Chapter 2: Enter Team Rocket
Hello people and welcome to the third instalment of Pokémon Anime Remastered, as we handle the events that make up Episode two of the Pokémon anime. I had intended on this being episodes 2-4 but changed it as I wanted to put extra focus on certain parts. Though, for yous it will be all coming out about the same time anyway. I do hope you enjoyed the previous chapter. Also, as these are being written in advance I won't be able to immediately address any reviews.
Also, while I will decide on partners eventually, I will need to point out, these characters are still children in this story. Meaning, until say the sixth region, they'll be under the age of sixteen. I will not be writing anything sexual. Like at all. That would tarnish the point of my work. Relationships sure, graphic stuff? Nope, not at all.
Though I will say this simply, Ash will NOT be capturing every Pokémon ever, he will capture more than in the anime, but he will see every Pokémon. In the anime, they count "seeing" a Pokémon as recording it properly in the Pokédex, where in the games you must capture it. We're using the anime logic. Plus obviously other characters will get some Pokémon too. But none of Ash's real Pokémon will be given to another person instead unless there's trading or sharing going on.
Oh and a small *Spoiler*, I may have some form of 'Regional Variants' during the Orange Islands portion of this whole story. New variants at that. But that's like a year away so let's put that away for a while.
After Ash, Serena, Lillie and Pikachu survived the flock of attacking Spearow, they ran into a young female whose bike was damaged while trying to escape the 'charm' of Spearow. (A/N: Yes, a group of Spearow, like Sparrow, is called a charm).
In the past few hours, Ash and Serena had received their starters Bulbasaur and Pichu respectively, Ash had caught his first Pokémon, they were swarmed by Spearow, Pichu evolved and they had met Misty. Well… there was something else as well.
"So what can we do about Ash's Spearow that was stolen?" Serena asks as Ash held the small electric rodent in his arms.
"Wait, another Pokémon was stolen?" Misty questions in shock. Of course, she had heard small murmurings in Viridian City earlier the day before about someone having stolen a Pokémon from the world renowned Pokémon professor.
"Yes, I had thrown a Poke Ball at a wild Spearow, it was successful but then some cloud of smoke engulfed the area and the ball was gone. Then we were ambushed by the rest of the flock" the raven-haired boy tells her, feeling frustrated that it was the second Pokémon essentially stolen from him the previous day.
"Well once we get Pikachu to the Pokémon Center, we can also report the theft to an Officer Jenny" Misty tells them with an air of authority.
Meanwhile she is also thinking to herself 'If they've already had a run in with Team Rocket, they may have targets on their backs for the time being. Maybe I should stay with them for now' as she considers her options. She had intentions of doing some traveling after all.
Taking a closer look at the orange-haired female, Serena considers her for a few moments. She seems to be familiar for the young Pokémon trainer. But why? Is she famous? Has to be. A model? A trainer? An athlete? Even some super fisherwoman? Or was she some look-a-like of a famous person?
Before she could voice any of her questions, they're each brought out of their conversations by a green-haired female. She is wearing a fairly short, dark blue skirt, hat and short-sleeved top. On the hat it has red on the top, with a black flap, with a gold insignia at the front. The cuffs of the top are also folded red with a light blue front to the top. She has white gloves with a black belt around her waist and a side attached. Then has black shoes on.
She's coming over with speed. On a motorbike. She stops just next to the fairly scared group. She first notices the bruises and injuries sustained on Pikachu. She hops off her bike and demands "How did you let that poor Pokémon get like that?"
"We were attacked by a group of wild Spearow" Ash responds with concern as he looks towards his friend.
The woman then asks "Were you now? And how do I know you didn't cause this", she points to the electric type "to happen on purpose?" her hands now firmly on her hips as she stares him down.
"Hey!" Serena interjects with fury as she goes on to say "He was trying to catch a Pidgey, a Spearow got in the way. It was captured but then someone stole the Pokéball. Then we were attacked!"
"And can you prove this? Any identification on any of you?" she questions continuing to eye the children in suspicion.
Lillie remembers what the professor had told them before they left. She responds with "Yes, we do, Officer" as she pulls out her Pokédex to present.
