Enjoy, My Dear!
Lucy was grinning ear to ear as they entered the noisy guild. Her hand was in Freed's as they walked in and she gave it a squeeze, turning her smile towards her disturbed husband. She looked to where he was staring and saw a man in his underwear fighting a guy with pink hair. She felt like she'd seen the Fire Mage before but couldn't quite place her finger on it.
"Why is he practically naked?" Lucy blushed slightly as she pointed at the fighting pair.
Laxus groaned and started making his way towards the bar, the couple quickly following him. "Cause he's a pervert."
"Oh." She frowned, moving closer to Freed as an uncomfortable feeling went through her. She didn't know if that was considered normal among commoners, but it was definitely strange for her. Revealing clothes was one thing, but he was almost- and there goes his underwear. She blushed brighter and stumbled in her step, her hand slipping from Freed's as she fell.
Before she could hit the ground, an unfamiliar arm wrapped around her waist. She gasped as she was pulled up, her eyes landing on a pair of hazel ones.
"I see you've already fallen for me." A smooth voice chuckled.
She blinked as she stared at the orange haired mage in front of her. He pushed up his glasses and before she could answer, someone slammed into him. She jumped back in surprise, her face burning red when the naked man from before suddenly stood in front of her.
"Excuse me, may I borrow your underwear?"
She let out a small scream and turned away with her hands on her face. What was with this crazy guild? A grunt of pain was heard behind her and she peeked between her fingers to see what happened. The stripper was gone and was instead replaced by a leg in the air. She let her gaze travel up the black pant leg, meeting a white dress shirt, and landing on the angry face of her normally calm and collected husband. "Freed?"
Freed quickly brought his leg down in shock. "Oh my, I did not mean- My body just- oh dear." He placed a hand over his mouth, a small flush of embarrassment dusting his cheeks.
Laxus stared in shock for only a moment before bursting out laughing. "Goddamnit, Freed! That was awesome!" He cackled.
Lucy grabbed Freed's arm and gave him a smile. "I thought it was sweet, in a brutal kinda way." She snickered.
"Please, let us be on our way." Freed grumbled, trying to usher the laughing blondes.
Laxus led them to the bar, still chuckling. Freed wasn't usually one to act before thinking, so it was quite amusing to see Gray go flying through the air. They stopped at the bar and Mira turned to smile at them. "Where's Gramps?" Laxus asked.
"Mirajane!" Lucy squealed before the barmaid could answer. "I absolutely love your centerfolds!"
Mira smiled sweetly at the smaller blonde. "Thank you, I appreciate your support. Are you here to join?"
Lucy nodded quickly. "You bet!"
Mira giggled as she picked up a glass to clean. "Master is up in his office, we're so glad to see some new faces." She turns to Freed. "Are you her friend here to join as well?"
Freed gave a small nod. "Yes, I am here to join. She is my wife."
Mira squealed louder than Lucy had. "Oh you two are such an adorable couple!"
Laxus groaned and rubbed his ear. "Enough with the annoying fangirling, let's go." He huffed before turning to make his way up the stairs.
Lucy waved him off. "I'll catch up." She saw Laxus roll his eyes and turn to leave. She gave Freed a sweet smile when he placed a kiss on her cheek before following after Laxus. She turned back to Mira excitedly. "It's an honour to meet you!" She took a seat at the bar.
"Why thank you." Mira smiled sweetly. "What's your name?"
"My name is Lucy, and my husband is Freed. We've both wanted to join for a long time." Lucy said with a smile.
"It's good to meet you guys. If you don't mind me asking, how long have you two been together?" Mira just adored romance, and the guild was severely lacking in it. The only two that were even remotely close romantically would be Bisca and Alzak, and even they were hopeless. She didn't even want to mention Jet and Droy.
Lucy shuffled awkwardly in her seat. Should she lie or tell the truth? Would Mira view her weird if she found out they were a part of an arranged marriage? Maybe she should lie and say they've been together for a couple years. Then again, she could trust her, right? They were a part of the same guild, and she seemed so sweet and her presence calmed her. She supposed telling someone other than Laxus would be fine. "Can we keep this just between us?"
