"R-Riku…" A shuddery whisper from a spiky haired 15-year-old boy was all that could be heard on the silent shores of Destiny Islands.
"Shh, it'll be okay. It's always pain first." The silver haired male replied, his voice filled with almost genuine concern.
To say the truth, Riku was happy that Kairi and Sora had broken up. Riku and Sora had been best friends since they were born and when Kairi had appeared on the island, Riku couldn't help but feel like he was losing his best friend, which was in a way, exactly what happened. Sora and Kairi had developed feelings for each while Riku had developed feelings for Sora.
I guess that's when I stopped believing in love, Riku thought idly while throwing a random rock at said best friend who was at the moment, sulking in the sand next to him, head between his legs.
"OUCH!" Sora yelped as the rock hit him squarely on his head.
"What was that for?" Sora demanded, the angry pout on the boys face making Riku laugh.
"For being so sensitive. I mean, c'mon! It's just Kairi! It's not like she was some super hot babe or something! Be a man!" Riku said dodging the rock as Sora threw it back.
"Well excuse me for having feelings. Hmph!" Sora said crossing his arms over his chest and standing up.
Riku sighed. Why did Sora have to be so freaking adorable? Well, why did Sora have to be a boy in the first place? If Sora had only been born a girl…things would have been much much better.
"Okay, sorry for hitting you with that rock. But seriously, you shouldn't think too much of it. Girls will come and girls will go. There's other fish in the sea!" Riku explained gesturing towards the ocean.
"Yeah…but, I really liked Kairi." Sora whined.
"Yeah, but I guess Kairi didn't really like you." Riku said wincing at how mean it suddenly sounded. "I mean—"
"Man Riku why are you putting things so bluntly? It's almost like you're happy we broke up! Some bestfriend you are." Sora said walking away towards his house.
Riku easily caught up with him and instantly began lecturing himself on how to keep his happiness within himself. If Sora found out what Riku felt about him…it would be bad!
"Why did she break up with you anyway?" Riku asked as Sora began opening the door to his house. Since it was Saturday night, Riku was going to sleep over at Sora's house, as usual.
"I…don't want to say." Sora said somewhat hesitantly as he took off his shoes and waited for Riku to get in. Riku did the same and immediately went to the couch and turned on the tv.
"C'mon Sora, you can tell me! What, you were a bad kisser or something?" Riku teased as he took a seat next to Sora on the couch.
Riku was now more than ever curious to find out why Sora wouldn't tell him why. He was also curious to know why Sora had blushed at what he just said. Weird.
"No…I mean, we never really kissed-" Sora mumbled quietly obviously hoping that the older boy hadn't heard him.
"You guys went out for 2 months and you never kissed!" Riku nearly shouted, amazed.
"Don't yell it to the whole world Riku! But yeah…we never kissed. So what?" Sora said, the pout now back on his lips.
Riku paused for a moment of thought. "Good thing you didn't." He said looking at Sora mischievously. "It's not like you know how anyway."
"What! Of course I know how!" Sora said but Riku could tell it was a lie.
"Ah, now I know why she broke up with you." Riku said sneering ignoring Sora. "Maybe you needed a tic-tac or something."
"What? Nuh-uh! I have perfectly fresh breath in case you want to know!" Sora said, huffing himself up. Riku laughed. It was so easy to get Sora infuriated now a days. Especially since he had just been dumped.
"And why would I want to know?" Riku said leaning close to Sora who was now flipping through the channels almost frantically out of nervousness? Agitation? Riku wasn't sure.
"…maybe because you like me."
