Chapter ?: Aren't you dead already?
The time train, DenLiner! Will its next stop be in the past or the future?
Fuyuki Central Park. The site where the Fourth Holy Grail War reached its conclusion as well as being the origin point of the fire that had ravaged a large portion of the city as well as claiming the lives of 500 souls, their lives consumed in the aftermath of the events that had led to the Grails destruction.
Whilst most of the surrounding area had been repurposed and rebuilt this whole area had been left mostly untouched and despite its central location in the heart of the Shinto District the cities residence more or less avoided this place unless entirely necessary, many who passed through claiming that they were overcoming by a crushing sense of foreboding from the area. Others believed that the park was haunted by the tortured souls that had perished in the fire.
They had no idea how accurate they were. Unbeknown to them the ominous vibes that permeated the area was due to the lingering effects caused by the Grails destruction.
As much as she preferred to avoid this place, Rin had to admit that the park was the perfect location for a clash between Servants. A sizable area to move around and little to no chance of bystanders to get caught in the crossfire, this whole place seemed to be morbidly tailor made for that purpose.
She and Saber had been passing through the area, the blond haired Servant suggesting that cutting through the park would be the quickest way to get to the other side of the district, despite her aversion to this place Rina agreed, quietly hoping that they would be able to get through here as quickly as possible without running into anything.
This wish of hers however would go unanswered. "Well, well. What do we have here?" Hearing a voice the two girls looked round and found Lancer standing on the branch of a nearby tree and leaning against the trunk. "I gotta say I never imagined I'd run into you two here."
"Indeed." A voice that seemed to come from all around suddenly spoke up, moments later a chiming noise was heard and looking up Rin and Saber party as well as Lancer looked up and were greeted by the sight of Caster, the cloaked Servant of the Spell hovering above them. "Happening across all of you here, this is quite the chance encounter."
"Caster…" Saber hissed as the sight of the robed Servant.
"Rin," The voice of her disillusioned Servant echoed in the dark haired Magus's head. "To the left."
In crouched on the branch of another tree they found Rider, the chains that the Servant of the Mount utilized as her primary weapon hanging down, moonlight glinting off of them.
Seeing the enemy before them Saber's civilian clothing vanished, her battle dress and armor appearing in their place along with her invisible sword as she assumed a defensive stance in front of Rin Archer appearing beside his Master moments later, his yin and yang swords in hands.
Seeing this Lancer let out a gleeful sounding laugh. "Well, look at this." Lancer smirked as he shifted his gaze to look briefly at each of them. "All of us gathered together in one place, I don't think I could have asked for a better night."
"As much as it disgusts me to agree with the Irish dog, he does have a point." Caster said, shooting said Servant a narrow eyed look. "Running into all of you here seems quite fortuitous."
Rider didn't say anything, however if anyone were to look closely they would have noticed the grip the lavender haired Servant of the Mount had on her weapon tighten, as if signalling that she too were in agreement.
"I have to agree, this is indeed a fortuitous meeting." From behind a tree emerged Illya, the pale skinned Master flashing Rin and the others Servants a pleased look. From the looks of things the Einzbern Master appeared to be by herself however that didn't mean that Berserker wasn't simply disillusioned awaiting his tiny Master's command. "Good evening Rin, this makes it the second time I've run into you whilst out for an evening stroll."
"Illyasviel, what are you doing here?" Rin demanded.
"What, just because I'm a Master means I can't enjoy an evening stroll through the park. Isn't that why you're here?" Illya replied, just then a playful look crossed her face. "Or am I misreading the situation, we didn't happen to interrupt an intimate moment between you and Saber did we? Did we happen to catch you going on a romantic moonlight stroll with a Servant, one that isn't even your own. Oh my Rin, fraternising with a rival Servant. How scandalous."
Hearing this Rin started to stutter porously as her face took on a similar hue to the sweater she often wore. Meanwhile Saber appear unfazed by the Einzbern Master's teasing, however despite this a slight pinkness appeared on her cheeks.
The diminutive Master's words also had an effect on the other gathered Servants. Lancer was practically rolling on the ground laughing whilst above Caster was covering her mouth with her hand, chuckling in amusement as she did so. Also had anyone paid Rider any attention they would have seen the the lavender haired Servants lips twitch momentarily.
Archer meanwhile just rolled his eyes.
Soon however the jovial moment passed and the atmosphere of the surrounding area once more grew tense as the gathered Servants glanced back and forth at one another the air as they all waited for someone to make the first move.
Meanwhile Rin had taken a step back, despite her best to keep a calm demeanour her heart was racing and a bead of sweat rolled down her face. Five of the seven Servants all gathered in one place, there was no telling what could happen or just how much damage would result from such an encounter. The outcome of which could very well decide the outcome of the Holy Grail War.
It was then, just as the tension was about to hit breaking point, Lancer's ears twitched. "Wait," He spoke up, the red eyes Servant's features taking on a serious tone as he looked around, "Anyone else hear that?"