Mira nodded quickly, leaning in close. "Of course." She couldn't wait to hear what the blonde had to say.
Lucy sighed and folded her hands. "The truth is, Freed and I had an arranged marriage a little over a month ago. We ran away from our high society lives because we both dreamed of becoming real mages." She watched as the barmaids eyes widened. "During our first meeting, we both discovered each other's magic, and we agreed to help each other escape. At first, we went along with the marriage quietly because we needed to have our fathers let their guards down so we could slip out." She felt her cheeks warm. "Then it kinda turned into more than just helping each other. We ended up actually falling in love."
Mira placed a hand over her heart and swooned. "That was beautiful, Lucy! A true love story!" She sighed dreamily. "It sounds like you two were destined to be together."
Lucy's blush deepened. "You think so?" She looked down nervously at her twiddling fingers.
Mira nodded fervently. "Absolutely! From what I've heard, high society arranged marriages are nothing but a means to make more money and so there's lots of unhappiness and cheating involved."
Lucy sighed sadly. "It's true. I was terrified to meet my betrothed, I had thought about running away by myself just to get away. I didn't have any openings to leave, so I went along with my father to this strangers house." She placed her hands on the bar top and twisted her ring on her finger. "But then I met Freed." A fond smile was turned up to the invested woman in front of her. "He was actually my age, and very handsome to boot. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw he was a mage. It was almost like..." Her blush returned to her face. "Love at first sight."
Mira reached forward to grab her hands, giving them a squeeze. "You need to have a proper wedding!"
Lucy blinked. "Huh? But we're already married."
Mira rolled her eyes. "And how much fun was that?"
Lucy laughed nervously at the thought of the creepy men and their annoying fathers demanding babies. "It wasn't fun at all."
"Then we'll have a Fairy Tail style wedding! Oh, when should it be? Tomorrow!" Mira clasped her hands together excitedly.
Lucy's eyes nearly bugged out of her head. "That's a little soon. I'll have to discuss it with Freed and see if he wants another wedding. I mean, we don't even have a place yet, we're living with Laxus."
Mira pouted and nodded. "Alright, we won't do it tomorrow." Her eyes then turned hopeful. "Will you make me your maid of honour?"
Lucy smiled and chuckled. "Well, for now you're the only bridesmaid I have, so sure." Her smile widened at the squeal. "Don't get your hopes up, it might not happen for a long time."
Mira sighed. "Fine, but I won't be waiting for more than a year, got it?" She gave the blonde a stern look.
"Sure." Lucy chuckled again.
"So," Mira leaned forward once more, "have you two talked about babies yet?"
Lucy blushed brightly. "Well-"
"Blondie!"
Lucy turned her head to look up at the hulking blonde man standing alone at the top of the stairs. "Coming!" She turned back to Mira and gave her a wave. "I'll be back later." She felt relieved that the conversation ended there. Her and Freed hadn't necessarily talked about having kids, but they also haven't not talked about it. They had talked about how she wanted to have them at her own pace, but that was pretty much it.
Lucy stopped next to Laxus at the top of the stairs and he looked down at her. "Freed just got his mark, time for you to head in next." He turned to start making his way back to the office.
Lucy happily followed after him, excited to get her own mark. In just a few moments, she would be a full fledged mage! She let out a squeak when he suddenly stopped and she bumped into the hulking man. Rubbing at her sore nose, she stepped back. "Why'd you stop?"
Laxus took a deep breath and turned to face her, trying to will away the small blush on his cheeks. He shoved his hand in his pocket before pulling something out. "I saw this in one of the magic shops that Freed and I went to earlier and thought you might want it, or whatever."
Lucy stared up at the embarrassed face of the grumbling man before bringing her eyes down to his open palm. She gasped at the sight of the silver key that laid there. It was Canis Minor. "You got this for me?"
Laxus brought his free hand up to rub the back of his neck, his gaze refusing to meet hers. "Yeah, 's not like I can use it."
She carefully grabbed the key and held it to her chest, a bright smile shot towards him. "Thank you, Laxus." She couldn't help but wrap her arms around his waist in a quick hug.
