In Flanders Fields
A/N this is my attempt at a one-shot please be kind.
Disclaimer JKR owns the Harry potter universe And the poem In Flanders Fields was written by Dr. John McCrae.
Hermione's POV
It was the day of Harry Potters funereal.
Flash back
He died three days after the war. He had been shot and stabbed to death by Draco Malfoy in revenge for his father. When asked why he did this Malfoy replied calmly (he was under the truth potion) "I wanted to make him suffer as I had when I learned that my father had been killed"
End flash back
Many people had spoken before I was supposed to go up in front of his casket and speak. The most surprising and touching of all was professor Snape. He told how Harry had never deserved all the hardships he had endured and of his many good points (such as bravery). Ginny (Harries fiancé ) had just stepped off the podium and taking a deep breath I slowly walked up and faced the small group of close friends that had gathered at the cemetery. The rest of the wizarding world would be listing on the WWN. Wizarding Wireless Network. I said "I will be singing a poem that Harry loved" in a clear soprano voice I started to sing
In
Flanders Fields the poppies blow
Between
the crosses row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The
larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns
below.
We
are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset
glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders
fields.
Take
up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with
us who die
we shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In
Flanders fields.
As I walked of stage Ginny gave me a hug as she started to cry. I patted her back and tried to comfort her as we sat down together and listened to the next speaker (witch happned to be Ron) after hearing his tearful anolgy of Harry the time came to bury Harry. I was one of the three pal bears at the head of a long list of mourners. When all had left I kissed his tombstone and whispered "may you be peace at last my friend"
