Yo guys it's the author here, just wanted to say my thanks again for all the follows, likes and reviews, secondly I've seen at least 2 reviews talking about the name of my character. My character's name is Danno which is pronounced as 'dah-noh' . I realized upon a reread of my last chapter that I butchered the name and sometimes mixed up the O and A placement writing Donna instead. I apologize, this is a simple spelling error I should have caught, going forward I'll be sure to triple check the spelling of all of my OC's names. I'd also like to say that the inspiration for this name comes from the fact that not only does my own name start with a D, but also that Danno translates to 'field-gathering' which I thought would be neat as it relates to item farming from dungeons and such. With that said, let's get back to the story.
I do not own Naruto, The Gamer, or any of the characters, only the OC's.
Chapter 3
Due to sleeping in a bed, HP and CP have been fully restored!
That was the message I awoke to the next day. 'I don't understand I didn't even lose any HP or CP yesterday, how could something I didn't lose be restored?'.
…
Due to sleeping in a bed, HP and CP have been fully restored!
I looked at the screen with a deadpan expression
'Whatever, what else did I expect from the system?' I thought to myself as yet another notification popped up. 'I get it, my HP and CP have been fully restored, you don't need to tell me 20 times!' I said aloud while pulling up the message prompt.

Hmmm it seems like the system has finally started to give me more quests. Maybe I needed to be able to leave the orphanage for most of the quests to trigger?
For thinking Logically you have Gained 1 INT stat!
Well that solves the mystery of why I got almost no quests in the last 5 years, the damn system should have told me this from the start!I've done more chores than I'd like to admit. Hell at one point I even snuck into Mrs. Haruka's office, praying that a quest would trigger due to something I found!
I wonder what those question marks are though? The system never mentioned anything about hidden objectives… whatever, I'm definitely not going to pass up a quest opportunity, I thought while selecting the Y button.
The rest of my morning passed quickly as I bathed, did my chores and ate breakfast. I was eager to get into the library to see if I could find any materials to help me train. Sure I could use my preexisting knowledge on exercise to build up my body but those are exercises for a normal human, not a superhuman that can break a bolder with their bare firsts.
'Hey Emiko, I'm planning on heading to the library today, you want to come?' I asked as we walked towards the gates.
Emiko looked at me like I had grown a second head. "Why would you want to go to the library when we still have so much of the village left to explore? I like reading just as much as you do, but it's only the second day since we've been able to leave the orphanage grounds!"
'Well I thought it would be a good idea to try to find some material to help prepare for the academy, with us being orphans we'll need every advantage we can get' I reasoned 'and I also need to get started on that quest as soon as possible!' I thought to myself.
"Geez, we still have an entire year before the academy begins. We should take it easy and enjoy ourselves before it starts."
'Clan kids have been training since they were 4, and they still find time to enjoy themselves' I countered, 'also it would be a good idea to at least see what they have available'
"UGHHHHHH, fine, I hate it when you use your head! Can you stop being smart for 10 seconds!"
'No' I replied coolly, 'This is why I'm the smart, good looking older brother and you're the adorably violent little sister' I called out as I began to run knowing shit would hit the fan.
"No, I'm the older sister here. I was born before you and… wait… WHO'RE YOU CALLING VIOLENT!" Emiko roared as she took off after me.
Over the course of the next 20 minutes the inhabitants of the hidden leaf village were exposed to the sounds of laughing, unintelligible shouts, and eventual screams.
By the time we had reached the library, I had gained a multitude of bumps on my head. 'Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned' I mumbled to myself upon walking through the door.
"Sorry, did you say something?" Emiko asked while wearing an all too sweet smile.
'No, nothing' I replied quickly.
"Good" she chirped happily, "It's my duty as your older sister to knock you around when you need it!" Emiko declared loudly.
"SHHHHHHHH" an older looking lady sounded while pointing at a 'Keep Quiet In Library' sign.
"Hehe, sorry" Emiko said quietly while shooting the librarian a sheepish smile.
'Observer' I thought while looking at the Librarian.
Name: Karen Sasaki
Level: ?
