Not much to say here really except nyah, nyah, nyah, nyah to some Norrington fans, I've seen Jack Davenport's arse and you haven't! But enough of my gloating, let's move on to the real matter in hand, the next chapter of the fantastic Escape From Reality!

Disclaimer: I don't own anything to do with PotC, except CJS who's now fighting with Zorro in my cupboard of love...I don't know how he got in there but I'm not complaining as long as it's Antonio Banderas' Zorro! ;)

Anyhoo, off we go, back to the Caribbean seas!

Chapter 10

"Sir, we're coming up on 'The Spanish Rose'."

Commodore James Norrington looked up from the maps and books spread across the table in front of him.

"Thank you Lieutenant." He said, with a nod.

He turned his attention back to the information he'd been sifting through.

"She's not alone, sir." Lt. Gillette informed him, "We believe 'The Black Pearl' is with her."

"'The Black Pearl?'" Norrington repeated.

"Yes sir."

"Turner and Sparrow working together again." Norrington thought outloud.

"It is possible but both ships show signs of heavy damage, we believe they have been locked in conflict with one another."

Norrington mulled this over briefly: "Thank you Lieutenant."

Lt. Gillette bowed his head and left the Commodore to his thoughts.

"Turner and Sparrow together. The score will be settled."

When she woke up, Meg found herself in Jack's cabin on 'The Black Pearl'. She grumbled and sat up grumpily. She rubbed her eyes and realized she wasn't alone. She glanced at the girl who was in the room with her. It wasn't Pippa like Meg had expected it was someone else. She looked a little shorter than Meg, light brown eyes, long brown hair. She was a pretty looking girl.

"Ah you're awake!" The girl said, cheerily.

"I'm conscious. I'm not awake." Meg grumbled, "Um, I hope this doesn't sound rude or anything but, uh, who are you?"

The girl smiled and held a hand out by way of greeting: "The name's Serenity. I'm from the Rose."

Meg took her hand: "Meg, I'm from, uh, the future."

"Ah, yes. Pippa told me about that." Serenity sat on the stool by Meg, "So, what's it like in the future?"

"The future? Um, well..." Meg wondered what to tell her. Luckily she was saved from thinking by the door swinging open. Jack's head popped round the door. Meg tried to control the grin spreading across her face but to no avail. Jack spotted her and grinned back.

"Mornin' luv."

"Morning."

Jack tore his eyes away from Meg and turned to Serenity: "Yer dad wants to see ye."

"Thank you Captain." Serenity got up, "Are you going to be okay?"

Meg nodded, "Yeah, I'll be fine."

"Okay, I'll be back later to check on you." Serenity said, leaving the room.

Jack watched her walk down the corridor before turning his attention to Meg and entering the cabin.

"So, how are ye feeling?" Jack asked.

Like I want to jump you, Meg thought. Instead she settled for a simple, "I'm good."

"Good, that's good." Jack shifted his weight uncomfortably.

He's so cute when he's nervous, Meg noted.

"Well, I'll be going then." Jack said, "I've got a ship to run after all."

He turned and opened the door.

"I heard you last night." Meg said, just as Jack was about to step out.

Jack shut the door and turned round: "Heard me what?"

"Tell me how you feel." Meg replied.

Jack opened his mouth to speak but shut it again when he realized he had nothing to say. Meg got up off the bed and walked over to him.

"Ye must have been imagining it, luv." Jack tried to laugh it off, "I don't get attached to women."

"Don't deny it Jack, I'm not as stupid as I look." Meg said, standing square in front of him and looked him right in the eyes.

Well, there's no use pretending anymore Jack, ol' boy, Jack thought.

"Ye don't look stupid." Jack said, a smile playing upon his lips. He brushed a stray hair out of Meg's face.
They stood staring into each other's eyes for a few moments. Jack gently took hold of Meg's waist and pulled her closer to him. The pair moved in towards each other, mouths slightly parted ready for their first kiss. Their lips were almost touching when the door flew open and Pippa ran in. Jack and Meg turned quickly towards the door.

"Captain, we're under attack!" She informed them before seeing the position they were in, "Oh, was I interrupting something?"

"No Pippa!" Jack and Meg insisted at the same time.

"Oh I see." Pippa said with an exaggerated wink at Meg, "Well take your time. We can handle them."

"No, Pippa, ye can't handle them. Get Serenity and hide in the galley. Meg will be with ye shortly."

Pippa rolled her eyes: "Fine."

She scurried off.

Meg looked back at Jack, "I suppose I better go and hide too."
She began pulled out of Jack's grip and began to walk to the door. Jack gently grabbed her wrist and pulled her back to him.

"Not yet." Jack shook his head.

Meg rolled her eyes, "We can finish this later, Jack."

She walked away again.

Jack pulled her back again: "It's taken us long enough to get to this point and I don't want to risk my life unless I tell ye how I feel when I'm aware ye're conscious."

Meg looked nervously between Jack and the door. The noise from above them was getting louder and more threatening. She saw the look of hope on Jack's face and softened. With a smile she said: "We have time for that."

Jack smiled back: "Good."

He loosened his grip on her wrist, shifted his weight again and looked at Meg, "Okay, Meg, I...I, um, I...come on Jack, ye can do this."

"Jack, you don't have to say it now. I know how you feel." Meg said. The noise was getting even louder, "Plus we're kinda on a time limit here."

"Meg, if I don't say this and I die out there I will never be able to forgive myself, savvy?"

Meg nodded, "I just don't want your need to tell me to endanger your crew."

"It won't." Jack promised, "Meg, I lo-"

The ship rocked and gunshots were fired.

"Me too." Meg said, quickly. She kissed Jack's cheek and began to head out.