Rin was confused by the Servant of the Spears comment as she watched as Archer and the other Servants also began scanning the area, she couldn't hear anything but quickly recalled that Servant's possessed senses more acquit then those of humans. Taking a moment she poured Prana into her ears, extending out her hearing beyond its natural range she noticed a faint noise, one that was getting gradually louder. Was that…hip hop?
Looking round Rin saw someone was coming towards them who seemed utterly oblivious to or unaffected by the oppressive nature or the surrounding area, practically skipping and spinning on their toes as they approached. From the looks of things the figure was clad in baggy clothing with a baseball cap on their head, a pair of oversized headphones hanging around his neck.
"What the?" Rin exclaimed as the stranger drew closer. "Is this guy crazy, dose he really not see what's right in front of him?"
"Who knows, maybe he has a death wish." Lancer offered, his comment earning him a stern look from the other gathered Servants and Masters. "What?"
"Well whoever it is I'll give him this, he's either really brave or really stupid." Illya added offhandedly.
Meanwhile the dancing figure drew closer, the funky beat seemingly following him as he approached, without any sense of fear or hesitation as he 'walked' up into the middle of the area that the Grail War participants had gathered and proceeded to perform several steps in their routine before striking a pose, pointing a finger in Rin, Saber and Archer's direction.
It was only when whoever this stopped moving did Rin realize that this person was no stranger to her. "E…Emiya…" She exclaimed before she move towards the wayward Master.
"Shirou…" Saber added, matching the shocked tone and look of surprise of the Tohsaka Heiress.
Standing there was indeed Emiya Shirou, the rust haired teen who had not been seen for several days now, had Rin and Saber not been so shocked by his sudden reappearance they would have noticed how different he looked.
Instead of his usual sweatshirt and jeans Shirou was clad in a hoody that looked to be a size too big for him and baggy pants, his hair looked to be longer and curlier than normal, a single strand of purple poking out from the cap that adorned his head and his normally golden eyes were now purple.
"Emiya, where have you been?" the Tohsaka magus demanded as she approached him, her face set into a stern look. "Do you have any idea just how much stress you caused me when you just upped and disappeared?"
"I concur." Saber added as she approached. "Shirou, I have been most worried about you after you didn't return home. Rin and I have spent the last few nights searching for you."
"Hey, is it just me or does the kid seem kinda…off to you?" Lancer asked his fellow Servants, all of whom seemed to be just as confused as to what was going on.
Hearing Rin and Saber's voices 'Shioru' lulled his head in their direction. "Hmmm, are you talking to me?" He asked lazily before looking around him, his gaze shifting to each Servant and the two Master's whom were surrounding him. "Wow, you all look like a bunch of weirdo's."
As he looked around a smirk suddenly spread across 'Shirou's' face. "Wait, are you guys here to fight?" He asked, sounding gleeful "Can I join in too, I'm way stronger then all of you."
Lancer couldn't help but laugh at this. "You, fight us?" He chortled. "You can't be serious?"
"I'm not one who agrees with mutt over here, however on this occasion I must do so." Caster added, sounding amused. "A mere human thinking that he can be a match for a Servant, it is absurd."
Meanwhile Archer stood to the side, his gaze fixed upon 'Shirou'. From the moment of their first meeting he'd done his best to keep an eye on the rust haired teen, in doing so he'd not only deduced that was not the timeline that he'd originated from the moment but that there something going on with him.
He'd noted several times that Emiya Shirou's personality would suddenly and unexpectedly change, saying and doing things that seemed wildely out of character for him to do along with seeing him in the company of a strange woman that he himself could not recall existing in his own had timeline.
"Emiya Shirou, you shouldn't joke about such things." He called out his younger self. "Challenging a Servant to a fight is not something that should be said or done likely."
'Shirou' looked over at Archer, flashing the tanned skinned man a cocky grin. "I'm totally serious, I'm stronger then all of you." 'Shirou' said with, he then spun on his heel and pointed a finger at in Saber's direction. "Especially her, I can tell that she's really weak."
The rust haired teens words left several of those gathered stunned that he'd refer to his own Servant in such a manner. 'Sh…Shirou thinks I'm weak…' Saber thought, her eyes wide and mouth agape.
Meanwhile 'Shirou' reached behind him and pulled out a silver and black belt, the buckle of which features four buttons one red, one blue, one yellow, and one purple on its left side. Spinning on his heels before placing the devise against his waist, the strap winding around him and attaching itself to buckle. With that done 'Shioru' pressed a button on the belt a jazzy sounding tune filled the air.
"Henshin…" 'Shirou' said, a smirk on his face before he scanned his Rider Pass over the buckle of the Den-O Belt.
