Stuffed Animals,
By Winterwing3000
Entering the store, he brushed aside the shopkeeper and darted his eyes to the specific section.
The furry and 'huggable', miniature animals stared at him with black or brown beady eyes. Their noses were somewhat button-like or just more fur as he gently pressed his forefinger on them for inspection. Finally, seeing one near the front, which was somewhat adorable, he picked it up with care and examined carefully at its making.
The triangular, black-stripped markings on the counter color of white had somehow created a camouflage effect, nearly hiding from his keen sight. Its cub ears were the size of his thumb and the hand-made fur would move whenever his hand brushed over it, almost twitching as if they were real. The paws and the long black-tipped tail were hanging limply as he held it up by the stomach, like when a mother would pick up their cubs by the nape of the neck, swishing lightly from the tremble of his arms.
Each hand-made bird she made for him, the more he was confused by her actions. What were her motives? To capture his attention? She already held a power over him, one that he doesn't understand himself. So, in return for her present of befuddlement, a small animal would be waiting for her inside her cubby. However, he was more than pleased when she received his gift because there would always be that smile.
The first time she received it, her mouth was of a frown and her friends would tease her endlessly of having a secret admirer. However, he had saw that glimmer as if she knew something that her friends didn't. As their tiny exchange continued, more different species would appear to her. Varying from fierce hunters to gentle housemates. Every time, her eyes would slowly trace every detail of her gift, from the first stitch to the last hair of fur. Her dark brown tendrils would caress the pale, and most likely delectable skin of her heart-shaped face.
How 'cute'… most would say. However, in his terms… it was more of… delicately attractive, in a childish sense. Not that it mattered. Soft and cuddly looking as it was, it was just a representative to his own questions.
"I'll take this one." He said monotonously as he saw the plump shadow drawn over him, handing him a few bills along with a piece of paper. "And attach that to it like always."
Even though today, the Siberian tiger cub was the lucky winner to be showered with her love… there were more to come just as long as she keeps folding them.
AN: PHEW! I'm proud to say, she's done! The story vaulted from a sudden inspiration. I found a picture album of my mother's younger times in America and discovered a picture where my auntie and ma were sitting in their room, hugging their own teddy bears! (They were sooo adorable! –squeals!!!-) And thanks to my own animal collection, I was able to pull this one off! But the tiger is for my friend, since she loves Siberian Tigers more than Bangle Tigers, the ones that I love… and the whole story is to the reviewers of 'Paper Cranes'!!! Arigatou!!!
