Tittle: Peace
Disclaimer: Nope, don't own lord of the rings (yet)
I found this today when I was going through my old files. It's not the greatest, and it's kind of… random, but it's a sweet little fic, and I felt like posting it.
"Give up the halfling, She-Elf!"
The screams of the Ringwraiths filled the air, then all was silent as the water washed over them…
Arwen woke up with a start. She looked at Aragorn, sleeping next to her. Sighing softly, she felt her heart melt, as it did every time she looked at him. She lay back down on her pillow, and thought about why she had gone to save Frodo from the Ringwraith just a few years ago.
Arwen realized that she only had two reasons for why she left Imladris and faced the Ringwraiths. One was obvious. She wanted to save Frodo and practically the entire world from Sauron. She also wanted to protect Aragorn. Her Aragorn. Her Estel.
Arwen watched him sleep as she thought about all she went through to marry him. She begged and begged her father, and she hoped. She spent hundreds of nights crying herself to sleep, praying that her Estel was alright.
And he was. Somehow, by some miracle, he survived. Smiling softly, and feeling calmer, she closed her eyes, and tried to sleep, until she heard a small voice say, "Naneth?"
Arwen sat up, and saw her four-year-old, Elwin, standing next to her bed.
"Yes, Elwin?"
"I had a dream that a big bear ate me!"
Arwen laughed softly, and helped Elwin climb into the bed.
"Elwin, I don't think that a bear will eat you. Your Ada and I will make sure of that!"
"Okay, Naneth. Can I sleep with you and Ada tonight?"
"Of course."
The little girl squealed with delight, and arranged herself in a comfortable position. Within a few minutes, she was asleep.
Arwen smiled as she watched her daughter sleep. By this time, Aragorn had woken up, too.
"She's so beautiful when she sleeps," Arwen whispered.
"Well, she is your daughter," Aragorn replied.
Arwen blushed a deep red, and snuggled up against Aragorn. She felt his arms around her, and she watched her daughter sleep. At that moment, she knew that she would risk everything she had to protect her family, even her own life. Feeling safe and sound, she said, "Aragorn?"
"Yes?"
"I love you."
"I love you, too, Arwen," he said as he held her close and gently kissed her. "Good night."
Arwen sighed softly. Safe in Aragorn's arms, with her daughter sleeping peaceful next to her, Arwen felt something that nightmares had denied her… peace. She smiled, and soon fell asleep.
A/N: Yeah, I know it's short. Was it awful or somewhat decent? Please let me know and review!!!!
Have a great day!
