Chapter 2: Bite Of Mall Than He Could Chew
Tanso Kazuki - Age 15
"FUCKING! PIECE! OF! SHIT!" Tanso took out his frustration on the corrugated plastic which encased the old warehouse, punching with each word spoken. One finally woven fist broke through the wall. Tanso was pissed. On his way back to the warehouse Tanso walked by a tv store with tvs in the window. On the tvs was a showing of a recent villain attack. During the scuffle between the hero and villain, a billboard fell from a roof crushing a man to death. That man had pushed his wife and child out of the way to protect them and now they're traumatised. Now this could of been avoided if the fucking "hero" had instead prioritized the safety of civilians then her fucking ego. Her gum-like quirk was made for capturing villains quickly and instead she chose to take the fight outside. Even if it was just an accident the fight exited the building, she could have stuck the billboard with her quirk. In the end she stood proudly with the villain caught in her gum and gave some half-assed speech about how the man's death was avoidable. FUCK YEAH IT WAS AVOIDABLE YOU DUMB ATTENTION WHORE! Is what he said when he saw it on tv, catching a few weirded out looks from dudes, dudettes and those in between.
He deactivated his quirk and moved over to an old couch and laid down on it, placing his arm over his eyes. He took a deep breath and began to think. The whole thing with the video a year and half ago, kicked up some dust. There were tons of videos on the matter, talk shows where yapping about it and some heroes were even targeted. Though within six months it died down and now there's barely a mention of it.
Tanso found this warehouse while looking for a place to train and hideout from the media that wanted to interview him. It's old and abandoned and lately he's spent most of his days here, he hasn't even gone back to the orphanage in 2 weeks. He practically lives there.
The original plan for fixing this hero based society involved getting into U.A. and making it to the top number, showing everyone what a true hero is. But now… now that won't work. Even if he makes it to number one, what then? All Might is a great hero, he puts the civs first and the villains second. He would give his life for someone he doesn't even know. And what has that done for the other heroes? Inspire them to be better? Perhaps show the public what it means to be a hero? Nah. It just got people rilling for the top spot, like Endeavour.
What the fuck can he do? He's no politician and as time has proved his words are temporary. The only thing he's good at is fighting. "FUCK!" He shouted out of frustration and a lack of an answer. He's already signed up for U.A's entrance exam so… should he continue with his plan? Maybe an answer will show itself eventually? It's just in a few days and he has been working hard for it. Learning fighting moves and building his muscle, his quirk enhances strength sure, but it doesn't hurt to get more. Well actually it does, no pain no gain after all.
Speaking of his quirk. The incident with the truck brought something to Tanso's attention. The wound the truck made had healed, yes, but where it was, is now a large black scar in the shape of the crack, but that's not all. Because of the accident, his quirk has actually grown stronger, he's sure he could handle that truck and only gain a small crack if anything. This means that each time his shell is cracked, it hardens and toughens up. He can quite literally become invincible.
Even if U.A. doesn't workout, it will at least help train his quirk. He sighed and sat up, placing his feet on the floor. He brushed back his hair from his eyes, he dyed it recently to have large green tips. No reason specifically, he just thought it looked cool. He also let it grow, it now reaches his upper back. He stood up and grabbed his black denim jacket. "U.A. it is…" He wasn't content at any means but it's all he could think of without going straight up villain and hunting down the heroes. He's thought about it though. "I need a place to cool off. The underground mall's arcade should still be open." With his destination set he began his march to the place of recreation.
…
The sound of clicking buttons, jiggling joy sticks and sounds of victory and defeat alike laced the air. It was so loud, Tanso couldn't make out a single word. There were all kinds of arcade machines, from shooters to racers, from dancing to controller based, all manner of games made their homes here. A lot of them were made with a hero's likeness, some even had villains on them. Tanso wasn't sure if that was even legal, but hey, they haven't been sued yet.
He walked around the neon lit arcade, the soft blue carpeted floor stopping any sound of footsteps. He was looking for something specific, a boxing machine. Last time he was here he broke it, apparently it couldn't take his quirk. If they had replaced it then he needed to set a new high-score. "Ah ha!" He said spotting his game. As he got closer he noticed some words on the machine, the read. Herculean boxer! Can handle the force of a tank shell! That got him to smirk. He was going to set a new high-score alright. The current high-score was 7376.
