Why Don't You and I?

By: Tsugi

"Hey Carter!" Jack yells as Sam jogs past him with am arm load of Goa'uld technology. She stops and turns around.

"Yeah? Colonel, what's up?"

"Here, let me take some of that." He says and reaches to take her load.

"Sure." She says, a little surprised. "What did you need?"

"Oh, nothin much." He smiles at her.

She sighs, still smiling. "I can't go fishing."

"Sam, I order you…" He begins.

"Colonel, I have got to study these new Goa'uld…"

"Come on, for cryin' out loud!"

She sighs again, just as Hammond comes around the corner. "Major Carter." He addressed.

"Yes, sir?"

"I figured you would deny your vacation again so I took the liberty of assigning a few members of SG-17 to study the new technologies we have acquired."

"But…sir…
"No, Major, you're taking some time off if I have to court-martial you to do so."

Once again she sighs in exasperation and rolls her eyes. Jack's smiled gets bigger (if that's even possible).

"Just leave the items here and SG-17 will be along momentarily to pick them up."

"Yes, sir." She mumbled. "I was really looking forward to that."

"Sam," Jack said, "so, now that you're free. Why don't you and I…"

"Yes, Colonel, I'll go fishing with you."

"Finally!"

A Few Days Later

Fishing in the Fishless Pond

"I love the empty sound of nothingness." Jack says, relaxing with his fishing pole in hand at the end of the little dock. Carter walks up with a lawn chair, umbrella, and a radio. She turns the radio on.

"Carter! What are you doing!? You'll scare the fish!"

"Sir." She replies, "there have never been any fish in this pond."

"So?"

She rolls her eyes and tries to find a good station.

"Hey! Go back." Jack cries suddenly.

She does so to find a Santana song playing. She looks up at him. "Why don't you and I?" She questions.

"What? I like that song."

Carter sighs, but has to smile. If there was one thing she could count on it was the Colonel and his eccentricities. Perhaps this trip would not be as bad as she thought…

Believe it or not, I was in the shower when I thought this one up. I have a "Shower Radio" and I was just flippin stations. Ya know, tryin to find something good. I heard "Why don't you and I?" and instantly thought, "Oh, Jack and Sam!" So, that's it. R&R pleases.
