Jewels on the Water
A Yamshiro dribble
by agz
Jewels on the water, they held his eyes. Leaning over the bank of the lake, arms folded over the grass, he stared at the water. Little jewels--fire opals, maybe, flashing crystals shards of sunfire--danced across the surface, lighting his eyes with yellow and orange laced with shoots of deep red and bright gold. On the other side of the lake, the bloated, burning sun sank into the water like a leviathan conquered--or a descending lover, lighting the skies above with the fires of its passion.
He smiled at this, a bright and cheery expression made all the merrier by the friendly orange-gold light. The shining sunlight painted his face in tender hues of warmth and friendliness; he smiled into those gentle rays, letting them soak into his soft skin. He felt he could've purred, had he been alone and uninhibited enough.
Gentle fingers slid slowly across one cheek, and he shuddered a little. Then lips--gentler than the fingers and silky to the touch--lit upon his cheek like butterflies, and his skin tingled electrically, sparks shooting from his cheek to his trembling shoulders. The lips pursed, laying a Lillipudlian kiss upon his flesh, then trailed their way away, dropping little kisses all the way up until they clasped his earlobe within their velvet grip and gave it a tiny tug.
Shuddering and shivering, heat and blood rising to his cheeks, he turned to the owner of lips--and delivered to him a golden smile, eyes alight like the jewels on the water, face glowing like the sinking sun.
His companion--a towheaded older boy--dropped down on the grass beside the boy with the golden grin, smiling up at him, head hanging a little over the bank of the lake. How could he not smile? The bright-faced boy before him exuded such serene euphoria that only the stiff and heartless could remain uninfected by his radiant bliss. The boy's smile was catching, and soon the blonde was returning it in full, gold gleaming across his face.
The golden boy looked up into the sunset, still grinning with ethereal radiance, then lowered his head onto the chest of his yellow-haired companion--partner, lover, significant other. Lean, aurum arms slid under the athletic body beneath him. His eyes closed, and he smiled that smile of his once more before drifting lazily into sweet somnolence, led there by the gentle lullaby of a heartbeat.
The blonde watched the boy--his boy--slip away to dreamland, and smiled, arms sliding around him , holding him close. He listened to the boy breathe, inhales and exhales coming and going in near-silent puffs, and thought on how wonderful it was, to be wrapped up in a person, to love them so fully and cherish them so greatly. He thought on how lucky he was to have what he had, and to be what he was. He thought about it right up until he joined his mate in the kingdom of dreams, departing from our sun-soaked sphere with a smile and a drop of the eyelids.
They slept there, on the edge of the lake, smiling at the golden sky, lost forever to one another--to love.
For better, for worse, to love and to cherish.
Author's Note:
This was quite a random thing, this story. It was written in an hour on an impulse fueled by a friend's fangirlism. XD Hope you've enjoyed it; it was a nice little piece, and I had fun writing it.
Adios, for now.
