Eragon A New Hope

Disclaimer: Not a good writer as I would hope I could be. Also might notice I will be possibly doing something similar to another series called Bloodkin.

Chapter 1

Eragon pulled back the string of his bow Arrow notched on it. And ready to fire. a buck on the far side of the clearing was his target and after a few breaths he let go of the arrow. It flew straight if not for what happened in an instant. There was a loud explosion sound and flash of light; or rather four. His sight taken for the moment as he pulled himself into the bush away from it. once things settled down he looked into the clearing, getting closer… Obviously the buck had fled and the arrow was wiggling on the tree and burnt a bit. He sighed there goes one of his better arrows. He looked at what was in the center of the blast zone. And it was four equal sized ovals… large as his head. A blue one, A red one, A violet one, a grey one. He blinked at this and tapped one of them, the blue one, And it was a clear note. Not something he thought a stone would produce. He sighed picking them up and taking them to camp to show Roran and Murtagh.

Arriving at camp. "Ah Eragon returns. With an invisble catch?" He heard Murtagh say.
"Hear hear brother, It isn't that, it might just be small." Roran said to this, Sadly he didn't have meat but really they didn't need more meat or skins. But another buck to sell to Sloan would have been nice. Along with the antlers being nice to set up as a rack to either have at home or sell to the traders soon coming.

"Sorry my brothers, I couldn't get the Stag, the loud sounds you had to of heard, spooked him and likely won't be back till tomorrow if at all." He said,
"Ah, oh well we can just take what we have now and take it back." Murtagh said and just smiled happy his brother was back.
"You wouldn't believe what was there after the sounds." He said showing his pack and the four stones. He was able to pull them out and show them "These were in the middle of it."
Murtagh looked at them and so did Roran, and ended up touching each of them… to their surprise and even Eragons they were shocked… and taking notice. When Murtagh touched the Red one or Grey it didn't shock him, But the violet one it did. Roran could touch the Violet and Grey one but not the Red… Eragon sighed and tried taking them back but the red and Violet one seemed to not want him. So he picked up and put the grey one in the pouch and sighed. "We leave in the morning right?" Eragon asked.
The other two nodded. "Yep time to tell father about the freezes and coming winter along with just getting this food back to prepare in various ways for keeping the meat." Murtagh commented.

Morning came fast and the three rose before the sun splashing water on their faces and getting a brisk drink. Small breakfast and they took off heading for the valley proper and smiling as they went down.
They would approach the first place the watermill that Jack owned.

"Ah the hunters return?" Ask a familiar voice to the boys. Well they stopped by his shop to see what crazy nonsense their eccentric friend was up to Jack smiled rubbing his knuckles and was working on seemingly the wheels of his mill. Well it was more than a simple mill. He would just be upgrading the place… he had a mill stone to grind down seed into flour for a small price, and it was simpler than horses, mules or by hand. The other options was to set up the wheel to tenderize meat which was one of the things the three brothers would accomplish. Eragon smiled but was upset he was the only one to fail to bag anything. Roran and Murtagh got a stag and a doe, But he found these odd stones. And decided to to show Jack these. He blinked seeing them. "Where did you find these things?" He asked currious looking over each stone.

Jack with dark auburn hair would smile looking at them as he held the grey one in his hand and soon found that he couldn't examine the other stones. As he found quickly the other three didn't want him but the Grey one let him pick it up… But once that happened the other three couldn't take it.

"So the stones… picked us?" He asked before shaking his head, "if this is how they work… then how do we even sell them?" He asked as they might want to sell them but seemed they couldn't eve give them up since they had seemingly picked them. Jack just sighed, "Sorry, just take this, I… was hoping to show my weapons but seems I messed up plans."

Each of the brothers just nodded but shook their head, "Now saying that, If we try selling these they will just shock the new owner. We can't sell them. In this state, So just seems we keep them as new knicknacks." Eragon said before Roran shook his head," Father would be suspicious about these and they appeared in an explosion, a magic force. He would want us to be rid of these things." He said.

Murtagh just sighed. "We can just keep quiet about it and say we got enough meat for the winter."

