Summary:
Daniel and cherry stems.
Daniel sat on his balcony, a bowl of deep red cherries on the table in front of him. He scrutinized them for a moment, then picked the darkest out of the lot and popped it into his mouth: stem and all.
About half a minute later, out came the stem, a neat little knot in the middle. Seconds after, the pit, cleaned of all crimson cherry-flesh. Daniel licked his lips, and then repeated the action.
A couple minutes later, the door opened, closed, and the soft sound of feet on carpet. Jack appeared at the balcony door. He surveyed the scene: Daniel with his eyes closed, quickly and efficiently cleaning the cherry pit in his mouth, a pile of said pits on a napkin to the side, a bowl of the ripest cherries Jack had ever seen right in front of the archeologist, and a line of neat, knotted stems right above that.
Daniel opened his eyes, glanced at Jack, and spit the pit onto the napkin. "Hey, Jack."
"Daniel…"
"Jack…"
"What are you doing?"
"Well, how fast you can tie a cherry stem into a knot in your mouth is supposed to be an indication of how well you can kiss."
"Oh, really?"
"I've got it down to around 15 seconds."
Jack raised an eyebrow. "I prefer a more direct approach."
This time Daniel looked over invitingly, mischievously. "Show me?"
So Jack showed him.
