"Come on Winn, every second I'm not helping with the search is one more second Cole is slipping farther and farther away…." Maggie argued as Winn's hand gripped that much harder on her upper arm.
"Cole isn't the only Danvers who needs you, Sawyer." Winn reminds giving a hard push to the double doors ahead of them with the hand not keeping a tight hold on the fist full of the leather jacket he'd managed to grab when Maggie had tried to sidestep him in the hallway.
It wasn't much of a secret Maggie had been rather actively avoiding the very woman Winn seemed just as determined to push into her path at the moment.
"What in the name of Rao is she doing?" Maggie hissed considering Alex was currently not doing anything resembling the light activity her actual doctor had finally cleared her for after taking off the brace on her wrist. The mangled remains of her leg cast also pull Maggie's attention from ogling the toned curve of her ex's back as she dodged clumsily but fully from the swaying workout bag she was working with.
"Seems Alex wants to be ready to join the rescue team." Winn summarizes with a grin at Maggie's tangible upset on the subject.
"The hell she will be." The cop grumbles already shedding her jacket readying for the fight to come.
"Go get your girl Captain." Winn smiled helpfully pushing open the door with a warning "Oh Alex, seems Mamma Bear's reinforcements have arrived." Before quickly taking his leave mostly to go make another coffee run for the other heard working Danvers ladies and leave Alex in Maggie's capable hands.
The hard rattling of several glass somethings pauses Cole's latest escape attempt as she risks crawling as close as she could get within the confines of the heating vent. One of the few places the big men supposed to be guarding her couldn't easily follow once they realized she wasn't in fact needing to use the bathroom again.
"and may I remind you that my part in this job is over." Whoever it was searching the glass whatever they were reminded over the sounds of something liquidy pouring into a cup before the man speaks again "I was the one that found out where Melody had been moved to. I was the one that gave you a clear opening to get that girl of yours back, and in return you botched…"
"and I'm grateful for your help, Max, truly but I wasn't risking Nikki's life just to settle whatever score you have with that woman." Was the growled answer to this making Cole's blood run cold at the very thought of losing her Mommy.
"Yet by letting Danvers live you've done far worse."
Cole smiles at just how scared the first man seemed to be of her Mommy. As he should be.
"You're not a father are you, Lord?"
Another sloshing pour of liquid and a scoffed "Why waste my time on brats when there are far better uses of my time?"
"Is that why you tried to sleep with my Melody?"
"She was far from yours by then," the one called Max points out. "and as a talent agent it would have been my job to assess all of Mel's capabilities if Danvers hadn't literally been right down the hall and a threat to everything if she'd found me out."
"But she didn't."
"Yet." Max stressed followed by the hard shattering crunch of a glass being thrown against a wall. "and now you've made my job of covering up your messes even harder by adding an accessory to kidnapping to this latest list of charges."
"Was that really necessary?"
"Ssshh, did you hear that?" Max quieted making Cole freeze in panic as the quick warning scrap of a chair follows the growled question. Right under the vent cover, she was listening from.
All thoughts of being quiet vanish as Cole crawls as fast as she was able to back the way she'd come. The steely gray of the vent floor smeared red with her blood as she moved.
Not fast enough considering the hard yanking pull Cole feels at the top of her head followed by an angered "Where do you think you're going?" as the one called Max literally drags her out of the vent by her hair.
