Once we were there we got to work evacuating people as quickly as we could.
"Thought you could use some help." Turning around I saw the new Howling Commandos and smiled.
"Thank you for coming. Work on getting everyone out of here as fast as you can. Be safe and do all you can to stay on the down low. The others have no idea you are here and it will be easier if we don't need to worry about that right now."
"Will do, you be safe as well. Here's a com for us so you can talk to us. Just touch your ear and you will only talk to us and not the Avengers."
"Thank you, David. Now all of you watch your backs." I head off to get more people out as they go to do the same.
I was working on getting people out when robots started coming out of nowhere.
"Keep going, run, get out of here," I tell the people as they start to run.
When the ground starts to shake I know it is about to go from bad to worse. Making my way to the edge I watch a large part of the City start to lift up.
We keep going higher and I work on clearing people away from the edges.
People are scared and I listen as Steve tells us to tear them apart. Touching my comms to the others I speak.
"Start getting people to the buildings away from the edge. I think it is time to see where our backup is. We need to be able to get people off this rock."
"On it. I will see where they are."
"Thanks, Bells."
Going back to the other comms I talked to the Avengers.
"Nat are you and Bucky here?"
"We are here with Steve."
"I'm on my way."
I head to the others and walk to where Nat and Bucky are talking to Steve.
"Where else am I gonna get a view like this?"
"Glad you like the view, Romanoff. It's about to get better." Then Fury shows up in the helicarrier.
"Nice right? Pulled her out of mothballs with a couple of old friends. She's dusty, but she'll do."
"Fury you son of a bitch."
"Ooh! You kiss Rebekah with that mouth?" I smile but get ready to get people off.
Pietro comes running up to us.
"This is SHIELD?"
"This is what SHIELD is supposed to be."
"This is not so bad."
"Let's load them up."
We go to get people and I see Rhody and dad flying around keeping the robots from leaving.
As the boats land, we start to load as many people on as fast as we are able to.
"Thor I got a plan."
"We're out of time. They're coming for the core."
"Rhodey, Rebekah, get the rest of the people on board that carrier."
"On it."
"No one left behind."
"Avengers, time to work for a living."
The Avengers all head off to fight Ultron and I work with Rhody and the others to get everyone on the boats.
"Do we have them all Beks?"
"I think so, everyone do one more sweep. Make sure we have not missed anyone."
Walking around the building I take out the robots that are left in the area as I look for anyone that may be left.
As I watch the last of the people loading the boat I hear someone crying for their mom.
Looking around I see a little boy alone crying. Running over I pick him up and head to the boat. I see Clint walking to the boat. When he sees me. I quickly make my way to him when I see Ultron coming our way on the Quinjet. Passing the boy to Clint I pulled out my gun and shot at it. I watch as it crashes into the ground and Clint looks at me.
"That is some pent-up anger."
"You have no idea. Let's get everyone on the boat." I see Pietro come up to us and as we walk onto the boat the ground starts to fall.
"I need to get my sister."
"Is anyone still on the rock, Wanda is still on there?"
"I will get her." I hear Vision say.
Once we are on the Helicarrier I see all of the others already there other than dad, Thor, Vision, and Wanda.
Steve walks over to me and looks at me.
"Are you alright?"
"I'm good, I promise. How are you?"
"I will be fine."
"Are you sure, because you look a little hurt?"
"I promise this is nothing."
I let him pull me into him and hold onto him as I look over to Nat who is in Bucky's arms and see Clint talking to Pietro and Wanda who hugged as Vision sat her down before he flew off.
"Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought I saw Bells," Nat said to me as I pulled away from Steve so we could all go inside. Nat had helped Bruce turn back to Bruce and we were all walking in.
"You did"
"Why is she here?" Clint asked.
"They all are."
"So you called in backup?"
"There were robots, flying cities, and a lot of other things happening. Yes, I called in backup."
"Who is Bells?" Bucky asked.
"She's one of my friends who works for SHIELD, the new one, the one I have been helping to run. She is also Peggy's granddaughter."
"She has a granddaughter that is in SHIELD?"
"Kind of, she is more of a new version of the Howling Commandos with the others."
"What?" Steve asked me.
"Peggy and the others thought that it would be good to carry on the Howling Commandos so they formed a new group as they got too old to do it themselves. Once that group was older the grandkids of the originals took over. There is David, Kara, me, then Sam, and Bells who are Peggy's grandkids. There was also Trip that I told you about but he passed not too long ago."
"You didn't tell me that."
"I know Nat, a lot was going on and we were trying to clean up the Hydra mess and it was a lot. But I was not alone. The others were there and Mel was working with him at the time so she was there. As well as others. I just didn't know how to bring it up when everything was just kind of a mess at the moment and I didn't want to add any more than what you and everyone else were dealing with at the time."
