Title: Watch Dog

Rating:G

Note: Thought I write a little drabble about Vincent the dog keeping watch for Walt. There isn't enough attention for Vincent, so I think this might be good to see a dog's perspective of what's going on. Lost is © J.J. Abrams 2004.

Vincent sat down next to his owner, keeping the boy company in the dark cave. The sandy colored dog's instincts were telling him that danger lurked deep in the jungles of this island, but now there is danger among the other humans. Two other people were abducted by a bad human; it could be possible that the boy would be the next bad human's victim.

He touched his nose to the boy's arm as a sign of comfort. Ever since Vincent was a pup, he had been a loyal friend to the boy. Vincent felt that he should stay close to his owner to keep away danger.

The boy's father was also protective, but quite busy with the other humans. It was up to Vincent to protect the boy, whether the danger was beast or man.

"Hey Vince," said the boy, patting the dog's head. "Things have been getting creepy lately, but I'm glad you're here. Ever since Claire and Charlie were taken, everyone has been very cautious."

The boy yawned and stretched his arms. "Perhaps we should sleep, I'm sure my dad and everyone else will be back soon." The boy grabbed his blanket and curled up into sleep.

The dog watched the boy sleep. In these dark hours, a dog would have to keep his ears and eyes open for anything. Being on his guard, Vincent would never let a threat come between him and his friend.
