"Tsunayoshi?"
The teen looked toward Fury with confusion and a little anxiety. "Mr. Fury, do you know who is behind Loki's shadow?" As the older man started to frown, Tsuna continued to speak. "It was a stronger existence than Loki."
'...Hmm?'
"Who is the 'real' enemy?"
'…What?'
Fury became extremely focused after hearing those words that it swept his concern about the meeting between the teen with Loki for the moment. He could hear Thor's urgent voice.
"What?! What did you just say?!"
The god of thunder was shocked.
The SHIELD's director was also shocked.
Chapter 7 - More Complicated than Imagined
In fact, everyone was shocked.
"…Did you 'real' enemy?"
"Huh?"
Agent Hill, who had been quietly standing to the side, and even Coulson, who had come with him, both looked toward Tsuna with shock.
"None of you knew?"
However, Tsuna's response was so calm that Fury forgot what he was going to say.
"Tsunayoshi."
"Cielo."
When two voices called out to him, Tsuna turned toward Tony after hearing what he said next with an unusually serious tone.
"What going on?" However, he makes the motion for the Stark to hold on for a moment.
"Do you remember what I said earlier?"
'What he said earlier?'
Tsuna recalled the last thing Primo told him.
"Something with Loki."
"Loki?" Tsuna mumbled. Everyone becomes alert as they watched how his eyes suddenly became unfocused as if listening to something in the distance.
"Tsunayoshi!" Fury patted the teen's shoulder and tried to call him over.
But unfortunately, Tsuna was focused on the voice of his great-great-great-grandfather on his mind.
Flashback minutes earlier
"Well, do come in!" A mockingly polite voice called out from within the glasses prison, out of view of the stairs. Tsuna startled, flinching minutely. "I'm happy to have a visitor." His lips tightened, muscles in his neck tensing at the alluring voice.
Taking a swift step forward, Tsuna discarded all hint of his physical discomfort and exhaustion, the behavioral cues he'd used were falling away, replaced with something infinitely more confident and assured.
"Loki."
Loki tsk-ed. "You already know my name, but I don't know yours," he said conversationally. That's a lie, of course, Loki already knows him from Barton.
Tsuna stared hard at Loki, refusing to break eye contact with the god. "You are someone who not only caused the unnecessary death of many people, but has also purposefully promoted hysteria, fear, and hatred of humans," Tsuna paused. "Among other things," he added after a moment. "I have no desire to speak to you as though you were worthy of basic decency."
Coulson flinched next to him. He really doesn't understand what the teen is doing
Throughout Tsuna's response, Loki's expression had grown sharper, angry but with a mark of amusement in his eyes. Now he openly smiled, teeth showing. "As I thought, you're an interesting human." paused, "Are you going to ask about agent Barton?"
Tsuna slightly clenched his fists after hearing his uncle was mentioned by the God of Mischief.
"He is an excellent pawn. I'll make him fight- no, he'll torture you in every way and eventually kill you- or at least, leave you half-dead," he suggested lightly, eyes dark with intent, "And when Barton realizes what he has done to you; his beloved nephew, he will break up." Tsuna's eyes grew colder and colder as Loki mockingly taunted him.
On other side, Fury and the others were watching Tsuna's interaction through the holographic screen.
"Director Fury? Isn't bit dangerous for Tsunayoshi?" asked Steve, his eyes (and everyone's) focused on the screen.
"How about I go after them?" asked Natasha, she was worried that Clint's nephew would be influenced by Loki.
"No," said Fury sternly. "We'll watch them from now."
Nobody said anything as they continued to watch.
"Cielo..." whispered Tony.
Back to Tsuna.
"Tsunayoshi, calm down! Don't let Loki's words affect you."
Tsuna unclenched his fists at Primo's voice in his mind.
"Loki, what do you want?"
"What do I want?"
The smile disappeared from Loki's face and he looked cloudy once again. He responded back in a voice that was full of desire.
"It is to no longer be someone who follows and instead to be the ruler."
Ruler. King. Leader. Boss.