Rep:0
Karen Sasaki is a retired shinobi that took up a job in the library due to her love of books after sustaining a crippling injury during the third shinobi war.
'Well it makes sense that they would hire a retired shinobi, this is where most of the knowledge about Konoha is located… but seriously? Karen? That's definitely not a Japanese name' I mused to myself while walking over to her.
'I apologize for my friend's behavior miss' I began, 'you see we've only been allowed to leave our orphanage recently and my friend, loving books as much as she does, was a bit overwhelmed by the amount the library has, isn't that right Emiko?' I asked while shooting her a strained smile.
"Aha, yea, sorry I just got really existed by the amount of books"
20 Rep gained with Karen Sasaki
2 CA stats gained
Karen's gaze softened, "Well that's alright, please just remember to keep quiet so you don't disturb everyone else"
We'll keep that in mind, also if you don't mind me asking, miss…
"Karen, you can call me Karen" she spoke up with a smile.
'Ok, well Karen-san then, we were wondering if there was any materials open to us about shinobi related topics, were going to be starting the academy next term and wanted to get a headstart on our studies'
"Oh we don't have much available I'm afraid. Most materials covered in the academy are located in the academy library and anything higher requires proof of rank to access the material" she paused for a second in thought, "We do have some basic scrolls on body conditioning as well as the academy taijutsu style, if your interested those can be found in the back of the civilian section"
Well it's better than nothing, 'Thanks a lot Karen-san' I said while dragging Emiko with me.
True to what Karen had said all I could find was a scroll on basic body conditioning and the basic academy taijutsu style. This didn't deter me though as I also picked out a few books on the history of the hidden leaf as well as a book on shogi.
"I understand the history books but why the book on shogi?" questioned Emiko
'Well I heard that shogi can help develop your strategy and tactics' It would also give me something to bond with shikamaru over I added as an afterthought.
She shot me a questioning look "I doubt it, how could something as simple as a board game help you develop something as important as battlefield tactics?"
I shrugged, 'maybe it will maybe it won't, either way it won't hurt to learn how to play'
"Well whatever, let's see if we can check out these books so we can get back to exploring"
After we checked out our books we went back to exploring, I didn't find anything noteworthy this time around which was fine, I had found most of what I needed already. One area that did pique my interest though was the clan district. Sadly we weren't allowed to enter the district without being a registered shinobi or a clan member. The guard mentioned something about a kidnapping attempt that took place 2 years ago was the reason for heightened security.
So Hinata's kidnapping attempt already happened, I thought to myself as we headed back in the direction of the orphanage. I know that there was nothing I could do to change it, but that didn't stop me from telling myself I could've changed it.
Just how much of this world relates to the cannon story, how many events should I change? Hell should I even change anything at all? This is my second chance, should I really put myself at greater risk by changing events if everything works out in the end?
I was so deep in thought that I didn't realize that we had made it back to the orphanage. "Hey Danno, you alright?" I heard Emiko ask, snapping me out of my thoughts.
'Yea, sorry just thinking about things'. My reply though didn't seem to satisfy Emiko.
"Come on I can tell something's bothering you, you're never this quiet" she said with a frown.
'Well It's just... ' I began while trying to come up with a response that wouldn't raise suspicion, I trusted Emiko a lot but asking her a hypothetical, what would you do?, about an event that will take place in the future would land me in the TNI department.
'Remember the book we read on the founding of Konoha?' I finally asked.
"The one that described the unification of the Senju and Uchiha clans? What about it?"
'Well I was just thinking, if you were to know what would happen in the future between Hasirama and Madara, would you try to stop it? Would you risk your life to prevent Madara from defecting even though it could change everything we now know about the village?'
"Well that's a dumb question, Hasirama and Madara were some of the strongest shinobi to ever live. To change anything you'd need to first be on there level of strength"
'But if you could change what happened, would you?'
"I don't know" she replied with a shrug "What I do know is that it's dumb to get so worked up over something you can't change, so stop overthinking impossibilities"
'Yea, you're right, sorry to worry you over nothing'. If only you knew, I thought to myself as we separated into our different rooms.
