Just as expected Lu wasn't so easily convinced, and so it had been decided; Tuesday night, after they were both off from work, Lizzy would babysit Rosa, and Andy and Lu would make their way into a restaurant. Neither of them cared which restaurant, neither of them cared about the food.
They cared about the implications. They cared about what they were willing to talk about when it came to them and where they went from here. Neither of them dared bring up what Lu had said –and implied—the night she had moved out, and so most of the night was spent reading between the lines of what the other person had said.
It was exhausting for both of them and neither were entirely sure where they stood when they finally arrived back at Andy's house. For Andy it was time to go home, tuck her daughter into bed, and wonder where to go from here. For Lu it was picking her daughter up from Andy's house, tuck Rosa into bed once she got back home, and wonder where they would go from here.
''This, tonight, it was nice,'' Lu said softly, leaning against the front door. They were still outside. She didn't want to go in yet, wanted to savor the moment for just a little bit longer.
Andy nodded slowly, ''yeah, it was.'' The whole night had just culminated in a mix of different feelings and she didn't know how to make sense of them—and for at least a part of them there was only one way to figure them out. After a moment of hesitation she leaned in, kissing Lu softly.
It was entirely too short for either of their liking.
''That was nice…'' Lu said, only barely being able to get the whole sentence out before being cut off by Andy who was kissing her harder now, pushing Lu into the front door this time, her hands actually touching Lu this time.