Dexter chimes in saying "Hello. My name is Dexter, programmed by the Pokémon Professor, Samuel Oak. This Pokédex is designated to ten year old, Lillie Yvonne. Adopted child of Grace Yvonne, of Pallet Town, Kanto Region. One Pokémon captured, seven Pokémon encountered"
That was interesting, the Pokédex had more information about the Dex Holder than they anticipated. Not only did it list Grace as Lillie's adoptive mother, but their recognised captures and Pokémon encountered. Which also meant that the Professor had registered Nebby as her Pokémon, where it doesn't have an official Pokémon name yet. They weren't even too sure of its type yet either as Nebby doesn't battle and Lillie has been very careful to protect him.
Ash and Serena both present their own Pokédexs as their form of identification also.
Then the officer turns to Misty, saying "And yourself Miss?"
Misty then takes out a badge of some variety, hidden from the view of the others. The officer nods her head and apologizes, explaining "Unfortunately, we have had reported robberies of Pokémon recently. As I am sure yous are aware, Professor Oak was robbed last night of a Pokémon. I needed to make sure yous were no danger to the safety of Viridian City"
Misty responds by saying "So, Officer Jenny, what should we do about Ash's stolen Spearow then?"
"Tell me exactly what happened about Spearow" The officer tells them. They give a recount of the prior day's events. "Smoke? That reinforces my belief that both incidents were perpetrated by Team Rocket" she responds with annoyance.
"Team Rocket?" Ash questions in confusion.
"An evil syndicate, or ruthless gang of thugs who steal Pokémon, rare valuables, and the sort. Their leader is unknown and shrouded in mystery" Misty tells him and the other two females.
This causes Ash to clench his left hand and grind his teeth, as he states "So some petty thieves cost me two Pokémon in the same day? Why don't they just go out and capture their own Pokémon, the fair and legit way?"
Serena looks at him in sympathy as she responds "Some people don't like playing 'fair' Ash. But we'll find your Spearow eventually"
Misty on the other hand is thinking 'That settles it then, I will stay with them for the time being. Maybe I can even find out more information about these recent robberies'
The young boy simply nods his head in frustration and sadness. He is thinking to himself 'So first someone steals the Charmander from Professor Oak that could have been mine, Team Rocket seemingly may have stolen my first capture in Spearow and…' however his thoughts are interrupted as he feels a hand on his left shoulder.
Refocusing, Ash sees that it is Serena. She calmly tells him "We will find out who stole your Spearow and whoever stole the Charmander. Both belong to you after all Ash" as she gives him a smile.
Returning with a weak smile, Ash tells her "I hope you're right Serena. It's just, how do I lose both my potential starter and first Pokémon in less than a day?"
Lillie tells him "It's not your fault Ash, you'll capture more Pokémon, even another Spearow or Charmander too" as she fails to realise how that may come across as 'inappropriate' right now, considering the circumstances.
Misty comments in response "That's not the point Lillie. He's seemingly lost both of his first two Pokémon. It's not about being able to get more" as she clenches her left fist at her words.
Taken aback, Lillie remains silent as she feels that she's done something wrong here without knowing though isn't sure what that 'something' is.
Misty then hears "She's just trying to be considerate and caring to Ash, no need to try and tell Lillie off" as Serena eyes their new acquaintance carefully.
Sensing the tide of the situation slipping, Officer Jenny comments "Come on you four, I'll escort yous to a Pokémon Center. There yous can get Pikachu looked at, and take a rest" as she motions them to follow her.
From the nearby shadows, a trio of individuals hide by the trees. The male and female have mostly white outfits on. The female with a high skirt, and thigh-high black boots, a white crop top and a small black top underneath along with arm long gloves. She has excessively long dark-pink hair and blue eyes.
The male has black boots that go just below his knees, a black under top and elbow length black gloves. He has green eyes and bluish hair. On both of their tops they have a large, red 'R' insignia on the front.
Whereas the final one is rather different and much shorter in stature. A small, feline Pokémon with cream-colored fur that turns brown at the tips of its hind paws and tail. Its ovoid head features four prominent whiskers, wide eyes with slit pupils, two pointed teeth in the upper jaw and a gold kabon coin embedded in its forehead. Its ears are black with brown interiors and are flanked with an additional pair of long whiskers.
Chuckling the female remarks "Oh looks like they're on to us James"
James responds with "Guess we did steal his Spearow"
The Pokémon ends off with "However we didn't steal that professor's Pokémon, no way!"
They then rip off a nearby poster which depicts a glimpse of the trio and rip it up throwing it to the floor.
At the PokéCenter.
The lady at the front desk is taking three Pokéballs from a young brunette. Her hair while mostly shoulder-length still went a little ways down her back. She has a light-blue vest top and a black top underneath, black wristbands, a short red skirt and a white hat. On the hat there is a red pattern and half of a Pokéball pattern at the front. She has blue knee-length socks and white sneakers with a black sole and red stripes on both. Then has a yellow handbag on her shoulder too.