While my conversation with Emiko didn't answer my question, it did reinforce my goal of getting stronger. 'As strong as Hasirama and Madara huh?' I thought to myself while gazing at the scrolls and books I had checked out from the library. 'Well that kind of strength doesn't just manifest overnight' I told myself while opening the basic body conditioning scroll.
The next 6 months went by in a similar fashion. I would wake up, go through my routine at the orphanage, then leave with Emiko to either explore the village, play in the park, study at the library, or train my body and taijutsu. I had tried to enter the weapons shop I had seen but sadly I needed to at least be a 4th year academy student to purchase anything.
I had also unsurprisingly gained basic body conditioning, basically academy taijutsu, and shogi as skills. I had easily leveled up my conditioning skill, as it only involved simple stamina and strength building exercises. Shogi had also leveled up quite a bit as I continued to dominate Emiko in our games much to her frustration. My taijutsu however, had begun to stagnate a bit. I reasoned that you could only level up a combat skill so much without actually using said skill in combat. This thought led me to seek out Kiba more frequently, as his family had begun to teach him their clan's fighting style.
While I had originally only gotten close to Kiba for my own benefit, the more time I spent around Kiba, the more I realized that he wasn't just the loud and brash idiot with the dog the anime and manga portrayed him as. While those were still aspects of his character, I learned that he was fiercely loyal to his friends and would go out of his way to help those that needed it, even if his methods could be considered unorthodox. It was because of this idea of helping someone in need that led us to our current situation.
We had been having a normal day in the park for the most part. We had met up around 12 to practice our taijutsu, and were on our way to meet up with the usual group of kids to play ninja when Kiba suddenly stopped and turned his head towards the direction of the woods.
'What's up man? Don't tell me you smell a cat again?' I teased.
"It was only that one time" Kiba grumbled while his face flushed red from embarrassment, "but no, I'm pretty sure I hear crying coming from the woods".
'You sure? I don't hear anything,' I said while gazing into the trees with narrowed eyes.
"I'm sure, now common, it won't hurt to check" Kiba said as he took off.
'Alright, but I'm not going to be the one to explain to Emiko why we were late if this ends up being nothing.' I called out
As me and Kiba raced through the tree's I started to hear the sounds of crying accompanied by what seemed to be 3 other voices, I motioned for Kiba to stop as I activated my eavesdropping skill as we peaked out from behind a tree.
"Look at this pupiless freak!"
"You think you're so much better than the rest of us just because you're from a clan huh?"
"We'll show you not to underestimate us civilians!"
What greeted us was the sight of what looked to be 3 older boys ganging up on a girl that was around our age. I glanced over at Kiba knowing he hated those who picked on people weaker than them more than anything else. "It's not the way a pact should operate," I remembered Kiba telling me.
I was about to say something to Kiba when I noticed that the girl who was being bullied seemed familiar. My eyes suddenly widened, 'Observe' I mentally called out, this can't be who I think it is can it?
Name: Hinata Hyuga
Level: 6
Hinata Hyuga is the current heiress of the Hyuga clan, she is however looked down upon by most members of her clan for her timid and shy nature.
'It is her! To think I would run into another member of the rookie 9 so soon' I thought to myself as a prompt from the system popped into view.

I looked at the quest prompt and back at the bullies, I should probably check their levels before I accept this quest as they've probably already started the academy. I thought while casting Observe on the 3 boys.
For making a wise decision you have gained 1 WIS stat!
I Ignored the message as I looked at the 3 boys, 2 of them were level 8 while the one who appeared to be the leader was level 9. 'They're definitely stronger than us, but if we can get the drop on them we might just have a chance' I thought while mentally accepting the quest.
I looked back at Kiba and placed my hand on his shoulder, 'I know you hate those who pick on the weak but we have to be smart about this if we want to help'
"Then what do you suppose we do?"
I took a moment to think, due to the nature of Kiba's clan techniques he had gotten faster and more nimble over the last 6 months, while I was no slouch when it came to speed, my height and greater strength made me better suited for direct confrontations.
'I'll walk up and distract them, meanwhile you sneak around from behind and rush their blind spots once I begin my attack' I finally responded with.
