Pain
By Moon Without a Sun
Nagi sat against the wall, feeling the snow drift slowly on top of him. He was…somewhere, leaning against…something. 'Does it even matter? It's not like anyone's going to care. '
The telekinetic sighed deeply, beginning a rhythmic beating of his head against the wall. Nothing really mattered anymore. Nothing ever had. Why waste your time looking for something that will only kill you in the end? Ha. He was already dead.
'Maybe, if I stay here long enough, I'll be dead by the time they find me. Really dead. And I won't have to deal with it anymore: this pain, this horror. But that's all life is: pain. And it never goes away. Never.
They say that love is the cure for pain. But I have never been loved, never. There isn't a person in this world who doesn't think I'm a freak, who doesn't wish I were dead. Maybe I'll make them all happy.'
Nagi lifted himself high into the air, until he was miles above the rooftops. Then, he let go. His power diminished, and he plummeted back to the earth. "Peace, peace at last." He whispered into the night as he fell, his elation lost in the wind. Red painted the crisp white snow, and the night dove into silence.
The next morning, early shoppers found the body of a young boy. Innocent and pure, the medics cried at the angelic smile on his face.
