The scrawny man walked through the parking lot, and into the building with gelled up hair, and a nice grey turtleneck, with ironed out pants, and glistening shoes. Dave did not know how things would go down today, and revisiting the darkest place in his life was not something he was ever expecting to do.
Josh saw the door open to reveal Dave, and he couldn't help but smile, though the intention of that smile is unknown, "Hi Dave, it's nice to see you. Finally someone from your cast who is relevant."
"That's reassuring... I think," he commented with doubt in his voice, while shaking his hand. He sat down, and immediately started sanitizing his hand, and the desk in front of him, "I'm really not looking forward to this. I took my anxiety medicine already this morning, so I won't have a meltdown. It's all so embarrassing."
"Don't worry, we're going to start with an easy... ish one, and we're going by the alphabet, so Amy is first," he eased, handing a picture of the blonde to Dave. "Apparently you two became friends at some point. How in the HELL did that happen?"
Dave let out a rare chuckle, "Yes, Amy and I are friends, since it's such a weird thing that I'm still kind of confused how it happened. We literally never spoke while we were in the game, but when I was eliminated, I was VERY depressed, and I started to think of the world differently. No one wanted to speak to me, and there were many people who felt like I deserved it, but I was not interested in fighting with people. Shockingly, Amy came up to talk to me about everything, though I'm sure her initial impressions was to be nosy. I told her everything that happened, and she gave me some tough love, with how I should have used her back, and to never let anyone play me. We were very cynical together, and it was nice to have someone like that to vent to, and I knew everyone else hated her but Topher. She really helped me get over Sky, and I appreciated Amy for that, since she didn't need to do that."
Josh was very intrigued, "So how were things after the season finished, and you all went on with your regular lives?"
"What no one knows is that everyone else but Jasmine and I went on some sort of blip to celebrate the end of filming, especially since Chris did not want them in the finale. Luckily, the blip came to Pahkitew Island, after I had been left by the others, so they picked me up, and everyone saw my bald head, and me in the midst of a breakdown. She asked me what happened, and I explained... everything. EVERYONE INSTANTLY turned on me, and were attacking me from every corner, and she stopped everyone from causing another ambush, and told me that I dropped everything to have a chance with Sky, and that I need to embrace this new me. I felt like I was about to be jumped physically, that's the vibe I was getting from everyone. Whenever the cast would do events, we would kind of stay together because most of the cast and the audience hated us, and we kept communicating through social media over the next few years. I would check on her and help her throughout the next few years, but as the novelty for the show has worn off, we kind of went our separate ways. I do think she was jealous when some people from the cast started talking to me again, but there was no drama or conflict."
"From what was on the show, you and Beardo did not get along, but from what we were told, things were A LOT worse than what was shown, and it involved some sort of race baiting or whatever," he tried to explain, while still being confused on it himself. "What is your perspective on it?"
He groaned in misery, "Beardo's a crappy person. He claimed that I threw out racial slurs, which I did not do, since I apparently claimed that he and Leonard were lazy, and were a result of the crack epidemic. One, Leonard is A LOT of things, but he is not lazy. I wanted him to STOP being active, since our team would have done better. Beardo did look dirty, because he wore a dirty shirt that had stains on it... I am a HUGE germaphobe, and I expressed that. So not only did he lie about what I stated, but then he claimed my germaphobia was about racism, and then he claimed I was a whitewashed Indian because I didn't have a turban, and I didn't have an accent. It got VERY ugly because he lied about me being racist, threw out racist sentiment my way, and then tried to paint me as a racist to get me voted out. After I was eliminated, he tried starting drama with me AGAIN because I had A FEW people talking to me at the resort, when he wanted EVERYONE to ignore me. I did apologize to him for the situation that happened in the first episode, but he refused to apologize to me. When we went to Australia a year or two later, we agreed to let bygones be bygones, though there were a series of arguments that lead up to us making some sort of peace, which was just rehashing the same crap we rehashed over and over again, though THIS TIME, we were mad that the other put those issues out publicly."