The young female says "Thank you Nurse Joy, I will just go to my room now and collect them in a little while or tomorrow".
The nurse nods her head and watches as she walks away, she is about to go off to the Pokémon storage area when the local officer bursts in with several children following her in shock.
The officer says "Joy, this Pikachu needs some attention. It was attacked by the flock of Spearow on Route One. I need to leave to make a report of another Pokémon being stolen" and before Joy can respond, the officer was off. Again.
The nurse takes Pikachu and takes him and Misty's three Pokéballs away as well.
As Ash watches her leave, he also spots the two Pokémon that he hadn't paid attention to before. He recognised them as Chansey, well known across Kanto and other regions for assisting Pokémon breeders, Nurse Joys and even parents with young children.
Chansey is a pink, ovoid Pokémon with stubby arms and dark pink feet. It has tiny eyes and three growths on each side of its head, which Ash viewed as being like hair. The tufts of 'hair' have dark pink tips. On the center of its belly is a dark pink pouch that contains a single white egg. As one of them followed behind the nurse, Ash noted its short tail also.
Taking out his Pokédex, he scans the assistant. Dexter says "Chansey, the Egg Pokémon, a Normal Type Pokémon. It is the evolved form of Happiny. They will often avoid battling at any cost, even fleeing at the first sign of conflict. They are said to be able to sense whether a person is good or bad"
Ash thinks to himself 'I have often heard that the Chansey line are mass bred to assist doctors and nurses across the various regions. Maybe one day I can get my own' as he tries to distract himself from the events of the previous few hours.
Serena decides to let her grass Pokémon out of his ball. As Bulbasaur sees the brunette, he goes over to her.
The brunette doesn't seem to notice though until he's right next to her. As she almost jumps from the sudden appearance of the plant-like Pokémon, she turns to see Serena and Bulbasaur. As she does so, she narrows her eyes. Though rather timid, she was rather protective and therefore defensive of strangers getting too close.
The honey-blonde female seeing Bulbasaur approach the girl calls over "Hey come back Bulbasaur, where are you going" as she walks towards her partner. She knows that he is approaching the brunette but isn't certain if that's why Bulbasaur was approaching the girl.
Meanwhile Ash goes to the phone booths to make a call to Professor Oak and his Mum. Before calling either, he takes off his backpack and jacket. He even leaves his favoured hat on his bag too as he sits down in the chair.
He decides to call the professor first. As the other end picks up, he is greeted by the oldest member of the Oak family.
Smiling, the professor says "Ash, my boy, how are you doing? And how is your Spearow was it? I also see that that Pichu has already evolved which is great" as he looks at his research data for Ash on another monitor to his right.
With a solemn look Ash corrects him "Actually" he takes a deep breath "Spearow was stolen from me, Officer Jenny said that it was likely the work of Team Rocket. And Pichu did evolve after saving me and… Misty from a large flock of Spearow that attacked us"
Taken aback by all of this new information, Oak goes on to say "My god, that's a lot to have happened in just your first day Ash. But did you say Misty?"
Confused, Ash says "Yeah, orange-haired, likes fishing" although before he continues, he suddenly cuts himself off as he remembers "Oh wait! I saw a mysterious bird Pokémon, soar above us. A large one at that"
Forgetting what Ash said about Misty, the professor goes on to list 'large' birds "Pidgeot? Fearow? Swellow? Pelipper?"
Ash tells him no to each of them and then goes on to say "We tried scanning it with Dexter, but it didn't register" then Ash notices something on a nearby wall. He exclaims "It looked like that!" as he points towards it.
Oak is obviously confused by this and asks him to explain what the Pokémon looks like.
He explains from the stone engravings as it having many tails or rear feathers, long wings, a beak and a three piece crown. Which doesn't seem to help the professor. But comes to a conclusion nonetheless.
"Articuno? You think you saw the ice legendary, Articuno? I'm afraid to say that you must be mistaken. There are many whom search their whole lives looking for any of the three legendary birds, to no success. Maybe a misidentification?"
"I'm certain I saw that Pokémon though" Ash says his gaze downcast. While the Pokémon he saw may have had a resemblance to the Pokémon in the engraving, even if it was unlikely to be Articuno.
The professor, still intrigued, goes on to ask "What colours were this Pokémon then Ash?" as he tries to determine what Pokémon he may have seen.