GUN FORM…
The buckle of the belt glowed purple and let lose a flash of bright light from which dozens of glowing rectangular pieces emerged that then bound themselves to 'Shirou's' body creating a black bodysuit with silver and white armored pieces on his chest, legs and arms as well as helmet has a black visor with a single, silver train track running down towards the silver mouth piece. A second track piece running down the centre of his chest.
Moments later several more armor pieces appeared and attached themselves to the armored figure, these consisting of purple and silver chest armor with two rectangular pauldron's stick up above the shoulders, both of which featured an orb that was being grasped by three claws.
This was followed up by a vaguely draconic like face mask appeared and slid down the track that ran down the front of 'Shirou's' helmet and attached itself there.
His transformation complete Den-O struck a pose, pointing a finger at Saber. "Taoshite mo ii kedo?" The purple Dragon Rider announced before he then punched the blond Servant in the face, knocking her back slightly. "Kotae wa kiite nai!"
Shocked by her Master's sudden act of hostility Saber managed to recover her wits just in time to notice as Den-O aimed an axe kick at her head, the blond haired Servant managing to duck out of the way just in time.
Before he could engage Saber further Den-O looked over to see that Lancer was running towards him, the Servant of the Spear slicing at his with the bladed end of his crimson weapon, as the blue clad spearman charged at him Den-O began to move as if he were dancing, sidestepping out of the way of the spear before it could strike him.
Not letting up Lancer continued his assault, stabbing and slashing at the purple Dragon Rider, all of which Den-O was able to avoid. Again and again Lancer tried to attack him Den-O was able to duck, side step, pivot and spin out of the way, as if he were moving to music that only he could hear.
As he continued to avoid the tip of Lancer's spear Den-O grabbed the pieces of the DenGasher from the side of his belt before tossing each of the pieces into the air as he side stepped out the way to avoid another attempt by Lancer to impale him before spinning in his heel.
As both pieces of the DenGasher hung there in mid-air, Den-O turned around to face his opponent and leaned his head to the side, narrowly avoiding the tip of Lancer crimson weapon as it shot past his head.
"Gotta say kid, you're just full of surprises ain't ya." The Hound of Ulster told the armored clad Rider. "When we first met you seemed pretty stiff, didn't think you were the type to pull out moves like this. Just don't go thinking all this dancin around is gonna help you, you can't avoid my spear forever."
"Says you," Den-O retorted as he raised a hand towards the sky and snapped his fingers. "I'm gonna beat you now."
In an instant the pieces of the DenGasher snapped together into its gun mode before it fell back towards the earth and fell into Den-O's awaiting hand. His weapon now in hand Den-O pointed at Lancer's head and fired, the Servant of the Spear narrowly managing to avoid it by pulling back and dodging to the side.
Den-O however, much like Lancer had done only moments before, did not let up as he unleashed a barrage of shots at the blue haired Servant who either dodged out of the way of or used his weapon to block the Rider's shots as they tried to hit him, forcing several of the others to take cover, Caster threw up a barrier, Rider utilizing her chains whilst Illya let out a small yelp as she threw herself to the ground and covered her heads, all done in an attempt to avoid as not to get hit by a stray shot as Den-O continued to fire wildly.
One such shot happened to find itself flying in the direction of Rin, Lancer having moved swiftly out of the way, the dark haired Magus unable to react in time before a crimson blur appeared before her before she found herself being pushed her to the ground which was followed closely by a clang of metal.
Looking up Rin found Archer, one of his hands resting on her shoulder whilst the other was held out before him, the tanned skinned man's steely gaze fixed upon Den-O who was looking back at him, his demeanour unknown due to the helmet.
"Unforgivable…" The red clad Servant said in a low tone
"Shirou, what are you thinking?" Saber called out. "Rin is our ally, do not just fire recklessly without regard for those around you." Her words however would fall on deaf ears as both Den-O and Archer continued to glare at one another, neither of them caring to listen to her words.
"Unforgivable." Archer growled as he rose to his full height, a new falchion appearing in his empty hand. "Emiya Shirou, your recklessness could have cost my Master her life. I will not forgive you for that."
"Oh, does this mean I get to beat you up as well?" Den-O replied lazily as he pointed a finger at Archer before flipping his palm face up and gave him a 'come here' gesture.
Raising both his swords Archer hurled them in Den-O's direction, both of them spinning like circular blades as they cut through the air. Seeing them incoming Den-O raised the DenGasher and opened fire on them, knocking both of them out of the air and clatter to the ground where they dissolved into wisps of blue energy.
Conjuring a new pair of swords, Archer was quickly on the move, making a beeline towards Den-O and slashing at him with one of his swords, as with Lancer the Dragon masked Rider used his rhythmic movements to evade his attempts whilst at the same trying to find an opening to score a hit on the red clad Servant with either his weapon or his fist.
This however proved to be rather difficult as Archer was just as nimble on his feet as Den-O was, making good use of his Class's mobility to evade the Riders shots and punches or using Kanshou and Bakuya to block or deny him.
