How Much Do You Love Me?

---

"Sasuke-kun, how much do you love me?"

"More than the fish love the sea."

I watch as he laughs, and runs off into the sparkling cool waters of the ocean.

Will you ever say those words back to me?

No, it's okay; I'm happy if you're happy.

---

"Sasuke-chan, how much do you love me?"

"More than the flowers love the sun."

I hear his soft giggle again, and I stay behind as I watch you run off into the sunshine, a grin plastered on your face.

Will you ever tell me what I long to hear?

No, it's okay; I'll still smile if you will.

---

"...Sasuke... koi... how much... do you love me?"

"More than... Death loves seeing red."

His smile is now replaced with choked sobs, and every needle puncturing my skin is matched with a salty tear, falling onto my face.

Will I get to hear those words before I go?

It doesn't matter; I'll die happy if I'm in your arms.

---

"Hey, Sasuke, how much do you love me?"

"More than the dark horse loves the gold."

The spark of competition in our voices sparks the fire in our eyes. Assertions of our arrogance are heard clear and crisp atop that windy hospital rooftop, each pushing blindly foreword to prove our superiority.

I'm content if you are.

---

But from the foot of a grand waterfall, I feel the spray of change drifting through the air.

"Sasuke, do you know how much I love you?"

Blood is tricking from my mouth in a soft flowing stream, and the hole in my chest is flowing a river. I push aside the whispers in my head telling me that it's my time to go long enough to dimly breath out, "how... much?"

I feel him squeezing my hand, trying to warm the quickly cooling flesh.

"More than anything," he says.

And as I walk alone through the blinding darkness, I can barely feel the tears hitting my face like a waterfall, and I can barely hear his voice faintly. "I loved you more than anything."

It's okay; as long as you were happy, if not only for a little while, no matter how many lives I'll live, I'll always be happy.

Damn you angst! (Shakes fist at angst)

...Okay, so that was the story. And with that said, I'm going back to writing crazy, random makes-no-sense-unless-you're-on-crack stories. YAY!