With a ka chink he inserted the required ammount of yen and the punching bag came out of its hidey hole. He readjusted his sunglasses, perfectly catching the glare of the neon lights. He then reeled back his right fist, placed a claw shaped hand in front of his fist. Abyssal weave activated and his whole body was coated in its blackened weave. His eye's sharpened, he took a deep breath and gathered all of his strength. As he prepared his punch a small crowd gathered and began to whisper, he ignored them and focused on his punch. Once again he smirked this time showing teeth. He opened his mouth and yelled, "HAAAAA!" He released his fist as it shot towards the bag. As it made contact, the bag exploded in foam and synthetic leather as it was smashed back into its hidey hole. Luckily the machine's scoring didn't break. As the numbers continued to rise rapidly, the crowd began to OOO which slowly rose to a cheer as it broke past the current high-score. Tanso smirked and adjusted his glasses once again, releasing his quirk. *DING DING DING DING DING!* The crowd broke out into cheers that could put a stadium to shame. The score read 31493.
The loud cheering brought the arcade's manager to the scene. "What is going on here then?" His smile and interest soon turned to shock and horror. "WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED!?" He quickly turned to face Tanso who kept his eyes on the machine.
"It said it could take a tank shell, so I punched it." His mouth was agape in surprise. He looked around to the other kids who all nodded.
The owner wanted to be furious but he couldn't, he was too impressed. Actually, now that he has a better look, Tanso seems familiar to him. Oh right. He slammed his fist down in his hand. This was the same kid that broke the last machine. After he completely smashed that one to pieces, he kicked him out and replaced it a few weeks later. This one was made to take strength enhancing quirks just in case it happened again. He looked back at Tanso who was now looking at him. "Can you stop breaking my machines?"
"Honestly. I thought It could take my quirk this time." Tanso shrugged.
The owner raised an eyebrow, as if he deduced something important. "This time?"
The owner rubbed the back of his head in exhaustion. He was already exhausted and he just started talking to the kid. "Ok look. I can't stay mad at the fact you broke my machine. It's too impressive, so I'm going to give you a prize as long as you don't break anything else around here. Stay here." The owner left Tanso in a confused state. Hey, at least somebody recognised his superiority. A few minutes later the owner came back with something in his hand. "Here, take it." In his hand was a small golden token sporting the arcades symbol in it.
Tanso reached out and grabbed the token. "What is it?" He asked.
"We use these to test the games for free. It allows you to play the games here for free."
He flipped the token high in the air and with a swift wave of his hand he caught it. "Thanks. I'll take care of it."
"And no more breaking my machines." The owner crossed his arms and gave Tanso a serious yet not too serious of a look.
"Yeah yeah. I hear you. I won't need to punch anything else here anyway, ain't no way that scores being beat." He says with a smug grin. Before leaving to play other games, he turned back to the machine and imputed a name for his score. Undefeatable.
The few hours were spent playing a load of different games, reusing his token each time.
Afterwards though he began getting hungry and decided to get some fast food then head back to the warehouse. A Jr' Donald's wasn't far and he could go for some nuggies. He used the money he saved from using the token, on his dinner. He ate in the restaurant as his makeshift home was a distance away.
After he finished eating, he checked his phone for the time as it's hard to tell when you're in an underground mall. 18:07. It had gotten quite late and the mall had started to close, evident by the lack of people around, apart from the occasional small family or lone warrior. As he placed his phone back in his pocket, the whole mall began to shake violently. Screams of fear overtook the cheery talks of before. The mall suddenly lost power and the emergency safety systems activated, slamming metal doors shut and trapping Tanso in the dark. The shaking didn't stop though, as the floor crumbled beneath him. He tried to grab on to something but he quickly lost his balance as he then started to fall.
Floor after floor he fell, smashing through them thanks to his quirk and the integrity of the structure. Finally he stopped falling as he hit the bottom floor, debris falling on him as he created a small crater. "Fuck me! What the fuck was that!" He was unharmed but not unshaken. He pushed himself up and gave himself a once over just in case, he spotted nothing but dirt. It was pitchblack down here. As he moved, the floor made a metallic sound, as if he was stepping on a metal floor. He reached for his phone swiped down from the top to get his gadgets, he pressed the torch and the room lit up some.
