POV Izumi Sogeki
I walked into class and noticed that Yaoyorozu's seat was empty which confused me since she was always early. I then looked over and Ilda sitting at his desk with a small scowl on his face. I then remembered the news that was on the television last night.
"Three days ago the pro hero Ingenium was attacked and severely injured in a fight against the Hero Killer: Stain. He has finally woken up but sadly is unable to return to his career as a hero because of his legs being paralyzed. His family has announced that the Idaten agency will continue to run until it is taken over by Ingenium's younger brother who is currently studying at UA to be a hero. While his brother refuses to comment on his brother's condition or the fact that when he graduates he will be in charge of an agency he did say that Ingenium didn't die, and Ingenium's time as a hero isn't over. Most are taking this as his younger brother deciding to take the mantle. With this recent attack the HPSC is now bringing in many more heroes as well as some known teams who are able to track people down such as the Wild Wild Pussycats in order to catch the Hero Killer."
I went to my desk and sat down. Melissa looked at me and smiled.
"Sorry I got here early, there was something I wanted to talk to the principal about," she said.
"It's fine," I said.
"Alright, everyone quiet down!" Mr. Aizawa said, walking in. "As you have noticed Yaoyorozu isn't in the classroom at the moment, that is because she has been transferred because the teachers have decided that she didn't put enough effort in the Sports Festival. After talking about it we decided that her place will be taken by Mei Hatsume," he said, looking at the door.
"Hiya, I'm Mei Hatsume, I'm a Hero/Support course student and my schedule will be similar to Sogeki and Shield's," Hatsume said, walking in.
"Go take a seat at the empty desk," Mr. Aizawa said. "Now, normally you three would leave now, however we are having a special class that you are required to be here for. You will be going on one week of work studies with pro heroes. Some of you even got more offers than most students ever get," he said, pulling up a bunch of names with numbers. I noticed that mine had twenty next to it while Melissa's had fifteen. "Today you will be choosing names, since I'm not good with this I asked Midnight to come help," he added, as Midnight walked in.
"Think hard about this as this is how people will remember and know you. I have the right to deny any idea you come up with but I don't expect to do it too much," Midnight said as white boards and markers were handed back.
I know the name I will use, but what about a title? I thought. Wait, that's it!
"Alright, once you have it, come up here and present it," Midnight said, causing everyone to freeze for a moment.
Ilda stood up and went to the front and revealed his name. "This is my name," he said.
"The Legacy Hero: Ingenium II, sounds good to me, just don't get too caught up in trying to be your brother," Midnight said.
"I'm next!" Toga said, going to the front. "I'll be Dhampir."
"I like it," Midnight said.
A bunch and other people went up with names and while some were approved others were slightly changed to make them better.
"Alright, this is my name," Melissa said, holding her board up with it reading 'The Black Widow'.
"Ah, going with an old Pre-Quirk name," Midnight said. "I like it."
Melissa went back to her seat and I stood up and went forward with my board.
"This is who I am," I said.
"Oh, I like it. But why that title?" Midnight asked, smirking.
"Because, I will be the protector of the night and I will be the person people who do evil at night will fear, I am Batwoman: The Dark Knight," I said.
"While I do like it, I feel that it might be better if you went with Batgirl since you are still a child. Mt. Lady went by Mt. Girl before debuting as a full time hero, so you won't always be recognised and if you want you can change it then you can fully change it but some people might remember you," Midnight said.
"Alright, I guess I'll start as Batgirl," I said.
"Now all that's left is Bakugou," Midnight said as I walked to my seat.
"Lord Explosion Murder!" Bakugou said, as his nth attempt at a name.
"Nope! You got one more attempt or I'm choosing for you," Midnight said.
"King Explosion, Duke of Murder!" Bakugou said.
"That's it, your name is going to be Bomb Boy or Grenadier for now and if you don't pick one of them it will be McSplody," Midnight said.
"Grr, Grenadier," he growled, sitting down.
"Great, now I'll hand out a list of heroes anyone can go with as well as specialized lists for those who got offers," Mr. Aizawa said, lifting a pile of papers up. "The rest of the day will be a free workout at one of the following Gyms; Alpha, Beta, or Delta. Alpha will be personal weight lifting with myself, Beta will be sparring with Midnight, and Delta will be ranged practice with Arrowette. Once you get your list, get changed and go to one of those gyms. You can bring your lists and talk to your classmates for their insights on who they think will be the best match for what you want to learn. You can even ask your teachers and this year we were allowed to give requests ourselves so you might find yourself with a teacher if you so choose," he said, starting to hand the papers out.
Once I got mine I noticed that it was in order of placement. I looked at the top name and was frozen.
