Only one person remembered Severus Snape's birthday today.
It was Gilderoy Lockhart. He used the one day-release he was allowed for the next six months. He appeared in Snape's office in a flurry of his finest lilac. Snape was in a bad mood already, and Gilderoy knew it. He glided effortlessly over to Snape's desk, leant over it, and planted a kiss on the very tip of his nose. Snape looked at him dryly. "Erm, sorry Sevvie, I couldn't get you a gift…they wouldn't let me out other than today."
Severus Snape burst out laughing.
"Your presence is enough, Gilderoy."