"So, I was always so confused about you and Ella, especially with how the two of you CONVENIENTLY got close, though you paid her absolute dust during the season," Josh questioned with a quizzical tone in his voice.
He was about to chuckle, but he stopped himself. A sigh was about to come out of his mouth, but he then decided to smile, "Ella is... someone that I kind of misjudged at first. She was mainly around Leonard for the first two weeks, and then she thought that she was a Disney Princess, or at least that was my impression. It was just too much dealing with all of these weirdos, and it seemed like she encouraged it a lot of the time. But once he left, I started seeing that she is a bit more down-to-earth than I thought she was. Ella looked in the good all the time, didn't let anyone get her down, and she actually has a... depressing backstory that I promised to not reveal. We were starting to become friends, and I did feel bad for her with how Sugar treated her, but Ella... took it the wrong way, and I didn't even realize it until everything was said and done."
Josh rolled his eyes, "So you didn't realize the way she was throwing herself at you. When she was heartbroken, you didn't even care whatsoever, and then the two of you ended up dating after the show? It seems like you used her as a rebound."
"No, that's not how it was... I never saw her as a rebound. I realized that she liked me when she was eliminated, and I tend to be oblivious about certain social queues, so when she ran away crying, which was shown on the episode, I had no idea what she was referring to. When I was eliminated, she was still heartbroken, so we did not speak immediately. We did finally speak, and I apologized to her for any confused feelings, and for seeing her as a bit weird in the beginning. Ella and I did have fun together during our time in the resort, and when the finale happened, she was one of the few who spoke to me. I was so lonely, and she was going through the confusion of love, lust, and infatuation at once, so when we saw one another during the premiere, we did kiss. I REALLY REALLY liked it, and I was shocked. The same giddy feeling I had about Sky was showing up, but for Ella. At the same time, I didn't want to rush things like I did with Sky, and the show was AIRING once Ella and I started getting closer."
He was still skeptical, "It honestly seems like you used her as an emotional and physical rebound, so you could force yourself to get over Sky. When was the exact date where the two of you became official? And have you been on good terms with her since your breakup?"
He squirmed at Josh's words and presentation, "Using her as a rebound... I don't see it like that. Ella was one of the only people who were able to look past some of my actions, and the smoke regarding my reputation, and got to know me. She is also VERY cleanly, so we did bond over that. We went official a few months after the season aired, so some of the novelty of the show, and everything that came from it wore off. We did go on a date with Amy and Topher, where the two of us had a good time. She knew there was a part of me that still... was harboring about having no interaction with Sky, and her music career was blowing up a lot, so we were not spending time together. What people don't realize is that people like Ella need to refuel after dealing with people, and giving all of their positivity to people, so I think we got drained of one another. A part of me still wasn't over Sky, but I knew I could never fulfil Ella as much as she wants, and she can't fulfil me in the way I want either. We are still good friends, and speak through the phone or social media here and there. No bad blood, bitterness, or madness between us."
Josh grabbed another picture, "Alright we are going to move onto Jasmine. Despite your relationships with Shawn and Sky getting the most focus in the season, I don't necessarily remember you two having any sort of interaction, despite the four of you being the most relevant in the season. I am sure there were some, especially when you two appeared in the finale."
"Jasmine and I never really spoke that much, and I didn't realize all of the stuff she did that affected our relationship, like her sexist rants about men in general. Even from my experience with her on the show, she seemed like a dour, miserable, hypocritical person on the show. Jasmine talked all about peace, prosperity, and all of that, but she was one of the biggest gossips in the entire cast, which says something. She did not like Shawn and I hanging out throughout the season, and I confronted her as to why she has an issue with me, which happened way before I started going crazy, at least to some people. Jasmine had nothing to say, and claimed that I was sexist, while dealing with several "nice guys" like me. There was this... venom in her voice and in her eyes, so it was getting heated, so we went our separate ways. I remember being on the blip with her as we made it to the finale, and she was SO DELUSIONAL about the state of her relationship with Shawn, and none of you even saw the half of it."
