"So, this is something we found at the place where Stain was last spotted," Sosaki said, holding up a piece of red cloth.
"It has a lot of dirt on it," I said, slightly confused. It was the third day of me being with them and they had been training me on noticing things outside while the rest worked on tracking Stain.
"Exactly, we can figure out what is on the cloth to try and figure out where he is staying or what he passed on the way there," she explained. "How do you think we can do this?"
"Take the dirt off of the cloth and run it through a particle separator before testing each of the types of particles to see what they are and find a place that has all of them and then decide the greatest of those locations," I said.
"Right, why are you with us again?" she asked.
"Because I have no clue how to use anything in this room," I said, looking around all of the machines in the lab she led me to. "I only know how to use a particle separator because I tried making a new alloy but failed and wanted to get my resources back," I added.
"Huh, I guess it could work," she said, thinking about it. "Anyway, let me show you how to get the dirt off of the cloth and test the particles before we head out tonight."
She showed me how to scrape the dirt into the particle separator and activate it. She then led me to a device that scanned the atomic structure of a particle but if it was mixed would give an error message. By the time she explained what all of the devices did, the separator was done. We took each of the different types of particles and put them in their different devices.
"So, he's commonly in a place with a lot of dirt, car exhaust fumes, and different types of stones," Sosaki said.
"The roofs," I said. "He's traveling from roof to roof and not many heroes patrol the air or even think to check the roofs of buildings. If he's using the roofs then he could evade the police easily," I added.
"You're right," Sosaki said.
"I'm guessing you already knew this and that's why Tsuchikawa and Chatora were on the roofs before jumping down at me," I added.
"Indeed, and it's almost time for us to get ready to go patrol the roofs, are you ready?" she asked.
"I'll go suit up," I said, walking out and going to the guest room I was given to use.
I opened up my custom suitcase and took out my new upgraded costume. I put on my pants that weren't too different, just with additional and better padding. I then put my top on that now had the symbol on the chest a little dulled but. I then put the cowl on and the nano tech released, forming my cape so I could use it as a shield and change its shape if needed. I then put my new device in my pouch after checking it to make sure it wouldn't accidentally go off. I still wasn't sure what I thought of it.
"Why would I add this to a device, one wrong move and it could kill," I said.
"Don't worry, when Tony realized this he took all of them and adjusted it so it wouldn't. If you take this one and add it to a special batarang it would be a good tool in your arsenal," Tony explained.
"I mean, looking at it as long as you don't try to make it more powerful you should be good to use it," Melissa added, looking at the schematics.
"Alright, but my normal batarangs are too small so I'll have to make a slightly bigger one," I said, activating the holo-table and getting to work on the special design.
I looked at that last thing in the suitcase and left it before getting up and walking out of the room to see all of the WWPussycats in costume.
"Are you ready?" Mandalay asked.
"I'll follow your lead," I said, making sure my sticks were on my back.
"Let's get going!" Ragdoll said.
"I'll contact you on coms if anything comes up," Tensei said, rolling past us.
"Alright, let's head out," Mandalay said, leading us through the back of the Agency.
"Do you need help getting up Batgirl?" Tiger asked, as all of them started climbing to the roof.
"I'm good," I said, pulling out my grappling hook and pulling myself up to the roof.
"You really are prepared for everything aren't you?" Pixie-Bob asked.
"I have to be," I said, looking out at the dark city.
"Try to keep up," Ragdoll said, jumping over to the next building.
The five of us jumped from building to building with me using my grappling hook to help me with the jumps between streets. We kept going until there was a large explosion. I then froze at what I saw. Three creatures were causing chaos, one was flying with wings, another looked like a green lanky man, but the third one is what caught my attention. It looked like a smaller version of the Nomu I had fought.
"These are all Nomu from preliminary scans," Tony said in my ear.
"Batgirl, we're going to go to the thick of it. You stay on the outer ring and try to just lead people out. You have permission to fight if necessary," Mandalay said, as all of us started running towards the fire.
