Awakening Part One

1 month after Zordon's sacrifice…

Earth

The Village of Hogsmeade

It had been a long time coming but for the first time in a long while, things were finally looking up. The mysterious golden wave that had passed through out the entire planet had not only decimated the alien invaders but also countless dark artefacts and more so, the energy of the wave had stripped many death eaters of their magic, including some of Lord Voldemort's inner circle, like Yaxley, Rosier and Rookwood. The verdict was still uncertain if Voldemort himself had been affected since other dark wizards like Lucius Malfoy and Gallert Grindelwald survived the wave, though they had been in the custody of high security wizarding prisons, which led many reporters and aurors to assume only those dark wizards who were actively attacking innocents had been affected.

Harry smiled contentedly, snuggling against Ginny, their arms intertwined, both of them pretending to be oblivious to Ron's glare.

As Ginny rested her head on his shoulders, he looked down at her. They were so close that he could hear her soft breathing. Their eyes met. He leaned his head against hers, closing his eyes as his lips parted when-

"Oye, that's my sister you're snogging!" Ron shouted, ruining the moment again. Ginny glared at her brother, her eyes twitching.

Harry sighed exasperatedly.

Hermione, from her seat beside Ron, lowered the issue of Witches' Weekly she was looking through, giving the pair a sympathetic smile.

The table between them seemed to be the only thing stopping Ginny from lunging at her brother.

"There are rules that prohibit Public Display of Affection, you know. As the prefect-"

"Oh, stop being a snob, Ron. We are not in Hogwarts and come to think of it, where were these rules during your make out sessions with Lavender in the common room?" Ginny said icily, smirking as his brother flushed.

"Did you forget about it, brother because we have not. It still gives us nightmares." She carried on.

"Ginny, please. This is a public place."

"And the Common room was not? Seeing you two made me regret winning the match."

"Ginerva, people are watching."

"Are there?" She looked around them, smirking as she saw couples all around them, too engrossed in each other to pay any heed to the four of them. "Because unless I am mistaken, everyone else is interested in their own business."

Ron was fuming while Harry and Hermione were shaking with silent laughter at their best friend being put in his place by his sister.

"So dear brother, please mind your own business or you'll get a dose of my Bat Bogey Hex right now."

"I cannot. I am your chaperone."

Ginny groaned. "What are we living in, the Dark Ages?"

Before the sibling squabble could continue, there was a crash and multiple screams from outside.

Everyone looked around warily. Harry stood up, drawing his wand. The last time they heard someone screaming in Hogsmeade, it was their friend Katie Bell, when she had came across a cursed necklace.

"We need to see what is going on." Harry said, heading for the door.

"Harry, wait!" Hermione called, the others following him just as the door was blasted open and what appeared to be three grey golems entered "The Three Broomsticks".

Outside they could see people disapparating as golems swarmed across the streets.

People started screaming inside the bar, some of them disapparating off while younger students huddled closer to each other, unsure of what to do.

"What in Merlin's baggy pants are going on?" Ron gawked at the golems.

"You kids need to get out of here." Madam Rosmerta rushed towards the creatures, running past them, shooting red sparks from her wand. Her spells hit the creatures but had no effect.

One of the golems grabbed her and threw her outside. She hit the streets, the impact knocking her unconscious and her wand rolled out of her hands. Several golems surrounded her.

"We need to help her!" Harry said.

"First we need to take care of these things." Ginny pointed at the three golems approaching them. The four of them backed away. As one of the creatures pounced at them, Hermione swung her wand.

"Wingardium Leviosa!" A table hovered in the air before colliding with the golems, pushing them out of the inn.

"Quick thinking, Hermione!" Ron heaved a sigh.

"Come on!" She urged, the four of them rushing out to the streets of the usually quaint village.

Turning back, Hermione raised her wand, giving the younger students an assuring smile. "Stay inside. We will keep you safe."

The third and fourth years nodded.

"Reparo!" She waved her wand and the splintered wood came together to form the door.

"Um, Hermione, I think you made them mad." Ron said, pointing at the squadron of golems surrounding them.

Harry's eyes widened as he suddenly noticed the 'Z' crests on the chests of the golems and the black stripes running along their arms. He was not the only one.

"They are putties!" Hermione realised. The last few weeks, the Daily Prophet had done extensive research into the Golden Wave and the events surrounding it, including the Power Rangers, costumed superheroes of the city Angel Grove and the various forces they have repelled over the years.

"What?" Ginny asked, narrowly dodging a punch by a golem.

"Hit them in the Z" Hermione instructed, pointing her wand at the 'Z' crest of one putty. "Bombarda!"

They watched as the golem crumbled to dust.

"Right." Harry nodded. "Reducto!"

Ginny and Ron followed their example and several golems were reduced to ashes but there were many more charging at them.

"Blimey! Where are all these things coming from!" Ron panted.

"We don't know but we can't take out all of them." Ginny told him.

"We need to finish them quickly." Hermione said, raising her wand. "Avis!"

A flock of sharp beaked birds emerged from the tip of her wand and drove towards the putties, hitting them at their 'Z' symbols. The witch watched with grim satisfaction as the last of the golems crumbled to dust.

She ran over to Madame Rosmerta. "Rennervate!"

As the colour returned to her face, the older witch inhaled deeply as Hermione helped her up.

"Thank you, you four." She told them with a smile. She bit her lips. "I should inform Professor Dumbledore."

They nodded.

"And the ministry too, I suppose." She added as an afterthought. "Though you four took care of it. Thank you again."