It's something typical villains have always wanted.
"Let me ask you too. Who- no, what are you?" Asked the said villain.
Loki is really interested in the young man in front of him. According to what Barton told him, Tsunayoshi is quite strong and can fight so well against his uncle, considering Barton's level as SHIELD's agent. One of his power, mind control also didn't affect Tsunayoshi for some reason. And apparently, he also has a strange power; Loki knows, although the strange green barrier that protected the human the other day was not at its full power, it still uses strong energy. And more important...
"Are you even human?"
Behind Tsuna, Coulon did a double-take at Loki's question. But he is still watching between the god and Tsunayoshi silently, for now.
And Tsuna's reaction?
"...I am human?"
It was an expression that seemed to be asking why Loki was asking such a stupid question.
"I thought I was mistaken when we first met, but there is some weird scent around you, even now." It's only faint, but Loki definitely can smell something familiar from the teen.
"…huh?" Tsuna responded with surprise. "I just showered." He actually did a quick shower at the (private) jet before coming to the Helicarrier.
The God of Mischief opened and closed his mouth a couple of times without saying anything after hearing the teen's retort. Tsuna could see the wrinkles on Loki's forehead from frowning.
"Μυρίζεις σαν αυτά τα τρακ. (You smell like these jerks.) Apollo? No, not only him. Even it's faint, έχετε σίγουρα μια αύρα σαν κάποιες από αυτές ." (you definitely have an aura like some of them.) (I just use google translate, don't ask me)
With Fury and the others.
"EH, really?! I didn't realize it!" shouted Thor all of sudden and make the rest confused.
"What's wrong, Thor?" asked Steve.
"I don't understand the language," said Bruce with a frown.
"Thor, what's Loki talking about?" asked Fury.
But the god of thunder is only silent.
Back to Tsuna.
"...merda."
"Huh?" 'Did Primo just curse?'
(AN: Just a little part of my other story: The Difference of the Mist. Can't help it to add it here XD)
Loki could see the confused expression on Tsuna's face, thinking maybe the teen didn't understand his words. (actually, somehow Tsuna understood the language, but he didn't get the meaning of that) "... never mind if you didn't know then." sighed Loki. "More important, Tsunayoshi," the black-haired god took steps from the middle of the prison from he was standing from the beginning, so only the thick glasses separates him and Tsuna. "How about it?" he suddenly extended his hand to the teen. "Why don't you join me?"
Tsuna, Coulson behind him, as well the others who watching from another side become tense. But Loki didn't allow Tsuna to say anything. "I can see it." He then started to speak in a calm voice. "Even though you look so young, you are a human who has been on many battlefields and has experienced conflicts, betrayals, and deaths."
Tsuna's shoulders flinched at what Loki said next.
"You've even killed people before."
Tsuna stilled, he could see the older man's pupils slowly turn sharp. "Am I right, Tsunayoshi?" asked Loki while smirking.
*Ba-Dump*
His heart started to beat wildly. However, before he could even open his mouth...
"It's enough Tsunayoshi. Leave here. Loki's words are also his weapon, they can affect your mind. It's dangerous to stay here for much longer."
So, in the end, Tsuna took Primo's advice to go from there with Coulson flanking him from behind as if protecting him and leaving Loki who still stared at Tsuna's back. He also left some parting words; "Don't worry, Tsunayoshi. You'll eventually meet Barton again sooner than you thought."
On the way back to the meeting room, Tsuna completely ignored Coulson who kept asking him 'are you alright?' to have a small discussion with his great-great-great-grandfather.
'So, Primo, what do you think about him?'
...yes. Actually, it was Primo who told Tsuna to meet Loki.
"Something is weird, Tsunayoshi."
'Weird?'
"Yeah," Primo quickly added. "Loki's weapon!"
'Huh?'
"Do you remember the staff-like weapon he held? The Scepter? Yesterday, I felt a foreign power from it, something from another world?" Primo was silent for a moment, "Yes, Loki is weird. But what was even weirder was the Scepter. And more importantly, I think that Loki was affected by his own weapon."