Jack, who still had a light hold on her wrist, tightened his grip and pulled her back to him and captured her mouth in a loving kiss. He put all his passion into the kiss and was relieved when he felt Meg kissing him back. He pulled her closer to him and deepened the kiss. Almost as soon as it had begun the kiss ended, Jack pulled back and looked deep into Meg's blue eyes. Finally he felt able to say the three words that had eluded him for so long: "I love ye."

Meg's face lit up: "I, I...I love you too."

The ship rocked again.

"But right now, you need to save your crew."

"Aye." Jack agreed.

The pair raced out of the cabin towards the stairs, which led above deck. Jack peered up and at the carnage happening. His face screwed up in disgust and he turned to Meg.

"I thought ye were going to hide." Jack said.

"I want to help."

"Ye don't have a weapon, luv. How are ye gonna fight them?"

Meg remembered the sword she had when she'd first arrived in Tortuga: "I do, where's my sword?"

"The one ye handled so well in Tortuga?"

"Don't be so sarcastic!" Meg snapped, "That's my job."

"Sorry."

"I just don't want to stand around feeling useless while you're all out there whupping ass."

"Ye're not useless. Ye know that." Jack laid a hand on her shoulder, "Ye just can't handle a sword."

He smiled.

"Now, go to the galley. Ye'll be safe in there."

He took his hand off Meg's shoulder and headed up the stairs to the deck.

"Jack?" Meg called.

He turned round.

"Be careful."

Jack sent Meg a reassuring smile and went above deck.

Meg watched him leave before heading towards the galley. She pushed open the big heavy door and walked in. Even before she'd shut the door, Pippa piped up with the 20 questions.

"So...did he kiss you or did you kiss him? Was he a good kisser? How far did it go? How big is his..."

"PIPPA!" Serenity and Meg shouted at the same time.

"What? I'm curious!"

"I'd never have guessed." Meg said, walking over to the table where the girl's normally peeled their potatoes and sat on it.

"So, what happened?" Pippa asked.

Meg sighed, dreamily.

"That good, eh?" Pippa said.

"Better." Meg smiled.

She shook her head to bring her back to reality, "Anyway, would someone like to explain to me why I'm on 'The Pearl' when I fell asleep on 'The Rose'?"

"My father let the captives go back to their ship. Captain Sparrow brought you back over." Serenity explained, "I was told to keep an eye on you."

"Hang on, your father?" Meg asked in confusion.

"Bootstrap's her daddy." Pippa explained, "Will's her half-brother."

"Oh, um, have you..." Meg started.

"Seen Will yet?" Pippa finished, "No, why would I? I mean he abandoned me. He's not going to make the effort to see me, why should I try to see him?"

"He didn't abandon you." Meg informed her.

"What?" Pippa asked.

"She's right, Pippa." Serenity agreed, "Will didn't want to leave you."

"Exactly. He turned himself into Norrington to protect you." Meg explained.

"To protect me?" Pippa asked.

"Yes. Norrington would have killed everyone on 'The Black Pearl', including Will, to find you and Will didn't want you to have to go through that." Serenity replied.

"So he told Norrington that you were dead so that you didn't end up becoming Mrs Commodore." Meg added.

"Whoa, Will killed me off?!" Pippa said in disbelief.

"What would you prefer? Pretending to be dead or being Norrington's wife?" Serenity asked.

"Good point." Pippa replied, "So, Will didn't abandon me?"

"No, Will didn't abandon you." Meg said.

"So he does love me then." Pippa smiled.

"Well, he won't stop going on about you so I'm guessing that he does." Serenity said.

"He loves me." Pippa's smile became a huge grin. So huge in fact that Meg was surprised her face didn't crack.

Meg decided to change the subject before Pippa exploded with happiness: "So, Serenity, you're Bootstrap's daughter?"

Serenity nodded: "He got my mother pregnant on one of his visits to Tortuga. He came to see me everytime he was in the area so I've always known him. Then one night after he'd come and gone, my mother and I had a huge argument and I ran away and found him. He tried to persuade me to go back home but I insisted on staying with him and I've been sailing around with him ever since."

"Aha."

Serenity looked up, "It's too quiet."

"Well, Pippa's in a daze so it would be quieter than usual."

"No, up there. There's no noise coming from the deck." Serenity pointed out.

"Do you think something's wrong?" Meg asked, suddenly full of worry for Jack.

"I don't know." Serenity replied.

"I'm going to check." Meg headed for the door.

Serenity grabbed her shoulder, "I don't think so, the Navy could be up there waiting for us."

"Whoa, it was the Navy who attacked?" Meg asked.

"Yes."

"Oh God, Jack!" Meg pulled away from Serenity's hand and ran out of the door.

"Megan!"

Serenity and Pippa ran after her. As they all got up on deck, they were shocked by what they saw.

There was nothing. 'The Black Pearl' was completely deserted!

Duh, duh, duh!!!!! The girls are all alone! Now what are they going to do? (And before any of you male readers think it, no they are not going to do THAT!) Oh by the way, Serenity is an OC based on one of my closest mates, Kate, so now you know!

Ooh, in the time it took me to write this I finally got to see 'Secret Window'! Dude, that film's wicked! Johnny looks soooo good, especially towards the end! Although I must admit I prefer the ending in the book to the ending in the film.

Just to let you know. I have a couple of fanfics in the pipeline (again). I have a couple of 'From Hell' ones that I'm working on at the moment and a few silly PotC ones too. (And can the person who was going to help me out with my Norrington PotC fic e-mail me please? Ta)

Anyhoo, that's it from me for now! Chapter 11's coming soooooooooon!!!