He clicked his tongue and turned away from her when she pulled back. "Don't mention it."
She placed the key on her ring as she followed him into the office. It was very sweet of him to buy it for her just because he thought she would like it. They entered the office and she had to pause at the man standing on his desk. This is Makarov? He's tiny! She stepped forward and gave a small bow. "Hello, I'm Lucy."
The old man smiled up at her. "Welcome to Fairy Tail, Lucy, it's great to meet you. I have just given Freed his stamp, would you like yours?"
Lucy quickly nodded and stuck out her right hand. "Pink, please." She didn't know why the master suddenly had an amused look, or why she heard Laxus quietly snickering behind her, but she didn't care. Her dream was finally coming true.
Laxus' small snickers finally turned into a laugh as the mark was placed on her skin. "You two really are made for each other!"
Lucy turned to stare at the laughing man, but saw Freed blushing ever so slightly. "What?"
Freed cleared his throat and held up his left hand. "It seems that we had the same idea." He showed off his green guild mark on his left hand.
She looked back down at her right hand, then glanced back up at his hand. "Oh." She let out a small chuckled before reaching forward to grab his marked hand with hers. "You know what they say;" She moved to stand next to him and bumped his hip with hers. "Great minds think alike."
"Laxus, you idiot!"
"Don't yell at me, Blondie, you're supposed to be solving that stupid puzzle on the door!"
"Kinda hard to do that when you keep shocking me with your lightning!"
"I wouldn't be shocking you if you weren't so goddamn slow."
"Well then, Mister Genius, why don't you take a crack at it!"
Freed sighed as he dodged a sword being swung at him while listening to the two blondes argue. This was their first mission; infiltrate an ancient stone hut and retrieve the tomb inside. It was simple enough, it only took them half a day to find it. Everything was going smoothly until a group of dark mages appeared in search of that same book. Lucy had gotten to work on figuring out how to open the door while himself and Laxus fought the mages. It seemed that Laxus was fighting a little too close to Lucy and she ended up receiving some of his attacks. Hence their fight, and Freed's frustration.
They were good friends, and they all knew it, but sometimes they had their spats. They joined the guild a few days ago and Lucy seemed to want to tease Laxus any chance that she got. Laxus always shot right back, of course, and Freed was on the unfortunate end of trying to stop them. He was thankful that they mostly joked around together, but fighting at a time like this was just plain stupid.
Freed grabbed the mage's wrist that was holding the sword, twisting it until the man screamed and dropped the weapon. He stepped back just enough so he could pull his leg back and slam it into the mage's chest. He turned sharply to the arguing pair when the man fell, watching as Laxus shocked someone without paying any attention to them so he could continue his argument with the smaller blonde. He marched his way over and stopped next to them, his arms crossing.
"You're in my way, you're practically taking up the whole fucking clearing with how big you are!" Lucy gestured to him.
"You can't complain about me being in your way when I'm protecting you." Laxus glared.
"Then protect me at a farther distance! It's hard to even read this thing without one of your lightning bolts being shot up my ass."
"I can shoot them in your fuckin' eyes next, you little-"
"That is quite enough." Freed huffed, the two blondes turning to look at him. "Did you forget that we are on a mission? We have finished off the mages that ambushed us, but we do not know if more of them will appear. Please contain yourselves."
Lucy felt her shoulders sag at the annoyed look on his face. She stepped forward and wrapped her arms around his waist, looking up into his averted eyes. "I'm sorry if I upset you, Freed." She batted her eyelashes, already knowing that he wouldn't stay mad at her for long.
The Rune Mage took a deep breath before patting her on the head. "It is alright, I only feared for your safety as it can be quite dangerous to distract yourself on the battlefield." He had to will away his blush as her exposed cleavage pressed against him. He was still trying to get used to the revealing clothes, the first time he saw her will forever be burned into his memory.
Freed was waiting patiently in Laxus' living room for the two blondes to finish getting ready. They were supposed to go looking for a place for himself and Lucy to rent. He lifted his head when he heard a door open and felt his jaw drop at the sight. Lucy sashaying her way over to him in a tight pink tank top and a very short back skirt with a brown belt to secure her keys at her hip. He could see her trying to force down a smirk at his brightly flushed face and his mouth felt incredibly dry. "L-Lucy,"
Lucy giggled and placed her hands on his chest, flashing him a slightly sultry smile. "Yes, Love?"