Back and forth both of them went as both Den-O and Archer tried to find an opening to score a decisive hit only to be quickly denied by the other. Time and time again Archer slashed at the Rider, each attempt driving him back a little more.
Frustration building Archer lunged forward, as he did so he aimed a horizontal slash at the Rider with both of his swords which Den-O avoided by leaning backwards out of the way, the Married Blades slicing the air where his head had been only moments before.
"Heh heh…" Den-O chuckled as he smirked beneath his helmet, something that Archer raised an eyebrow at. "Gotcha…"
Immediately popping back up Den-O aimed the DenGasher at Archer and aimed a shot at the tanned skinned man's face. Muttering a curse Archer raised both Kanshou and Bakuya to intercept the shot, the moment that the bullet made contact a cracking noise was heard before both the Married Blades shattered like glass, Archer quickly turning his head as not to get any of the broken shards of metal in his eyes.
This however provided Den-O with the opening he needed. Quickly moving to the side, the time travelling Rider aimed one of his feet at Archer, delivering a vicious kick that made contact with the back of his knee, throwing him off balance and causing him to stumble forward.
Seeing this Archer grabbed a hold of Den-O's foot, using his momentum to spin him around and toss him off to one side, sailing through the air Den-O twisted himself as he planted his feet on the ground, sliding across it for several meters before coming to a halt, his gaze once more meeting Archer's.
Before either of them could do anything else as several beams of glowing energy was fired at them from above, both Archer and Den-O momentarily forgetting their animosity as they dived out of the way.
Looking up they were met by the sight of Caster, the hooded Servant looking back at them with a small smirk on her face. "I think you've done enough Archer, I suggest you step aside and give someone else a turn." Caster told the Servant in the red coat "After all I'd say that this situation requires a woman's touch."
With that Caster touched and brushed her pointer and middle fingers her lips, a trail of glowing energy trailing off of her tips before she held her hands out and three glowing motes appeared before her and fired a trio of magical beams at the armor bedecked Rider.
Seeing this the Den-O was on the move once again, using his every one of his dance like movements to narrowly avoid the beams of energy that fired at him. As Caster conjured up another magical circle Den-O pointed the DenGasher in her direction and fired, the shot cutting through the air towards the glowing sigil and struck it, moments later the spell that Caster was attempting to cast began to glow brighter as it became unstable before exploding seconds later, knocking Caster back and a short distance towards the ground before manging to catch herself.
"Ha ha, glowy circle goes boom…" Den-O laughed gleefully before he unleashed a barrage of gunfire at Caster, the Greek anti-hero muttering a curse. As they fired upon the other only the Den-O shooting out a few more of Caster's spells before she could launch them at him.
"You certainly are a slippery one," Caster said in a stern tone as she glided to the side as she to as not to get shot. "This would go a lot quicker if you weren't squirming around so much."
Den-O stared up at her from the ground. "Screw you, you old bat." He retorted at the robe bedecked Servant as he once again aiming his gun and fired another barrage shots at her.
Beneath her hood Caster's eyebrow twitched as she conjured a barrier, the shots Den-O had fared at her bouncing off of it harmlessly. "What a rude little child you are, speaking to a lady in such a manner." She said in a tone of barely restrained anger. "Perhaps I should teach you some manners before I kill you."
"Enough of this." A voice announced in a commanding tone before seconds later Saber appeared behind Den-O and wrapped her armor clad hands appeared from wrapped themselves around his chest, holding his tightly as she attempted to restrain the now struggling Rider.
"ARGH!" Den-O cried out as he struggled against her grip. "Let me go you blond ape."
"Please Shirou, don't struggle. Whatever spell you are under I promise that you'll be freed from it promptly." Saber said before turning her gaze towards Caster "Caster, I demand that you release my Master from whatever enchantment you have on him."
"Me," Caster replied, sounding somewhat taken aback by the blond Ex-King's accusation. "What makes you think that this is my doing?"
"Do not play coy with me Caster. Using Magecraft to warp and control the minds of others, such underhanded tactics are synonymous with Servants your class." Saber retorted harshly. "It only makes sense that Shirou's current condition is because of some spell that you have cast upon him. So I shall ask you again to release your hold on him."
"You wound me Saber." Caster said, sounding hurt. "Whilst I admit that turning your Master to my cause might be within my capabilities I can assure you that in this case I am quite innocent."
Saber stayed silent as she shot Caster a final stern glare before she looked, whilst she was under no obligation to believe Caster's words it was also wrong of her to accuse the magically inclined Servant of wrongdoing without proof. However if Caster was not responsible then what was the cause of Shirou's sudden affliction?
Still struggling against the Servant's grip an idea suddenly popped into Den-O's head. Leaning forward he then quickly pulled back and rammed the back of his helmet covered head into Saber's face, the act catching her off guard and caused her grip to loosen slightly as she winced.