Jack shrugged. "We… Well you three can do that. I can keep the one here." He suggested and pocketing his money he just let them go on into town.

Passing by Sloan's shop there was a fuss. Sloan and his daughter were arguing. "Yes father its a rock that mother left for me I know it has to be." And Sloan was heard. "Its a cursed item Get rid of it, for goodness sake the Spine has never given any good."

"Oh you should know father what evils a stone can do." As the boys got close enough to see Katrina run her way inside the shop as Sloan was groaning and rubbing the back of his neck. Roran was looking longingly. Even had the idea to try and propose soon to her. Sighing the boy would decide to head on with Eragon and Murtagh. As they bantered a bit as they arrived at their farm. It was a long walk from Carvahall but not too far. Finally it was when the sun started passing overhead and to the other side of the valley… any longer and they would be ending up with the night coming. The Hunters passed the last bit of woods and onto the familiar farm. Smiling as they walked closer Garrow had them and some hands on the fields working. After all the farm was a large one. And Garrow a bit of a land lord had a family working for him, or at least they hoped to continue working for Garrow cause it was a dangerous land and better to help on the farm than not.

Roran, Eragon, and Murtagh approached the housing and the barn where they likely would find Garrow calling out for him. "Father we have returned." Roran started, "And we got lots of meat out there and several hides." Eragon added, Murtagh smiled, "So we can tan the hides and make repairs or new gear as we need. "

Garrow take care of the cows in the barn and the single horse. "Ah, good boys." He said, "Enough for winter?" He asked simply

Eragon smiled, "Enough for winter even the Ferrors would be able to eat." And that was a good thing since they could get that… And Jack making money like he was, if things held out he likely would shore up the meat for their house too. Made things easier when Jack was the smart one and had apprenticed himself to Horst only to branch out and be the weapon smith for the town while horst kept tools up in shape even helped keep Jack's tools in good condition. And knew how to run Jack's mill and forge should he leave. Jack had broke himself on making such a place but it was worth.

Not even mentioning the stones the boys would be thinking on who to show them to… most in carvahall even their own father would want to get rid of them. And well the only one to ask was maybe Brom but he had warnings for traveling out into the spine for them all the time. Like he was trying to advise them often. Well they did have to heed his advise as it often helped their hunts.

So maybe, Storing away the meat and stretching the hides, it was time to cook dinner and at the table.

Garrow asked them, "So what happened out there? Is it starting to freeze?" He asked more or less to see when they would be best to harvest.

Murtagh spoke," It started freezing out there not too cold but it was enough to leave frost on the ground and the streams a bit iced over." He said.

Garrow nodded, "Ah. So we harvest the barley, and get everything out of the ground we can. Will have to inform the Ferrors of this. Well we eat tonight, and a toast to the successful hunt." Garrow said offering his cup to the air as the boys followed doing the same and drank before getting down to it.

In their shared room, "So any ideas, whom to ask about these?" Eragon asked looking at the blue stone in his hands, though noticing something odd on his hand pulling it back and looking before sighing. Nothing was wrong with it. But he could have sworn there was a star on it… in direct light of the candle it seemed to hide it. "Well whatever the case hopefully these are not detrimental to… our lives here." He said before just setting the stone on the shelf near his bed. Murtagh shrugging. "I doubt it. As Katrina said, what evil can a stone bring?" He said, Roran flushing red but letting it go looking at the purple egg in hand and just putting it on his shelf.

Morning brought what it brought. Hard work in the fields. The Ferrors and the Brothers working out in the fields gathering the barly, and the Ferrors that could work it doing half barley and the other half looking at the ground little sister, Aya, and the wife, Lilly, was working with the finer plants plucking the fruit and into baskets for them to split up into different piles for keeping, for one or the other house hold, or selling. Hard grueling work.

It was three days of this, and a good nights rest. Before long they would be heading into town with all things to sell to meet with the Traders that should be arriving that day too. Jack having come with a message that he saw their camp smoke on down the valley. Meaning that they would be here by the next day. Jack had brought meat with him too to give to his family… no he was the middle sibbling of the family if that was anything to go by.