Freed swallowed when he felt the air get stuck in his throat. "That is quite an o-outfit."
She tilted her head innocently. "You don't like it?"
He quickly shook his head. "It is lovely, I was just surprised to see you so... exposed."
She shrugged. "It makes me feel like I can finally see myself."
His heart squeezed at her statement and he gave her a swift kiss on the lips. "And you are a beautiful sight to behold."
Lucy blushed and leaned up to give him another kiss, but before their lips met, she was interrupted.
"Holy shit, Blondie, where are your clothes?!"
She whirled around and glared. "Up your ass!"
Freed sighed, and there they go again.
She grinned and pulled away, giving Laxus a smack on the shoulder. "All better, no more grumpy man." She turned and made her way back over to the door to finish reading the scripture on it.
Laxus raised an eyebrow at his green haired partner. "She's got you wrapped around her finger."
Freed blushed slightly and looked away from Laxus. "That is not true, I just do not see the need to stay mad at her if she realizes her mistake."
"Whatever you say." Laxus chuckled, watching as Lucy excitedly pulled a rock from a slot and placed it in a different one. Laxus wasn't the best at puzzle solving, so it made it a lot easier for him that she was pretty clever. Freed was also very intelligent, and he was a great planner. It made his life just a bit easier by having two smart cookies on his team.
The couple was still living with Laxus since they haven't had any luck in finding a good place to rent. Everywhere was so expensive, and the Fairy Tail dorms didn't have any unisex buildings. They had a couple more buildings to check for prices, but decided to take a quick break by trying out their first mission. It only paid ten thousand jewel that would be split between the three of them, but they had to start somewhere.
"Got it!" Lucy waved at them excitedly.
Laxus smirked and made his way towards the hut, Freed following behind. "Nice work, Blondie." He held up his hand.
She gave him a cheeky smile and high-fived him. "Thanks!"
Freed had no idea how their moods could change so drastically in such a short amount of time, but he was just glad that they weren't fighting. He followed behind Lucy when she entered the stone hut, Laxus just behind himself. He glanced around the darkened room in slight awe. It was covered in ancient script and moss, and it was so fascinating to him. He ran his fingers along the wall as Lucy and Laxus made their way to the stone in the middle of the room with the tomb on it. He could make out a few words here and there since his father had a book about this language in his library. Ra moa shunbuu, do not touch. Oh dear. Freed turned sharply to the two blondes, but before he could say anything, Lucy had picked up the book.
The hut started to shake and Lucy clutched the book to her chest. "Are you kidding me?" She groaned. The floor suddenly caved in and they all screamed as they started falling. She looked down with the book still held tightly to herself and saw darkness below. The smell of salt water hit her nose and she quickly held her breath just before they all splashed into the water. Kicking her legs to bring her to the surface, she let out a gasp when her head rose above the water. "Are you guys okay?" She called. She couldn't see a thing, it was so dark.
"I'm good." Laxus coughed.
Freed wiped the water from his face. "I am alright."
"Damn, it's so dark." Lucy tried to squint to see anything. "Freed, use your Dark Écriture."
"Why?" Freed asked, confused as to how it would help when he couldn't see a thing.
Lucy grinned. "Maybe your eye will glow bright enough for us to see."
Freed sighed in defeat when he heard both blondes start cackling. He decided to swim towards the laugh that sounded closest to himself so they could at least try and stay together. He let out a soft grunt when he bumped in to something. "Sorry, Laxus." It felt large enough to be the Lighting Mage.
"For what?" Laxus asked, his laughter dying down.
"I accidentally bumped into you." Freed said, moving his hands around to try and feel for the other man.
"No you didn't." Laxus furrowed his brows.
There was a deep rumbling heard and Lucy used that as her queue to pull out a golden key, sending just enough magic into it to make it shine, but not summon a spirit. She could finally see her two partners and smiled while swimming over to Freed. "That's bett... er." Her shoulder slumped when her gaze travelled up to see the giant fish monster in front of them.
