy matrimony of Jackson Avery and Margaret Pierce. We're thankful for all the blessings that brought us here today and those that brought Jackson and Margaret together to make this day possible. Love and marriage are truly one of God's greatest gifts and accomplishments. And so, by giving selflessly to another, we make ourselves stronger and our lives that much richer. It's truly one of the greatest miracles we've been given. Now I ask Jackson and Maggie to join hands. They have prepared their own vows. Jackson you may begin."
"Maggie," he takes a deep breath, as Maggie reaches out and wipes the stray tear that escapes, he turns his face and places a kiss in her palm before continuing, "I can't even verbally express how much I love you. The way you love me and the way you love Harriet is just amazing. Your capacity for love is awe-inspiring. You inspire me more than anyone I've ever known. We've been through some things that would have broken most couples, but it brought us closer together. I didn't know love like this existed. A love that can make it through anything thrown at it. I've never loved you more than I do this very second, and still I know tomorrow, I'll love you even more. My love for you is infinite and it builds on itself daily. I can't wait to experience what else life has in store for us. I'm grateful you chose me. That we chose each other and I'm going to spend every day of the rest of my life choosing you. Choosing us. And choosing to believe you when you say there are bears." He says as everyone laughs.
"Margaret," the pastor says, "your turn."
Maggie chuckles and chokes out, "how am I supposed to top that?" she looks up at Jackson who's smirking down at her and gets lost in his blue eyes. She doesn't know how long she's standing there staring and smiling, but when Jackson clears his throat and everyone laughs, she knows it was long enough for everyone to notice.
She joins the laughter, "Sorry. But you all see this face." She says as she points and more laughter ensues, while Jackson rolls his eyes and chuckles. "Okay, I'm ready." Maggie says as she pulls herself together. "Jackson Avery. I'm beyond grateful for the man you are. You're strong, and kind, and generous, and humble, and above all else, your patience is unmatched. Goodness knows you've needed it to love me. You've given me so much. A daughter whom I adore. The confidence to know that I can be loved for exactly who I am. The freedom to fail and fall with the knowledge that I'll always have someone to pick me up and propel me forward.
I spent so much of the beginning of our relationship running. Running from you. Running from love… And you know what I know? I'm actually really good at running, so instead of stopping, I'm switching routes. I promise to spend the rest of my life running. Running towards you. Towards your love. Towards Hattie. Towards this life that we're building. You are now, and always will be my home." Maggie says with finality as she and Jackson look at each other both with tear filled eyes and bright smiles.
"That was beautiful. Now, the rings, please" the pastor says.
Jackson turns to Ben, and Maggie turns to Zola to collect their rings. Maggie had made Zola a junior bridesmaid and tasked her with the responsibility of holding the ring. She can admit that it was a way to avoid choosing between Amelia and Meredith, but she was also happy she could make Zola feel like an important part of her big day.
"Maggie, place your ring on Jackson's hand and repeat after me. Jackson, please accept this ring as a token of my true, pure love for you. With this I give you my heart and my soul. They are yours forever more."
With a shaky hand Maggie places the onyx band with black diamonds on Jackson's hand and recites the pastor's words, "Jackson, please accept this ring as a token of my true, pure love for you. With this I give you my heart and my soul. They are yours forever more."
"Jackson, place your ring on Maggie's hand and repeat after me. Maggie, please accept this ring as a token of my true, pure love for you. With this I give you my heart and my soul. They are yours forever more."
Jackson places the diamond band on Maggie's finger and recites the pastor's words, "Maggie, please accept this ring as a token of my true, pure love for you. With this I give you my heart and my soul. They are yours forever more." then he places a gentle kiss to Maggie's ring finger.
"We thank God for bringing Jackson and Maggie together and for blessing them now and always. Now by the power vested in me by the State of Washington, I pronounce you man and wife. Jackson, -" Jackson pulls Maggie to him, and kisses her. The pastor chuckles, "kiss your bride."
Jackson moves his hands down to the small of Maggie's back and moans into her mouth when he realizes her dress is backless. "Oh, so you don't wanna make it to the reception, huh?" he whispers in her ear.
She pushes his shoulder lightly and giggles, "Behave Mr. Avery."
"Not a chance… Mrs. Avery."
Fav And Review. Also, Apologies If It Feels Rushed. Again, Tried To Crank This Out While The Motivation Is Still There.
Also, Sorry For Any Mistakes You Spot. I Usually Go Over It 2-3 Times & I Still Miss Things. (This Is Why Books Go Through So Many Rounds Of Edits, Haha) I Can't Imagine What It Looks Like With Only 1 Read Through. Lol