Kiba nodded his head in confirmation and broke off from me as I slowly walked into the clearing. 'Hey, what're you guys doing all the way out here?' I called out as I walked towards them.
The group of boys stiffened a bit until they turned around and saw that I was alone. "None of your business" the leader said, "Yea get lost!" the one I had dubbed goon 1 called out.
"Ah well it seems to me that you are ganging up on a girl that's younger than you? Or are my eyes deceiving me?" I questioned while approaching the leader.
"We're not picking on anyone! We're just teaching this stuck up Hyuga not to look down on us civilians!" goon 2 exclaimed.
"Hyuga? You mean that clan of stuck up pricks that believe themselves to be Kami's reincarnation due to their bloodline?" I asked while adopting a sinister smile.
The leader looked at me with a smirk, "Seems you understand our reasoning" he said while approaching me, "How about you join us? It's always nice to meet another civilian willing to take matters into his own hands when it comes to clans" he said while extending his hand. "Names Jiro".
I looked at Hinata and shot her a wink which seemed to greatly confuse the terrified girl. Danno, I said while grasping his hand 'you should remember the name of the one who's going to kick your ass!' I said while winding my leg back.
"Wha…" Jiro tried to say as I kicked him in between his legs as hard as I could. His eyes comically seemed to pop out of his head as he fell to the ground clutching his manhood.
Critical strike performed!
No shit I thought to myself while I kicked Jiros head for good measure, any male would go down for the count after a hit like that.
"You bitch!" I heard goon 1 cry out as he attempted to rush me only to get blindsided by Kibas fist connecting with his stomach.
Realizing that Jiro was out of commission for the moment I turned my attention towards goon 2. He seemed to freeze at the sudden attack, which helped as I rushed at him. I aimed a punch at his exposed midsection which he sloppily blocked, only for me to drop to the group and perform a leg sweep which connected, his back slammed into the ground knocking the wind out of him. As he tried to regain his breath I put my foot on his chest.
'You look like a smart enough guy so I'll only say this once' I said while fixing him with a steely gaze, 'I dislike those who gang up and bully others, if I catch any of you doing this again, an ass kicking will be the least of your problems, do I make myself clear?'.
Goon 2 nodded with wide eyes filled with terror, 'Good' I said while looking over just in time to catch Kiba finishing off goon 1.
'Take your friends and get out of our sight' I said to goon 2 as I removed my foot from his chest. 'and remember this ass kicking every time you think about ganging up on someone!' I shouted as goon 1 and 2 picked Jiro off the ground and stumbled away.
I looked over at Kiba and we both grinned at each other.
"That was probably the corniest line I've ever heard," he said to me as we high-fived.
'Yea it might've been corny but I definitely looked badass while saying it'
"Whatever I definitely looked more badass than you, did you see me blindside that guy?"
'Whatever man, we were both badass let's leave it at that'
"Yea but on a real note" he said while fixing me with a stern glare "If you ever pull a move like that on me during our spars, then I'll shove my foot so far up yo…"
"Ummm" we both stopped our bickering and looked towards the form of Hinata as she rose to her feet. "Th… thank … y… you, fo… for… helping… m… me" she squeaked out.
'It's no problem, I just don't like seeing others getting ganged up on' I replied while rubbing the back of my head sheepishly. 'I'm Danno and the guy over there is Kiba, he might look scary but he's a good guy'
"I'm not scary looking! Hey tell me, do I look scary to you?" Kiba asked while getting up in Hinata's face.
"Eep!" she said while taking a few steps back due to the sudden proximity.
'HAHAHA' I burst out laughing while rolling on the ground, 'See I told you that you scare people easily'
A raincloud suddenly appeared over Kiba's head "I'm not scary looking I swear, my mom says I'm very handsome" he mumbled to himself.
Hinata looked at us with an unreadable expression before giggling slightly, which turned into full blown laughter.
Me and Kiba both stopped what we were doing and looked at each other with wide eyes.
'Am I seeing things or is that a Hyuga laughing in front of us?' I questioned.
"I don't think you're seeing things, unless we're both under some sort of genjutsu then that's definitely a laughing Hyuga" He responded after rubbing his eyes a few times.