'What?'
"You also felt it, Tsunayoshi. Loki earlier and Loki from yesterday was a little different."
Yes, he still has a villain vibe on him, but... sometimes earlier Loki seems more normal? composed? Tsuna can't put it into words.
"It's because Loki currently was separated with his weapon" continued Primo, "But when he gets it back, I'm sure that he will become more dangerous."
"Remember how your uncle fell into Loki's side? It was the Scepter's power; the power that could affect the other's mind, including its holder."
'What the heck?'
Tsuna felt his mind going blank for a moment.
'So, in other words, there is someone who...controlled- influenced Loki?'
"Mist flame can confirm this; no, not you Tsunayoshi. Although you can use them, Loki is powerful; what we need is a full Mist flame. *sigh* Too bad we didn't have a Mist user near here, they're needed to peek at Loki's mind."
'Right...'
Even in the mafia, the Mist user; more precisely, the full Mist user is second rarer after the Sky.
But... it's so weird. Why is the back of his head getting cold as he listens to primo's talk?
The back of Tsuna's neck continued to feel chilly even though he was thinking that there will be no way for a Mist user to suddenly appear here.
Right...?
Flashback end
'You said something about Loki and his weapon.'
"For now, let's see if you can see the Scepter. Ask the SHIELD's boss."
Tsuna's gaze then turned toward the rest of the group.
"Cielo, are you alright? The reindeer head didn't do something to you, right?"
It takes a few seconds for Tsuna to register that Tony was talking about Loki.
Reindeer head, really?
Tsuna blinked and faced the Stark. "Loki? No, he didn't, why?"
"You blanked for a minute or two," answered Tony. "And you said his name earlier."
"Hmm, I just remembered something, nothing happens much in our meeting."
Tony stopped asking when the Arsella's heir just give him a not-now look. Sighed, he then turned to Bruce and discussed some science stuff as the teen retreated to the corner and just listening the adults.
"I say we can start with Loki's weapon." said Steve "The staff is like magic.. that can be dangerous and have terrible consequences like HYDRA's weapon."
"I didn't know about that, but it's power from the Cube. I want to know how Loki uses it to turn my men to his side."
Tsuna cast a brief look at Steve and Fury's conversation.
"Dr. Banner is here to track the Cube. I was hoping you can join him, Stark." Fury turned to Tony who only grumbles.
"Talking about Loki...I want to know why Loki let us take him. He's not leading his space army to here, right?" said Steve.
"Space army?" Tsuna mumbled. Why does that feel familiar?
Bruce, still standing, speaks up. "I think we shouldn't focus on Loki. His mind is full of evil. You can smell his craziness."
"How dare you say that! Loki's out of control, but he's from Asgard." Thor half-yelled, "And he's my brother."
"He killed 80 people in two days, Thor," said Natasha without emotion.
"He's adopted." finished Thor in a small voice.
"Don't be hasty in making judgments toward Loki." And once again, everyone's focus shifted toward Tsuna as the teen's eyes began to glance at them one by one before staying at Thor's. "I suspect that his mind was not his own."
"Wha-what do you mean?"
"Mr. Thor. You are his brother. Whether it's adopted or a real sibling, you're still family. Out of all of us here, maybe you're the only one who understands Loki the most. Talk to him once more, without a fight or annoying stuff like that." Tsuna paused. "Watch him carefully and maybe you'll understand what I mean."
"..."
Silence filled the room almost instantly.
"By the way, can I come along?"
The silence was soon broken.
Of course, it was Tsuna himself who made that comment. "Looking at the weapon I mean," he added.
"Why do you-"
"Tsunayoshi." Before Bruce could finish his question, Fury cut him off. "Isn't it time you told me?" He looks intently at the teen, dark brows furrowed and lips pulling into the beginnings of a scowl.
The SHIELD's boss has many questions, but the most important one is; "Do you have a specific power?"
Tsuna titled his head. This gesture would look cute if a child did it, but here, it resembled the lion baring its fangs.