"Ooh, PLEASE spill! I knew that there was something else to Jasmine's sudden switch mid-season, and then their revamped image since the season ended, to cover their messiness. MORE, MORE, MORE," the interviewer demanded like a mad man.
Dave kind of got creeped out, "Uh... don't do that. I took an anxiety pill this morning, and your... neediness will cause it to come back. From the beginning of the season, Shawn told me all of the reasons why he's afraid of zombies, and there's A LOT of trauma there, from his past experiences. From what he told me, Jasmine laughed off his trauma, and thought he was playing a trick on her, so Jasmine got mad at him at the water challenge because she realized that he was not joking, and she looked like a fool. Even when we were arriving in the finale, she thought they were going to move in right away, how they were going to split the money, and how he would propose to her when she turned 18, how she wanted to have 2 children by the time she was 20, so on and so forth. Shawn WAS NOT interested in a relationship with Jasmine, even though he liked her. I did not deal with Shawn much for a year or two, but when we did TD events, we would look at one another, as some sort of acknowledgement, but Jasmine would always force him out of it. Jasmine did not want us to speak, and it wasn't until Shawn got REALLY FED UP with her and Samey, where he ignored her advice, and reached out to me. We talked over everything, forgave one another, and it was just really nice for the both of us to be in our lives again. Of course Jasmine tried to pick fights with me, and I told her that she should leave me alone, since I know A LOT more about how she treats Shawn and Samey that the public, and most of our cast don't know about."
"Alright, so we know that you and Leonard hate one another, and we saw that all throughout the show. I want to hear your side as to why you vehemently hated him so much, and if it continued after the show?" He went to hand the picture of the wizard, only for Dave to immediately block it, which caused him to laugh.
He refused to take the picture, and even scurried back from it, "UGH, HE'S AWFUL. Looking at his picture just GIVES ME HIVES. Nothing that nincompoop said made sense, and he LITERALLY SAID THAT HE WAS A WIZARD. At first, I thought he was joking, but Leonard went on and on about some spells, and he acted like LARPing wasn't a thing. He had a lot of jitters, and I did a study in school the year before that some children who were born to drug addicted parents, especially the mother during pregnancy end up having jitters, and some like-minded symptoms. Leonard wouldn't look people in the eye, and his jaw would do this weird thing. EVERYONE in the cast was talking about it, and there were some discussion about him having crackhead parents amongst the cast. I just asked him if that was the case, to explain some of his antics, but he LOST IT ON ME. He called me every name in the book, and then ASSAULTED ME, though this happened RIGHT AFTER Beardo stirred the pot with his antics, and we sent Beardo home. It was a HUGE brawl, and the entire team had to separate us. After that, I made fun of his magic shit right in front of him, and told him to get off the psychedelic pills he was on, but people thought I was going too hard at him. At that point, I decided to let him hang himself, and he hung himself out of the game."
Josh was just glistening in delight from the revelation, "Ooh, that is so juicy, but you can't blame him for being upset about being called a crack baby. You're lucky that popping you was the ONLY thing he did to be honest. Anyways, how were things like when you arrived to the resort?"
"I tried avoiding him for as long as possible, since many things happened since he was eliminated, and I was trying to get over the mess with Sky. Apparently Beardo and Leonard became BFFs somewhere along the line, and NOT ONLY were they REALLY hamming it up, but they were doing it to PISS ME OFF. I ignored it, and Beardo eventually came to an understanding with me, but Leonard was making snide comment after snide comment. He wanted to pull another magic trick, and after making fun of me for what happened to Sky, he asked me for my turban to be able to pull off a spell better. I told him that I don't have one, he said that most Indian people do, saying that I was not a "proper Indian person", and then we got physical AGAIN. My last dealing with him came up after he filmed the spinoff, and I was asked in several interviews about how I thought it was a farce that he was chosen, and how the network encourages delusional people, so when the cast met up, he tried to make it a whole thing, and threw in some jabs about me and Ella, since his relationship with Sugar went downhill, and wanted Ella, who was not interested."