"S… sorry…" She said after regaining her composure, "M… My names… Hin… Hinata, It's n… nice… to meet… y… you both"
"Well anyways what were you doing all the way out here in the first place?" questioned Kiba.
"A…ahh, yo… you… see I was… loo… looking for… flow… flowers" she said with a blush adoring her face, "I li… like flower pre… pressing"
I looked around for a second before my eyes landed on a blue flower, I plucked it out and handed it to Hinata, 'Well now that those bullies are gone you should take this and start heading home' I said while giving her a smile, 'I don't want to risk those guys coming back after we leave'. It might've seemed like a bit much to most but I really wanted to solidify a friendship with Hinata early.
Hinata turned beet red and was about to respond when we all heard a voice off in the distance. "Lady Hinata, are you ok?" the voice questioned as an older looking Hyuga suddenly dropped down from the trees above us.
"I'm alri… alright K… Ko-san" Hinata said "I… I was ju… just picking flo… flowers when some bo… boys decided t… to start so… some trouble wi… with me, lu… luckily Danno-san and Kiba-san here de… dealt with th… them" she explained "I'm so… sorry I… if I worried y… you"
Ko looked at us and bowed, "I thank you for helping lady Hinata Danno-san, Kiba-san, however we must be leaving now"
'Ah that's alright we just did the right thing' I explained 'Also please, just call me Danno, honorifics aren't needed Ko-san, the same goes for you Hinata'
"Yea, you can call me Kiba as well" Kiba pipped in.
"It wa… was nice me… meeting you… both" Hinata said while being escorted away by Ko.
'See you around Hinata' I called back with a wave.
"You know we should probably go meet up with the others now?" Kiba questioned.
'Yea go on ahead of me, I need to take a quick leek' I said while walking off into the woods. I really only wanted to check out all the message prompts from the system but Kiba obviously didn't need to know that.
"Alright but don't take too long" he called out as he began to walk back in the direction of the park. "You know Emiko hates having to wait for others!"
As Kiba left, I started to go through the message prompts and to say I was pleased with what I saw would be an understatement.

I nodded my head in satisfaction. 'Maybe I should ask some of the caretakers at the orphanage to play shogi with me?' I'm not called Emiko dumb by any means, it's just that as of right now shogi is the only reliable way I know of to raise my WIS stat. I was brought out of thoughts by a voice that came from behind me.
"Why did you help her?"
'Huh?' was my intelligent reply as I spun around to face my unknown questioner.
"Why did you help her?" A girl with long black hair and black eyes questioned again, "Someone of her clan, especially when she's not only a main branch member but the clan heiress should've easily been able to deal with those three idiots" she explained with a stoic expression.
'Ummm, because it was the right thing to do and she needed help? Also where the hell did you even come from?' I responded unsure of what point this girl was trying to make.
"She shouldn't have needed help. If she had used what her clan taught her, she wouldn't have shamed her clan by needing to be saved" the girl said before narrowing her eyes, "Unless you were simply trying to get close to the Hyuga clan heir in the same manner you did with the Inuzuka heir?"
I narrowed my eyes at the girl, while she wasn't entirely wrong in the sense that I was trying to get close to clan heirs, I also wasn't actively searching them out or anything. I wanted to get close to them not because they were necessarily clan heirs, but because they were the center of the story I had knowledge of, them being the heirs and heiress of clans just happened to be an added benefit. Getting close to them was a safer option for me in the long run and hey, it's not like I was only befriending them for my own gains. Kiba for example will progress much faster then he did in the anime because of us training together, and I could probably help Hinata out with her confidence issues.
'That's not it at all, first of all I didn't know she was a clan heiress until you told me and I met Kiba in the park months ago. If the clans were so worried about civilians and others getting close to their heirs then they shouldn't let them out of the clan compounds' I countered 'and isn't it the job of someone who's strong to help others who need it?' Now I might've been tooting my own horn a bit but I felt that I deserved it. I had just beat a Lvl 8 and 9 by myself without taking any damage, sneak attack or not be damned I was proud of myself.