Looking up, he answers "Dark orange across most of its body with white and green on its feathers" as he does his best to answer the professor's question.
Eyes widening, the professor says "Dark orange? Well leave that with me Ash, I'll look more into it through research and I'll let you know if I find anything"
They speak more for several more minutes before they end the phone call. That way he could call his mum too.
Serena extends her hand to the stranger and says "My name is Serena, sorry that my Bulbasaur disturbed you"
The girl observes the stranger's hand carefully before deciding to shake her hand as she introduces herself "My name is Leaf Green. Cute little Pokémon you got there. Your starter I assume?"
Smiling, Serena nods her head as she picks Bulbasaur up "Yep just got him yesterday, haven't really had too much time to bond with him yet. What was your starter Pokémon then?" she asks wishing to continue their conversation further.
Making a side glance, Leaf considers her words and reveals "I got myself a… rare Pokémon from Unova, actually. A gift from my parents. Zorua" she knows that she needs to get away from the rather too friendly girl in her path.
In the main lobby, Lillie is sitting in a chair with her bag on her lap. She is thinking to herself 'I didn't mean to come across as horrible. Or at least I think I did because of what Misty said' as she looks towards her bag as she thinks about Nebby 'I'm on this journey to help out Nebby but where do I even begin? Especially as we're keeping his existence a secret, then how would we learn more about him?'
As she is trapped within her thoughts, Misty walks over to her and takes a seat two from Lillie and the bag. Glancing over at the shy girl, Misty thinks to herself 'She doesn't seem to be a trainer, but had a Pokédex, with one capture. Why not give her Pokémon to Nurse Joy? Does she have them on her?'
Misty then asks aloud "Don't you have your Pokémon on you Lillie?" as she keeps an eye on her reaction.
Startled, Lillie's head sharply swings towards Misty as she speaks "What do you mean Misty?"
Putting her hand to her chin, Misty tells her "Your Pokédex said that you have one capture, where is that Pokémon?"
Dialling his home address, a rather familiar face pops up on the monitor. A much older brunette in her pyjamas. She has a look of joy as she looks at her son.
"Ash! It's good to see you haven't forgotten me already" she says happily as she looks at her roughened son. Noting the marks on his clothing, she asks "Did you already have a rough adventure?"
Their Pokémon Cleffa appears on screen too to say hello. Ash greeted them both before his face dropped.
Grimacing and smiling meekly he says "Well, there was issues with Pichu. I tried to capture a Pidgey, accidentally caught a Spearow, that got stolen and we were then attacked and pursued by a large flock of Spearow. Then Pichu would evolve into Pikachu after he saved my life"
Visibly concerned she says "You were attacked? And someone stole your first capture?" she seems in deep thought as she considers this.
Ash confirms and goes on to say "Yep, and we spoke to Viridian Cities Officer Jenny and Nurse Joy. Apparently it sounds like it could have been Team Rocket"
A look of fear crosses her face as she warns him "Ash, listen here" but as she says this the phone cuts off. In fact all of the electricity cuts off in the Pokémon Center. It remains this way until the emergency back-up generator comes on.
Ash's video call interrupted, Misty's questioning of Lillie, Leaf and Serena's conversation cut short led them all onto the scene. This leads to Ash, Serena, Misty and Lillie converging to the main part of the Pokémon Center's lobby as Nurse Joy coming into the room too. Though Bulbasaur was nowhere to seen.
Before any of them can say anything, there's a crash through the skylight as smoke fills the room up.
Coughing, Ash thinks to himself, noting the similarities, 'Not again! These must be the people who stole my Spearow!'
As the smoke clears, a male and female appear on the ground as two purple Pokémon are in front of them. One a spherical gaseous Pokémon with craters across its form with gases escaping them along with an oval and cross under its face. The other is a long serpent who's eyes, underbelly, the thick stripe around its neck and rattle are yellow.
They take their Pokédexs out to scan them quickly.
Ash's one says "Ekans, the Snake Pokémon and a poison type. It sneaks through grass without making a sound and strikes unsuspecting prey from behind. It can freely detach its jaw to swallow large prey whole. It can become too heavy to move however"
Serena's one says "Koffing, the Poison Gas Pokémon and a poison type. "Lighter-than-air gases in its body keep it aloft. The gases not only smell, they are also explosive. It mixes toxins with raw garbage to set off a chemical reaction that results in a terribly powerful Poison Gas. The higher the temperature, the more gas is concocted by this Pokémon"
The female says "Prepare for trouble" The male says "And make it double" The female says "To protect the world from devastation!" The male says "To unite all people within our nation!" The female says "To denounce the evils of truth and love!" The male says "To extend our reach to the stars above!" The female says "Jessie!" The male says "James!" Jessie says "Team Rocket, blast off at the speed of light!" James says "Surrender now, or prepare to fight!"