"I'm connecting Tony to your digital coms," I said, breaking off as I jumped down and caused my cape to stiffen allowing me to safely glide to the ground.
I landed in a roll and started looking for anyone in danger or hurt as a yellow blur shot past me. I kept looking and noticed that the flames in the center of it all got way bigger. I then noticed something in the corner of my sight.
"Native is bleeding out and it looks like Ingenium II is on the ground," Tony said, as I turned.
I ran into the alley and saw the Hero Killer: Stain standing above Ilda who had his helmet off and was about to stab him with a katana. I ran forward and caught the katana between my fins before twisting my arm and snapping the katana in two before taking out my escrima sticks and whacking Stain back.
"This is Batgirl, I'm in an alleyway directly north of the main battle. Stain is here. Native is bleeding out and Ingenium II is frozen on the ground. Send help!" I said, using the coms.
"Wh-t ple- -pete st-," Mandalay's voice said, breaking apart.
"Something is messing with the coms," Tony said.
"Who are you little girly?" Stain asked.
"I'm Batgirl," I said, lifting my sticks up to defend my torso.
"Get away from here, this is my vengeance, I don't need a useless, quirkless, null like you to save me!" Ilda yelled.
"I know you, you're that quirkless girl who won the first year Sports Festival and even beat Mirko. You have my respect as you are well on your way to being a true hero, unlike him who didn't even prioritize saving Native, but just taking vengeance on his brother who only saved people to make his family proud. Unlike most heroes I cull he wasn't truly evil so I gave him the gift of living," Stain said.
"You call paralyzing him a gift?" Ilda said.
"Heroes should save people because it's what is right, real heroes are like All Might, selfless and willing to put it all on the line and inspire people!" Stain shot back.
"All Might isn't a real hero," I growled. "He has put my life in danger and tried to get me to leave the hero course because I am quirkless. He's even recently decided that I am a villain with a hidden corruption quirk. All of this is because I decided to say screw it, screw what he thinks, screw what everyone else thinks, I'll be a hero because I want to be! All Might is part of if the not the top of the corruption in this world, so if you think he's a true hero then you are more corrupt than I thought," I said, hoping someone was on their way.
"Don't lie to me girl," he said, pulling out another blade.
"I'm not," I said, hitting the symbol on my chest twice causing nano tech to cover my torso.
He charged me and I met his blade with my fins again but this time he kicked me back and I heard the sound of metal on metal.
"Boot knives, not too bad," I muttered, looking up and running at him.
I was mostly on the defense as he kept trying to stab and slash at me. At one point I hit his jaw but he didn't react and I had to dodge a knife to my face.
"If you think All Might's the model hero then wouldn't he build up students and not try to tear them down?" I asked kicking him back .
"He is!"
"He left me on a roof after telling me that it's impossible for quirkless to be heroes, but here I am!" I said.
"Stop lying!" he yelled charging at me.
"To the left," Ragdoll said in my mind.
I jumped to the left and looked back to see Ragdoll and Mandalay.
"Sorry it took us some time, we could barely make out what you said," Mandalay said.
"Be careful of his blades," I said, turning around as the three of us stood facing the Hero Killer.
"You focus on getting your classmate out and help Native," Mandalay said, running forward.
I picked Ilda up as he kept protesting about his vengeance and that he won't let a null help him. I got back to Native and put a white cloth I had in my belt on his wound and realized it wasn't as bad as I had originally thought. I looked back and froze for a moment. Mandalay was frozen and Stain had his back to the back of the alley about to stab her. I took out my special batarang and threw it at him. It lodged in the bricks next to his head.
"You missed," he said.
"No I didn't," I said, smirking as the device activated and Stain's body tensed up. "It's a sonic taser, the sound stuns a person," I explained. "It's just enough to stun but do nothing else," I added, walking forward, twirling my sticks.
"I know what you can do with those sticks, knock him out, you have permission," Mandalay said in my head.