"You went through losing one of your best friends and still kept doing everything you were doing. Rebekah, I'm so sorry."
"It is not your fault Nat. I'm not mad at anyone other than Hydra who was behind his death. None of you would have been able to do anything at all. But if you are worried about me, don't be because I promise you all I am not about to fall apart. I promised him and everyone else that if it got to be too much I would say something but I am doing alright."
"I didn't realize he was one of your friends from that side."
"I know Steve, I didn't go into a lot of detail when I told you about all of them. I was wanting you to be able to meet all of them. But even though it is not how I planned I know all of the others would be happy to meet you and you as well Bucky. They have asked me a lot to introduce them to both of you. We heard a lot of stories growing up and they want more."
"Well, we have stories," Bucky answers me.
"So you all want to meet them?"
"Let's do it."
I take them all to meet the others who are all excited to meet them and as they are dad and Thor shows up, they know dad but Bells and Kara were excited to meet Thor.
I was just ready for some downtime.
The next Two weeks were busy with dad opening up the new Avengers facility and placing the tower for sale, which was annoying on my part after all of the work I put into it all.
Things had been going well overall though. We sent help to Sokovia and were helping them to rebuild what they had lost.
Wanda, Pietro, and Vision were settling in and everyone had rooms at the new place.
Thor was getting ready to head home and find out some information about the stones and what might be going on and the rest of us were working on Avenger things and working on getting things ready with all of the new recruits.
I reached out to Mel who told me a lot had happened there and that we would need to meet up soon so we could talk it all through which had me slightly worried but I also knew that things would be alright with all of them taking care of things there.
I was going over some files at a counter when Nat walked in.
"How are you doing?"
"Not too bad, how are you?"
"Better, James has been helping a lot."
"I'm glad you found each other again. You both are so much happier when the other is around."
"Thank you"
"You're in love with him?"
"I am. At first, I was not sure if it just felt familiar or what, but now I realize that I have been in love with him for a very long time."
"I am so happy for you Nat. You both deserve to be happy as well."
"Do you know?"
"About?"
"What he did as the Winter Soldier?"
"Yes, I'm not mad at him. That was Hydra and how can I blame him for something that he would never have done if it was not for Hydra."
"Does your dad know?"
"Not yet, but I will tell him. I have no idea what the best way to tell him will be."
"I don't know, but it probably would be best coming from you. You would be able to calm him down when no one else is able to."
"I know don't worry, I will tell him. Now come on, I think we have some new recruits to work with." I went off to get things ready while Nat went to talk to Clint.
Meanwhile Steve and Tony walked with Thor talking about the Hammer and Vision. They walk him out.
"Besides this one, there's nothing that can't be explained."
They watch Thor leave before Tony turns to Steve.
"That man has no regard for lawn maintenance. I'm gonna miss him, though. And you're gonna miss me. There's gonna be a lot of manful tears." Tony starts his car and they are walking to where the vehicle meets them.
"I will miss you, Tony. So will Rebekah."
"Yeah? Well, it's time for me to tap out. Maybe I should take a page out of Barton's book. Build Pepper a farm, hope nobody blows it up. Rebekah will visit."
"The simple life."
"You'll get there one day."
"What, family, stability… I thought the guy who wanted all that went in the ice 75 years ago. I think someone else came out. But Rebekah has changed a lot for me."
"She will do that to you."
"Tony, I want to know how you would feel if I asked her to marry me?"
"I never thought she would ever meet someone good enough for her. I never thought I would like you. But you make her happier than I have seen her in an extremely long time.
You make her laugh and bring out the best in her. All I have ever wanted for her is for her to be happy. While I don't like the idea of giving my little girl away, I really can't think of anyone better for her. I know you will love her and keep her safe. That everything you do would be for her and what is best for her. I trust my daughter with you in a way that I never have with anyone else before. I know that there is no one who loves her more and that she loves more. So if you are asking for my daughter's hand the answer is yes Steve. I know you would give her the life she wants to live and so much more."
"I plan on always giving her that life. Though I don't think it will be the same one she lives in now."
"I think she will be alright with it. After all, she has never been a fan of the spotlight."
Getting in the car he looks at Steve once more.
"Look after my little girl, and make sure to tell me when you plan to ask. I want to be the first to know."
"Will do Tony, and thank you." Tony drives off and Steve heads inside to find Natasha.
"You wanna keep staring at the wall, or do you want to go to work? I mean it's a pretty interesting wall."
"I thought you and Tony were still gazing into each other's eyes. How do we look?"
"Well, we're not the '27 Yankees."
"We got some hitters."
"They're good. They're not a team."
"Let's beat them into shape."
They head in to meet with Rebekah and the new recruits so they can start to train them. "Avengers…"