Another picture was grabbed and placed on the table, "So I personally think that the worst casting choice of them all was Max, which says a lot, since your cast was beyond atrocious, which I am sure you would agree with. What are your thoughts on him overall?"
All he did was groan in anger, "Another one who I thought was a drug baby, or was dropped on his head way too many times as a baby, but he was also painfully manufactured as well. Thankfully, we did not speak a whole lot during the season, since his obsession with being evil, and CHOOSING to NOT ONLY dye his hair purple, but bleach his skin, and ADD WHITE PAINT ON HIS SKIN was creepy as hell. Everyone in the cast was questioning whether he was hooking up with Scarlett, and I knew that he had some softness in there, so I advised him that I could help the relationship... blossom of some sorts. Max WENT OFF on me, and said that everyone knew Sky didn't like my scrawny ass, especially with her being the man in the relationship, and me being the woman. After that, I told him to snort the coke his mother was on when she was pregnant with him, mentioning that even Leonard was more evil than him. I remember when he was eliminated, all he did was run away from Scarlett, and I saw how evil she REALLY was, as he was scared shitless of her. We ended up making up during our last week at the resort, and were able to be okay whenever the cast got together, but we've never had much of a relationship."
"Rodney was an early boot on your season, and he was not on Team Maskwak, so I'm sure you didn't interact with him a whole lot."
"Because I didn't speak to him. He was not interested in speaking to any man other than Topher, and that was because he wanted to look like Topher to win over the ladies. All of the guys would try to speak and get to know him, but he blew us ALL off in quite a rude way. A lot of the women felt uncomfortable with Rodney's presence, and it was even worse because he could barely speak English as it is, but he would stumble and mumble whenever he would attempt to flirt with the girls. And outside of that, he REALLY HATED Shawn because Shawn was able to get Jasmine's interest. The two would get into arguments throughout the season, and I would always defend Shawn, because he did NOTHING to Rodney. He would get at me for defending my friend at the time, and he only got worse as the years went on. Amy would try to get us to be on decent ground, but he even fell out with her once he started speaking to Scarlett. Rodney got a VERY NICE edit, that's all I'm going to say."
Josh grabbed another picture, and gave it to him, "So we know that you're on good terms with Amy, so how do you feel about her twin sister Samantha? It seems like everyone hated her more than Amy, though she was the evil one."
Dave looked at her picture, and had a confused look on her face, "I didn't think of her, but from what I saw of her, she was all over the place, and very inconsistent. In my opinion, it seemed like everyone on the cast knew what Amy was, as she was very transparent, but Samey put on several faces, and it threw off a lot of people off. A lot of things she said made no sense, and I didn't know either of the twins while in the game, so I didn't know the entire situation. With that in mind, I could see why Samey was technically voted out first. My thing with her is that she tried to start arguments with me about what Jasmine did towards Sky and I's relationship while we were in the elimination resort, and she shouldn't have gotten involved, especially with her being mad that Topher liked Amy more than her."
"That brings up an interesting point, that's been somewhat of a theme in the interviews so far. Samey, Amy, and Topher had this uncomfortable triangle that was edited out of the show, and carried until recent years. In addition to Shawn not being very comfortable with Jasmine's friendship with her over the years... or relationship, depending on who is talking," Josh spoke, hoping to incite more of a reaction from Dave. "What do you know about her in regard to this?"