"And what would you do if I did have it?"
Tony flinched. But no one noticed because they were too focused on the teen.
The sensation of air rippling felt so distinct as it encompassed the whole place. They could not see it, but all of them could feel the oppressive aura coming off the teen. It was affecting everybody in the room.
Inwardly, the Vongola Decimo sighed. He had a feeling that sooner or later he had to show it. If he wanted to save his uncle, he had to use his Flame. Besides, everyone here is not an ordinary civilian. And of course, he wouldn't talk about his powers in detail. So, maybe, it's alright?
With those thoughts, Tsuna bought his right-hand upfront as he lit his Lightning Flame.
A buzzing sound echoed as a light green 'electricity' forms round shapes on the brunet's palm.
Steve gaped at the sight.
Fury narrowed his eye. (right or left? I forgot.)
Bruce and Thor looked at it with interest and curiosity.
Natasha let out a slight frown on her face.
The two agents (Hill & Coulson) just stood, unmoving.
Everyone watched in astonishment as a sharp dark neon-green electricity-like danced and thrashed violently on the teen's hand, everyone except one person.
"Eep!" Tony let out a small yelp, took steps away from the teen, and used the nearest person as a human shield. And this time, some of them saw this.
"What's wrong with you?" Bruce stared at the Stark who somehow teleported behind him, eyebrow raised. (And NO, Tony was NOT hiding)
"Ugh, I don't want to get electrocuted again."
While others look confused, Tsuna's eyes jump to Tony and he has to pinch his lips to prevent an amused smirk. It's not his fault that the Stark's heir has a traumatic experience with the Lightning Flame. (the story about flirting with the young sky, an overprotective blonde bodyguard, and the flying Billiard balls.)
Then, he extinguishes his flame and turns his attention to Fury.
"Is this enough, Mr. Fury?" Tsuna frowned at his question. While he did show (part of) his power, he still did not trust anyone in the room. He also noticed the deep frown the Shield's Director wore when he looked at the older man.
"I have a feeling that it's not all your power, Tsunayoshi. But I bet you won't show it." Fury turned toward Tony. "And I think Stark over there knows it more than I thought."
"No comment." That was all that came out of Tony's mouth.
"The Gamma reading is definitely been consistent, with Selvig's reports on the Tesseract. But it takes a long time in the process," said Bruce as he scanned Loki's Scepter.
"If we can cut the main frame, we can go straight to the Holmer Cluster, we mark it at six hundred teraflops," Tony mumbled, looking and typing on a holographic screen. "By the way Cielo, why did you want to look at this weapon?" he turned to Tsuna who looked at Scepter (beside Bruce) with deep concentration. "You're not interested in science stuff like this, are you?"
"Nope, I don't even understand what you guys were talking about earlier," answered Tsuna with a frown. "But..."
"Tsunayoshi..."
'Yeah...'
"Um, Tsunayoshi? What's wrong?" asked Bruce, noticing Tsuna took steps back from him, no, from the Scepter.
Tsuna took a deep breath. His body suddenly stiffened up to the point that he could not speak. His gaze headed in one direction.
The Scepter.
The teen had a calm expression on his face, however, Tony could sense the complication in Tsuna's mind based on his eyes.
"Cielo, wha-?"
"Both of you..." Tsuna suddenly cut off, "Are you guys alright?"
For Tsuna, Loki's Scepter looks like a normal weapon, however, an unbelievable pressure was flowing out of it. The aura that had flooded out of the scepter just now... That aura had given Tsuna the chills.
'How did nobody notice it?' Even Primo who was in a different realm (?) immediately noticed.
"What do you mean?" asked Bruce. The that's-what-we-should-be-asking-because-your-face-is-pale, was left unsaid.
"I..." paused. "I need some time alone. Bye." And with that, Tsuna bolted out of the room, ignoring Steve who just come and bumped him at the door.
"What's going on?" Steve was looking from the vanished teen to Bruce and Tony.
But the two geniuses in the room were silent. They didn't understand what had happened to the teen.