I walked up to him and stabbed him with both sticks holding them until he was unconscious. I caught him as he fell and deactivated my sonic batarang pocketing it.
"I'll help you take the weapons off of him," Ragdoll said, stepping over to me.
We rummaged through his outfit and boots and everything. In the end we had several knives, daggers, and blades of all types.
"Blood, his quirk works on blood," I said, looking at all of the weapons.
"I agree, he licked the blood after cutting me and I was frozen," Mandalay said, walking over.
"What, how come we aren't unfrozen?" Ilda asked.
"Blood type probably," I said. "It could affect the quirk."
Once we got him pulled out the other members of the Wild Wild Pussycats joined us followed by Endeavor and Manual and an old man in a yellow hero costume.
"Is that the hero killer?" Endeavor asked.
"Yup, Batgirl here defeated him," Mandalay said, motioning to me.
"I'm being serious, who defeated him?" Endeavor asked, glaring at me for a moment before looking back at her.
"I am serious, she fought him and while Ragdoll and I helped she was the one who knocked him out," she said.
"RAWR!" a loud screeching came.
I looked up to see the winged Nomu flying towards us while a girl with flaming green hair chased after it. I watched as it went to grab Ragdoll but I pushed her out of the way as it grabbed me by the shoulder.
"BATGIRL!" Ragdoll yelled.
I felt the Nomu freeze and start plummeting. I ripped its talon out of my shoulder and using my cape, glided back down with the heroes as its head was sliced off as Stain jumped into the air and passed me. I turned around and saw Stain standing there.
"If I don't fix it- if someone isn't stained with blood-! If heroes aren't restored-! Come! Just try me- you fakes! The only one allowed to kill me is… a true hero," Stain said, standing up looking at all of us.
I felt as all of the heroes froze at the aura of bloodlust he was giving off.
"If you are trying to intimidate us then you don't understand, I'm not the one who fears others," I said, walking forward as he looked at me with surprise. "I'm the one that villains will learn to fear," I said, walking up and pulling out handcuffs. "Because I'm the Dark Knight, the one is both a symbol of hope for innocents, and a symbol of fear for those who do wrong," I said, grabbing his wrist and pulling him forward and handcuffing him.
"I guess there is still hope for the future since All Might isn't a true hero anymore," Stain said, his body giving out and falling to the ground.
The next few hours went by in a blur. Stain was taken by the police and I was taken to the hospital so they could check me out. After they were done I was admitted for some smaller injuries just to be safe. Eventually the Wild Wild Pussycats walked in with a man with a dog head.
"Hello, I am Kenji Suragamae, the Chief of Police," the man said.
"I'm Izumi Sogeki," I said.
"I know who you are. I am here because we need to have a talk about the capture of Stain. Because you acted without a license, what you did could be considered vigilantism," he started.
"Actually, technically it can't be vigilantism," I said.
"How?" he asked.
"Easy, by common law vigilantism is defined as a person using their quirk to do acts of heroics without a license. It can't be vigilantism because I don't have a quirk," I said. "Even then, I was given permission to fight by the heroes I am under at the moment so it would be the same as them telling a civilian to use their quirk to help them in a crisis," I added.
"Even so, we can't release the fact that a hero course student caught the Hero Killer. The official story is that Endeavor is the one who caught him since he was seen there," he said.
"I'm sorry but you might want to realize that if you do that you will be in fact committing a crime, and you wouldn't want UA to have to sue the whole of the police force would you?" Nezu asked, walking in with Yumi.
"Izumi!" she yelled, running over and giving me a hug.
"Principal Nezu, this is not a decision the police force is making," the Chief started.
"Well the decision has already been made for everyone," Nezu said. "It would seem that a news station caught both the original fight of her beating Stain as well as her handcuffing him and released it earlier," he explained, turning the television on to show the fight between Stain and I and then me handcuffing him but they included what I had said to him.
"While the HPSC stated that it was Endeavor who caught Stain, we can now see it was this new hero in training Batgirl who defeated him and caught him again after his escape. While they haven't responded to the video we caught, one can't help but wonder what else they have been lying about," the newscaster said.