Freed gasped at the sight when light finally filled the room, and he started slowly swimming backwards. He had never seen a creature so big, and he didn't know what to do.
"Freed, grab Blondie and fly up!" Laxus called quickly when the fish-thing let out a roar.
Freed didn't question him, his eye glowing as he quickly wrote his wings. He flew up before diving back down to scoop up the wide-eyed blonde, her key grasped tightly between her fingers to keep the light shining. "We are out!" He shouted when he flew them both up high in the air.
Laxus sucked in a breath, building up his magic in his throat. "Lightning Dragon's; Roar!" He yelled, sending the burst of magic at it.
The room filled with light as the lightning coursed through the air and water and shocked the fish. It let out another roar as smoke started coming from it before it went limp in the water.
Lucy stared wide eyed as the huge burst of magic left the blonde man below. What was a Lightning Dragon? She thought he was just a regular Lightning Mage. They started descending towards the rock surface below, and she watched as Laxus swam towards where they would land. Her feet hit the ground and Freed's arms left her so she could move around. When Laxus reached the rock so he could climb out of the water, she quickly made her way over to him. "What was that magic?"
Laxus sighed. "Guess there's no getting passed you." He pulled his dripping coat off of his shoulders so he could squeeze the water out. "I'm a Dragon Slayer, but you can't tell anyone. There's only so many attacks I can do that aren't Dragon Slayer related, and that thing was too big to not use it." He didn't want the guild to go into an uproar about him being a Dragon Slayer, and the last thing he wanted was for Natsu to be all over him about it.
Lucy tilted her head. "What's a Dragon Slayer?"
"Just as it sounds." He shrugs. "It's magic meant for killing dragons." When her eyes widened, he smirked at her. "So you better watch what you say, Missy, because if I can kill a dragon, I sure as hell can do a lot of damage to a little Blondie."
Freed placed a hand on her lower back. "It also gives him the quality of a dragon. He has advanced hearing, smell, and eyesight."
Lucy placed a hand on her chin in thought. That magic sounded extremely useful, and super cool too. But, she couldn't help herself when she said; "Just like a dog." She pointed out innocently.
Laxus blanched and Freed pressed his lips together to stop his amusement from passing. "His senses are more advanced than a dog, My Dear."
Lucy hummed. "Well, he's called the Thunder God right? God spelled backwards is dog." She cackled when Laxus growled before chasing after her, her laugher only getting louder as she ran away.
Freed sighed and shook his head. They were never going to escape the cave at this rate. He supposed he could write some light runes for the time being while he waited for them to finish. It was hard to see anything with Lucy's key being the only light source while she was running around. He pulled out his sword and pointed it at the ground. As he started to write them, he heard a loud squeal behind him, assuming that Laxus had finally captured Lucy. He ignored her cries for help while he wrote the last part of the runes, it was her own fault after all. The room suddenly filled with light and he stepped away to admire his work. He was starting to get the hang of them after his successful attempt to make them invisible.
"Laxus, stop, I'm gonna peeee!" She laughed harder as he tickled her sides.
He grinned down at her. "I'm not a dog, Blondie. Take it back." He was sat on top of her to pin her down as he tickled her. He pulled his hands back in order to let her apologize.
Lucy panted, her key losing its light. "Don't you bark orders at me." She cried out in laughter again when his hands started their torture once more.
Freed finally turned around and made his way to the pair, shaking his head. "We need to find a way to escape this cave." When they both ignored him, he pinched the bridge of his nose. He would just look around for a way out while he waited for their little spat to finish. Turning once more, he started his search for a way out by himself.
An hour later and the trio finally made their way out of the cave, Freed mentally and magically drained. The two blondes had argued and teased each other the whole time, and he didn't know if he could take it any longer. They were like siblings and he was the exhausted father.
"Freedom!" Lucy shouted happily, stretching her arms in the air as she took a deep breath.
"Did you make sure to grab the book?" Laxus asked as he glanced around the unfamiliar surroundings.
"Yep!" Lucy reached into her bag and pulled out the tomb. "Ta-da!" She grinned.
