I am your father? (poem)

I distursted him
I threatened him
I refused to believe him
I lost him
I learned to late
I could have been there
I shouldn't have let my fears take me over
I could be a great father today
I instead burried my head in shame
I cried where he once lay
I could have been there
I should have been there
I hated him all this time
I mistreated him all this time
I am a failure to my son
I am a known father to a hero
I am so proud and so ashamed
I miss you my son
I shall never forget what I had done
I hope in time you will truly forgive me
I have had to overcome so much
I wish I would of known from that start that
I am your father
