He sat on a hard, hospital chair, his head in his hands, with tears flowing freely from his crimson eyes.
He provided a pitiful sight, especially to those who have seen being the opposite: poised, gallant, brave, elegant. His once brilliant eyes now showed of nothing but pain and turmoil he was going through.
He raised his head to reveal his tear-streaked face and bloodshot eyes, looking at the figure lying down on the bed.
The figure was pale, and appeared to be in a deep sleep.
Atemu felt a bitter smile creep its way into his lips. To him, Yuugi still looked like an Angel; a tormented angel, but an angel nonetheless.
He took hold of his Other's clammy hands, enveloping them with his own.

Atemu caressed his aibou's face as he sang, his voice breaking and faltering a little as he continued, unconsciously holding Yuugi's hands tighter, much like a child not wanting to let go of a prized possession.

A new wave of tears spilled out of the former Pharaoh's eyes, as he scanned the impersonal room for the hundredth time, noting the wires that connected Yuugi to the machines.

His crimson eyes closed as energy was transferred from him to Yuugi, knowing the possible consequences, but not caring.

It didn't matter to him if he soul could be shattered and destroyed for all Eternity, without Yuugi, he would have no reason to live anyway.

He could feel the Puzzle, his prison, starting to pull him back into its hollow depths.

'I will, aibou…I promise,' Atemu swore as he resisted the force of the Sennen Puzzle, knowing that their entwined souls will always be together.

With his soul spent and devoid of energy, he let himself be imprisoned back into the puzzle, its dark abyss welcoming him once again as he fell into a dreamless sleep, salty tears continuing to cascade down his cheeks.