The torch illuminated the surrounding area. He was indeed standing on a metal floor and lined up against the back were forklifts and boxes. He was in a storage area of sorts, yet were the employees? He just hopes they got out safely or maybe to a bunker of some kind. He began wandering the staff only area, perhaps he could find a backup generator or something around here. His shoes klanked on the floor as the light waved around the area on the lookout for anything important. There was rubble and large bits of rock laying on the floor, no corpses or blood though. Again, there was no sign of anyone being here.
While Tanso doesn't frighten easily, he was creeped out by the ambience and lack of life. The darkness mixed with the creaking of the pained building gave this whole experience a horror game vibe. Like any minute a deformed monster from your worst nightmares will just appear, but not before you are told to press "shift to sprint" Tanso chuckled a little at the thought. He stepped over rubble and pushed some fallen boxes out of the way. Eventually he came to a set of wooden doors. He tried to open them but found it locked. Stepping bag he raised a foot and slammed it into the doors. The slammed open and inside appeared to be a small staff recreational area. Probably where they hangout down here.
Tables were smashed to pieces and chairs lay abandoned on their asses. Oddly enough there was a smell, it wasn't the usual collapsed building smell either. It kinda smelled like a pizza party, actually, as he pointed the light at the walls, he noticed cheese and tomato sauce on the walls, as well as various toppings. "What the fuck… Were they having a pizza party down here?" He thought to himself. He exited the room via a door to the left of the entrance. Through that door was a thinner corridor. Looking to the right, there were more wooden doors, to the left however had a room titled, SECURITY. "What are the odds there's a backup gen in there?" He asked fate. Fate did not respond.
He opened the door and came face to face with a room of monitors and controls for said monitors. Swinging his phone around the room illuminated a very convenient generator. "Apparently 100%". It was large and blue and in the security room for some reason. Walking up to it Tanso realised he had no idea how to work this thing. "Uhhhh… Okay… What button do I press." They were all grey. "Fuck it." He slammed his hand on the top of the generator, somehow turning it on. He stood back as dim lights turned on and he admired his work. "Violence is the answer for all of life's problems. Don't know how to use a gen, punch it. Bullies? Punch 'em. Anger issues? Punch 'em."
To his right, the monitors turned on. On them were views from cameras all over the mall. In some of them there were civs wandering the halls and some even stuck under rubble. There were also corpses of men, women and even children. However, there was also a hero that had entered the mall. "Least you jackasses are good for something." He muttered. As he leaned on the desk, he brushed his hand by some papers. He glanced down at them, giving them a quick skim. "What…" He didn't not like what he was reading, he picked them up and gave it a closer look. It was a letter. Everything could pretty much be summed up by what was written at the bottom.
"I Rock'em Sock'em, Hereby agree to the collapsing of the mall. This will favour both parties, as I Rock'em Sock'em will be here on the scene first to increase my renown. The mall will benefit via Insurance Fraud." His signature was written in red pen while everything else was written in black.
"WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS!" Tanso was understandably pissed, no no, he was more than pissed, he was an erupting volcano of pissed. "PEOPLE FUCKING DIED FOR YOU FUCKING FAME AND FORTUNE!" Tanso nearly ripped the paper in two but was able to stop himself. He WILL bring this up top and show the people what their fucking heroes do for fame. This is unforgivable and he will take revenge.
It took him thirty more minutes to find the stairs and another ten just to climb them. "Fucking stairs…" He said between breaths of air. One more set of stairs stood in his way and he was fucking ecstatic, he could hear the camera rolling and the mic picking up a heroes voice. He began to ascend the last set with a scowl on his face.
Rock'em Sock'em was being interviewed when Tanso came into view of the camera. The reporter doing the reporting noticed him. "Sir Rock'em Sock'em, there's another survivor." Rock'em looked behind himself, his jagged rock armour forcing him to turn with his feet and not his waist and head. Noticing the boy, Rock'em Sock'em took this chance to further his renown. With the camera focused on the boy, Rock'em quickly feigned care.