"Let's see who you got," Melissa said, looking over and seeing what I saw. "Mirko gave you a recommendation? And Ryukyu too?"
"What the fuck? Why would the top ten want your worthless ass?" Bakugou asked.
"My ass is great, thank you very much," I said.
"She's not wrong," Tokage said. "I'm kinda jealous of it if I'm being honest."
"That's enough about asses which should be moving to get changed," Mr. Aizawa said.
Everyone quickly got up and headed out. I kept looking at my list and saw requests from Midnight, Thirteen, Ms. Joke, Yumi, and even Mr. Aizawa. I then noticed one and was almost certain that they were who I was going to go with. I got changed and went to Gym Beta to work on sparring against opponents using quirks while I didn't have my gear on me. I walked in and noticed that Ilda and Hatsume were sparring in one of the rings. Ilda kept running at her but she would jump, twirl, or flip away just in time for him to run into the ropes and get sent back.
"Hey Tokage, wanna have a ring match?" I asked.
"You're on," she said, smirking.
We got in the other octagon and stood apart from each other.
"Three," I said.
"Two."
"One."
"Go!" We both said, charging each other.
She threw a punch at my face but I leaned back and kicked her in the stomach pushing her back. I then went on the offensive and started throwing as many punches as I could while also dodging any punch she threw. I hooked my leg around one of her's and knocked her to the ground. I grabbed her wrists and held them above her head while holding her legs down with my body. I looked down to see her panting for breath with a small sheen of sweat on her forehead and her hair spread out around her messily. I then realized the position we were in and felt my cheeks heating up as I realized how beautiful she was. I quickly got off of her as I gained the sudden urge to just lean down and kiss her lips. I looked over to Midnight and she gave me a look that said we would be talking about it during my meeting with her. I then went and grabbed my batarangs and went to Gym Delta to see Melissa firing at a target and Yumi standing back.
"Hey, you doing good?" Yumi asked.
"Yeah, just need to cool down a bit," I said, going over to an open area and started throwing batarangs at the target.
The first one hit the stomach, then the shoulder, then the thigh, finally the head.
"So, any idea on who you want to go with?" Yumi asked.
"Eh, I do have an idea of who I am planning on going with," I said, throwing more batarangs.
Yumi went over a couple of spots and shot an arrow dead in the center of her target before looking at me with a smirk. I smiled as I threw two batarangs both hitting the center of my target. She shot two arrows and used one to make the other hit the center on an angle. I threw five batarangs with two of them ricocheting off of two to be angling on both sides of the first one while the last one landed right next to the first one. We kept going back and forth until we were out of ammo.
"Alright, call it even?" Yumi asked.
"Deal," I sighed.
"Lunch time," Melissa said, walking over to us.
"No it's not," Yumi said before the bell rang.
"You were saying?" she asked.
"Let's go," I said, walking out.
I did my normal thing of getting my lunch along with Melissa and Hatsume's. I sat at the table next to Melissa and when Tokage sat next to me I slightly shuffled making it look like I was giving her space but was really just adjusting my mind. Once we were done eating we all went back to the gyms. I went to Alpha and went in with Tokage following me.
"Hey, is everything good?" Tokage asked me.
"Yeah, I'm just stuck in my head," I said.
"Well, how about we get you unstuck by some weight lifting," she said, smirking.
"Deal," I agreed, finding her smile contagious.
For the rest of the day the two of us worked out together. There was some light teasing and flirting between us, but I couldn't get the want to just kiss her out of my head. When we were done I got changed and made my way to Midnight's office.
"Come on in," she said, opening the door. "So, what is it that you want to talk about?" she asked as we sat in our normal spots.
"As you Melissa and I are dating, but after the events of the USJ, especially Tokage kissing me, we started to both feel weird and talked about it together before talking to Yumi about it and she said to ask you I've just been," I said.
"Stalling?" she asked, smirking.
"Yeah."
"So, what would you like to know? I think I know, but part of me wants to hear you say it," she said.
"Melissa and I want to know more about polyamory," I said.
"Alright, well, do you both have feelings for Setsuna or just one of you?" she asked.
"Bo-I mean, erk, it's really that obvious huh?" I asked, realizing it.
