"I told him not to touch it. When it's big and red, that's not
usually a good sign. But what does he do? He touches it..."
Notes:
Not really slashy, but there's Daniel and there's Jack.
Sometimes, I wish we had him on a leash. A real short one. Or maybe he could just stay back at the base. Then he wouldn't get us into trouble.
I told him not to touch it. When it's big and red, that's not usually a good sign. But what does he do? He touches it.
"Don't touch it, Daniel," I said.
"But, Jack, this place has been abandoned for years. What harm could it do?" he replied.
"Daniel, what color is it?"
"Red."
"And what does red usually mean?"
"Well, in China it's a symbol of celebration and luck--"
"I mean in the lovely U.S. of A."
"Valentine's day?"
"Daniel..."
"Jack..."
And before I could say anything else, he touched it.
So now we're stuck in only god-knows-where, at the mercy of god-knows-who, who want to do god-knows-what to us. If there's anyone here at all.
"So, Daniel," I ask, "What have you learned today?"
He looks at me and grins, the cheeky little devil. Then he says, "These aliens didn't celebrate Valentine's day."
