The spiders in the cupboard mutate due to the wards being so different. A blood ward. Spiders drink blood. Harry was bit when tiny. They mutate and to them Harry is god. With his starving, he has learned to talk and understand the spiders. They get Harry to eat the older dying ones, so he will have food. Due to the Semi-Sentient Magic Harry is transformed in an animagus way. He is now much better than an acromantula. Think Spiderman, but the SS Magic also understands the spiders. Eat enemies, protect Harry, have children. Several very mutated spiders will go with Harry to the Wizarding World. They understand English, so while Harry is being basically pushed around, they read and listen. After all, they have a god who wanted them to learn to read, to protect them. He is a great god.
The magic of Hogwarts affects all the inhabitants except for the latest Headmaster. The inhabitants also affected the castle. Albus warded his quarters. It affects him and would have affected Fawkes, except she is bonded to the castle, not the Headmaster. There were over a hundred, intelligent, loving spiders with Harry. Most stayed. Mated and ate the mated ones, as they are not Harry. The second year came with over two hundred, as they had taken over the garage rafters, the attic, and basement. Finding the wards extended to the house behind and to each side, they spread out.
The love from over a thousand loving spiders changed the thousand year old castle. It would not have, but Albus, I know best had played with the wards, so many times, that the Founders thoughts were perverted. Salazar had started to believe the Slytherin main thought. Not a lot, but a bit.
It would have been more, but Slughorn was not a Pureblood Tosser. Snape was a slave that was a half blood, so his thoughts and feelings were more that the powerful should keep those under them. This though had led to only those from powerful families not being initiated when they bled.
The Badgers of Hufflepuff had more pack thoughts, with a Matriarchal thought. Helga had been a bit submissive to Rowena and Godric. The spiders out numbering them, changed it to more like what the home spiders thought it. Their leader was God, but they did not quite understand it was Harry yet.
The Ravenclaws had it worst though. Filius being a half goblin always thought girls could be great, but must obey their mates. Rowena having being a bit kinky for such an age (remember vikings, girls screwed by lords before weddings, rape by soldiers and nobles common), she was a mild dominatrix of Helga, while completely under Godric's will. The only reason they liked Hufflepuffs and Slytherins was that Godric had been smart, cunning, brave, and loyal. Most of the current were not smart or cunning, let alone loyal. At least according the Rowena's will.
The Gryffindors of Harry's year were actually a very mixed lot. Ron-pureblood blood traitor, a lazy, no good jealous twit. Dean-Halfblood-known Squib and Pureblood, an artistic genius, that really only cared about art, being liked, and girls. Seamus-Pureblood, a typical stereotype Irish lad. High tempered, drunk, brash, and mommy's boy who went after girls for sex, until he finds one like mum. Harry-Halfblood?
