CLAIREMBER 2022
Day 15 - Umbrella

Claire was laughing harder than she had in five long years.

The reporter was saying, "Umbrella's founder and CEO, Ozwell E. Spencer, had this to say about the decision to permanently close the pharmaceutical giant's doors: 'Thank you to all our loyal customers, especially those who kept faith and stood by us in the face of baseless rumors that blamed our company for the terrible tragedy that happened in Raccoon City five years ago…"

Claire laughed and laughed and laughed – laughed so hard that she was crying. But they weren't tears of sadness for once. They were tears of joy – pure, unrestrained joy.

"Due to the indefinite suspension of business decree that the US government imposed on the company last year, many economists predicted that bankruptcy was inevitable," said the reporter. "The company announced it will liquidate its remaining assets. Tricell and WillPharma, once Umbrella's rivals, have both submitted a bid for the closing company's headquarters in Paris, France."

Wiping the tears from her eyes but still laughing, Claire called Chris, Barry, Jill, and Leon. All of their lines were busy. They were probably on the phone with each other, laughing and celebrating just like she was. Elza wasn't answering either. Since she couldn't get through to them, she'd celebrate with an old friend from college: a cheery fellow by the name of Jack Daniels.

She grabbed her coat and headed to the nearest bar.