He started to chuckle, "People are gonna be mad at this. I would see how Samey got mad whenever Amy and Topher would hang out. I remember Ella and I meeting up with them, and the look on her face showed so much hatred, envy, vindictiveness, and bitterness when we went to Amy's house, and Samey opened the door. It reminded me of how Jasmine was in the middle of our season. And the thing is, Shawn would tell me stuff about how both of them had those VERY DARK moments, and how they badly influenced one another when we made up. He vented to me about how they would side against him in conversations and arguments, to the point that he felt like he was in a three-way relationship, and that the two of them would hook up without him. I started coming around again, and I defended him, which REALLY pissed her off. If she could defend Jasmine, and get involved in their issues, why the HELL couldn't I defend Shawn? She hated that Shawn had a defense, and got his power back."
A huge smile crept on his face, "Wow that was SURE JUICY. I'm glad someone broke off the façade that those three pulled on social media. Anyways, Scarlett the psychopath is next. What were your experiences with her like?"
"Thankfully I didn't deal with her a whole lot, but I did think she and Max were hooking up. They both got such a thrill in talking to one another, and neither one of them were interested in speaking to really anyone else on the cast. Everything Scarlett said was very rehearsed and calculated, so while I didn't think she was evil incarnate, I didn't buy her neutral act. She would give me these glares when I would ask about her and Max's relationship, but she did predict that something was off with Sky, so I guess I have her to thank for that. Never dealt with her after being eliminated, since after she was shot out of the cannon, she was sequestered and analyzed by a psychologist for the rest of the time. Interestingly enough, she DID contact me when she was in some psych ward, since she heard about my... "turn to evil", as some would say."
"Really? What came of that?" Josh asked inquisitively.
Dave shrugged his shoulders, "Nothing came from it, since I didn't want anything to do with her. I had no interest in becoming her evil sidekick, I had no interest in bailing her out of her psych ward, prison, or whatever it was, and I had no interest in getting her dirt on the cast years later. Ultimately, she had Rodney do all of that, and she doesn't take rejection well, so long story short, she tried to make my life as miserable as possible."
The interviewer went through the last few pictures, and handed one to him, "We are going to save Sky for last, and move onto the only person that we were shown you actually respecting somewhat on the show in Shawn... before you screwed that up, and tried to kill him."
Immediate frustration showed up, and he slammed his hand on the table, "I DID NOT TRY TO KILL ANYONE, for GOODNESS SAKES. I am SO TIRED of people spreading that narrative. Anyways, Shawn was the only guy on the team, outside of myself who was actually useful in challenges, trying to find us a shelter, and finding our own food, so I did have some respect for him. At the same time, he always isolated himself, would have these random ticks, and would go on these walks for long periods of times. I thought he was doing a bunch of cultural rituals for the first few weeks, but it ended up being to curb him from zombies. What they didn't show was that he told me that he and his family were... attacked and harassed by people dressed as zombies when he was little. He told me A LOT of graphic details, and it's... horrendous, and they couldn't air it, but they made it seem like a horrible gimmick. I made a promise to him not to tell anyone how deep his trauma is, and all of the details that comes with it."
"But you used his so-called zombie trauma to your advantage, and in order for him to complete the challenge, which started the downfall of his relationship with Jasmine," Josh brought up as a reminder. "It did not seem like you were concerned about his safety, and you always ignored his advice. I see why things fell apart as the season ended."
"In hindsight, I should have listened to Shawn with certain things. At the same time, I found his relationship with Jasmine to be confusing as well, so I didn't think he should be the one giving advice. Shawn told me that he liked Jasmine, but he didn't see himself being in a relationship with her, especially long-term, and he was mentioning Jasmine telling him some long-term plans about what they would do outside of the game, which was very creepy. I remember being so depressed from the last few weeks, especially with Jasmine influencing Sky to treat me weirdly, so I wanted to quit. Shawn did try to cheer me up, and I did appreciate it, but I noticed an IMEMDIATE shift after they made up, which was a few hours before my boot. It was like all of the advice he gave to me about being strong, not being lead or forced to cater towards a woman who is selfish, and all of that. But during that little time, and even in the finale, he did that, and treated me HORRIBLY in the finale. By the time my meltdown happened, I just... saw anger, and I didn't care about who I was hurting, which was really scary. He did not speak to me for a few years, and I did not speak to him for a few years. I was stubborn, especially with seeing how he changed his ENTIRE persona once he and Jasmine got together, and was portraying their relationship as perfect."