"Well, after you stayed on top of her and looked like you wanted to have her right then and there I put it together," Midnight said. "Anyway, polygamy works many ways. There are three main forms of it. The first off is like a dating blob when everyone in the polycule is dating everyone else. The second is more like a net and everyone can have multiple partners but their partners don't have to be dating. The third one is called the harem polycule, there is one person who is dating several other people at once, but they are only dating that one person and no one else in the polycule," she explained. "With how you are explaining your situation would be the best. That's the type of polyamors relationship Anan and I have been in. Honestly it's the cleanest in my mind, but there are some things that have to be done in polyamors relationships to make sure they don't fall apart or anyone gets hurt. The first is that you can't pick favorites. The second is you have to be honest to everyone in the polycule. The last main one is that if at any point someone starts to feel uncomfortable or like they are being left out they have to tell the others and not be afraid to sit down and have a conversation with them."(Me totally not pulling on my own experiences on being in a polycule before…)
"Oh, well that's not too difficult. So, how would we go about bringing this up to her?" I asked.
"Well, technically I shouldn't tell you and yell at you to leave my dau-niece alone, but I feel like I can trust you and Melissa to not hurt her and keep her safe," Midnight said, slipping up on the word, making me smile a bit. "Meet somewhere quiet and neutral, wanna know what. She's been obsessed with going to different cafes recently to find a good place to work on homework. There's a cat one she's been wanting to try, why don't you do it there, but wait until after the work studies," she recommended.
"Alright, thank you for helping me," I said.
"I just hope you can hold yourself back from taking her in the middle of class," Midnight said, smirking.
"I've seen you eye strip Yumi during classes," I said, making her slightly freeze up. "What would happen if she knew that her co-worker has had a crush on her since you were her teacher?" I added, smirking.
"Hey, it wasn't until she was in her third year and was fighting me and actually flirted back. It caught me off guard," Midnight defended.
"Still, how scandalous to think about a student like that. I guess you really are the R-18 hero."
"Just be glad I don't think about you that way after seeing you beat Mirko and what you two were saying," she shot back.
"Eh, not really into older women but you might be the exception," I said.
"So, since you started letting out your aggression and such in combat you have also started letting your true self out I'm noticing," she pointed out. "You aren't super shy, you don't back away from anything, and you fought the number six hero. I'm pretty sure that if you from when I first met you had that opportunity she would've fainted at just the thought of meeting her."
"Oh wow, you're right," I said, realizing that I wasn't bottling up my emotions as much anymore.
"I think it might be time for you to go back home," she said.
"Oh yeah," I said, looking at the time. "Thank you for everything," I added, getting up and walking out.
I made my way out of UA and to the house. When I walked in I noticed Yumi was lying on the couch half asleep.
"Come on, let's get you to bed," I said, trying to get her to move.
"Hmm, no," she said.
"Either you go to your bed or mine," I threatened.
"Fine, your's is softer."
"That was a joke, seriously," I said.
"Nah, I was just taking a small nap. I'll start on dinner," she said, stretching and yawning.
"Alright, so, I've decided who I am going to go with next week," I said.
"Really? Who?" she asked, getting up and walking to the kitchen.
"The Wild Wild Pussycats," I said, making her freeze up.
"Why them?" she asked.
"Because, if I'm going to be working at night and want to truly be the Dark Knight, I'll need to be able to track people. They are the greatest trackers even without their quirks. Why?" I asked.
"O-oh, um no reason," she said.
"Oh, do I detect the hint of something there?"
"When I was young I looked up to them and wanted to join, then I grew up and realized I would be better in the city as an underground hero," she said.
"Alright," I said.
"So, why do you want to spend time in the woods?"
"Well, they are actually currently in Hosu," I corrected. "They are tracking down the Hero Killer. Don't worry, I won't fight him if they do find him. I just want to see how they track someone in the city," I explained.
"Good, trouble comes for you enough, you don't need to go looking for it," Yumi said.
"True," I sighed.
The rest of the week went by and now I was waiting on the train platform in Hosu for them to come pick me up.
"There you are," a woman with burgundy hair said walking over to me with a woman a little shorter than her with emerald hair behind her. "I'm Shino Sosaki and this is Tomoko Shiretoko," the woman said.
"So, you are the quirkless student we picked up," Shiretoko said.
"Follow us and we'll explain what we are doing. Also make sure to call us our civy names right now," Sosaki said.
"Alright," I said, looking at her and realizing who they were. "So, where are you staying?" I asked.
"Right now we are being allowed to stay at the Idaten Agency. Tensei is an old friend and said that we could stay and train there," Sosaki explained.
"He's actually currently running it as an executive making sure that everything is done as fast and efficiently as possible," Shiretoko added, slightly jumping up and turning around to look at me.
"That's your costume right?" Sosaki asked, motioning to my suitcase which wasn't the UA one but a special one I made for my newly upgraded suit.
"Yeah."
"So, if you want to be an underground hero, why us?" Sosaki asked, leading me to an alleyway.
