Spellotape

Child of Evilness and Darkness
A/N: This is the extremely OOC sequel to Seventeen, which also happens to be the first thing I've written in ages that's worth posting. More fics are (hopefully) coming soon, but for now, enjoy Spellotape.
Disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter. Did you really think I did…?
For Kasumi, my fellow crazy lovesick puppy!
"Ginny," she said in a dreamily, "I'm scared."
The redheaded confidante gazed at her friend. "How so?"
"We're in a relationship," she replied matter-of-factly. "I've never been in a relationship before, and love is one thing you can't learn from books. And what if it doesn't work out? Because a broken heart is one thing you can't mend with Spellotape," she said, twirling a strand of hair around her finger.
"How poetic," the carrot top replied, stretching and assuming her companion's dreamy expression.
"We're just a couple of crazy lovesick… lovesick…"
"Puppies," the other suggested. "Crazy lovesick puppies."
In another room in the same old house, he and his confidante were having a similar discussion.
"Harry," he said with a peculiar expression on his face, "I'm scared."
The other stared at his friend in a questioning manner. "How so?"
"We're in a relationship," he replied, a queer shade of green permeating his face. "I've never been in a relationship before. And this is with Hermione. What if it doesn't work out? I would ruin our friendship. And… and it's like… I don't know, a broken heart is the only thing you can't mend with Spellotape."
"You're crazy," the other replied after a bit more staring on his part. "Crazy and lovesick."
An hour later, the two met by the pond. He was extremely nervous. So was she, but in a different way.
She wasn't what most would call beautiful. Her hair was bushy, and she was as thin as a rail. He saw the beauty in her, though. The way her chocolaty eyes looked so warm when she laughed, the way the freckles on her nose danced when she was excited about something, be it house elves or an exam or France. He loved everything about her, and he knew he could never let her go.
And he knew she would never break his heart. Isn't that what love is, after all? Giving someone the power to break your heart, and trusting that they won't.
Because well… love is forever.
He took her into his arms. "I love you," he whispered.
"I love you, too," she replied. And she knew her heart would never need Spellotape, because, well… love is forever.
After what felt like eternity in a moment, they parted. "Hermione, we're nearly eighteen…" he said, gazing into those loving eyes, eyes that obviously mirrored a beautiful soul.
"…And?"
He took her hands and smiled. "And we'll never need Spellotape."
Back in that old house, the confidantes sat together, gazing out the window at the pair.
"They're just a couple of crazy, lovesick…"
"…Puppies," the girl supplied, smiling at the boy.
And somehow, as the confidantes watched their friends, their hands met…
A/N: Grr, another übershort fic. This was really laborious to write, though, so please take the time to make sure my efforts are not in vain and review! Please?