Coughing, Lillie questions them "Was that entrance really necessary?" as she tries to look towards the group of criminals.
Immediately Jessie's head snaps towards her in fury "Listen here, little miss rich girl, we are taking over this Pokémon Center and there's nothing yous can do about it"
James then picks his radio up as he calls through saying "Meowth, did you get what we came for?"
Through minor static, they each hear "Meowth, that's right, yep getting a few now"
The members of Team Rocket grin at this.
Growing angry, Ash barks out "You're Team Rocket? Did yous steal my Spearow yesterday?" as his hands are balled up into fists.
Jessie laughs as she takes a Pokéball from her belt tossing it casually. Out comes an avian Pokémon. She says "Is this what you were talking about kid?" the Spearow glares daggers at the raven-haired boy.
Misty joins in to say "Real low, stealing a common Pokémon like Spearow from a starting trainer, criminals!" as she reaches for her Pokéball only to remember that she had given them to Nurse Joy earlier.
Elsewhere in the building.
The Meowth is walking on its hind legs through the storage room, picking a couple of Pokéballs off a shelf as he then encounters an unexpected sight. A young brunette, in the room with him.
She smirks at him as she too grabs a Pokéball and hides it in her pocket as Serena's Bulbasaur walks into the room following her scent again. She notices the Seed Pokémon come into view and tells Meowth to leave before she deals with him herself.
The feline sees the grass type and decides that it would be in his best interests to leave right now. Bulbasaur however doesn't see Meowth leave nor does he see her steal a Pokéball for herself.
Leaf thinking to herself 'Soon Jiggly will have a new friend with Drowzee and the others. I'll get this Pokémon to be mine too. I need to go after that Legendary Pokémon eventually'
Meowth comes running into the room with the others in as the girl stays talking to Bulbasaur.
The cat-like Pokémon says "Well while there was a minor problem, I have what we came for" as he tosses each of them a Pokéball each.
Lillie scans the Pokémon with her Pokédex "Meowth, the Scratch Cat Pokémon, and a normal type. Meowth withdraws its sharp claws into its paws to slinkily sneak about without making any incriminating footsteps. For some reason, this Pokémon loves shiny coins that glitter with light"
Leaf in the other room comes across her own Pokémon, along with Pikachu, seemingly well rested and considers taking him for herself. However reconsiders as it awakens and as Bulbasaur was still with her. But comes up with a plan as she takes her own Pokémon and escorts Pikachu, Bulbasaur and three other Pokéballs which must belong to either of those two from earlier, she guesses.
Ash yells at them "You won't get away with continuing to steal other people's Pokémon, you thugs! I won't let you!" as he charges at them recklessly.
Serena shouts out "No Ash, you'll get yourself hurt!" as she tries to stop them. She knew his actions were with good intentions but was going about it too dangerously.
Jessie commands "Ekans use Bite on the kid" as she considers him a non-factor to their plans.
Ash, while unable to properly dodge the attack was able to move enough to only have the fangs of Ekans slice through his t-shirt. Just barely. He had left his jacket, bag and even his hat at the phone booth.
Serena and Lillie rush towards Ash worried for him as he pulls himself up. Feigning an injury, Ash clutches his chest as he winces in pain. He tells the thieves "Give me back my Spearow now" as he glares at them.
Meowth comments in response "Don't ya see, your old Spearow? It hates you kid"
It seemed to be true, Spearow had been glaring intensely at Ash the whole time it had been outside its Pokéball.
Serena asks "What makes you think Spearow likes any of yous any more?" as she raises an eyebrow at who she considered to be cowards. They actively stole other people's Pokémon. She is aware that Meowth stole some Pokéballs just now too.
She thinks to herself 'What minor problem could he have experienced if he got those Pokéballs? And where did Bulbasaur and Leaf get off to? Maybe, she went to get help? Or maybe to get our Pokémon?'
