"I miss Lapras." Wally sighed, wringing out his shirt.
"Easy Wally." Brendan said. "Ash finally found someone who isn't cryptic to teach him about his aura, I wish I could find someone like that for my magic."
"I know, it's just Lapras was a bit of a drier ride. Where exactly are we anyways?" Wally asked.
"Looks like three island." Brendan said, looking at Ash's Pokegear. "We should look here for our next ally."
"You think they'll be here?" Wally asked.
"No clue, but Swampert needs a break." Brendan said. "So let's take a look around the town."
"I'm telling you my daughter came this way and she still hasn't come back!" A distressed man said.
"Sir, I understand, but we have the town on high alert." An Officer Jenny said. "She wouldn't have gotten out of town without us noticing."
"What's going on?" Brendan asked, walking up.
"My daughter, she came here to get me berries for my lunch and she never returned." The man said.
"Berries, I didn't know those were common here." Brendan said.
"The forest on the far end of the island is lush and full of berries." Officer Jenny informed. "But I can't let you two go there, it's too dangerous."
"We can handle ourselves." Brendan said, pulling out his Frontier Symbol case, showing four symbols.
"He also won the Minor League in Hoenn." Wally said.
"It's not that." Officer Jenny said. "The forest is home to some Hypno, they like to play pranks and have been reported to take captives from time to time. I would recommend she stays behind for her own safety."
"I'm a guy!" Wally argued.
"Sorry sir." Officer Jenny said.
"You said Hypno, the psychic type right?" Brendan asked, changing the subject back to what it was.
"Yes, are you familiar with them?" Officer Jenny asked.
"Not overly, but we both have dark type Pokemon, so we shouldn't have to many problems against them." Brendan said.
"I hate to ask this of you, but we could use the help." Officer Jenny said, grabbing her radio. "North Gate, this is the port Jenny, coming in."
"North Gate, what's the problem?" A voice over the radio said.
"I'm sending two trainers your way to look for a missing child in Berry Forest." Officer Jenny said. "Two males, one dressed in light colors with green hair, and one dressed in blue with white hair."
"Copy that." The voice said.
"You're all set." Officer Jenny said.
"It's a hat!" Brendan argued, as Wally dragged him off.
At the north gate
"Alright you two are cleared." A man said. "Be careful out there."
"Thanks, any advice for out there?" Wally asked.
"Watch your backs." The man said. "Those woods are not friendly to strangers."
"How are woods not friendly to strangers? They're woods." Wally commented.
"Just don't think about it too much." Brendan said.
A while later, Brendan and Wally made it to the outside of the Berry Woods, with Shiftry and Cacturne standing next to their trainers at the ready.
"Okay let's keep close to each other, I don't want one of us getting lost or worse in here." Brendan said.
"Right, Cacturne be ready, we have no idea how fast these Hypno are, just look for anything big and yellow." Wally said.
Shiftry leapt from tree to tree, not dropping a single leaf as he landed, looking out for anything coming towards his trainer. Meanwhile Cacturne took a much calmer approach, staying next to Wally, keeping at the same pace as the two trainers.
"LITTLE GIRL!" Brendan called out. "YOUR DAD IS WORRIED ABOUT YOU!"
"Why didn't we learn her name?" Wally asked.
"I don't know, and I feel like that's an important oversight on our part." Brendan admitted.
"Brendan." Wally said, pointing in the distance. "What is that?"
Brendan and Wally rushed forward, to see a basket full of berries, on top of a stump.
"Best guess that this wasn't left here for wild Pokemon." Brendan said.
"Shift!" Shiftry said, landing nearby.
"What is it Shiftry?" Brendan asked.
"Shift!" Shiftry said, pointing towards a cave a ways up a stony cliff.
"Is someone in there?" Brendan asked.
"Shift!" Shiftry said.
"Alright, can you give me a lift?" Brendan asked, as he was lifted towards the cave.
"Brendan?" Wally called out. "Cacturne can't do that." Wally pointed out. "Brendan?"
Inside the cave
"Little girl who came here to get berries for her dad, are you in here?" Brendan asked, making his way through the cave.
"Hyp. Noooo."
"Shiftry I don't think we're alone." Brendan said, looking into a room. "One Hypno is guarding the girl, we've got this Wally." Brendan whispered, turning around. "Wally? Of course he went missing as soon as we got here."
"Hyp. Noooo."
Brendan felt a sudden wave of nausea fall over him as soon as he turned around.
"Shift!" Shiftry said, striking the Hypno.
"Thanks Hypno, that was close." Brendan said, straightening back up. "Use Feint Attack!"
Shiftry leapt forward, sending the wild Hypno tumbling backwards. Only for the psychic type to stop, and then launch back at Shiftry, slamming its head into the grass type.
"Shiftry use Leaf Storm!"
Shiftry flapped it's fans, coating Hypno in leaves as it worked at getting a clear shot, only to come face to face with Swampert.
"Swampert use Hydro Cannon!"
Swampert opened his mouth, unleashing a jet stream of water that blasted Hypno into a wall, even breaking away some of the rocky surface.
"Alright, now Pokeball go!" Brendan called out.
'Ding Ding Ding.'
"No time to celebrate, let's get you out of here." Brendan said, lifting the girl onto his back.
Back outside the cave
"Cacturne use another Needle Arm! Flygon use Crunch!" Wally called out.
"Wally, there you are, why'd you leave me?" Brendan asked as he slid down the slope.
"You left me, Cacturne can't jump like Shiftry." Wally countered.
"You could've use Flygon, but whatever, I got the little girl, let's get out of here before any more Hypno show up." Brendan said.
"Yeah, we've been handling them." Wally said, looking at the piles of Hypno surrounding him.
"Wow, and I almost got whammies by the one." Brendan admitted. "No matter, let's move."
Back in the village
"Sir, we found your daughter." Brendan said, setting the girl down as she was waking up.
"Lostelle!" The man cried out. "How many times have I told you not to go in those woods!"
"Sorry daddy, I was just trying to get you something yummy for your lunch." The little girl apologized.
"It's alright sweetie, I'm not angry." The man said. "And you two if there's anything I can do to thank you, just name it."
"We could actually use some money for supplies." Wally admitted, only to get elbowed. "What we're broke!"
"We shouldn't ask for money." Brendan scolded.
"I can't give you much, but I can give you a dinner at my house on two island if you'd like." The man said.
"Wait two island?" Brendan asked.
"Yes, why do you need to go there?" The man asked.
"No, we were just there, but if you see a boy around our age with black hair and a Pikachu, let him know his friends are doing alright." Brendan said.
"Of course, I will let him know as soon as I see him." The man said.