Freed cringed as he watched the small droplets of water leak from the pages. "I do hope that our client is not angry that the book is wet."
Laxus shrugs and sniffs the air, finding the scent of their previous enemies and heading in that direction. It was the only clue they had to find their way out of the forest. "We'll find out."
The couple followed a few steps behind him and Lucy slid her hand into Freed's. "That was a fun mission." She smiles up at him.
"It was most definitely a mission." He sighs, squeezing her hand. "I am quite exhausted."
She hummed happily and swung their clasped hands as they followed behind the hulking man. "I can't wait until we get our own place." She beamed up at him. "We've never had any real alone time before, so it'll be nice to relax in the quiet."
Freed blushed lightly at the idea of him and Lucy being truly alone. "Yes, it will be lovely." He smiles back at her.
"Oh great." Laxus sighed suddenly.
"What is it?" Freed asks, slightly alerted. Were they going to be ambushed again?
"We found our way back to the hut, but there's an annoying bastard there. Let's try and avoid him." The Lightning Mage grumbled.
Lucy wondered who it could be. Clearly it was someone he knew, maybe from the guild? He called everyone annoying there so she had no idea. Maybe the real Salamander! She hadn't met him yet, but she really wanted to.
"Cool! Is that Laxus Dreyar?!"
"Fuck, he saw us." Laxus huffed as the blonde man came running at them. "We're busy, so no interviews. Why the hell are you even out here?" He glared down at the shorter blonde man.
"I heard that this hut was cursed, so I wanted to get some shots!" He held up his camera excitedly. "I never thought I would catch the Laxus Dreyer out on a mission! Cool!" His gaze moves to the side to the couple behind him, a confused man with green hair and an excited looking blonde woman. "Are these your new partners?! Who are they? Are they new? Is the solo mage Laxus finally starting a team?! Are you-"
"Would you slow the fuck down?" Laxus growls in annoyance. "They just joined a couple days ago, and yes they're my team. Now leave us alone." He stomped passed the reporter.
"You gotta let me take some pictures, please!" Jason dramatically fell to his knees.
Lucy let go of Freed's hand and walked over to the trembling man on the ground. "You're Jason, right? The reporter for Sorcerer's Weekly?" She beamed at him, her eyes practically sparkling.
He looked up to the smiling blonde and nodded. "The one and only! Can I ask your name? How long have you known Laxus?" He pulls a notepad and pen from his back pocket.
"My name is Lucy, and behind me is my husband, Freed." She motions to the man behind her. "I've known Laxus for about a month and a half, but Freed has known him longer."
Jason nods fervently and scribbles down her words. "Does Laxus feel like a third wheel?"
"I do fucking NOT!" Laxus shouted from his place by the hut.
"Can I take some pictures?" Jason excitedly holds up his camera once more.
"Yes!" Lucy says, just as excited. She skips back over to Freed and wraps her arms around his right one. "How should we pose?" She brushed her hair away from her face.
"Just like that!" He snapped a few shots from different angles. "Cool!" He grinned widely.
"Come take a picture with us, Grumpy Pants!" Lucy yells to the grumbling Lightning Mage.
"No way in hell." He huffed.
"Please, just one!" Lucy pleads. When he ignores her, she pouts. "I'll make you steak tonight." Freed had told her before that it was his favourite, so she hoped it would work. A wide smile split her face when he started making his way over to them.
"Just one." He grumbled, stopping next to Freed on his left side.
"Yay!" She cheered, giving the camera her best smile.
Freed stayed silent as Lucy happily talked with the reporter. He didn't particularly like photos, but if it made his wife happy then he would endure it. If he remembered correctly, Sorcerer's Weekly was a popular magazine amongst mages and people who admired them. He had never taken the time to read one, but he knew that they were Lucy's favourite. It was probably a dream come true for her to be put in the magazine. Looking down at her, he felt his heart flutter at the sight of her beautiful smile. He wanted to protect that smile at all costs, and he wanted to be the one to make them appear everyday.
He would do anything for her.
I'm not super in love with how this chapter turned out, but that's okay! And fret not, things will pick up very soon!
Thanks for reading, My Lovlies!