Misty, deciding to try a hail Mary, tells them with a smirk "The police are on their way here right now guys. They're aware of yous being nearby, even knowing about you stealing Ash's Spearow"
Then Lillie suggests "And you probably stole that Charmander from Professor Oak, a few nights ago too"
James retorts "Afraid not darling. Someone else stole that lizard from the old man"
Then it hits Ash as he exclaims "Wait! You were the guard at the lab yesterday, the one who was acting strange, especially towards my friend here" as he moves to stand in front of Lillie and Serena.
Gritting his teeth, James answers "Yes that was us. But someone beat us to the chase and took off with the Charmander before we could"
Deciding that it finally wanted to strike, Spearow cawed and flew straight at Ash intent on causing pain. He dodges barely. At this moment Leaf bursts in and tells Pikachu to use Thunder Shock on the villainous group without revealing herself to Meowth.
Instinctually James tells Koffing to use Poison Gas. Which causes an explosion. However… it doesn't as Nebby stands in front of Lillie and Ash as it cuts the explosion off. It seems to have used some telekinetic energy to keep the blast confined to within a bubble. But at the same time Nebby reveals itself to everyone present.
Meowth, seeing the disadvantage they were in, makes the suggestion "Maybe we should leave them for now"
Jessie and James agree but say that "They'll be back" and with that they return Spearow, Ekans and Koffing to their respective Pokéballs and escape from the scene.
The others are left in shock, mostly due to what Cosmog had just done. Misty and Nurse Joy are confused by the appearance of this strange entity. While Leaf is interested. She puts the three Pokéballs on the floor by Bulbasaur and Pikachu and then leave hidden without being seen by the others.
Misty asks in confusion "What Pokémon is that?" as she looks on eyes widened. Even though they had just had a run in with Team Rocket, it was clear that they were mere lackies in comparison to the criminal enterprise that the gang truly was. So for the moment, she feels like they won't be attacked again straight away.
Nurse Joy occupies herself with cleaning the mess from Team Rocket's attack first.
Lillie doesn't answer her as she keeps her eyes trained on Nebby as she strokes 'him' gently and thanks him.
Seeing this, Serena answers "We aren't too sure. Lillie has given him the name 'Nebby' and it is suspected that he is a Psychic type Pokémon. Other than that, we don't know anything really" as she stays vigilant, of the female.
While yes, Misty had helped Ash out earlier on, she couldn't shake the feeling that she recognised her from somewhere. Which also meant, she can't figure out if she knows Misty for a good reason or a bad reason. So she's keeping her guard up.
As I mentioned at the start, this was originally going to be made up of the Anime's Episodes 2, 3 and 4 but I decided to change that once I began writing the newer pieces to this chapter from the original. The next chapter will take care of Viridian Forest however, which takes up Episodes 3 and 4 of the anime.
Now, let's handle a few things. Here are some points that I will make:
In the anime, Ash has a tendency to not evolve his Pokémon properly whether this is for better or for worse. Some of his anime Pokémon will evolve in this story, but for now I won't comment on which ones until I'm certain and decided.
Continuing from Ash's usual tendencies, Ash will usually leave his old Pokémon with Professor Oak, as will Serena. This doesn't mean we won't see any of them ever again, no. For certain chapters where old Pokémon may help with the story, battling in the Pokémon League, handling evil teams, potential champion matches he will be permitted to use his old Pokémon.
Now what parts of the anime will I be keeping? So the central events of Kanto, Orange Islands, Johto, Hoenn, The Kanto Battle Frontier, Sinnoh, perhaps Sinnoh Battle Frontier, Unova, Decolore Islands, Kalos (with new areas, look up Southern Kalos, a fan made concept on Instagram), Alola, Galar (as a proper region), Paldea, Hisui and the whole travel around the world in the Journey's series. Plus future generations.
Yes, I said about Hisui, it will make sense in a few years when I get to that. Southern Kalos is more or less a way to fix some issues with Kalos. Typically within the games, I will see how I may proceed on that front eventually.
So, in this story, Ash will still have traveling companions. Of course, at the moment he has Lillie, Serena and Misty. Brock will obviously join along. For a time. Brock won't be around forever, as he will be there to teach Ash, Serena and Lillie on how to handle themselves as they grow. Other traveling companions (Tracy, May, Max, Dawn, Iris, Cilan, Clemont, Bonnie, Lana, Kiawe, Mallow, Sophocles and Goh) will still be treated as traveling companions.
However, here's where I must become the dark side and point out that there may EVENTUALLY come a time where Lillie or Serena aren't exactly traveling with Ash for a short time. That way they can go on their own little adventures and discover themselves. This, if it happens, would only ever be temporary and with good reasoning.
