He sat on the wooden bench placed inside the locker room, his head in his hands. He stared at the title that was sitting next to him. He took it into his hand and smiled cynically. This was what he wanted-what he worked so hard for- but at the same time, it cost him everything. He closed his eyes as he let his mind wander off to last week's events.
Evolution had interfered-as usual- and helped him win his match against the Rabid Wolverine. Naturally he was grateful, even if the win wasn't very honorable. Nonetheless, he was proud and tears came to his eyes when his former friends went to congratulate him. Batista put his arms around him and gave him a hug, and he returned it appreciatively. Hunter whispered in his ears words of praise and acclaim.
"Good job," he had said.
At the time Randy thought he had meant it. Unbeknownst to him…he thought differently. Thoughts that were bordering on danger and malice. Batista then hoisted him onto his shoulders. He happily raised his arms up in victory. Hunter was grinning at him, and raised his thumbs. Randy smiled back at him, thinking it was just some innocuous gesture. Suddenly, Hunter turned his thumbs upside down, and his smile vanished, replaced with a cold glare. Randy felt his stomach drop and knew something was wrong. Before he could sort it out, Batista gave him a power bomb, his signature move. He lay on the mat, barely conscious. All he could hear was Batista shouting at him.
"You're nothing without Evolution, nothing!"
Hunter took his belt and rammed itroughly into his face, causing blood to stream down. He couldn't open his eyes—or rather chose not to, as he could not stare into the faces of the people who he thought were his friends. They were supposed to be a team, unbreakable and inseparable. But now he knew, friendship only lasted if they are willing to take the backseat. There was no room for success unless Hunter allowed it. He also realized that jealously was a dangerous thing. He was the proof of it.
As he came back to reality, he opened his eyes. He wouldn't get anywhere if he kept dwelling in the past. He knew he had to move on and learn from this grim experience. He remembered those T-shirts Austin used to wear. Don't trust anybody. Boy, wasn't he right. From now on, he had to be alert at all times. And when he make friends, he would choose them carefully. And never would he join another group. Who knew when they would eventually turn on him.
He turned to the television screen hanging on the wall. Evolution had came out and Hunter was speaking on the mike.
"Randy come out here and hand me your title."
He smirked. If Hunter thought he would just willingly give him the World Championship belt, then he was not only jealous and petty, but insane as well. He stood up and decided to pay his pal a little visit. After all, didn't they say 'keep your friends close, but keep your enemies closer'?
I decided to write about when Evolution betrayed Randy. Yeah, I added some stuff and changed the words a bit cause I forgot the exact dialogue. R&R!
