Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter, and will never own anything of Harry Potter other than the books and movies! If I did, Sirius would never have fallen through the veil, and Harry would have been able to convince everyone that Sirius was innocent!

Warning: Spoilers of Book Three through Five! If you do not want to find out what happens before you read the books, then do not read this story! And do not blame me if you do, because I gave you a fair warning.

Remembering Sirius Black

His Life…

By Ronin S. Oath

Sirius Black came from a Pure-Blood family. Like most pure-bloods, his family generally despised half-bloods, muggle-borns and muggles.

His little brother, Regulus, was a Death Eater who died under Voldemort's order…

Sirius was always quite a troublemaker. Together with James Potter, they sailed through Hogwarts School, both being the most brilliant and also the most mischievous boys in school. They were popular and admired.

Sirius was friends with two other boys, Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew...

His best friend becoming Remus.

Together, he and his friends (minus Remus) became Animagi at the age of fifteen.

And Sirius became a huge black dog, much like the creature his friend (Remus) became on the nights of a full moon.

They also wrote the Marauders Map- A map of Hogwarts.

Not all of their fun was innocent, however…

One time, Sirius nearly killed their arch-enemy, Severus Snape!

After they left school, Sirius kept in close contact with his three friends.

However, Voldemort was gaining power and it was known that one of the four men was sending information to him...

When the Potters became Voldemort's new target, Sirius offered to become a secret-keeper for them...

At the last minute, however, Sirius asked Peter to be the secret-keeper instead of him, because he knew Voldemort would be suspicious of himself...

Then Peter took the information to Voldemort and the Potters were murdered.

Sirius cornered Peter the next day, but Peter yelled for everyone to hear that Sirius had betrayed the Potters. He then blew the street apart with his wand behind his back, cut off his finger and transformed into a rat so that everyone would think he was dead...

Everyone believed that Sirius had killed Peter and a street full of muggles...

Sirius was immediately proclaimed guilty and sent to Azkaban without a trial!

The only ones who knew of Sirius's innocence were Peter and, of course, Sirius himself.

Because Sirius knew he was innocent, he had this feeling in him that the Dementors of Azkaban could not suck out...

Twelve years later, Fudge was visiting Azkaban and gave Sirius a copy of the Daily Prophet in which Sirius noticed Ron holding Peter in rat-form...

He knew he must escape, and he wanted his revenge!

He was so thin, he was able to transform and slip through the bars and escape, where he then traveled to Hogwarts.

After many risky situations, he was finally able to convince Harry, Ron, Hermione, Lupin and Dumbledore of the truth!

Yet it was not enough to give him freedom...

For no one would believe Lupin (a werewolf) and three children.

And he had to flee again with Buckbeak the Hippogriff...

He kept in contact with Harry, giving him advice and hope, as well as fatherly love.

When Voldemort returned, Black offered his childhood home for the headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix.