Feeling Saber's grip on him loosen Den-O propelled himself upwards, slipping out of her arms as he flipped over the top of her head, aiming a foot at the back of her back and kicking off of her to put a distance between the two of them.
The moment his feet touched the ground Den-O aimed the DenGasher in the direction of the back of Saber's head and fired several shots at her. With reflexes beyond what a normal human could hope to achieve Saber quickly spun round, swinging her swords as she did so and unleashing a gust of wind powerful enough to knock Den-O's shots off course as well as buffet the surrounding area.
"Shirou, please listen to me." She said to the purple Rider. "I do not know what enchantment is afflicting you but please let me help you."
"Mōshiwakearimasen," Den-O replied as he cocked his weapon once again as he continued to point it at her. "Kotae wa kiite nai!"
As Den-O and the Servants fought it out none of the noticed that high above a blue bat like creature with sinister red eyes the size of an adult male was flying through the night sky. None of them noticing it until it suddenly swooped from out of the sky towards Rin, so engrossed in what was going on she didn't notice till it wrapped a wing like arm around her, causing her to let out a cry that caught the Rider and five Servants attention.
"Rin…" Archer called out, cursing himself for leaving the Tohsaka heiress unprotected.
"WH…what the…" Rin growled as she struggled against the creatures grip. "Let me go you ugly bastard…"
"Shut up girl." The Bat Imagin retorted as he did his best to keep his grip on the black haired Magus. Looking up the blue skinned creature's eyes were drawn to the Rider that was a short distance away. "Den-O, just my luck I ran into you…"
"D…Den-O…" Saber exclaimed, confused as to why had referred to her Master in such a way.
"Damned monster," Archer hissed as she pointed one of his swords at the Bat Imagin. "Release her now."
"Fraid I can't do that," The Bat Imagin replied as he did his best to keep his grip on a struggling Rin. "You see the human I have made a contract with greatly desires this one's company, I'm duty bound to make that happen."
Hearing this exchange Den-O turned his attention the Bat Imagin. "Oh yeah, I was supposed to be on the lookout for you." He said before cocking his head to the side. "Hold on, didn't Momotaros kill you already?"
"I have no idea what you're talking about, I'm merely here to fulfil the contract I made." The Bat Imagin replied, pressing Rin closer to itself. "Den-O, if you want to fight we'll have to do so another time."
With that the Bat Imagin took to the air, carrying Rin with it, managing to avoid the barrage of shot that Den-O fired at him as he flew off, Rin letting out another scream as he did so.
"Damn…" Archer growled as he watched as the blue skinned creature ascended skyward with his Master, tensing up the red clad Servant launched himself into the air, propelling himself in the same direction that both Rin and the Bat Imagin had gone.
As he flew away a noise caught the Bat Imagin's attention, glancing down he was met by the sight of a red streak come rocketing towards him, Archer glaring back at him, a stern look on the white haired man's face and both of his signature swords in hand as he drew closer. "What the…" He muttered.
Second by second Archer drew closer, dismissing one of his swords he reached out ahead him I an attempt to grab Rin and pull her free from the Time Demon's grip. Seeing this the Bat Imagin twisted out of the way at the last moment, altering course slightly to the left, moving just out of Archer's reach, not giving Archer a chance to make another attempt the Bat Imagin lashed out and kicked the Servant of the Bow in the face and knocking him back towards the ground below and sending him sprawling across it when he made impact.
"Archer," Saber said in a concerned tone as she approached the fallen man as he pushed himself up off of the ground. "Are you alright?" Archer didn't say anything in reply, his gaze still fixed upon the spot where the Bat Imagin had departed, carrying Rin with him.
"Shirou…" Just then the sound of a woman's voice was heard, looking round the Rider and the gathered Servants and Illya saw a long haired woman who appeared to be in her late teens/early twenties being accompanied by the torso of a demonic looking creature that was sticking out of the ground, its body looking like it made out of sand, with what looked like its legs hovering above it.
"Ok, what the hell is that?" Lancer asked the others pointing to the demon's torso and floating legs.
"H…Hana-san, Momotaros…" Den-O said as the two of them approached him.
"There you are, Momo and I have been looking all over for you." Hana said to the armor clad Rider, panting slightly. "What just happened?"
"Ryutaros, what the hell?" The demon like Imagin barked angrily. "You let the Imagin, the one who we were looking for, get away. Plus it's now got a hostage"
"Hey get off my case Momotaros," Den-O retorted indignantly. "I was doing just fine you idiot."
"Idiot! Don't call me an idiot you idiot." Momo retorted, gesturing wildly as he did so. "You get out of Shirou right now so I can take over and take care of this. You clearly get distracted way too easily."
"No way, I'll get it." Den-O replied stubbornly as he looked away from Hana and Momo, "I can fly too." He then snapped his fingers, moments later the sound of a revving engine was heard as the Denbird came into view and approached the Rider who mounted it and took off after the Bat Imagin and Rin.