The girl's eyes widened momentarily before returning back to their stoic demeanor. "She still shouldn't have needed your help in the first place, she could have retained her clan's pride" she replied.
'Whatever, pride had nothing to do with this, I helped her when she needed it and that's all that matters, getting help when you need it doesn't make you weak' I said while walking away, 'Oh and my names Danno in case you were wondering' I added as an afterthought.
You have gained 1 CA stat!
"Kano" she said in what should have been a barely audible whisper, luckily for me my eavesdropping skill allowed me to hear it.
Tami huh? What a strange girl. I thought to myself before my eyes widened and I took off in a burst of speed. Emikos is going to kill me for taking this long! I thought while desperately running towards our usual meeting spot.
Kano's POV:
Danno was an enigma to her. He reminded her so much of her older brother in not only his ideals, but also his entire demeanor. She was confused however by his motives for acting in such a way. When she first saw him all of those months ago he appeared to be just another civilian born that was attempting to get close to a clan heir.
She was a bit jealous of the fact that someone of a clan, a clan heir to be exact, was allowed to act in such a manner. She supposed though that the Inuzukas were allowed more freedom in how they acted. The Inuzuka clan didn't demand their members to be perfect representations of the clan's strength like her own did. Now she was by no means denouncing just how valuable as a clan the Inuzuka were, her history tutors had been very thorough in their lessons about all the different clans. She was simply envious that the Inuzuka heir didn't need to adopt a mask of stoicism when in public to keep up appearances.
What surprised her the most however, was the way Danno seemed to attract the attention of those around him. She witnessed as the group of kids who had put the Inuzuka heir at the center of their group began to slowly open up a path for Danno to stand next to him at the center. It had baffled her for months, how could a civilian worm his way into gaining the same attention that a clan heir received? What made it worse was that Danno himself seemed unaware of this fact despite the intelligence she saw in his eyes.
She happened to be in the woods that day to get away from her clan when she heard the crying, she had decided to investigate and what greeted her made her blood boil. There in the clearing was the Hyuga clan heiress getting bullied by 3 older boys, now while she was mad that the boys were ganging up on someone, what truly made her blood boil was that someone of the Hyuga clan, the heiress at that, wasn't fighting back. It enraged her to no end that someone from a clan as respected for their strength as her own was allowing this to happen. She did feel a bit bad for the girl, but those thoughts were quickly replaced by images of what would happen to her if she was in the same position. At best she would be shamed, at worst… she didn't want to think about it.
It was then that she saw Danno and the Inuzuka heir crouched behind some trees. She was curious as to what they were doing out here when she saw Danno place his hand on the Inuzuka heir's shoulder and whisper something to him, 'are they seriously going to help her?' she thought to herself. She watched as he formulated a plan that the Inuzuka clan heir followed without a second thought, dispatch 2 older academy students by himself, and then act as if nothing happened as he joked around and bickered with the Inuzuka heir.
It wasn't until she had questioned him after he had rescued the Hyuga heiress that she had begun to understand why others were elevating him to the same level as the Inuzuka heir. He was a natural born leader, one who treated everyone the same regardless of whether you were from a clan or not. He didn't see the Hyuga heiress or the Inuzuka heir as clan heirs, he saw them as simply someone to play with and someone who needed help. 'Perhaps I've finally found someone who will see me as Kano instead of just Kano Uchihia' she thought as some of the childness she usually repressed leaked out in the form of a small smile.
Hey guys it's the author again, this chapter took me a while to write as not only did I get side tracked when I began thinking up some rough ideas for ideas I'll be using in the future, but also that it took me a while to write Kanos introduction. This is my first time writing a female OC (besides Emiko but I wrote her to be a generic 'big sister' type of character) and I wanted to do it right. Anyways what do you guys think about adding the POV's of some of the side characters at the end? I saw this is a story called 'Game of Shadows' by Adrian King1 (it's a great story that's still ongoing so check it out) and I wanted to see if I could implement it to give my story the perspective of an outsider looking in. The next chapter might be a bit shorter as well so I can finish up the preparation for the academy, or I might do another time jump a month before he enters. Well anyways I'm rambling so I'll end this little note here.