Josh saw the pain and anguish in his face, "You still seem very... affected by it, still after all of these years, despite the two of you getting better, from what was discussed earlier. What was the process like?"
Dave tried his best to not show any sense of anger or hurt, "I was annoyed that they left me behind on the island, where a bear almost attacked me. After that, I was DONE, and NONE of the three finalists checked on me, though I always checked on Shawn whenever he was in precarious situations. I knew from the stuff he told me on the island that him and Jasmine were having issues, and I heard of the stuff that they would fight about over the years, mainly from Amy and Topher. The alleged lesbian rumors and the tag teaming was stuff that we all saw at cast events, and stuff that I was told. When the spinoff was filming, the sole conversation I asked him was if he was okay, and how his relationship was going. His face was so distressed, panicked, and said it all, but gave me a fake "we're fine". Over the years, he felt isolated, alienated, ganged up on, and was tired of the facade, and they broke up a few times, but their social media never showed it. He reached out to me, and I reached back out to me, and we both apologized through several conversations. Shawn told me that he was so lonely and miserable in his life, and that he felt like ignoring me would make his relationship better, but it wasn't. We started slowly talking and hanging out again, and this happened like 4 years ago. Jasmine got REALLY MAD that we started talking again, and he told me about her and Samey's affair. We would go on boys trips, he would stay at my house for days and weeks at times, and all of that. But despite everything, he would NOT leave Jasmine. It was nice for him to be back in my life again, and to be back in his again."
He looked at the next picture, and got grossed out before handing it to Dave, "Out of everyone I've seen on the show, Sugar is EASILY the scariest-looking one I have seen. How in the hell have you dealt with her for most of the season?"
The man pretended to have a seizure, and fell over on the table. His antics took over a minute to get over, and he came back laughing, "Sorry about that, but that is how Sugar makes me feel. When the season first started, she LOATHED AND TORTURED ME because Leonard and I did not get along, and she was one of the few who were spreading the propaganda against me. After Leonard was rightfully sent home, she started YELLING at Ella and I because she tried to get Ella booted, and she blamed me for spreading lies about Leonard to get him out. I told her that she's jealous that Leonard is still more interested in Ella, despite Sugar throwing herself at him. When I mentioned that, Sugar THROTTLED herself at me, and started punching me. Half of the cast had to rip her off me, and she's been out for me ever since. Even outside of that, seeing her eat was the most traumatic event I have ever dealt with in my life, outside of her sticking her fat hands and arm in the monkey's mouth. All of the producers have confirmed that she is more gross than Owen."
"Didn't she try to wedge your relationship with Sky for strategic purposes? You have to give her credit, and some respect for that?" Josh asked, wanting to see how he reacts.
"I don't respect it, because I don't do fake stuff like that, so that tactic wouldn't have worked on me. Also, if she didn't attack me, and made me miserable over an ALLEGED crack baby that wasn't interested in her. And the main reason why she did it was because she thought she was going to be in a showmance, but NO ONE was interested in her. IN FACT, EVERYONE agreed that she was the ugliest person on the cast (inside and outside), so she was mad that Sky and I had something at the time. Things got even worse after the season, because she put her head in Leonard's ass, and forced him to date her, and she was REALLY MAD that NOT ONLY did she get rejected for the spinoff, but because Ella and I were dating, and we were happy. She tried to sabotage SEVERAL opportunities of ours, sent us HORRIBLE DMs, calls, emails, and texts, where she was harassing us, and it got so bad to the point that Ella was getting nightmares. I called Sugar to tell her to back off, and SOMEHOW our phone conversation got leaked. Long story short, it became a legal issue, and I haven't dealt with her since."
