On the shore of Four Island

"Brrr." Wally shivered, as he dried off. "I hope Ash's training is worthwhile."

"Look, Swampert needs a break before we can keep going, so for now let's see what there is to do here." Brendan said, checking Swampert's Pokeball.

"We aren't hurting him, are we?" Wally asked.

"No, he's just not used to this much swimming with people yet." Brendan admitted. "But with Team Rocket out there, we can't just sit around to wait for Ash and Lapras."

"What about Tentacruel, surely just the two of us could use him as well." Wally admitted.

"Hey Wally." Brendan said.

"I know, I know, I can't be picky about this." Wally sighed. "I'm sorry."

"Actually I was just curious, why haven't you caught a water type?" Brendan asked.

"I, I don't know. I guess I just never found the right one." Wally admitted.

"Well, maybe a water type for you is one of the allies we're looking for." Brendan said. "And then Swampert would be able to help in battle if we get in a jam."

"Great idea, now if we could only find water." Wally joked.

"First thing first, Ash always says to go to a Pokemon Center when we get to a new town." Brendan said.

At the Pokemon Center

"Hello and welcome to the Pokemon Center." The active Nurse Joy said.

"Hi, can I get my Swampert looked at?" Brendan asked. "Just to make sure he hasn't hurt himself."

"Of course." Nurse Joy said. "A Swampert, don't see too many of them out here."

"Is that going to be a problem?" Brendan asked.

"Not at all." Nurse Joy said. "I've worked with plenty before now, he'll be just fine."

"Okay Brendan, I found a spot with a bit calmer of waters that we can look for another water type for me." Wally commented.

"Of are you hoping to catch a water type?" Nurse Joy asked, handing Swampert's Pokeball to a Chansey.

"Umm, yeah, is that a problem?" Wally asked in confusion.

"No problem at all, but if you're going to the pond on the east side, there is a cave at the far end of it." Nurse Joy said. "It's a bit colder in there, but you'll have a stronger selection of Pokemon to pick from."

"Thanks Nurse Joy." Wally said. "We'll keep that in mind." He added, pushing Brendan out the door.

"Wally, even I know we aren't going the right way. Where are you dragging me?" Brendan asked.

"Like I said, to catch me a water type." Wally said.

"But Nurse Joy said to look east." Brendan said.

"And I saw some Pokemon out this way." Wally said, stopping in front of a cliff.

"What is that climbing up here?" Brendan asked.

"It's not doing great at climbing." Wally said, pulling out his Pokédex.

'Quagsire, the Water Fish Pokemon, a Water and Ground type. This carefree Pokemon has an easy-going nature. While swimming, it always bumps into boat hulls.'

"And apparently not that bright." Brendan said, seeing the Quagsire, trying to bite down on a rock to help him climb.

"But he is big." Wally admitted. "And probably strong enough to carry someone."

"So how are you going to get to… and you already have Flygon getting him." Brendan remarked, watching the dragon effortlessly lift Quagsire up the cliff side, the rock still in it's mouth.

"Well you were right about the strong thing." Brendan commented. "Or at least stubborn."

"Great he'll fit right in. Pokeball go!" Wally called out.

The Pokeball flew out of Wally's hand, hitting Quagsire in the center of his head, indenting a few inches, before rolling out as Quagsire's head returned to normal.

"Quaaaa." The Quagsire's muffled voice said in confusion, as it tried biting through the rock.

"Okay, now maybe try battling him." Brendan commented.

"I know, I just wanted to try and catch it without fighting just yet. We're trying to make allies for the upcoming battle." Wally admitted. "Flygon use Dragon Breath!"

Flygon spun around the Quagsire, sending out a stream of blue flames, engulfing the water type.

"Quag? Sire!" Quagsire said, chomping down on the rock, sending shrapnel at Flygon.

"Flygon use Crunch!"

Flygon rushed at Quagsire, grabbing it by its flipper, sending the water type into the air. As Quagsire was flipping in the air, it was engulfed in water, crashing back into Flygon.

"I think that was a Waterfall attack!" Brendan exclaimed.

"Sweet, Flygon use Hyper Beam!" Wally called out.

Flygon repositioned himself, lining up for an attack, and firing off a Hyper Beam,

"Qua." The wild Quagsire said, seemingly unfazed by the massive attack.

"What is with this thing?" Wally asked in shock.

"Its water and ground, switch to Cacturne, maybe a Needle Arm will do some damage." Brendan commented.

"Right, right." Wally said. "Flygon switch out!"

In Flygon's place was his partner in crime Cacturne, needles at an all time high, ready for battle.

"Cacturne use Needle Arm!"

Cacturne leapt at the Quagsire, slamming his arm down on the water type, Quagsire seemed unfazed, as it slammed its fin into Cacturne pushing the grass type back with an ice punch.

"Wally, might want to try something else." Brendan said, putting a hand over a Pokeball of his own.

"None of my attacks are phasing him!" Wally exclaimed. "Cacturne try slowing it down with a Drain Punch!"

Cacturne launched his arm forward, striking into Quagsire's gut, before twisting his arm and then pulling back.

"Quaaa." Quagsire called out in pain.

"Finally!" Wally cheered.

"No it's holding its jaw, I think it just realized it smashed a boulder with its mouth." Brendan commented.

"Works for me." Wally said. "Pokeball go!"

The Pokeball flew at Quagsire, slamming into his head, engulfing him in a red light.

'Ding ding ding'

"Alright I caught Quagsire!" Wally cheered.

"And maybe by the time we meet up with Ash, Quagsire will realize he's been caught!" Brendan joked. "Come on Swampert should be ready, and with Quagsire we can speed things up a bit."
