Prologue: Two-Bits
This had to have been the stupidest idea ever. I mean, what wsere our parents thinking? I mean, I'm not exactly a sex-starved, horny teenager, but do my parents trust me that much? Of course, it was all Jack Kelly's idea. E's such a smooth-talker. He could charm his way out of a ticket if he didn't just floor it. But really. I thought my mom was more protective than that! I would've expected her, of all people, to say 'no.'
Kelly, ya damn womanizer!
Jack managed to convince her that it would be a good idea. He said it would be good for me to get away, and it would be good for my ring of friends as well.
So while they were taking Spring Break at the beach, I was going on a week-long road trip with Spot Conlon.
Note: Jack Kelly is now number one on my hit list.
Everyone loves Spot Conlon. The guys love him because he can fight like nobody's business. He's good for entertainment. The girls, however, love him because his big blue eyes and devil-may-care smirk are enough to melt anyone's heart.
Well, 'cept mine.
Spot and I have been rivals through thick and thin. I can't stand the egotistical jerk, and the feelings are nothing less than mutual. Every time we see each other, we go home with at least one bruise or cut, and every time, my mom says, "Spot was at the movies?" or whatever. Sometimes she worries, and she chides me for fighting, but we never do any real damage. My dad says every kid needs a weekly shiner. He says it builds character.
He wanted a son.
But after a while, everyone got sick of it. So they planned a roadtrip and are making us go. Tomorrow.
Just shoot me.