No sooner had Den-O departed and before Saber or any of those left behind could do or say anything a glowing portal opened up a fair distance away, from which emerged a large white bullet train with a pair oddly of red windows, a distinct sounding whistle filling the air as it did so, that passed in front of both Hana and Momotaros, the two of them having vanishing from view after it departed as it followed after Den-O.
"Ok, what just happened?" Lancer spoke up.
"You're asking us mutt," Caster replied sternly. "I can assure you that the rest of us are as much in the dark about this as you are."
"Y'know I could do without the mutt comment. Just because we're enemies doesn't mean you have to be rude." Lancer retorted. Just then he noticed Rider standing off to the side, a frown etched into the lavender haired Servants face. "Hey what's with you? You look slightly moodier than usual."
"I…did not get a turn." Rider replied. "From my observations from his engagements with all of you I believe that I have figured out his patterns and the rhythm to which Saber's Master's moved to. I am disappointed that I was not given the opportunity to see if I was correct or not."
Just as confused to the situation as the other, a bewildered looking Saber turned her attention to Archer who was now back on his feet, his attention affixed upon the direction in which the Bat Imagin had flown off and Den-O had pursued. "Archer…"
Again the red clad man ignored her, looking off in the direction in which the Bat Imagin, Den-O and the DenLiner had departed, a feeling a mixture of frustration and shame for allowing his Master to get carried off. In the brink of an eye the red clad Servant. Just as Saber was about to follow after him she felt a tug on her dress, looking round she found Illya standing there. "L…Lady Einzbern…"
"You Saber," The pale skinned Master said in a regal tone. "I want to follow after Onii-san, you will take me to him."
"Why should I?" Saber replied, "Whilst I have no problem aiding you if Shirou orders me to do so, you however are not my Master, I am under no obligation to obey your commands."
"Because as of this moment we find out self on common ground, you and I both want to know what's going on here and the ones clearly with the answer has just taken off after the odd creature that has just flown off with Rin." Illya told her. "Therefor since we both have a common goal, and since Berserker is not here, I will give you the honour of carrying me."
Saber frowned. Then again looking into the eyes of the diminutive Master she couldn't help be reminded of another Einzbern that she'd know, one that had shown her great support and kindness in the during the previous Holy Grail War.
"Very well then." She said before kneeling down and allowing the child like Master to climb onto her back.
Meanwhile, high in the air, Rin was struggling against the Bat Imagin's grip as the two of them soared past by the high rise buildings of the Shinto District. "Argh, let…let me go you…weird thing you…" She growled.
"That's a rather poor choice of words considering where you are." The Bat Imagin told the thrashing Magus, sounding rather irritated. "You might want to reconsider that, especially what would happen if I were to drop you from this height."
Rin shot the blue skinned creature a defiant look but decided to stay quiet. 'Damnit Archer, where are you…' She inwardly cursed as she gazed down at the streets below. It was then caught sight of Den-O speeding along down below, tearing through the streets on the DenBird. "E…Emiya…"
"Gotcha now…" The Purple Dragon Rider said in a mischievous tone before pulling out the DenGasher and once again opening fire at them.
Rin letting out another scream in response as she tried to make herself as small of a target as possible. "DAMNIT EMIYA!" She yelled at the Rider. "QUIT TRYING TO SHOOT ME!"
Den-O however didn't seem to hear her as he continued to fire with reckless abandon, most of his shots missing and instead hit the surrounding buildings causing a shower of broken glass and other debris to rain down onto the streets below. "Oh this is just great, this is how I'm going to die." Rin practically sobbed. "Carried off by some weird bat creature like a cliché damsel in distress, Emiya's trying to kill me and that useless Servant of mine is nowhere to be seen. This can't get worse."
It was then at that moment a familiar whistle filled the air and looking over coming from behind him Den-O glanced over to see the Denliner come speeding towards him. "Wow, Owner-san sure is getting a work out today." Den-O said to himself.
Gripping the handle bars tightly the turned sharply as the large train drew closer and changed direction towards the nearest buildings, popping the front wheels as he did so Den-O steered the DenBird up the wall of the building.
A panel on the front of the trail opened up and Den-O pushed off of the wall and landing inside the train as it raced past, the panel closing the moment that he was inside. With the DenBird once again in place at the head of the Time Train Den-O yanked on the controls and caused the white and black machine rise off of the ground and into the air in pursuit of the Bat Imagin.
"Wha…what the fuck…" Rin stammered as she watched as the Denliner was lifted up off of the street below and towards her and the Bat Imagin, riding upon rails that materialised out of the thin air before it. She couldn't believe what she was seeing, despite being a resident of the Moonlit World in which Mages and all manner of supernatural creatures dwelt there were somethings that she'd taken as absolute truth and one of those truths was that trains don't fly.