"Young boy! Are you alri-" He was quickly shut up as Tanso kick his right leg out causing him to fall to one knee, he then slammed his blackened fist straight into Rock'em Sock'em's rock covered face, smashing the rock to pieces and slamming his head into the pavement, breaking his face. Rock'em couldn't do anything but groan in pain. The crowd gasped in shock. A very pissed expression was spread across Tanso's face.
"Rock'em Sock'em!" The reporter was stunned, she and her cameraman kept their distance from the violent kid, in fear of what he may do. But what he did shocked everyone.
He pulled out a folded piece of paper from his pocket and held it up for all to see. "THIS HERE IS WHY I SMASHED THAT BASTARDS FACE IN!" He held it out for the reporter to take, "go right ahead, better yet, read it into the mic."
She hesitantly took the paper and unfolded it, she began to read it silently first.
"Out loud." Tanso said, intimidating the reporter. She then proceeded to read the letter out loud for all to hear. The more she read the more Tanso grew to like the expressions on their faces, especially the look on the broken one laying in the ground. Terror was what he saw.
"This is…" The reporter showed the paper to the camera once she was done reading it.
"I found it in the security room. Fun fact, the mall staff had celebrated with a pizza party." That wasn't a fun fact at all. "This is exactly the problem with heroes these days. Anything to get their name out there!" He began to point at the fallen hero. "THIS HERE IS YOUR HERO PEOPLE! SCUM LIKE THIS PROTECT YOU! AND THEY SELL YOU OUT! THERE ARE DEAD PEOPLE AND CHILDREN IN THAT MALL AND HE KILLED THEM!" The crowd was visibly horrified. Tanso was about to continue when black car pulled up and out rushed a lady in a black suit.
"HOLD IT!" She shouted while making her way to Tanso. He knew who this lady was, she was seen on tv regularly defending heroes. She works in the business side of heroes. You know, advertisements, getting new heroes in and cover ups. It was her which actually killed the aftermath of the video from a year and half ago, a whole load of charity and shit. This was his mortal enemy, Karen Yaguwa. "THIS MAN IS A LIAR!" She bellowed her voice.
"It's written proof with his fucking signature. How is it a lie?" He gritted his teeth in frustration.
"It's clearly forged." Vein popped. "Things like these can be forged by anyone nowadays." The crowd simultaneously all went ohhh they were buying her BULLSHIT! "Would Rock'em Sock'em, the man who donated to that baby cancer charity, really do this?" More bullshit, well he did do that but not out of the kindness of his heart. Fucking crowd ate it up like cake at a party though. Yaguwa then turned her attention back to Tanso. "This is the same kid that denounced heroes over a year ago. It would make sense that he would forge this as well, not to mention his violent tendencies." Tanso was pretty sure his eyes were going bloodshot. "Well? What do you have to say for yourself?"
Oh he wanted to shout, he really wanted to shout and swear and beat this bitch to a bloody pulp. He'll certainly do two of those things, the third will have to wait. "You are all a bunch oF FUCKING DUMBASSES! I GIVE YOU THE EVIDENCE AND YOU BELIEVE SOME BITCH FROM THE GOVERNMENT!? THE GOVERNMENT HAVE COVERED UP TONS OF SHIT BEFORE, THIS IS NO DIFFERENT! OPEN YOU FUCKING EYES!" He didn't even realise that he took a hostile stance, his bloodshot eyes were hidden by his sunglasses yet the crowd still felt terrified from the stance alone, like a beast ready to pounce. "AHHHHH!" He screamed in frustration and stamped off down an alley, leaving the crowd in awe.
…
Tanso was punching a garbage bin and screaming profanities. "FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK!" He didn't activate his quirk so he didn't completely destroy his punching bag. "Fucking dumbasses can't think for themselves! IT WAS FUCKING OBVIOUS! AHHHH!"
"I quite agree." A voice came from behind Tanso causing him to whip his neck backwards. Standing there was a purple misty man, dressed in a vest and tie.
"Who the fuck are you." He tried his best not to shout, barely managing to keep it in.
"A fan of sorts and so is my master." Master? This guy works for someone. "Infact, my master would like to make your acquaintance. Will you honour him with your presence?"