Josh looked at the picture, and groaned as he handed it to him, "I don't even know why the hell they cast Topher to be on the show, if he was just going to leech on production, and not deal with the cast. You two were booted back to back, but I wouldn't be shocked if neither one of you spoke."
He looked at the picture, and didn't have a reaction, "You are correct that we had nothing to do with one another. Not because there was a conflict or anything, but he really didn't speak to anyone outside of the producers, the twins, and sometimes Rodney. He would sneak off to go to the producer quarters EVERY SINGLE NIGHT, and even in between challenges. No one knew what to make of that, or his interactions with Chris; whether he was sleeping with Chris and the other producers, since we were told that some from the older generations did, whether he was related to Chris, or whatever else. My point is, my first conversation with Topher was when I went to the elimination reserve, and I was shocked with how much I... didn't hate him. Despite everything I just said, Topher was pretty normal, so we actually got along. He did tell me that while he had an affinity for Chris, he wanted to be a host, and knew a lot of behind the scenes/fourth wall stuff that he tried to use towards his advantage. Apparently Chris approached him during the audition process and claimed that he was his father, and then Topher found out early in the filming process that he wasn't. Him, Amy, and Ella were the only people who did not treat me like complete, utter crap at the resort, and after the season filmed."
"So you did mention going on a few double dates with him after the show. How were things like once the season finished, and you all went to the TD events, up to the present day?"
"I remember going home after the season, and being really depressed, but the thing that bothered me the most was how my hair and scalp were damaged, and unshapen. No matter what hair treatment I bought, or practice I used, NOTHING WAS WORKING. It was really frustrating me, and I don't know how he knew about the issue, but he not only reached out to me about it, but he came over to my house, and helped me get my hair and scalp back by giving me a bunch of products and practices to use. We did go out and hang out a few times with who we were dating, and we had a lot of fun together. As the season aired, we both got a lot of hate, so we got closer due to being misunderstood. After the novelty of the show, and growing up, we kind of went our separate ways, since he was doing the Onlyfans, modeling, and acting stuff, which I wasn't a part of. We stopped talking overall, but I still have some fondness and respect for him."
Josh could not even hide his glee and excitement, as he handed the last picture, "And last but certainly not least is Sky. To be honest, I never really got why the two of you liked one another, since she was athletic, determined, and competitive, while you are lazy, and not ambitious from what were told and shown on the show. It seemed like she was someone that you wanted to possess, rather than love and cherish."
He took a long breath to calm himself down, as her picture was placed in front of him, "It wasn't that simple, but of course the show would never delve into the real reason why we actually bonded. We both talked about the term "Indian", and what it means to us both. Of course she talked about how Native people were called "Indian", and how the Europeans used it as a racial term, and she spoke about her group, and I spoke about my group and my Indian heritage. It was a really enlightening conversation that caused us to gravitate to one another. Sky was so normal, and it was nice to bond with someone else about being one of the few normal people on the cast. What happened was whenever we were doing challenges or anything when we knew that the cameras would be on us, I got freaked out whenever she was around, so I didn't know how to speak to her, and I couldn't live up to her leadership or competitiveness. Earlier on, Sky was inspiring, and helped me relax."
"I remember you and Sky having a conversation about your dreams, where you didn't answer about having one pertaining a career, while she talked about being a gymnast, and you LAUGHED AT HER. That was horrible, and it makes sense that whatever insecurities and doubts she had about you were confirmed at that moment," Josh recalled, with a dark tone in his voice.