Maybe this was a sign she was having a mental breakdown brought about by stress due to all the craziness of the Holy Grail War, having to put up with Archer and just dealing with Emiya in general. Yeah, that made sense to her.
As this was going on Saber was hurrying after Den-O and the Bat Imagin, carrying the dainty form of Illya on her back. Saber took a moment to glance at the wreckage left behind by Shioru's attempt to 'rescue' Rin as she passed by, baffled by what could have brought on her Master's sudden streak of recklessness.
"Hey look," The sound of Illya's voice "Is that train flying?" Looking away from the debris Saber was watched as the DenLiner lifted up off of the ground and into the air, once again baffled by what she was seeing. Even her connection to the Holy Grail brought her no answer of how such a feat was even possible.
"Damn. We're getting nowhere at this rate." Illya grumbled. "Move faster Servant, we'll be left behind if you continue to move this slowly."
"You need not take that tone Lady Einzbern, if you wish me to go faster than you all you need to do say so." Saber told the purple clad Master, shooting her a stern look. "Also need I remind you again that you are not my Master, you cannot just order me around."
Frowning, Illya reached out and grabbed ahold of the ahoge that protruded from the top of the blond Servants head and gave it a sharp tug. "Oww…" Saber winced. "Was that necessary?"
"I don't want your sass, now move faster." Illya replied haughtily, Saber's response to this was to to let out a low growl at and narrowing her eyes as she increased her speed in an attempt to keep up with DenLiner.
It was times like this that she really hated being bound to a knight's code of honour and chivalry.
Meanwhile the DenLiner continued to chase after the Bat Imagin, racing past him and Rin as if rose further into the air before looping back around and raced back towards the blue skinned Time Demon as they did so a hatch opened up above him through which Den-O leapt up and landed on the roof of the DenLiner.
"Heh heh, you think I'm gonna let you get away." He chuckled as he pointed the DenGasher and unleashed a volley of gun shots at the Bat Imagin who was forced to pivot left and right and dive and rise to avoid the incoming gunfire only for one of Den-O's shots to graze his shoulder, the sudden jolt of pain causing him to lose his grip on who Rin who found herself falling towards the ground she at high speed, the dark haired Magus letting out a scream as she did so.
"Ryutaros, what are you waiting for…" A stern voice echoed through Den-O's head as he was moments away from firing another shot at the Bat Imagin, "We need to help Tohsaka now…"
Shaking his head Den-O leapt off of the DenLiner as the Time Train passed by, arms pressed tightly to his side as he diving towards Rin and the moment he was close enough the armor clad Rider reached out towards her and managed to grab a hold of one of Rin's hands.
Meanwhile no sooner Den-O had leapt off of the roof the DenLiner looping around and diving down towards the Den-O and Rin and quickly drawing level with them, a door on the train's side sliding open as did so. Den-O reached out and grabbed a hold of the door frame, both her and Rin forced against the side of the side of the DenLiner by the sheer force of the speed the Time Train was travelling at.
Den-O grimaced as he tried to pull both himself and Rin towards he felt something grab a hold of him. Looking round he was greeted by the sight of Hana who was partially leaning out of the open door and had grabbed a hold of his wrist. "H…Hana-san…"
"Hold on Shirou…" Hana told him, her face then twisting itself into a frown. Utilizing her insane the dark haired woman pulled back, effortlessly managed to drag Den-O and Rin inside the DenLiner, the moment they were inside the DenLiner pulling up out of its dive and back into the air.
Inside the train both Den-O and Rin sitting on the floor of the carriage as they gasped for breath. "Oh man," Den-O gasped. "That was wild."
Hana meanwhile leaned down and placed a hand on Rin's shoulder as she checked on her. "Are you alright?" She asked the younger girl. Rin merely nodded in response, the Tohsaka's heiress's voice quite horse from all the screaming.
"It's ok, you're safe now." Hana said to her in a reassuring tone, offering her a small smile before and rising back up and grabbed Den-O by one of the horns that extended off of the mask that adorned his helmet and effortlessly lifted him back to his feet.
"H…Hana-san…what the heck?" Den-O exclaimed. "That's my face."
Hana didn't answer, she merely glared at him as she seized a hold of the Den-O Driver and easily pulled it off from around his waist, the armor disintegrating off of the possessed Shirou's body, that done Hana then grabbed a hold of one of Shirou's ears and gave it a slight twist as she began frog marching him towards the DenLiner's dining area.
"Ow…ow…ow…" 'Shirou' protested as he was forced along. "Hey hey be careful. You'll pull Shirou's ear off."
"H…hey…" Rin spoke up as the two marched off, her voice somewhat strained. "Is anyone gonna clue in to who you people are and just what the heck going on here?"
"I would like to know that as well." Looking round everyone was met by the sight of Saber standing in the doorway just before it slid closed, Illya still perched on her back.