"You expect me to just trust some misty jackass who approached me from behind in an alley?" He crossed his arms and calmed down, sensing he was bad news.
"Ah, I suppose I should introduce myself then. My name is Kurogiri. While I cannot say my masters name, I can assure you we all want the same thing here." He replied.
"And what exactly do we want?" Tanso didn't take his eyes off of him.
"To tear down heroes, is it not?"
Tanso gave a toothy smirk, he could see his goal clearly anymore, he hated heroes, the government and those that blindly follow them. His goal has been warped beyond recognition. "And your boss or master or whatever wants the same thing?" He loosened his stance.
"Indeed."
"Alright, I'll bite. Take me to him."
"Very well." Kurogiri began to spiral into a misty portal, surprising Tanso. "Please, enter." With a hmf, he did as he was asked and walked through the mist. Coming face to face, well maybe face to face was the wrong way to describe it.
Sitting in front of him in a chair, hooked up to various machines was a man missing his upper face, leaving only his mouth. He wore a suit and spoke with a sense of superiority. "Welcome, Tanso Kazuki." Tanso felt like he was in front of a god, he had to resist the urge to kneel down before him.
He sorted himself out before greeting him. "Ah, I see you already know my name."
"Indeed. Who wouldn't know about you, after all, you did denounce heroes publicly." He got him there, they did release his name after Toma gave it to the news. Fucking Toma, who gave you permission todo that. Right, the fucking government. Fucking government.
"I hear we share a similar goal, the destruction of this hero society." Tanso removed his sunglasses and hung them on his shirt, it was too dark in here. His bloodshot eyes practically glowed with hate.
The man smiled at this. "This hero based society is nothing but lies." Something Tanso agreed with. "For years I shared the same ideal as you, however, the public did not agree. The only way to show the public is through violence." Violence is the answer to a lot of life's problems. Now's he's regretting not using the answer on that bitch from before
"Where do I come in?" Tanso asked.
"It's simple really, you along with another will show this world the darkside of heroes. Together you will tear down the veil covering its eyes. We may be villains, but we are a necessary evil." There was something about this man, something that made Tanso want to trust him.
"So in other words, commit crimes and kick hero ass."
The man laughed, "putting it simply, yes. Though these will be more than petty crimes."
"Figured that."
"So, what is your answer? Will you join me?" He held out a hand.
Tanso stopped and thought for a moment before smirking a toothy grin. "Y'know what? Fuck it! Someone has to open their eyes." He grabbed the man's hand in a firm grip.
"Welcome to the team, Kaz-"
"Undefeatable."
"I'm sorry?" The man was confused.
"My name. Call me Undefeatable."
"Very well, Undefeatable, welcome to the team. You may call me, All For One."
Oh damn, who would have thunk it? You probably, it's in the bloody description thingy. Anyway, things will start to get more interesting. There may be another chapter before things reach the start of the anime, so sit tight. BTWs, I got some comments I want to reply to.
A Friendly Dude - "Yooo thanks for the chapter wonderful thank you."
Glad you liked it, hope this chapter was to your liking as well.
THE-Twilight-BlazeKnight - "A whole lotta stuff I aint typing out."
I'm glad you're liking Tanso Kazuki, if things go as sorta planned, then he's going on a bumpy ride. Hope you stick with him.
As for the romance option with Mina. I can see where you're coming from. Her energetic personality and her outgoing nature could definitely crack through his Abyssal Weave in time. Plus her cheery and friendly nature is just what he needs. I'll give it some more thought.
EternalEmperorDmitri - "Good work so far but as for romance options since if you're still having Tanso be serving under All for One wouldn't it make it simpler for Toga to be the romance option since they would be spending more time together story wise."
I do see where you're coming from, however, if I do choose Toga then she'll definitely have to change for the plans I got cooking. Of course the change would happen over time but change is change and I'm not sure how I feel about that. If you want I'll be glad to have her go yandere over him, I have been thinking about that too so either way it will probably happen.
That's all for the comments of chapter 2 - 15/11/22
There was one in chapter 1 written by GutlessMammal So I'll just quickly say that I will try for regular updates, though with school it may be every few days or even once a week. I will try.
Well I got to go, hope you enjoyed and farewell.
Luv ya you procrastinators!