"I see, I'm sorry but I was just doing my job to come tell you. I hope you have a good day," the Chief said, walking out.
"Izumi, are you alright?" Yumi asked, looking at me.
"Yes, a little banged up but nothing too serious," I said.
POV Yumi Sogeki aka Arrowette
"I need to tell you that I am very sorry," Mandalay said, pulling me off to the side, causing my mind to go into overdrive. "If I had just told her to stay with us."
"Then a hero and hero student would be dead," I said, bluntly as I fought back a blush. "I should be thanking you for being there to protect her, if you hadn't shown up and had her back off while you and Ragdoll fought him. I can't imagine what could've happened," I said, the thought popping in my mind and tears coming on my face.
"How about this, we both have reasons to be sorry and grateful?" she offered.
"Um, yeah, sure," I said, trying to think of what to do.
"If you want to take her home early I understand," she said.
"No, as much as I don't like it, she deserves to stay and have this experience," I said. "However, if you could stick to just showing her how to track people in civies," I said.
"Sure, if you want you can join us too. I know you can help us with some personal insight," she said, smiling as I felt my cheeks redden.
"I, um, yeah, sure," I said, agreeing.
"Perfect," she said.
"And, maybe after showing Izumi somethings we could compare notes on how we operate," I added. "Maybe over dinner or something."
"Are you really trying to ask me out on a date?" she asked.
"I-um-"
"Because if you are, the answer is yes," she said, smirking in a way that sent chills down my spine.
"Great, um, Friday night?" I asked.
"Sure," she said, leaning next to my face. "I'm looking forward to it," she whispered before walking off with a sway to her hips.
POV Izumi Sogeki aka Batgirl
"Are you sure I have to do this?" I asked.
"Yes, if you make an announcement now and go into the press conference you can cut the rumors off now," Nezu said. "All you need to do is say that you refuse to reveal your identity and try to divert them from realizing your identity. If you are worried about All Might or anyone else giving it away, all heroes at UA can't give student's identities away and all of them at the event signed NDAs not letting them reveal your name," he added.
"Alright," I said, putting my cowl on my costume. I activated the voice changer that made my voice a little more growlery since that's what my voice sounded like when I gave my speech I was still embarrassed about. "Let's go," I said, following him.
We walked into a large room that UA saved for conferences like this that was filled with reporters. My lens kept the flashing lights from affecting me and I was glad to make sure my cowl covered any identifying marks like my hair or freckles. I sat between Nezu and Mr. Aizawa, who was in a suit rather than his costume, and on the other side of Nezu the Wild Wild Pussycats sat.
"Alright, I know you all have questions so we will start off by explaining some things," Nezu said. "Batgirl has requested that her true identity be kept a secret so any question trying to learn of her personal life will not be answered. She has agreed to informing everyone that she is a first year hero student here and that she was interning with the Wild Wild Pussycats. Now then, who has a question?" he asked as dozens of hands shot up. Nezu looked at me and nodded.
"You," I said, looking at a woman with blue skin and black sclera.
"Chitose Kizuki with Shoowaysha Publishing. What is your quirk?" she asked.
"Classified."
"Why is it classified? Surely you can tell us at least what it deals with," she pushed.
"It deals with being classified, why are you so Curious?" I asked, reading the small info Tony and Nezu had on her, causing her to do a small double take before her smile returned. Your and Nezu's information was correct, I thought.
"Good to know," Tony said.
"Well, I don't think I speak for just me when I say that if a first year hero student took down the Hero Killer, a man who murdered and maimed many powerful heroes high in the ranks, their quirk must be powerful, so what is it?" she asked.
"Classified Information," I said, hoping she would take the bait.
"So your quirk is actually called Classified," she said.
"Perhaps, next," I said, looking up as several others raised their hands. "Yes," I said, nodding towards a woman who was sitting towards the back.
"Bunko Kato with Mustafu Public. Is it true that you have advanced technology in your suit?" she asked.