"S…Saber, Illyasviel," Rin said, surprised to see the pair. "How…how the heck did you get on board this thing?"
"We used the door Rin, we managed to slip inside just before it closed." Illya replied, her tone haughty, she then shot Saber a stern look. "Although it might not have been so close if Saber here wasn't so slow."
"There is no need for that tone Lady Illyasviel, I did what I did to ensure your safety as we kept pace with Shirou and whatever this strange contraption is." Saber said to the pale skinned Master. "Also, whilst I am unfamiliar as to how fast Berserker moves whilst carrying you, however If I moved at my top speed I would have also risked you being knocked off my back."
Illya once again grabbed a hold of Saber's ahoge and gave it another sharp tug which earned her another wince of pain from the Servant that she currently seated upon. "What did I say about sass?" She said disapprovingly. "You really are an inferior Servant in every way compared to my Berserker."
Saber's frown deepened and her eyebrow twitched. "Rin, would you be so kind to help Lady Einzbern down off of my back?" She said, doing her best to keep her frustration from colouring her voice. "It would be such a shame if she were to fall and help hurt herself."
AN And with that another chapter is fini. Obviously the tone of this chapter is pretty different from the previous one, then again the given that we're dealing with Den-O here its not all that surprising.
So yeah, Den-O, its another one of the Kamen Rider shows that no ones written a full on crossover for which suprises me given its popularity. Even if you think that it wouldn't work well with the main Fate universe would work given its more goofy elements, cos yeah Fate is 100% serious and has absolutely zero goofy elements in it, then what about Prisma Illya, given that shows more light hearted tone I could see it meshing quite well with Den-O.
Given that the Moonlit World is already filled with all manner of supernatural elements, creatures and magic, throwing in time travel doesn't feel like that much of a stretch, actually it's probably something that many in both the Clock Tower and the Church would greatly desire to have access to. Also your telling me that knowing about the existence of the DenLiner wouldn't have a serious effect on many of the Fate characters. Heck I'm sure even a total luddite like Rin could see the see the benefits of having access to a working time machine even if her Magus upbringing tells her that one could possibly exist.
And what about Artoria, given that her whole goal is to alter the timeline so she can erase her own history, I could see that leading to her having an uneasy relationship with the crew of the DenLiner since their job is to protect the timeline from being altered.
And thats just one example of how the casts of both shows could interact, just imagine what other things you could do. For example Shirou's part time job could be at the Milk Dipper which would give him a connection to Airi would I could see as a big sister to him (as well as being a counter point to Taiga) and by extension Yuto.
And on a less serious note I can just imagine a scene where EMIYA gets triggered by Niaomi's bad coffee, he may have no pride as a warrior or as quote unquote hero however his ability to produce good food is something that he takes a shred of pride in and he will not stand for is bad coffee.
One thing I'm not sure of what to do with is Zeronos, honestly I don't want to touch Zeronos's story because its so well done and really tragic when you get down to it. If you've seen Den-O Zeronos has a bunch of cards that he needs in order to transform after which they dissolve into dust, those cards represents someone's memory of him and when they dissolve they forget who he is, which he's basically erasing himself every time he transforms to fight.
Add in his relationship with Airi and even you don't care for the silly antics of Ryotaro and the Taros's, Yuto's story might just be Den-O's saving grace for you.
But yeah, I think that's enough of a sales pitch on why I think how a crossover between Fate and Den-O could work. I suppose a little behind the scenes tidbit that I can share with you all is that I at first had a different idea in mind of how things would have played out when I originally conceived of a Fate/Den-O crossover. The set up was the same with Shirou having been missing for several days, however the big difference was that when Rin and the others stumble across him, Shirou was going to be possessed by Urataros and he was going to charm Rin, Artoria, Illya, Medea and Medusa before being dragged off by Hana.
Jokes aside what do you all think, would you have preferred to have seen the scenario or did you like the one you got?
Also before anyone who might be unfamiliar with Den-O starts complaining about Hana and how she treats Shirou, this is what she's like in the show. She doesn't dislike Shirou its just that she's kind of a tsunader who also gets annoyed at Momo and the other Taros's but deep down cares about them very much.
It was only when I sat down to write this did the idea of Shiro being possessed by Ryutaros instead, and yes I did briefly consider the idea of having Ryutaros force them all to dance, and figured a Ryutaros possessed Shirou would be funnier. Now that I think about it Shirou's beyond maxed out Eroage Skill + Urataros is actually kinda terrifying.
Something else that I can mention is that recently I finished up a chapter based on Kamen Rider Agito and I'm also currently working on one thats based on W so look forward to those. I've also got a couple of ideas in mind for a chapter based on Zi-O.
As always thanks for dropping by and checking this out, feel free to drop a comment and tell me what you all thought of this chapter. Not gonna lie, this chapter is probably the one I'm most curious to see feedback for.
Till next time, peace out y'all.