Dave shook his head, "I apologized right there to her, and I did not handle that situation well. Her dreams were her dreams, and I should have supported it, no matter how stupid it was. Sky told me several times that she did have feelings about me, but something would always interrupt things, though she could have found the time to tell me about her boyfriend. Sky just mentioned that she wanted to focus on the competition, but if she instead said that she had a boyfriend, I would have left it alone. Sky then let Jasmine get in her head to treat me cruelly because Jasmine was treating Shawn cruelly, and she wanted to follow Jasmine's footsteps. I was COMPLETELY blindsided with her behavior, and it threw me under a tornado. The one person that I thought I could trust and be my comfort zone in this competition did a complete 180, and resented me. And adding onto everyone meddling for their own amusement caused me to want to quit, and it did. Max was the one who told me that Sky did show up to the cannon, but she was a few seconds late, so I thought that we had a chance. And then SHE KISSED ME, WHICH SHE INITIATED! I was the happiest I've been in over a month, and then... I... I'm not gonna talk about the rest. Never in my life did I think I could go to such a dark place."
He did not know how to react to Dave's reddening face that is starting to drip in tears, other than giving him a tissue, "Uh... I was not expecting you to react like this. Anyways... How did you handle dealing with Sky post-season, like during the cast events, as the season was airing, and everything afterwards."
He could not help but continue crying, and start hiccupping, and shaking his hands/arms, "I... She... We didn't speak... for any of the cast events throughout the next few years, and during the season, I blocked her so I didn't have to see any of the constant reminders for what happened between us. Apparently people would tell me that Sky was trying to get more information about Ella and I's relationship, and apparently she was jealous. I did not believe them until I saw it in Australia while the spinoff was being filmed. It bothered her that I moved on to Ella, and while I did kind of like seeing her jealous, I just did not need that energy in my life. Ella and I broke up, and I went 5 years without dealing with Sky, though I did see the audition tape that Sky released, the full version, and... she and Keith were fighting, and he was yelling about breaking up with her on it. I felt bad after that, but I was still so hurt, and didn't want to relive it. Anyways, there was a cast event that happened 2 years ago for the season's 5 year anniversary, and... Sky and I spoke."
Josh saw Dave's cheeks start to blush, and he gave off a wicked grin, "All you two did is talk? It doesn't seem like it. You're turning into a strawberry red. How did all of this come up? You look like you got caught digging into a cookie jar."
"Well... It had been some time, and we all finished school. I feel like a lot of the cast planned this, and was HOPING we would argue after not speaking since the show, but... it was a nice conversation. The awkwardness did take over for a few minutes, but I just had to come out and apologize, and she apologized too. It was clear that she grew up since our time on the show, and she knew I grew up as well. It was nice just talking again, and we hung out THE ENTIRE NIGHT. We decided that we were going to keep in touch, and as we started speaking to one another, the flirting started, a lot more inappropriate stuff happened virtually, and we agreed to... have one night together. A few weeks later, we did... do it, and it... WAS GREAT," Dave eventually squealed in excitement. Hard breathing came out of his mouth, as he tried to calm himself down, and slowly removed the smile on his face, "We... did the deed, and we... did it a few times. After that, we agreed that we are better off not being together, and I don't know where we are today. We haven't spoken much, but there hasn't been any drama either."
He was glad that they were at the end, "So I have a few things to wrap things up with. Have you dealt with anyone from the other two generations? What have you learned from the show? And what have you done since the show up to now?"
Silence was in the room, as the young man thought about but, "I do speak to Noah and Mike, who are my closest friends from the people not on my cast. I have dealt with their friends, like Owen, Cameron, etc, but I would be lying if I said I was close to them. The main thing I learned from the show is that I'm not as normal as I thought I am, and that there was a lot I was holding in, triggers from stuff that happened when I was younger, and it all kind of unleashed when I was on the show, and certain things happened with certain people. After the show, I decided to go to school for Natural Science in University, and it helped me understand more about hygienics, so on and so forth. Long story short, I got my degree, and am currently working for a cleaning company, but I HAVE developed a hand sanitizer and all-purpose cleaning product, so I'm working on a cleaning line."
Josh went to get up to shake Dave's hand, "Thank you for dishing your perspective and the dirt on everything. The interview wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be."
Dave got up, and rejected the hand shake, "I don't do hand shakes, I thought I made that known. Anyways... bye," before making his exit.