"Indeed, one of my close friends designed all of them for me. Honestly if it wasn't for them using the Sports Festival to test their use I wouldn't have had them to fight Stain," I said, knowing they might try to draw the connection between what I used in the festival and in my fight with Stain.
"Are you saying that the winner built your gear?" Kizuki asked.
"Indeed she did," I said.
"And could your wanting your identity to be kept secret be why all recording of the First Year Sports Festival was removed, even from DVRs?" she added.
"Yes, I made a bit more of a splash to just make sure that my spot wasn't taken but have since then been told by the teachers that my spot won't be in danger if I prove that I tried but just didn't want to be noticed," I explained.
"Stop lying to these people you villain," All Might said, walking in. "Admit that you are working with Stain to bring the hero society."
"You dare accuse me of being a villain and working with the man who worshiped you?" I asked. "You have done nothing but try to prevent me from being a hero but accusing me of working with the likes of Stain, who kills people, that is too far for even you. I am not someone who will fight the other protectors of society. I will be a real hero, I am going to be the one that criminals will fear running into at night and the one that civilians will put their hope into protecting them. You might be the Light Knight, the Symbol of Peace to society, but I will be the Dark Knight, the Symbol of Fear for the criminal underground."
"All Might if you wish to continue teaching here I highly suggest you leave," Nezu threatened.
"Can you not see what she is doing?" All Might asked. "She is a danger to society."
"The only danger I can see is the one that you possess to our students. I have been very lenient with you but this is where I draw the line. Trying to publicly humiliate a student of UA, you have forced my hand. All Might, you are fired from UA effective immediately, Aizawa, escort him out," Nezu said.
Mr. Aizawa stood up and walked over where All Might stood seething.
"When she sets her plan into motion you will wish that I was still here," he said, glaring at me before turning away and walking out.
"I'm sorry but Batgirl and I will take our leave as the Wild Wild Pussycats answer some more of your questions," Nezu said, looking at me.
The two of us stood up and walked out. When we got to the ante room I went to the couch and flopped down taking some deep breaths.
"I was not expecting that," I said, turning the voice modifier off.
"I'm sorry I didn't do anything about All Might beforehand," Nezu said.
"It's fine, it's more so the fact that a lower member of the MLA actually came," I said.
"Ah, Ms. Kizuki, we could use this to our advantage if we want to," Nezu said.
"I agree, but we'll have to do it carefully, and I might have just the way to do it, but it'll take a bit of change for both of us," I added.
"Let me know what you had in mind and I'll see what we can do," he said.
The door that didn't lead to the conference room opened and Yumi walked in.
"Hey Izumi, have you talked to Melissa face to face recently?" Yumi asked, a smirk on her face.
"No-oh," I said, realizing what today was.
"Nemuri just told me that they just finished their last patrol and that Melissa and Tokage were both very excited to talk with you face to face. Luckily, I convinced them to go easy on you," Yumi added, opening the door for the two of them to burst in.
"What were you thinking, fighting the Hero Killer?" Melissa asked, looking at my now unmasked face.
"The press didn't try to peek into your personal life did they?" Tokage asked.
"I'm fine, the press conference was nerve wracking but I'm good," I said. "I used my new armor to not get hurt," I added.
"What armor?" Tokage asked.
"Well, I thought it would be beneficial to have additional armor, at least on my chest, but if I made any real armor it would be too bulky. So I used nano technology to make it retractable into the symbol on my chest so I only activate it if needed so as to not mess with my mobility," I explained.
"Well, I guess that can slightly decrease my worries for you," Tokage said.
AN-
So I realized a mistake I made during the Sports Festival. I used the term batarang but Izumi wasn't using her batarangs she was using normal shuriken. This is important for separating Izumi and Batgirl. Unlike some heroes Izumi will do everything to make sure she keeps her identities from merging. I'm not saying they are actually different people but she is going for more of a Bruce Wayne/Batman style of they are different personalities but the same person.