"It's what anyone would have done." Harry shrugged.

Madame Rosmerta seemed like she was about to argue.

"We should probably head back to Hogwarts." Hermione told her as they quickly bid her goodbye and headed down the streets.

"What were those things?"

"Oh Ronald, don't you ever read? The Daily Prophet was all over this for nearly a month." Hermione scolded him. "The putties were the henchmen of Rita Repulsa and the first forces who attacked Angel Grove."

"What the what now?"

"Hate to agree with my brother here, but even I am a bit lost." Ginny said.

"You don't know about Angel Grove?" Hermione asked. Angel Grove was quite possibly the most famous city in the entire world, following monster attacks and the appearance of superheroes.

"I do. I watched them on the telly sometimes. Uncle Vernon said something about them being hoaxes to boom tourism in the States or something, but I figured if magic can be real, aliens can be too?" Harry shrugged.

"See, Harry knows too! How can you guys not know?"

"Aliens, like things from outer space?" Ginny asked sceptically.

"Yeah, you sure you haven't been reading too much of the Quibbler?" Ron joked.

"Honestly, Ronald." Hermione rolled her eyes.

"To be honest, the wizarding world is distanced from rest of the world." Harry noted.

"But this was huge-"

"Even if they heard about it, do you think Fudge was going to admit that there were threats from outer space and more importantly, muggles with technology that can defeat monsters?" Harry pointed out. "If it weren't for the Golden Wave, we still would be in denial."

"You mean, all those gibberish in the Prophet was actually true?" Ginny asked. "I thought they were just saying nonsense-"

"No, this time, they did their proper research, though they did most of it from old muggle newspapers." Hermione admitted.

"You guys are for real!" Ron exclaimed; his eyes wide. "Aliens are real!"

Harry and Hermione nodded.

There was a clap, interrupting them.

They turned around to see a young blond lady with purple eyes in a pink sleeveless gown approach them.

"Well, they are real, sweetie." She said with an Australian accent. "And so are these!"

She snapped her fingers and a flock of humanoid birds with black feathers and purple beaks appeared before them.

"Tengas." Hermione narrowed her eyes. "Who are you and what are you doing here?"

"You can call me Katherine and as for why I am here, isn't that obvious?" She smirked, pointing at Harry. "I am here for him."

"Why are all the crazy folks after you, mate?" Ron asked.

Ginny glared at the woman. "Buzz off lady, he ain't going anywhere with you."

"Well if you don't surrender of your own free will, I will take you by force." Katherine drawled. "But by all means, resist. I haven't had any proper fun in eons!"

"Who are you?"

"Oh no sweetie, the real question is do you know who you are?" She giggled.

Hermione turned at Harry with a worried look. This Katherine exuded an aura of unpredictability and chaos. She reminded her of Bellatrix, except Katherine might be more unhinged than even her.

"We are not going to play your stupid mind games. We fought off your putties and I am pretty sure we can do the same with these overgrown crows. So back off, death eater!" Ron snarled at Katherine, pointing his wand at the tengas.

"Let's find out, shall we?" Katherine said with an eager gleam in her eyes. "And for your information Red, I am no death eater."

She snapped her fingers and the tengas took to the air, circling them from above before diving straight at them. Before the four could realise it, their wands had been wrestled from their hands and were in the talons of the tengas before they dropped them at Katherine's feet.

"You were saying?" She taunted them. "My tengas have fed on the flesh of wizards before. Harry dear, be a darling and come to you or I will make you watch as the tengas tear your friends apart limb by limb."

Harry looked at his friends, seeing his own fear reflected in their eyes.

"No." Hermione said to him as he stepped forwards. "Wait! You want me, take me. Don't hurt them."

"Smart choice. Admirable." Katherine smiled at him appraisingly, before nodding at the tengas. "Take him."

"Harry, no!" Ginny shouted, reaching for him.

"Ginny, it's going to be okay." He told her, not meeting her eyes, letting go of her hands.

Two tengas took hold of him while another held back Ginny, Ron and Hermione from coming after him. He could hear their pleas and screams. He closed his eyes. This was the right thing to do. They meant everything to him and he couldn't live with himself if anything happened to them.

"Now the fun begins!" Katherine twirled around in joy as the tengas shoved him at her feet.

He fell to the ground hard, his spectacles falling out.

"No need to be so rough. After all, he is instrumental to my plans." Katherine smiled at him as she bent down and picked up his glasses and gently put them back on his face.

Harry swatted her hand off as he backed away in disgust.

Katherine laughed in response. "You have your mother's eyes but you act exactly like your father."

"You knew them?" Harry faltered momentarily.

"Oh, you could say that!" Katherine smirked.

Suddenly, a shower of arrows poured down from the skies, cutting down most of the tengas, making them explode in black smoke.

Taking advantage of the distraction, Harry swiped the wands from the ground and ran back to his friends.

"What!" Katherine's nostrils flared as she turned around, her eyes wide on seeing two figures approaching them from the distance, one in green and the other in pink.

"NO!" She screamed. "Get them!"

At her command, all remaining tengas charged at the strangers.

Harry squinted at the newcomers, whose appearance became clearer as they came closer. Both were clad from head to toe in coloured armour. The green one held a dagger while the pink one had a bow.

Hermione gasped sharply.

"They are power rangers!"

And just like that, Harry was left utterly bewildered at the strange turn his life was taking once again… First, magic and wizards… now, aliens and superheroes!