"I want to learn how to track people and you are the best for that. In order for me to make a name I have to be more than a normal hero. I'm planning on being a hero, a support technician, and a bit of a detective," I explained, looking around as my glasses adjusted and pointed things out to me. "So, when does my training start?" I asked, smirking.
"Now!" Sosaki said telepathically.
I dropped my bag and suitcase and grabbed the watch I had sent over from Tony's vault and activated it causing it to fold over my hand and form a metal fingerless glove with a blue glowing bit in the middle of my palm. I turned to see a giant dirt golem and lifted my now gloved hand and shot a repulsor blast through the midsection of it causing it to fall apart. I turned and caught a punch thrown by Tiger but was pushed back a bit. I activated my shoes which caused my legs to be covered by armor up to my knees. I kneed him but he just took it and sent a fist at me. I jumped back before grabbing my emergency staff and activating to expand. I used it to block an attack from Sosaki. I looked at Shiretoko and noticed her looking at me and remembered something from my notes. I dashed forward and knocked Sosaki's hand down before leaping over her back. I then looked at Tiger and noticed he started to jump at me but I slid under him and hit him with my staff. I ran at Shiretoko but Pixie-Bob jumped between us and touched the dirt and started to form a golem. I raised my hand and shot the forming golem destroying it with a single blast. I charged her and knocked her down, rolling over her before grabbing Shiretoko's arm and putting my staff against her body, holding her still against my body and putting my repulsor blaster next to her head.
"Stop, you win," Sosaki said. "I can understand why we were warned that you would be a problem child not even taking what you did during the festival into account."
"What is that glove?" Pixie-Bob asked.
"When we get somewhere secure I can tell you," I said. "Just need to sign an NDA," I added.
"What have we gotten ourselves into?" Sosaki asked.
"I feel like we made a small mistake," Tiger said.
"It's nothing bad, just strange," I said.
We made our way to the Idatan agency with Tiger and Pixie-Bob using a different route to not be seen in the street. We walked in and an older version of Ilda was sitting there in a wheelchair.
"So, how was the test?" he asked.
"She is scary," Sosaki said.
"Agreed!" Shiretoko said.
"Nice to meet you, I'm Tensei Ilda. You're in my younger brother's class. I'm sorry for how he acts and thinks about quirkless people. I'm definitely interested in what you're going to do," he said.
"Thanks, and it's not as bad as it could be," I admitted. "Um, do you have a room where we could go and talk without any cameras?"
"Yeah, I'll show you," he said, turning around.
He led us down a hall and to a meeting room. He then left as Tiger and Pixie-Bob walked in. I put the NDAs down and waited for them to sign them. Once they did I stored them before looking up.
"So, to make this as quick and easy to understand as possible. I solved the Stark Codex and own Stark Ind. as well as Tony Stark's personal vault which is where I got these glasses and watch from," I said, holding them up. "I also have added some to my costume but not enough that it will be immediately noticeable."
"Wow, that actually makes a lot of sense," Pixie-Bob said.
"Still, how did you know about the surprise attack?" Sosaki asked.
"Easy, the glasses have a HUD that noticed a couple of abnormalities, especially with the way the ground moved and the fact it was off the path to the agency. It also noticed Tiger standing on top of the building barely sticking out and marked it for me," I said.
"So, you want to learn how to track people then?" Pixie-Bob asked.
"Yes," I said.
"Let us go get changed and we can see what we can show you while we are here before going out tonight," Tiger said, walking out of the room with Pixie-Bob following him.
"So, you know who we are currently tracking, correct?" Sosaki asked.
"Yes, you are working on locating the Hero Killer: Stain. I know that if you find him while I am with you I will probably stay back and only step in to give first aid if needed," I said.
"Actually, you'll help protect Tomoko. I know you noticed that she was our weak link, giving us information but staying back with only Ryuko protecting her. If we find him, when it turns into a fight I want you next to her and provide anything you notice that her quirk might not pick up. Ticks, hidden weapons, stuff like that. You'll be in our mental link so you just have to think it and we'll know it as well as you'll know what we know," she explained.
"I can't wait to show you how to use the smallest of things to find people!" Shiretoko said.
AN-
The time has finally come for Izumi to start using Stark tech. The watch she used was in Captain America: Civil War and the glasses are his ones from Infinity War and the ones he gave some random kid (what's his name again?) in Spider-Man: Far From Home. Next chapter will be them training Izumi to use equipment as well as intuition to track people. Some of this will be real and some of it will be bullshit I pull from my ass that makes some sense to me. If you have any tech from Tony Stark either from the comics or television or film let me know what it is and where it is from and I'll see about adding it! Make sure to follow, favorite, comment, and kudos! Link Out!
